181  Economy / Reputation / Re: List of things Vod has done wrong. (Non-modded / Non-affiliated thread) on: September 25, 2020, 08:17:38 PM
Vod, I think you shouldn't worry too much about people posting right/wrong criticism about you. Let people come at you with what they got, its not gonna hurt you or your actual reputation. So long as you be truthful to yourself, and stay on the right side, there is nothing to fear, right?

I also think, you and Og should talk it out like normal adult people, instead of calling each other liars or any other nicknames yall have given each other. If QS and lauda can solve matters between one another, I am sure you two can do the same as well. Its 2020 afterall.
182  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Buy BTC with Bank Wire without Selfie on: September 18, 2020, 10:26:05 PM
It feels weird and sketchy when someone is fine with giving up their documents which has a pic of themselves in it but not a selfie which takes 1 second to click. hmm.

Anyways, I think you can use https://localcryptos.com/.

See this too: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5180421.0
183  Other / Meta / Re: Legendaries need love as well. on: September 04, 2020, 07:20:28 PM
I don't think it matters anyways. There's no use to merits other than you sharing it to others. I'd honestly just tell you to post where you feel comfortable with, don't worry about merit, you're doing just fine even without it.

As someone who doesn't receive merit alot, it doesn't affect me at all, so just you do you fam.
184  Economy / Reputation / Re: [Interviews] with Bitcointalk members on: August 29, 2020, 10:58:05 PM
I don't think I deserve to be interviewed at all, but zasad@ is taking a lot of effort for this and he reached out to me, so for that sake at least, here goes nothing:

Questions:

1. When and why did you become interested in cryptocurrencies?
I don't remember exactly, but it was years ago. A friend of mine told me about it, I didn't really care about it in the start, later on I started liking crypto a lot, did a few trades, and yeah.

2. When and why did you buy your first bitcoin?
I'd say around 2016-2017. I didn't invest right at the start, I just had a lucky charm that gave me a boost. The lucky charm is something I don't talk about, and I would like for it to be my secret.

3. How did you get on the forum?
Oh boy, it was years ago, did a few google searches regarding crypto, found reddit and btt on there. And yeah that's about it.

4.1. What prevents mass adoption of cryptocurrencies?
Scams. The fact that anyone can just make a crypto from dust doesn't help either. Also, the crypto community went from being pure enthusiasts to money begging bastards.

4.2. How do you think mass advertising of gambling projects has a positive effect on the development of the forum or harms the community?
I think it doesn't really effect the forum at all, in terms of the "community". People don't care if you're a gambling site or bit-shitty-connect, they will advertise for you so long as you pay for them. Pretty shitty if you ask me, but hey that's humans for you.

5. What do you think of the current Merit system and signature campaigns?  Do they harm the forum?
The merit system is fine. Signature campaigns have dried but I see there are quite a few coming back now, its a hit or miss thing. And as far as sig campaigns are concerned, it has ruined the forum's whole point of existence. People just post crap and spam big words to make them feel smart and get paid. I can't do that even if i tried, that's just not who i am.

6. The most useful forum topic? Most helpful users?
I'd say my favorite topic is Wall Observers Thread. That thread is just outright amazing. I'd love to have convos with the guys there(but I am scared, lowkey). There's everything in that one thread that the rest of the forum severely lacks: There's good moderation, amazing memes, like actual convos go on there like how discussion forums are supposed to be, and a bunch of very cool people. You guys have my respect!

Helpful Users: Suchmoon, QS, loyce, coolcryptovator, hilariousandco, JayJuangee, actually put the people from the whole chipmixer spreadsheet(frigging bunch of nerds, and all love to them, they overwhelm me very easily  Cry Cry) , and the WO thread guys. There are others whose posts I like reading, cant list them all can I?

7. 3 things you would implement on the forum?
Have a good communication between the admin team and the posters, better security(2fa and all), hire more mods and circulate some bitcoin with the community cause some of them deserve it.

8. Do you trade on exchanges or invest in projects?
I used to do this, yes. I want to get back to doing this, don't have the time for it Sad

9. Tell a story about your big profit or big loss?
Well, in a nutshell i lost two thousand fucking dollars on something that I don't even remember.

10. What do you think about the DEFI ecosystem?
I have never heard of it up until now, google searched it, just ask smarter people than me.

11. Is your anonymity a vital necessity or precaution?
One Hundred Percent a necessity. People don't understand privacy, and they need to teach this kinda stuff at school, but lets be real, that ain't gonna happen.

12. The last cryptocurrency book you read?
I am not a book guy.

13. Advise 3 cryptocurrencies/tokens for investment in the next 1-2 years?
Don't take my advice unless you also want a 2000$ loss (: .

