I am back in. Price so low, drama of other POS coins so high.

What is with the website though? Change the link to the mintfund or whatever if the old site is gone, no?

I am thinking this should be the coin logo. The torch is a universal and everyone understands what it symbolizes. Since it is a global currency we should refrain from making it too "Amercianized".

Really like it! I think the chalice should be GOLD. A silver hand holding a gold torch which burns the flame of liberty.

One last thing - I really think having the name ' L I B E R T Y  C O I N ' stretched around the rim on the top would seal the deal (or in a circle all the way around the coin). To affect large populations you want to work at the subconscious/unconscious level marketing-wise ... meaning Libertycoin should have the look and feel of the Liberty Dollar. Consider that the physical Liberty Dollar is something already DESIRABLE and collectible, therefore people will IMMEDIATELY identify with wanting to own them. This logo is already far enough removed from being Americanized IMO, so I would be using this to Libertycoin's advantage:)

+1 That could look pretty nice, with the silver background.

I agree. Great name and branding, and if it looks more like a coin it is easier for mainstream adoption later. Long term goals are important. Just holding myself, I like the potential here.
1783  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ASIC Resistant on: May 20, 2014, 09:15:08 PM
Price means nothing at this stage without the main feature being implemented and vendors accepting DRK.

As soon as this happens, the price will rocket. Literally

+1

Yes, some of us remember that happening in the early days of Bitcoin. If I could go back in time I would have saved up all those cheap BTC, but I had no idea how much demand would drive up the price then. Now, I do. Bitcoin is going up in value, going mainstream, Wal Street, and leaving the Darknet, eventually. "Backdoor for Police" experimental Zerocoin isn't really a competitor, in my view, although technically fascinating... It is all DRK.

Who votes for DELETING EVERYTHING BARABBAS IS POSTING HERE?

Why would you want to do that.  I have never seen anything as crazy as the Barabbas posts.  Plus, he is part of the Iconic crew.  You seem to love Iconic, why hate on his crew?

Read my posts. I have my differences with IE, I hated all the Troll/FuD campaign of his "crew" if you want call em so.

Okey for now a lower price is welcome for me, move on barabbas do your worst Wink let it tic. tic tic

Oh boy, all the choirboys from BC seem to have flocked here... this is going to be fun indeed... like a party from hell, kind of way...

The funniest thing is to be called "part of the IE crew"... talk about a misconception.

And yes, by the way, WHEN AND IF I give a shit about what happens to Libertycoin, I will try to put some common sense on your ideas. But I have to admit this coin is, for now, in very preliminary stages of development so any investment is a very risky one for no amount of hype will achieve anything but a P&D. That said, if traders come in, there's a chance. First, someone should at least pretend to sell me this pen... I mean what does it bring to the table that is innovative and/or different? Who holds the coins (this is not just important, it is vital for crooks will be exposed and it will send the coin to the wc/spa/maza disposable rest place). Not yet time for me to do research deeply, since I will not buy over 6k -and I still have some BC left to dump too-, but it'd be nice to have the "enthusiasts" -or the dev- to try and sell me this pen.

i have, by the way, found the perfect "coin" -it's much more than a coin, it's a platform- but I won't name it here unless there's interest because it is possible to build this coin or any other ON TOP of their platform. Unfortunately, they have a "distribution problem" of some significance. So I'll have to keep out on that account but would gladly jump on any coin that takes full advantage of their architecture.

Anyway, let the fireworks continue, by all means. Get that volume, a couple of dumps and I'm in.

Ok, I will pretend to sell you this pen. Most cryptos are linguistically doomed from the outset. They don't have a chance in hell of ever being anything other than a PnD. Geeks come up with the names, I guess, and perhaps many of them lack basic understanding of marketing and branding. I really don't know why they are so bad at it, but they are. Most coin names are downright awful, repellent, absurd, and nothing that could ever be real money. No businesses will accept most of them, some just make me chuckle even saying them. Everyone has to be in on the con that buys, promotes, or pretends they have any sort of lasting value. They don't. Cross 90% of cryptos off the list, they are worthless long term.

The reason I like this coin is simple, and some simple things matter a lot in psychology. It has an *amazing* name, "Libertycoin." Simple, and powerful. It could translate into mainstream adoption,  long term, by libertarians, anti-government types, patriots, tea-party sorts, freedom lovers, philosophical purists. It could be the mainstream Darkcoin for people scared or the Dark, or afraid of the notorious Bitcoin!

Caveat, that is all now dependent on if they can get the anonymous tech implemented. They came to me and asked my opinion, and I told them, whatever they do, don't make any announcements until it is ready! They told me they had already tweeted asking for a developer, and here we are... Had they kept quiet it would have been much better, but they didn't know, and they didn't ask in advance. Don't make promises or announcements ahead of time, all of us are sick of it. Lastly, don't buy the "pen" if you don't understand what is in a name. If you do, buy the pen.

Could anon actually work against us?  Does it raise ethical questions?  I'm all for anon if there are ways to implement it without worrying about future audits or shutdowns due to regulation.

