1781  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner Block Erupter USB group buy (US/Canada) on: May 09, 2013, 03:51:05 AM
I have sent payment, and emailed my shipping info.

I have never signed a message before in bitcoin, so I have no idea if I did it right.  If I did do it right, I have no idea how the receiving end of things sees my message?

when signing a message, it doesn't automatically get sent anywhere. you have to take the address you used to sign, the message and the resulting signature and manually send it to whoever you want to have it.

i got your email fine though.

Thank you so much JaredR26 and furuknap for answering my questions!

One last question, can I vote if I keep my share in the BTC-TC "format" or do I have to request for it to be converted into a normal direct share?

have we had anything to vote ON?

If this has not been ordered could you put me down for 5?

will u ship to europe? if so what is the end price with shipping.

yes i will, but the price is VERY hard to determine. there's a european group buy (i think it's still open) that would likely be better for you. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=195037.0

however i have agreed with several people to ship to other countries (UK, new zealand, china) with the caveat they are willing to pay extra shipping once i know what it'll cost.

I will buy one if total price with shipping is <= 2.5BTC to Portugal Europe

at the moment i don't have any way to guarantee the price is as you state, shipping being an unknown. but at the same time, i'd be shocked if it were higher, even to Portugal. i'll add you to the list.
Sending a priority mail small flat rate box to portugal cost $23.95.
Are planning on using parcel post or priority mail?, if you are going to use priority mail you should order some free small and medium flat rate boxes:
https://store.usps.com/store/browse/subcategory.jsp?categoryId=subcatMSS_PriorityMail&categoryNavIds=catGetMailingShippingSupplies%3AsubcatMSS_PriorityMail
And custom forms for international shipping:
https://store.usps.com/store/browse/productDetailSingleSku.jsp?categoryNavIds=catGetMailingShippingSupplies%3asubcatMSS_International&categoryNav=false&navAction=push&navCount=0&productId=P_FORM_2976&categoryId=subcatMSS_International
And the free envelopes for the forms:
https://store.usps.com/store/browse/productDetailSingleSku.jsp?categoryNavIds=catGetMailingShippingSupplies%3asubcatMSS_International&categoryNav=false&navAction=push&navCount=0&productId=P_FORM_2976_E&categoryId=subcatMSS_International

well, that's useful. Cheesy given the size of the smallest flatrate box, i wasn't planning to use them. even for twenty units, it's excessive space. i'll make a custom box with some foam for padding.

thanks for these links, though! useful.
1787  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner Block Erupter USB group buy (US/Canada) on: May 08, 2013, 09:05:01 PM

.. Now blockchain.info.  Does anyone know how to sign a messages with them?  I've never done it.  It seems like it should be possible from the 'import/export' menu (confusingly enough):

  https://blockchain.info/wallet/features

but I don't see it there on my login.

How can I sign a Bitcoin message?

Please log in to your My Wallet account, navigate to the 'Receive Money' tab, and click the Action option. Then choose sign message

WTF is it doing there?  I guess it's no more or less confusing that having it in the 'import/export' area as documented on the thing I found.  At least it has the feature though this is cool.

It does not seem like blockchain.info really armors the signed text.  Might be good to sign a more terse message rather than an extensive one when using blockchain.info.  I did both as I was fooling around and communicating with ~arklan about this.

Thanks!

and it all came out fine. Cheesy

besides, if AM has 10,000 of those suckers, and have sold, what, 5 or 6 batches we know of to group buys on the forum, i think there's no real need to rush it.

I'm fairly confident that everybody in this group wants these in their hands as soon as practical.  A weeks delay seems like an opportunity wasted.

granted. time is everything, of course. but people need time to get funds in order. i mean, they didn't have any garuntee we'd get enough reservations. so it's not unreasonable to want to purchase coin specifically for this. and since i've already stated the plan when i announced the end of open orders, its what we'll do.

sucks, i know. sorry.
1790  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner Block Erupter USB group buy (US/Canada) on: May 08, 2013, 08:15:45 PM
i'm not planning to have john submit the order until 7 days after the "accepting new orders" window closes, so more then 8 days remain. if there's an issue we can discuss it as that deadline approaches.

Why wait?  I'd rather get the order in ASAP and reserve our place in the shipping queue.  Just because you don't see pending orders in this forum doesn't mean that there aren't orders being placed.

well, as i've said, we're closing the accpeting of orders tomorrow/the next day. (check the timer in the OP) and after that it's just a matter of payment collecting. if we get it all before then, so be it. if not? then we give people the week to sort things out.

Given Cash -> Btc time, I am not expecting to have enough coins in my wallet until early next week.

Will the order go in at 300, or will there be a firm order date?

yes, pricing applies to canada too.