14. How much will Bitcoin cost at the end of 2020?
Probably around 11k only I guess?

15. P.S. (Optional)
Forum has become extremely boring for me, its not the same. I want the old vibes Sad

185  Economy / Reputation / Re: [Interviews] with Bitcointalk members on: August 28, 2020, 11:10:03 PM
Wow, this is very very cool, its fun getting to know some of the OG's of bitcointalk. Some of them have very cool story, for reals.

Dude, you have to interview the mods, global mods and the admins. Chances are, most of them will be too busy to apply, but dammit try. I would love to read about them, as I just spend more time reading on this forum than actually posting(fml).

wait..does this mean you're the paparazzi of bitcointalk now?? "Exclusive interview with THE PHARMACIST NEVER SEEN BEFOREE (*NOT CLICKBAIT*)"
186  Other / Meta / Re: End of 2020, damn it. on: August 28, 2020, 10:35:43 PM
I agree but the egos of most people here is never gonna away. Drama has been somewhat less, but fuck does it still exist for the stupidest reasons. Man I used to love shitting on the circle of idiots who kept making alts to "frame" Lauda and cult, but goddamn it has becoming boring. Everything has become quite a bore and too redundant/repetitive.

Forum was heckin fun to be at, during the whole aTriz-Alia, nullius drama, or the hate game against The Pharmacist and Actmyname in the old DT system.

Everything is very eugh right now. So much shit has happened, and it sucks:

- Bruno and Zepher are dead. RIP Sad Am still not over bruno's death, it was the same guy i was chatting on telegram with and now....he is just not there Sad

- QS and Lauda have settled their beef(which was very mature of QS, props to him)

- Lutpin is ?? ?? ??

- 3/4th of the posters have left. Well fuck, this is too sad.
187  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: please help me {cry of help} on: August 21, 2020, 11:19:33 PM
Okay here's what I am thinking now, I will sell my bitcoins in localcrytpos, as I found multiple sellers with bank transfer and all, so I sell btc for my local currency, and then worry about paypal later.

My only issue is, I have never used localcrytpos before, seems legit, still scared a bit tho. Thots?

It has to be better than LocalBitcoins... they are t-r-a-s-h nowadays.

Same for Paxful.
Honestly, yeah.

Localbitcoins was my favorite go-to exchange man. Fucking KYC and GDPR ruined everything. Sad As for paxful, nah fuck that awful-shitfuck-website. Like ARGH, can we have a good enough p2p website, localcryptos is good, but not as good as LBC.
188  Other / Meta / Re: Plagiarism- reporting after ban & should all posts be purged. on: August 21, 2020, 05:05:03 PM
I'm confused as to the exact meaning of the above (and it could just be my scrambled-eggs brain).  Are you saying members caught for plagiarism are being permabanned or is nothing being done?  And are you saying that moderators aren't even considering ban appeals anymore?
I think what he is saying is that the forum mods usually go for a perma ban 99% of the time as opposed to a sig ban. And when people get caught for plagiarism, mods do ban them. That isnt the issue here, I dont think.

So the question is, should there be a point when they have had "X" posts that were plagiarized or "X" percentage of their posts were plagiarized that they really do get nuked and all their posts removed.
I am just using this person as an example since I saw it. There have been others where they have many posts that were copy / paste and yet although banned their posts stayed.

I think after a certain point they should all go. How does anyone else feel.

-Dave

*also full disclosure I don't think your 1st offense should be perma-ban; a 30 day forum ban and 1 year sig ban is fine. Next one you're gone.
From what I know, only new accounts can get nuked below member status. Others can only be banned? Don't quote me on this, I remember this very vaguely.

And as for mods not handling a ban, maybe because there wasn't enough proof or mods just didnt see it.
189  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN]: buy handmade facemasks, pouches, scarf's with bitcoin on: August 21, 2020, 04:50:32 PM
Okay I love this website, its pretty cute.

The google plugin works, at least for me. Proof:

Before:

After:

Also, what if you make the default language English instead of dutch, in the small dropdown list option?

I just realized, the google plugin only works in one page, it goes back to dutch again. Also, make the cart auto update, when people change the quantity. Alsooo, when people choose to add a product to cart, keep an option for quantity, it helps user experience. The products are very very cute though. I really like it.

If this site is too much of a work, try selling in some famous merch stores, you guys will get better sales and a bigger audience. Goodluck!
190  Other / Meta / Re: Will this be sufficient proof? No, so? on: August 21, 2020, 03:01:38 PM
Well, there could be a very slight possibility of the person who makes the post here is also the same person who posted on telegram, and there is too much verification and honestly, it is just not worth it. Its waste of Blood, sweat and tears(not really but ok).

