981  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Responsible gambling on: December 29, 2022, 05:43:12 PM
I consider myself a gambling addict. However, unlike gambling addicts, I'm aware of my addiction and I know how to control it.

If you are still in control, I do not consider that an addiction yet. Maybe you are just a gambling enthusiast. Cheesy

To avoid, running after the loss, I have set up the responsible gambling in my account and it helps me a lot to control the bad beats against my will to recharge my account and ending up losing it all again.

For me this has been working for quite some time and it was a way I found to prevent me from throwing money that I need away.

Any of you guys uses the responsible gambling feature? If so, what do you think about it? Is it helpful or does it only gives you a sense of control

I am not aware of this service. What bookies or website offer this kind of service? I do not need this kind of service yet because I am still very much in control of my gambling habits. But, just in case I ever need one, I would like to know where to avail.

Lost my parlay today. The Phoenix Suns were wrecked by the Washington Wizards. I did not expect that. Maybe they were exhausted by a back-to-back game. Anyway, better luck tomorrow.

Best of luck to you guys backing the Warriors, i'm skipping that game since the Warriors are missing another player as Thompson is already listed as very unlikely, it'll probably be a close game though as the Warriors are currently 2-0 ATS when they're the home underdogs.

I'm putting my money on the Pelicans -6.5 as the Timberwolves continue to lose games on the road and the Pelicans perform well at home only losing one home game this month.

Unfortunately, the Pelicans failed to cover the 7-point handicap. They won just by 1 point, 119-118.

Congratulations to GSW backers, they are really a monster when defending home. They are now 15-2 at home after their win against Utah Jazz, 112-107.

New Orleans Pelicans @ 1.41 vs Minnesota Timberwolves

The New Orleans Pelicans (21-12) will host the Minnesota Timberwolves (16-18) tonight at Smoothie King Center. The Pelicans are coming from a wing against the Indiana Pacers 113-93. The Timberwolves lost against the Miami Heat 113-110 last Monday.

Bay Area has silenced the crowd, they are controlling the game now with 14 points lead in the 2nd quarter.

43-29 is the score now.

Cheer up guys, Ginebra never say die team, they will come back for sure.

Probably Ginebra will come back in game 3 as Bay Area ties the series.
This is an exciting finals indeed, Bay Area is not intimidated with the crowd and they are too focused to win the game and they did a great job tonight. As expected and speculated by many, Game 7 seems to be more possible as both teams are showing great composure here, I just missed to placed a bet and hopefully in game 3, I’ll see a great odds.

I was unable to watch the second half, but with how the Dragons played the first half, it seems they have figured out how to stop Ginebra. They have shut down everyone from Ginebra. I am excited to see how coach Tim Cone will adjust the offense of Ginebra to counter the adjustment of the Bay Area Dragons. I think this game was too easy for the Dragons. If Ginebra fails to counter Bay Area Dragon in their next game, we may not see game 7.
985  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: December 28, 2022, 08:47:48 AM
Looking for betting odds in game 2?

It's now available. As usual, Bay Area is still listed as the favorite with a spread of -4 in my bookie.
If you are thinking of betting on Ginebra, this is the best time as they are an underdog.

For best odds, you can choose among the bookies.

Sportsbet 2.44
Stake 2.48
Duelbets 2.48

I am surprised to see that Ginebra is still the underdog even after they beat the Bay Area Dragons in game 1. It is not a close match and Ginebra looks like a thorn to the Dragons. In their two meetings, Ginebra won both games. But the bookies still see them as an underdog. This is a good odd for Ginebra backers. If Ginebra win again this game, they might become the favorite.

Though from how we see bookies placing the odds seems that they are seeing a good adjustment from the Bay Area, it might be a trap or there's something from bookies system pointing them to place Bay Area as favorite.

Maybe the bookies see that it is hard to sustain the kind of defense that Ginebra is putting on against the Dragons. Maybe they think that the 3-point slump the dragons had last game was just a bad game and Bay Area will be able to redeem themselves today. We will see. Less than hour before the game begins.

