It is rarely happening but due to the achievements of these players, they're demanding and want to be comfortable with what they've got. I guess this is a hot pot now and a lot to say about this issue. Well, if Steph asks for a trade, the management won't allow it for sure.
There is nothing that would merit Steph to ask for a trade. I believe the team is very solid right now and he is getting all the things he needs from the management. I believe the shot from Draymond is just a fishing expedition to get a max contract and Steph is just supporting Draymond as a good teammate would do. But if push comes to shoves, Steph is way better and comfortable to stay with the warriors. And he have more chance to still be successful in this team, late in his career, than anywhere else. So moving out of Warriors is just a bad move.

I think it's common amongst great organization, even the Bulls during their second championship run, Jordan and Pippen has issues with Bulls general manager, Jerry Krause. And yet they were able to make a second 3peat. Didn't request for a trade because it's almost non-existent that time. But now we have cases like the Ben Simmons and Kyrie Irving drama, and then Durant requesting a trade. If Curry or Green do the same, then the Warriors will break apart. And that's how dynasty's are broken. Sooner or later there will be issues that the management and players disagree.

Back in the day, the team has more control over their stars. Unlike right now, the stars control the team. They've given them power to influence acquisition and over the coaches. Sometimes it is good because you keep the stars happy and you get a ring out of it but sometimes it backfires. Durant the best example of giving the stars too much power that went bad. Now the Nets is filled with divas.

It is overtime for Magnolia and NLEX. It is very exciting and close match.

Magnolia made a magnificent stop against the NLEX and steal the ball with 2+ seconds left but was not able to make something out of it though. So we are now in overtime.

Have to wait a few more minutes for Ginebra vs Meralco do-or-die game.

1723  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: July 30, 2022, 01:05:54 PM
Fans especially, will never doubt betting for Ginebra it's a do-or-die game and it will add more to how they wanted to see the team will perform, the momentum shifted to Ginebra's side now and Meralco knows it so they are also preparing and review all the possible adjustments that they needed to do.

Last team to stand and proceed to the next round. Both Ginebra and NLEX survive and now will try to win against their opposing teams.

Good luck to all PBA fans who also love betting in each game..

You are right and I am a fan too. Whenever it is a do-or-die, I always bet on Ginebra. And I think the sportsbooks also agree.

Maybe I will take Ginebra handicap. The game will be close but I think that Ginebra can easily cover it. 1.78 is quite low but good enough for me.

Draymond Green wants four-year max extension, willing to explore other teams if Warriors won't pay, per report
Draymond Green is cooking something.
...
I admire his hard work and love for the game but there should always be a limit to what you could get. By asking for more money, he is restricting the entry of good roleplayers to be part of their team.

There is no harm in trying anyway. If the warriors bite, then it is all good. And if not, well he can try fishing if another team will bite. And if all fails, he still has player options in 2023-24 season. Luck favors the bold and he is testing it.
I wish that's the case, trying to secure good pay so that if ever no team will pick him up he got lots of money in his pocket already.
That had been the case in the past few years, always about the money being secured, they all want it max and free for an option to be traded.
As I checked different NBA-related pages on Facebook, most of the discussions were about the loyalty of players. Dirk, Kobe, Steph, and other players.
But some have their opinions like "fuck loyalty", it's a different era now and money will always win.
Dirk was offered $92M by the Lakers and Rockets but stayed with the Mavs for a 3-year contract of just $25M way back 2014.

We cannot blame the players if they want to have the biggest paycheck possible. Basketball career is very short and can end abruptly. They do not know how long they can stay in NBA. While they are healthy and still at the peak of their career, they will try to get that max contract as much as possible because you may never know when that career ending injury can happen. And if they can get that paycheck by moving around, so be it. There are only very few players who have talent enough and luck enough to stay loyal and still get that huge contract.

Look at Isaiah Thomas. He was illegible for max contract in Boston, but he got injured before he can secure it. That one injury turned his supposed big paycheck into almost nothing. He got traded and now, just a few years later, he is gone in the league.

Do you think the sixers are guilty in tampering and early contract?

If they are found guilty, they can be fined up to $10 million, forfeiting of draft picks and suspension of executives. The article said that void of contract is virtually non-existent but still, if they get slapped with the fines, it will still sting.

Is it worth it? For me, if they get a ring, it is worth it.

The NBA has opened an investigation into the Philadelphia 76ers for possible tampering and early contact centered on the franchise's summer free agency class of James Harden, P.J. Tucker and Danuel House, sources told ESPN on Friday.