I think it is a good feature to add and it will take years before all of the legal ramifications get sorted out. I think anonymous transactions along with POS is going to be a game changer. Then add in just over 16 million coins and that is the icing on the cake.

I also would like to mention that LibertyCoin stakes very fast and often. It seems like I stake every hour..lol

Agreed. Obvious winner. Everyone just buy some and be happy.
1786  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LIBERTYCOIN][XLB] X11 | 100% POS | No IPO | No Premine | Now on Mintpal on: May 19, 2014, 01:32:09 PM
I don't care about all this BC drama I just want to know if someone is SERIOUSLY working on anon features and will have them out soon?

What I do know is some people behind the bounty asked me about it some time ago, what I thought of Darksend for Libertycoin, or something like it, and I told them it was a no brainer. As Libertycoin has a good name, and if they could pull that off that would dramatically increase the value and utility. I believe they were serious about the large bounty, and had legit real names. (not sure if they want that mentioned, and I actually told them not to say anything about it until it was done, but they were tweeting about the bounty already...)

I know one of the people on the VTC team, and he confirmed it was all for real, according to him, and I bought in. So, I am pretty sure it is going to happen if it is technically possible for a full POS coin to have some sort of anonymous implementation. Exactly how it would work or how long it takes is anyones guess. My understanding is the community sort of took over the coin as it does have a great name and logo, and that is a good start and a better foundation than most. Unit count is good, timing. All the basics are in place for a potentially winning coin in my opinion. I bought a good amount of it and holding to see if it does catch any value for the success of my favorite coin DRK. I can imagine it sort of like a mainstream Darkcoin with a happier name. Nothing is a sure thing, but there is some talent behind it now to my knowledge.

Agreed, new site looks very nice!

I admit I was a cynic, but they are actually doing the work! More innovation and new ideas than most other cryptos combined. Likely the best long term investment in cryptos, really. I kept waiting for them to run off with the money. (sorry) Instead, they are constantly making new projects and progress. They even made a search engine that pays people in cryptos to use it, and appears to offer better non biased results at the same time.

http://www.karmahangout.com/

Look at all the work, crazy... Very impressive. The market cap on this is so low, about as close as a sure thing as you are going to get.

i still belive in XLB!

Me too, but we need to build a strong community and weed out the destructive forces like IconicExpert and others. Really hope that XLB has a sharp price drop and these guys dump and go to some other coin.

You hope for a sharp price drop? The unit count is comparable to CINNI, and CINNI wasn't nearly as developed at the time it was hovering around 11k sats. Price seems low. New website looks like it is coming along nicely too.

Looks good, B like Bitcoin, DRK clone in theory, but I would not count on that at all. At this price we should just assume the Dev will not follow through, that way, no shattered dreams. If the dev is for real it will go much higher. If not, contingency plans should be made? lol..

Whales trying to buy more again after the recent big orders... trying to buy 15 BTCs worth on mintpal, floor looking more stable.

There is no rush. Please let me mine and accumulate more. Wink

who would actually invest in a coin where the 67th page of the ANN thread has a bounty for a "dev" to integrate the most integral part of their coin?  Am i missing something here.. why not launch a coin thats already finished (or at least has a plan)? .. check out the DRM thread.. seems this is the new scam nowadays.. okay, don't flame me, i'll try to read the other 65 pages..

Libertycoin has a solid name, in theory it could be a mainstream Darkcoin, to a point. I just got burned with Dreamcoin, so, you are right. Stick with established cryptos that have proven themselves. If you want to make lots of money getting in early, you have to take bigger risks though. Just how it goes. I am hoping this one works out.
1793  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Dreamcoin [DRM] - X11 - PoW/PoS - Poloniex - Bittrex ~ 15% PoS! on: May 17, 2014, 03:01:45 AM
I was so busy with DRK I missed that all my dreams were all slipping away. Oh well, that sucks. Funny thing is, the guy will never make a coin with potential again. Missed his shot.
1794  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ASIC Resistant on: May 15, 2014, 01:51:03 AM
Holy crap my small statement made some buzz.  I love dark coin and I think its technology is amazing, but if you can't spot the micro bubble here after btc and all these altcoins I think y'all are daft Smiley

I will support this coin in the future, hopefully in a big way.

Or, as a real long, support it now and dampen any dumpers... I think your full-of-crap is showing.

I'm up about 1100% now. Wanna know why? Cuz I'm not full of crap. I bought in ignoring the price. I bought in because it's good tech. Not because I wanted to get rich. It means I don't do dumb things like daytrad, panic buy, or panic sell. Or say that I'll support a good idea as soon as it crashes... lols.

DRK actually went down after all of my buys. Mostly because I went in fat enough to bubble c-cex all by myself. I didn't care if I, personally, pushed the number up from .004 to .005 and boned myself in the buy short-term. See where I am now?

I bought BTC at $4. See where I am now? Yeah, it was up to $1200 at one point. Did I lose money? No, I'm up from $4 to $450. Derp.

FUD gamblers never learn... They think they have FA crystal balls guiding them... Make good decisions based on facts and science, not predicting the future. That's all you really need to do.