I don't know. But I believe LeBron James is still the Lakers best player.

One factor that I think is relevant is that, he is not as enthusiastic with the team, like beforehe, day after day it seems that the level of the Lakers is decreasing and I believe that this is putting LJ down.

AD is greatly missed, and I have no doubts about that. An interesting point is that, if LeBron James suffers an injury, the Lakers still have a player who can replace him (in the worst case, adapting, maybe Westbrook, Walker, Reaves, Beverley and others). Now if AD gets injured and needs to stay out (and this is happening), unfortunately the Lakers don't have a player that can replace him, because he is an extremely high quality PF/C and an excellent defensive player, and the reserves or others Lakers players are unable to resolve their foul.

You actually made a point about why Lebron is not the main man of the Lakers right now. AD is. If Darvin Ham could just move him to PF rather than C, then maybe he could be less injury prone.

....
Well, at his age, he's stamina is relatively low as well, but the surprising thing is that he still plays 36 MPG.
It's not as surprising anymore when you don't hustle as hard on defense and spend most time in the court on offense. Some would even argue that he continues to play a lot of minutes for stats padding in order to catch or surpass Kareem's all-time NBA leading scorer record.

Let us not go there. Leave the stat padding conversation to social media. I believe Lebron decided that his energy best serve the Lakers in offense rather than defense. I do not agree with this but that is how he thinks his energy should be spent. I think he should spend it on defense since that is what his team is lacking. In the offensive department, I think AD, Walker, Westbrook, and the others can chip in to that.

Ja Morant do have some talent and I know he do know that fact but he is not yet there. Someday, we will see him what he is like on the peak of his prime and by that time, surely he will carry the whole team on his back. Although, from what I observed, his performance will likely get him some serious injuries.

I am observing the same with Ja Morant. He could be great but he needs to put in the work, prepare his body to be less injury prone. It is nice to see athletic players but too much might get him long-term injury. If he keeps at it, he might end up like D Rose.

I think they wouldn't let go of Miracle for Ammar if the former hasn't decided to step off the active roster for a bit. They'd value Miracle more than ATF at this point and if NGX had a choice, they'd surely keep Miracle in the roster. What I'm worrying about is Kuro. The man has very little hero pool, very predictable hero drafts, and an overall lost sense of the previous metas as shown in the previous tournaments/matches. He's no longer on par with Puppey when it comes to drafting and being a pos 5 strategist actively playing for a team. His passion is there but his game sense isn't. which is just sad but understandable since he's getting really old.
I bet to differ about kuro having low hero pool, in fact, for the past TIs he's got the record of having the most played for different heroes.

But I do get that he's on a different level now, not that positive level and I agree to you that he shouldn't be playing anymore. He's better to switch into coaching rather than playing.

There are other talented players that can play for him as a pos 5 but can't deny and argue about his experience. However, a change and push for him is a must if they want to see the team thrive.

I also believe Kuro has to switch his role at this point of his career. He should either manage his own team or become a coach. He is already 30 years old, and his mechanical skill will get slower and will not be able to compete against young players. Those young players will outplay him at this point in his career. His experience and knowledge of the game will best serve him if he uses it as a coach or team manager or owner. He should let the young ones play for his position and just train them.

990  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: December 26, 2022, 11:42:53 PM
Regard to LeBron James, he continues to play, most of the games he manages to have a good score, in others not so much, unfortunately he cannot carry the team on his shoulders as he did before, and it is clear that he needs help, especially AD to get the Lakers to the playoffs and perform well in this stage of the competition!

Lebron is not the main man anymore. Though he can still contribute to the offense, he is not that much anymore in defense. He is not as intense as he was when he was in Miami or in Cleveland. AD is the main man of the Lakers right now but his availability to play prohibits him to carry the team. IF Lebron is not bringing too much income to the Lakers organization, I think he will be out already. Let's see how far the current roster will take them and how long the Lakers will stick to AD and Lebron if they do not bring success to the Lakers.