How about just Smart and White, with some picks? I do not know if that is a salary matched, but I am sure they could get some other player they do not want and make that happen. This way, they keep Brown and Tatum, also Horford, but also add in Durant to this and thats a championship team which we all know. However, Nets wouldn't probably go for that, they would probably want some big bang for him, they would probably want the worlds for him because thats basically what they paid to get him. In the end, Durant will leave, and if he said he wants to be traded, Nets will eventually accept less than what they normally would now.

The Nets will not bite this. Brown is more valuable than Smart but the Nets rejected that offer. Maybe if it was Tatum that Celtics offered, maybe they will bite. But as we all know, Tatum is untouchable in Boston. They are building their team around him. He is the face of Boston right now.

But the good thing about this trade drama with Kevin Durant?

Some players now know that they are willing to be given up by their respective teams even how good and loyal they are.

I think they know that from the very beginning since they are all professionals. It is sports but at the end of the day it is business.

Magnolia is +9.5 live, I'm taking it now.
Good luck, that's a big gamble but currently, the lead is still in double-digit and I don't think Magnolia still has time to come back and win. +9.5 too has very slim chance of winning as most likely Magnolia will not play hard anymore knowing they will still lose.

Yeah, it has a slim chance indeed and I lost my bet this time. Magnolia losing double-digit, that's uncharacteristic for a team that has a long winning streak. Anyway, I'll just wait for the odds to open for game 3, I'm sure they will bounce back from this big loss. No games tomorrow, it will resume the next game, and I think one day rest is enough, they'll figure out how to win next time.

I thought they could continue their rally in the 3rd quarter into the fourth. They have cut their deficit by a single digit but NLEX made their own rally late on the fourth quarter.

They can bounce back next game. If they can have consistent defense like they have shown in the 3rd quarter forcing NLEX to have turnover, they will bag this.

1728  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why did you choose to support the sports team you are supporting? on: July 29, 2022, 02:33:16 PM
I support the teams that keeps me excited every time I see them play. Having a star in that team is an advantage and I will support them more if they play like a real team and no individual drama.

one thing that makes sense because we as fans of someone who is idolized must automatically support his or her club as well. For example, I used to idolize David Beckham when he joined Manchester United and after he left Manchester United I automatically supported the football club he was defending, even though I hated the club before.

Some are like that but there are also some who supports the team not just the stars. Those are the real fans of the club who will stay even when the club is in an overhaul.
1729  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: July 29, 2022, 02:24:36 PM
The chances of Carmelo getting a championship ring is somehow bigger if he will be in the Warriors than he is at the Lakers, I mean, the Lakers roster is decent but not good enough compared to the Warriors who have a big chance to win back-to-back championship this coming season 22-23 because the Lakers are still rebuilding the team after what happened to them recently, you know what I mean.

By a large margin. In my opinion, Lakers are still in disarray while the Warriors are still very much intact with their core and young guns. Unlike last season, warriors are going to be a favorite this season to win the championship. If he wants a coattail ride to a championship, the warriors are his best bet.

Perhaps he still haven't adjusted yet to the NBA. He really need to be self discipline otherwise he might not stay in the league for so long. He is athletic no doubt about it, but he needs to take care of that. And one thing is to get in shape, maybe 280-290ish might be the ideal weight for him. He can go and be agile and then higher as he is slimmer. The kid is 22 years old, and I would say that he need good people around him, sort of an adviser to help his in his career.

He should have already. He is in the league for three years already albeit he has been injured most of the time. This clause is a slap that he can't discipline himself so, the Pelicans are forcing him to do it. And he should, if he wants to continue playing and stablish himself in the league.
1730  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: July 29, 2022, 12:57:48 AM
...

Interesting. This is honestly the first time I heard about that agreement. Is this for real? And Zion accepted that disclosure? lol.

What if even at that weight, he will show dominance and still establish decent stats per game? Maybe that was too much to ask since if they will forced Zion to reduce weight, it will take several months in the process and that might affect his usual game performance once the season commences.

The best way would be, they should see first if Zion's weight will be a big problem to him once official games are now started. From there, they can decide if Zion should take the reduced weight program or just allow him on his usual.

You don't have to wait next season because it is already the source of his lower body injury since he entered the league. Even at 280, he is still overweight since he is just 6'6". Normally, you see that weight to taller guys, 6 ft 9 and higher. That clause in the contract does not only benefit the pelicans but mostly for Zion. If he want to stay longer in the league, he needs to reduce his weight. His playing style already puts too much pressure on his lower body, that pressure multiplies if he keeps getting heavier. So shedding those extra weight will do wonders to his career.

Was a great bit because he is on so right with that.  His delivery of that bit was great too.  I mean really how can they match nba when they aren't pulling in any money.  Do people actually bet on wnba?  Ya'll hard up for some action 😅

They won't match NBA and I think NBA is subsidizing WNBA to keep it afloat. Anyway, a match is still a match and most gamblers, specially addicts, will bet on anything they can bet on. If sportsbook pick it up, somebody will make a bet.

