This looks like a bull trap, alas return to normal of this years bubble.

Too bad bitcoinica is gone.

its not a trap either way

Volume looks strong even at these "high" prices

we will most likely go down (just cuz we went up so fast ) but not by much and not fast.

a few years from now a long term view will reveal a never ending and increasing strong bull run.  Cheesy
17662  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: June 21, 2012, 06:29:47 PM
I also share this sentiment. These volatile price fluctuations do little to instill confidence in those that wish to use Bitcoins as a potential long term option for wealth preservation.

I don't think so, i think the bitcoin community need to expand, and last summer's price-rising helped alot.
We need another one to reach the edge of "network effect".
If we the community are big enough, the price will be more stable.

I agree with the need for more people using bitcoin for their day to day purchasing needs.

The price is never going to be stable, it doesn't matter how many merchants there are. Look at the volatile price fluctuations of gold. Not even the dollar (or goods priced in dollars) and euro are stable.

well if more then 80% of coins are used to buy good / services
the overall size of the bitcoin continuity doesn't grow or shrink significantly
and speculators think this status quo will hold for a very long time ( and they trade adoringly )
maybe then we'll see very stable prices

I think we are heading toward this, but we are not their yet.... give it 10 years
17663  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: June 21, 2012, 05:20:02 PM
but why sell at 6.7 if you can at 7+ Huh

Because if its anything like the last time we got around this price. The price dropped by 30% in less then 2hrs.
chart pls

Here is a link Smiley easy to do if you want to review the history (since I gather you were not there)

You can set the date to 1 day trade and see it by the min or seconds if you wish.

Remember that its past history. Anything can happen.

the famous bitcoinia long squeeze

17664  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: June 21, 2012, 04:08:49 AM

it would seem that volume is going up along with price

to me this screams legit correction and not manipulation.

i think we are very close too but haven't found the top, and the bottom is a hell of alot closer then most think

stabilize at 6 point crazy for a while, and then move up and over 8, and then a slow and steady drop to 6 dot ridiculous

my money is waiting for 6 dot ridiculous  Wink

17665  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: June 21, 2012, 03:51:25 AM
The ask wall is there to scare people into selling so the manipulator can accumulate before breaking $7.2. We're in an upward channel in a strong trend.

There is no manipulator.  The ask wall is there because its owner is hoping to sell 20k+ bitcoins at that price.

How could I tell if its someone attempting to manipulate the market, or just selling their btc? You seem very knowledgeable and I'm looking to learn.

the wall gets tested with a few hunders coins
if it holds then ya... someone really does want to sell and its not a "fake wall"
but i think even the "fake walls" are real, they just got scared and pulled out, trying to get a better price
after you've looked at and traded on the market, you'll start see that... believe it or not the bids and asks are people trying to buy or sell.

and all my experience tells me 1 of 2 things will happen now

the wall gets bought and we keep going up
OR
the books are flipped and we start going down

if you see more asks pill up...

market manipulation?

Didn't you spend the last month saying it was going to 8 in just a few weeks?  and you bail out now  *shakes head*..

Day trading is not a crime!

6.10 by the end of the weekend, 8$ 2 weeks later Wink
17676  Economy / Speculation / Re: Rally!!!!! on: June 20, 2012, 04:47:26 PM
It was funny to see all that cautious selling below $6.5. Now they'll have to buy back!

One thing I've learned over the past year, you pretty much always get a chance to buy back below your sell point.  If I had sold below $6.5 I wouldn't be worried at all right now.

remember every time you learn something the market adjusts itself for it  Wink