991  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: December 26, 2022, 11:29:21 PM
The way they switch their defense to prevent an open 3 point shot from Bay Area is just impressive. They don't have the height especially the guards but the quickness is there. Ginebra is known for their defense and they have showed a good defense in game 1, so I guess this will be an exciting series as Bay Area will certainly make an adjustment to even the series in game 2.

You are right, the guards are pretty impressive. Scottie Thompson is everywhere. There is very few times that the dragon finds an open three-point shooter. There is always someone to bother the shot. I wonder how the coach will adjust their play so they will be able to have open shooters or clean lanes for someone to drive into the basket. This will be a tough assignment.

Whether they will play Powell in game 2 or not, we have no information for now, all we can do is to wait.

Someone noted here that Powell is already out for the conference, but we will see if that will change in the future if Nicholson cannot carry the dragons.

There are no odds out yet for game 2, but I am guessing that the dragons will be a slight underdog this time. I am sure the odds will shift because of the outcome of game 1 but I do not know how big the swing will be.
992  Other / Off-topic / Re: Team USA will play in the Philippines for the FIBA WORLD CUP 2023 on: December 26, 2022, 09:05:17 PM
The seat price is quite expensive for average Filipinos, but I am sure in team USA games, it will still be fully packed. It is very seldom that we can see NBA players play in our country. Filipinos will surely save to watch the games live.

Betting-wise, it is hard to bet against team USA if they are not against teams coming from Europe. Moneyline for sure I will bet for team USA even though I know the odds won't be that attractive. Maybe bookies will give us attractive handicaps.
993  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: December 26, 2022, 08:40:36 PM
I will definitely watch this game, Cavaliers have a very impressive home record but they will be tested by a streaking Brooklyn Nets. Honestly, it's hard to predict the winner of this game, but for the sake of having fun, let's just follow our hearts and enjoy watching the game. How about the total? Does the over 220 looks attractive?

It will be an exciting game to watch. 220 looks attractive to me. Brooklyn Nets is an offensive team, so maybe they will draw the Cavaliers into an offensive brawl. We know Durant and Kyrie can get it going in the scoring department and Donovan Mitchell will not back out in a scoring contest. The only problem here is if the Cavaliers were able to limit the scoring of Durant and Kyrie.

The good thing now is that Mitchell had some big support from his teammates, unlike when he was with the Jazz, he was the one who is doing the heavy lifting to win. By the way, the Cavaliers lose their previous game against the Raptors, it's a home game, so they are not really that tough. I don't know man, I'm a little confuse as both teams are really good and there's also a possibility that Cavaliers will bounce back from that loss.

That actually make them more dangerous. They are coming from a loss at home, which means this game is their bounce-back game. I am sure they do not want to lose back-to-back in front of the home crowd.
994  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: December 26, 2022, 08:16:37 PM
... Ja Morant, will be the same as well.

He looks great for not, but he will lose his hopes in 7-8 years and will become a boring player to watch eventually. Shooters keep staying good, rebounders too, passers too, but if all you do is jump super high and be athletic then you are going to lose that in no time and will become a player that is slow and useless.

Ja is still young. He jumps high and is athletic, but I do not think that is all he can do. He led NCAA in assists in 2019 so we know he can pass. Hopefully he learns from Westbrook and develops some skills other than being athletic. IF he improves his FT, 3-points and Field goal percentage that will go a lot with his athleticism. And maybe, he can avoid jumping too high too much to avoid getting injured.

Right now, Houston is in rebuilding mode, they are building young superstars like Jallen Green and Porter Jr. so Harden will be stealing the spotlight from them.

Those young stars will learn so much from James Harden as well, so it will be alright to steal their spotlight for a while. Harden has a lot of experience, if he can teach those young guns, maybe they will be successful in Houston. But if he goes back to Houston, Harden may delay his championship aspiration. He is already 33, I do not think he can wait for those two to major and get into their prime. Let's see this summer if he will pursue going back to Houston.
995  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: December 26, 2022, 10:04:51 AM
Not sure about that, PBA announce it before that they will bring guest teams but for now they need to complete these finals and the upcoming FIBA engagements, might be possible that they are not bringing any updates yet regarding to this, but for sure if they have changes or if they will proceed to that original plan they will give updates.