I won't take too much action in WNBA though because I don't follow this league. It is hard to make a bet when you're just guessing.

It's clear that what Nets are looking for is salary fillers (players unimportant, just match the salary of Durant) along with overhaul of picks, if they can get like 3-4 good picks, then whoever else as a player comes along with that wouldn't be cared.

I doubt that is all they want for Durant. The way they are fleecing the NBA right now, they want to maximize the value they can get from him. Sure they want as many picks they can get because they don't have any picks anymore since they traded them all away. They still want a star to get from durant trade so if they can't trade kyrie away, they can still be legit contender since they still have simmons in their roster.
1734  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: July 28, 2022, 06:02:20 PM
The Golden State Warriors have shown some interest in picking up Carmelo Anthony for next season. I’m not sure how well he would fit in, but I’m sure he could do some damage off the bench. I’m thinking it would probably be his last chance to win a championship, so it wouldn’t be a bad option for him. I’d wait to see if Kyrie gets traded to the Lakers and see if I could run that back before anything else though.

Nah, better for GSW to pick other players specially that will play defense on them. The only reason I'm thinking why they shown some interest on Anthony is the experience. The Warriors pick up a lot of rookies from this years draft and then they have Moody, Kuminga and Wiseman. Maybe they wanted Anthony to give those rookies and sophomores some tips and him showing how to stay long in the NBA.

Warriors have enough veterans to teach their young guns how to play in NBA at the highest level. Curry, Thompson, Green are veteran enough and if ever, Iguodala if they resign him. Maybe it is just for firepower, but would he really fit the system of GSW?

So all of a sudden, Draymond Green becomes the center of attention the last few days. Now there's more. He wants a 4-year max contract extension. This means he will be paid $164 million for the next 5 years or around $33 million per year. His current contract would be $25.8 million for the next season and a player option worth $28.5 million in the following season. Draymond is too full of himself. Although he is a very important piece of the team, he is starting to decline with his low stats performance in the last season.

And Draymond also mentioned that he is willing to explore offers from other teams should the Warriors' management not be interested in a max contract extension. Do you guys think Draymond is worth that max extension? His current stats are not even worth his current contract if I were to say, but I got it, the management do not want to break the team's core.

He is starting to decline but it is the intangible that matters. He is still part of the core. Klay and Steph can play the way they play the game because of Green. He is important to their gameplay, so I think he is worth the max extension and the management can just give it as a thank you for the rings he brought them.

[...] while the Nets are likely to run it back with KD and Kyrie again, perhaps with Ben Simmons and maybe even Dwight Howard this time.  I actually like that roster a lot, but it remains to be seen if they can play together.  Personally, I think Dwight Howard and KD would be an absolute beast of a machine on both ends of the floor.

It is actually not bad roster in paper. If they could just find a way to play together and avoid all the dramas, they are legit contenders.
1735  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Rise of Streamers in Online Gambling on: July 28, 2022, 03:31:47 PM
It seems gambling sites found this also profitable. An average streamer can have a thousand viewers at a time easy. Casinos can easily get exposure just giving a streamer a sponsorship. And as most viewers are gullible, they can have new members if these streamers net big wins on their casinos. A very profitable business model. And we may see more of them in the future.

I have been watching some slot streamers regularly. Just like when i watched xposed. To be honest they were affiliator rather than called all of them as real gamblers. I saw that thousands of people were also watching it for the entertain purpose only. The fact that if they were getting money from anyone who registered through their refferal. I called them all as affiliator. As far i as i know that account that used by strimer was different with the regular gamblers.

That is where the bulk of their income comes from. They cannot rely on payment from hours view to survive. Sponsorship and affiliation give them more money than they can earn from views.

1736  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: July 27, 2022, 03:47:24 PM
The asking price set by the Nets for Durant's services seem to be too high, which has stalled a lot of teams to get out of negotiations early on.

They are trying to fleece the NBA for talents and draft picks because  they mortgage their future to get Durant, Kyrie and Harden to win them championships. But alas, those players did not play coherently and instead wanted out of the team. Harden is already out. If they don't get anything valuable in exchange for Durant, they will never be able to rebuild since they do not have draft picks in like 5 years. They are in a mess and what they can make out of the trade of Durant will somehow give them a chance to be at least competitive.