Exactly. Do the work.
1795  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ASIC Resistant on: May 15, 2014, 12:15:07 AM
The four most expensive words in the English language are "this time it’s different."

How about "This time it's exactly the same as BTCs and LTCs first real notice."

Precisely. Best to study old LTC charts. Funny thing is, I was posting about how high it could go this morning. Obviously Darkcoin is only to be used for legal purchases. (Disclaimer) Anyway, as it is relevant I will repost what I was sharing with a private group I run. Clearly this is speculation and not investment advice. I have been mining and recommending DRK since the start, at least that people should do the research on it and make their own calls. I do not sell it, I gather more, that is something I have been very happy with however.

(repost from my group)

How high can Darkcoin go? It is really about the marketplace creating demand over time, beyond just speculation. The marketplace is not Amazon or even Overstock, it is the Darknet and we all know it. (or should) Countless millions are spent on the Darknet all the time, nobody knows exactly how much, but it is vast.

The crypto most used is Bitcoin which is not anonymous, and even with Dark Wallet it isn't as good at it as Darkcoin is. If people are buying something harmless and legal, this should be fine. If they are buying Marijuana (or other things) which are still illegal in most locations, they might really want to stay as anonymous as possible. Dark Markets appear to be in progress that will accept Darkcoin. Of course they also will accept Bitcoin. So once those are operational it will be very interesting to see what people decide to use. The riskier crypto, or the more private one?

Given the choice for consumers between a much faster more anonymous currency, or a slower easier to trace crypto like BTC, under extreme scrutiny, I think Darkcoin has a good shot. So, how high can Darkcoin go if it actually wins market share? Nobody can be sure, but assuming it gains the market cap of Litecoin, eventually, around $70 a coin. Assuming it starts approaching Bitcoin or "takes over" as the preferred Darknet Crypto, DRK could be worth hundreds a coin!

Without the Marketplace and real world adoption this is all just pure speculation however. So take it at only that. What we know for certain is the tech is sound and built from the ground up with proven technologies that are extremely reliable. The dev team is also one of the best. Most traders I know, that know cryptos, consider DRK one of the only Alts worth investing in.

What about Zerocash, will it be the preferred Darknet Crypto? Various alts? Hard to say, but they won't be the first. As they are experimental it will be some time before they are able to try to challenge Darkcoin (or Bitcoin). Assuming the markets are taking DRK in the future and people are satisfied, newer anon Alts may just like regular Alts today trying to take on Bitcoin. Perhaps with the key difference being something akin to Satoshi never quitting on Bitcoin, and gathering a team of the best to keep working on it full time, improving Bitcoin constantly to keep ahead.
1796  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ASIC Resistant on: May 15, 2014, 12:05:33 AM
Here is a quote from John Templeton:
"The four most expensive words in the English language are "this time it’s different.""-
The thing is, in a sea of shitcoins, DRK *is* different.

Nailed it.

The mac wallet crashes when I tried to install.   I have 10.7.5

anyone got one that works?

thanks.

Try one more time after the install attempt for Mac. I read somewhere there was some reason for it, and oddly, that is all it took for me at least. (after 2nd attempt worked great and always starts, mavericks)

Staking work perfect!  Cool

Just unlocked my wallet how longd it take? Btw how many coins u have?

Opened 30 min ago. Instantly 2 staking start. Waiting next staking Smiley

Im telling u, 95% of the POS wallets out there dont stake and die shit. This guys a proffesional coder. If anyones interested in helping with anything contact him please.

That is also the best looking icon I have ever seen for the staking, perhaps a minor detail, but it shows polish and talent. My Mac wallet staked and worked perfectly. No snags, no forks, just worked. Nice for a change compared to many coins.

Nice coin,I like this one!

This could be next big coin after Blackcoin and Cinnicoin imo.

I agree.

It is my understanding that the dev has to implement the zerocoin functionality in the code. Can't expect the zerocoin people to do that. It is gpl licensed I believe so their work can be used but will need to be implemented, tested and then tested some more before being released. I am in no way speaking for the dev but just pointing out my understanding of what is going on.

From the dev earlier in this thread:
<clip>....Yes Zerocoin development is separate from Dreamcoin, always will be, I will be the one to integrate Zerocoin into Dreamcoin entirely....<endclip>

That is correct to my understanding as well. The dev was even in chat on Poloniex the other day and answered all my questions. Even before any anonymous tech is worked out and (hopefully) implemented, this coin is *very* nice. The price is almost 40x lower than BC when you consider unit count. If the dev sticks with it long term this could be huge. (or if people figure out the basics with how undervalued the coin is right now) I admit the name seemed silly to me at first, but now I think it fits. This could be a "Dreamcoin", why not? Has to be some amazing coins that come out now and then.

Buy a few dirt cheap and join in, not much risk at this price. Even as a POS coin it is very underpriced. In the past I have suggested DRK .11 cent, when it started, BC 1200 sats, CINNI at 2900 sats. This one looks it could be a big winner. Accessible developer too!