I hope they do bring back guest teams after FIBA. And maybe they should bring just as strong as the dragons if not stronger. Having a strong guest team brings up the competitiveness of the Local teams. This also exposes the local team to a level of international competition. Maybe this program of the PBA could help our players reach a higher level in international competitions like FIBA or the Olympics.
996  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: December 26, 2022, 09:00:12 AM

Took it before the game started.
Again, Merry Christmas to all.

Merry Christmas to you!!! You hit a jackpot there. That is one lucky bet.

Here are the result for the games today I got to admit I did lose faith in the Warriors but even though I lost the bet I was happy that they won Draymond Green did a remarkable job today and I think he needs to do it again the next game,

2 out of 3, not bad for a Christmas day bet. I think most of us bet for the Grizzlies to win against the Warriors. They are missing Wiggins and Curry in their lineup. No one expected for them to beat the Grizzlies, but I guess the Warriors do not want to disappoint the home fans. Poole and Klay carried the load and succeeded.
997  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: December 26, 2022, 08:34:06 AM

If I am not mistaken it is the last year of Westbrooks contract, and they have only Lebron and AD for more than just one year, that means they are going to actually drop to a very very low salary levels, and they will have open books for anyone.

Lebron signed a two-year extension with a player option the last year. AD has a contract until 2025 with an early termination on the last year. So the Lakers still have these two-giant contracts for two years. They will be able to open $47 million when Westbrooks's contract end. I do not know if that will be enough to get what they need to surround AD and Lebron with the cast they need to get a championship. They have no other asset they can use to trade. They have no first picks to use for trading.

Good contenders in the West now IMO are the following teams.

1-Nuggets
2-Dallas
3-LA Clippers

Those 3 hot teams are capable of moving forward and bring good competitions with other playoff contenders from the West. Maybe we can also add NOP, Memphis and the Suns.

All are good at adjusting and with a healthy squad, we can count them through the competitions with the
rising stars are really tough from the west side, it will be good for the fans to see more competitive squad
in bringing entertaining playoff series.

I am still not considering NOP as a contender this season. They are still very young and inexperienced. Though they are at the top of the rankings right now, it is just the regular season. It will be different when playoffs begin. Also, I only consider the Clippers a contender if Kawhi will be able to remain healthy in the playoffs. Otherwise, they are good for the second round. And even though GSW looks bad right now, I still consider them a contender. They are a different beast in the playoffs.
998  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: December 26, 2022, 08:10:46 AM
What would happen in game 2? Are they going to play Powell already?

As far as I know, Powell is already out of the conference that's why we should not at least expect his return. Even though it's reported that he is attending practice, he is not 100% capable to return on his best. If Dragons will be activated again next conference, it's good for them not to risk anything and just allow Nicholson to do his job.

I also like the action of both teams idling the ball at the last minute of the game with no such movements and just waiting instead for the final buzzer.

Too bad then, the Bay Area Dragon needs Powell the most in the finals. He is the scoring machine the Dragons need to overcome the hassle defense of Ginebra. I guess they have to make do with whatever Nicholson can bring to the table. It will depend on the coach to adjust their play to fully utilize Nicholson against Ginebra.

Is there any confirmation that the Bay Area Dragons will be back next conference? I read before there was a plan to bring guest teams regularly, but I was not able to follow that news if it will push through. And if they do bring a guest team, it might not be the Dragon. It can be another team. They have to give their best now, they may not have another chance.
999  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: December 26, 2022, 04:26:41 AM
But I confess that I am extremely surprised with the victory the Warriors had against the Gryzllies (that was my only bet, and I still lost lol)

Sorry for both of us. Grizzlies winning against the Warriors is also one of the lines in my parlay. Klay Thompson and Jordan Poole play very well in this game, they overwhelmed the Grizzlies.

The game between Denver Nugget and Phoenix Suns is very tight. It is a close game. Both scorers from both teams have not contributed significantly yet in the offense. Murray is still zero points in 12 minutes of action. Devin Booker is just 2 points.