Bulk orders over 10 units get USPS overnight shipping.

I just want to nail down how much additional we should be sending along to cover shipping.  A previous post quoted an overnight rate of $20.

Could we assume an upper bound on the shipping rate of ~.25btc (~$27 at current exchange rate of 108usd/btc)?

Also, would the amount allotted for shipping go to your address, rather than the escrow address?

all money goes to the escrow address.

as to the amount... a part of me wants to say "send the full, and i'll refund whats left" but that's obviously not exactly an ideal. hmm.
1793  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner Block Erupter USB group buy (US/Canada) on: May 08, 2013, 07:27:22 PM
I have to back out. I had to pull funds for another project. Apologies.

understood. it happens.

note: i've gotten several pm's about "how will john know it's me who paid, since it's one address?" i don't have an answer. ask john, i guess?

If ~arklan receives conflicting claims, he can contact me (and the other for he will not know who is legit.)

If a dispute arises about my payment, John K. can PM me a specific small amount to pay and I can prove myself to be the legitimate claimant by doing so.

There are probably more ways to do it.  Hopefully it will not come to that.  But it could, and it is one of the reasons I do not believe that either ~arklan or John k. were necessarily overcompensated for their efforts.  Or at least I'll be withholding judgement on it until everyone gets the devices in hand...if we ever do Smiley

also, i like this. i really hope we don't have any conflicts though... sigh.
1794  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner Block Erupter USB group buy (US/Canada) on: May 08, 2013, 07:26:58 PM
signed messages. include, in the email, a signed message proving ownership of the address.

I'm a bit of tard... Signing messages is not something I've done before. If someone could kindly give a primer on this, I would appreciate it.

I get that I need to send 33.6208 BTC to 1FFyoorSfwQC15Xv7zNZ4Lv5yZcM6WFKuF. I assume I would then send a signed message to that same address from Bitcoin-QT saying "Hey, that 33.6208 BTC was for Xian01" ?

close, but not quite. signing a message doesn't automatically require sending it anywhere. just include the result in the email.

Ok guys, payment and address time.

Please send your amount as listed in the spread sheet (2.1013 x units ordered) to john k. at his address listed in the OP: 1FFyoorSfwQC15Xv7zNZ4Lv5yZcM6WFKuF

Sooner we collect the funds, sooner we can place to order.

As for shipping info: send me an email at arklan.uthoslin AT gmail dot com including a confirmation of the payment transaction and the address you’d like your order shipped to.

Bulk orders over 10 units get USPS overnight shipping.

Note I will delete these emails after you’ve confirmed receipt of your usb miners.

ok, i gotta stop replying without finishing the thread...

arklan - Any indication from friedcat about securing a place in line?  That's the only reason to pay sooner that I can see.

not that i've hear,d no. Sad

as to your other post - yup. agreed. i'll be sending out the PM's with payment requests shortly.

yea, USPS will be the carrier.

i pm'd friedcat, and he has said we can pay anytime.

as to a hard stop: 48 hours from now, i will stop accepting orders. 7 days from then, payments to escrow will be expected to be completed and all money gathered.

so we'll send payment to friedcat in 9 days, basically.

i'll update the OP accordingly.

I haven't been following this closely, but to confirm, we won't be getting the sticks any quicker if we send payment quicker than this?
(In other words, waiting a week for payment is fine?)

Also, in case I forget about this, please send a PM when everything is in order.

correct.

and yea, i'm catching up on this thread then sending the pm's.

Speaking as a representatives for the bulk buyers (if I can presume), any order of 10 units or more should be shipped out USPS overnight.  It's only 20 USD.

Arklan - Does this sound OK?

If OP wants to do a S&H discount on "bulk" orders, great, but I don't mind either way.

I'll be a bit chafed if there isn't a discount on shipping for "bulk" orders.  ~$55 to ship 10 USB devices through USPS from UT to OR is exorbitant.

excellent idea.

alternatively - feel free to pm me to discuss discounting bulk orders.

What.  Out of all possibilities a few hours ago, this one seemed the most unlikely.

It is called a "cup-and-handle". It is a very bullish formation.

I will be able to post a summary of my trades in Gox in 5.-7. May to this thread if it is deemed to be orderly, and there is at least some public demand. I am quite satisfied with the outcome, and would like the others to learn the secrets as well. Please don't contact me personally if you are not willing and/or able to pay my consulting fee of 10,000mBTC/hour, prepaid in the increments of 15 minutes.

Are you legit autistic?

as someone on the autism spectrum, i can safely say he may well be nuts, but autistic? nah.

ten btc an hour consulting fee, prepaid in 15 minute increments... i really have no words to express my thoughts on this. even if his trading advice was reliably good.