I forgot who says that with the way the league is built right now with super teams, it will take at least 3 great players to win. So if we do the math, Tatum and then Durant might not be an effective weapons in the East and it will be hard to win a championship with just the 2 of them and again, there is the question of blending as well.
But the Golden State Warriors is not a super team. They just branded them with that name. Those guys put hard work in their career to achieve greatness.
Draymond cannot even shoot, his stats also went down from an average of near triple-double to almost not reaching a double-double this year.
Klay was not on his greatest career anymore. It's all teamwork that made them strong.
I still believe it's about chemistry but signing in mercenaries like Durant may also work just like how the Raptors won a championship by hiring Kawhi to help them out.

They may not started a super team but they are now. It is the result of all the hard work their core players have done.  And with the addition of the young role players, they are getting stronger.

If that's the case then KD will remain to play with Kyrie and they just need to fix their play to make it different from the last season where they really struggle to synchronize and have some chemistry issues with the new traded players.

Honestly, I don't expect the Nets can do something impressive next season, even if Irving and Durant will stay on the team. The problem is that Durant might not perform as well, and he might also have some issues with his teammates after all since he has expressed his desire to leave the team. At the same time, Irving seems to be unpredictable. I mean, if there's another pandemic and mandatory vaccinations, Irving will probably miss part of the season because of his beliefs again.

If they choose to play, they can be very good. It is the attitude that destroys them. The Nets netted a number of good players with terrible professional attitude.

Too bad for FNATIC. It is already too hard to win in this tournament with a complete lineup. what more with 3 stand ins. I am considering them out of this tournament.

Do you think Ceb will play again for OG on this majors?

I love to see him play again but isn't he already retired? And I think OG young players need more exposure going to TI.

Who do you think will win on this majors again?

I am expecting those who needs DPC points to step up. Maybe team Spirit can win this tournament this time. They lost to LGD in Riyadh, maybe they want to make a comeback here.

1738  Economy / Economics / Re: You don't earn money only from others, but also when you avoid spending your own on: July 26, 2022, 06:30:33 PM
Saving and cutting expenses can only do so much but it is a start. Sometimes you cannot actually do it if you have very limited income.

The key is to have multiple sources of income and then you can move to saving and cutting expenses and then making investments. Investments are the best source of additional income since it is passive. The more passive income you have the more you can save and then you don't have to cut expenses anymore.

The article linked in the post by OgNasty mentioned Brown as the center piece of the trade plus draft picks. It didn't say about Smart or the role players.
https://twitter.com/wojespn/status/1551454984314753024?s=21&t=w1qEPWBdZ9JMV3B1ji-y5g

Celtics would be really stupid if they would actually give up a lot of key pieces for KD.

I was not talking about woj but about Shams's report that the nets counter offer includes brown, smart, draft picks, and a possible role player in exchange for Durant. I just did some research on what is the counter offer on Ognasty's post below:

Shams reporting this morning that the Celtics offered a package surrounding Jalen Brown for Durant, which the Nets turned down and then countered.

The Nets are maximizing what they can get from the Durant trade. Understandable since they build around Durant and then suddenly he is leaving them hanging.

Celtics would be really stupid if they would actually give up a lot of key pieces for KD.
You are right and exactly my point. It will have a negative effect for the Celtics if the trades ever comes true.

And the question is, who is going to guard Jordan?

And who's going to coach them? Hahaha

You actually have a point. This will not be just a battle between players but with coaching. It will be a chess match.

Both teams are no doubt very talented and competitive. It will all boil down to how each will adjust to the other team's strategy.
1740  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: July 25, 2022, 10:55:30 PM
This trade discussions involving Brown and Durant may effect the Celtics  negatively whether it pushes through or not.

If it pushes through, it will disrupt the established chemistry that the team build through their young cores. And they are not assured that Durant and Tatum tandem will click. And it can also disrupt Tatum's development as the alpha of the team. This may lead them not achieving anything. This can affect Tatum's decisions when he becomes free agency. Worst comes to worst, Durant will leave them disarrayed just how he leaves his former teams.
I don't think it will be that bad since its Brown and draft picks. Yes he's an important part of the team but replacing him with KD would not totally disrupt the team rhythm since the Celtics still have the role players. This could actually play out well for the team in the short term. Tatum will most likely continue to be the team facilitator because we know Durant isn't a ball hog and has no problem moving without the ball.

Yes it does because Nets wants Brown, Smart, draft picks and possible a role player. I do not think Nets will take the trade if it is just brown and picks. It will be a totally new dynamics within the team and that can go either way. Can be very good and they win or the other way around.

Quote
If it does not push through, it may affect the relationship of the management with brown and eventually affects the team. After the performance that Brown showed last season, specially in the finals, he will be disgruntled to know that Celtics still considered him a trading piece.  A disgruntled star athlete will have bad performance
I am yet to see a social media rant from Brown. I would be disappointed in him if he starts acting like a Diva like Kyrie or Ben.

He is shaking his head though.