Don't worry about it, if I were you, I would rather just go sleep.

No longer needed.
192  Economy / Digital goods / [WTB] Amazon.com gift card on: August 20, 2020, 05:56:26 PM
Hello, I want to buy around 100$ of amazon.com credit, giftcard works too, at 80% discounted price in exchange for bitcoin. Trusted traders only, you send first, or you send to a trusted escrow, and cover escrow fees.

Want a quick transaction so let me know. Will ignore offers from people I am not comfortable with. Rates are negotiable.
193  Other / Meta / Re: [Ref] Hey theymos I've got a brilliant idea (honest!) & other symbols of use on: August 18, 2020, 03:03:43 PM
Can't we just move to the new forum, instead of asking for new elements to be added on this old-forum? Its been so many years that the forum has been under development, so it only makes more sense.

Is there an ETA for when the new forum is to be fully out? I see the github commits on the discord bot, but other than that not much Sad

195  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk.org YouTube channel? on: August 14, 2020, 11:08:18 PM
A udemy course? That sound strange but potentially interesting of an idea. I'd much rather list stuff where people have to pay via watching an ad as I doubt many people would pay for a udemy course?

I had a thought about doing something with YouTube and the most notable posts voting a while back, I don't know what happened to the list though? I think steamtyme also did well with his videos so we'd have to ensure we didn't conflict.

As someone who's biased towards ltc (and no one else likes ltc) I'm happy to look over content produced to check it for bias (I assume my bullishness on btc won't interfere with that too much either).

Perhaps the reason things aren't being done is potentially down to people not knowing where to look.
We might get away with adding a thread in new forum software on active developments going on surrounding the forum (the potential ecpensipn into YouTube if it's done and how to test the new forum software).

Would anyone be interested in a forum telegram channel and potentially group chat? No idea how I'd ensure not getting a bunch of random reputation flags if I made one but as a spin off project I don't think it sounds an awful idea?
Well, someone had suggested a telegram channel before and it got shot down. And oh, there is a discord server, but that server isn't doing it too well either(am not seeing enough movement here)

I definitely feel the courses would help SO many people, if done right. Idiots like me, who are too lazy and never bothered to learn cool stuff could always learn from those courses. If only something is done about it Sad.

196  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk.org YouTube channel? on: August 13, 2020, 10:31:12 PM
He has no time for this, that's why he posted it as an idea with a question and that's why the community have to gather and point out some candidates for the task. People who are really into what is going on in the forum and want to do it.
One thing I've learned here in the forum, if you want some nice things to happen, you have to work for it, they are not just dropped by theymos as gift, we as a community have to do something to make it happen. We can't just wait and say "Theymos do this, theymos do that". His name maybe sounds like a god's one but he is a human as we are (except for LoyceV, we all know he is an AI) and seems like one really busy human being.
If we don't gather, find people who want to participate and finally present them to him for approval, it won't happen. It is exactly the same situation with EpochTalk. If we want it, we have to test it first and report the bugs, and when all is done, then we will get it.
While I agree with you that things here usually happen, when someone else makes the effort to improvise things around here, I feel like regarding this topic,  people can't do much. This place will become a portfolio submitting messhole, if people were to work for anything(be it their youtube "career", or teaching skills for udemy etc).

If bitcointalk is to have a youtube channel ever, the admins should at least give out some info on how they want the whole thing to be executed, and also privately start messaging users whom the admins trust, and get things rolling. Otherwise, I am afraid nothing much is going to happen Sad

At least if not a youtube channel, and a udemy course, the new forum should have sub-forums where only certain people are allowed to post/review the content, and those sub forums could have all sorts of courses, and videos. That'd be pretty dope, if you ask me.
197  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk.org YouTube channel? on: August 13, 2020, 06:54:37 PM
Yes please, can we make this a thing, theymos could choose 4-5 people to manage, edit, and create content on the youtube channel.

Theymos designating people for this should be mandatory for that channel in my opinion. Certain communities (*cough* BCH/BSV) will attempt to create drama around it and they're already uploading video attacks against him so people who won't fan the flames need to be chosen for this.
Drama is bound to happen, no matter who is chosen. Internet is just full of drama, pedophiles and memes and oh, cryptohunter(is he still here idek). SOO, you can't stop the inevitable. I guess what we could do is, have a reality check, and understand the concept of "It iz what it iz".

Yes please, can we make this a thing, theymos could choose 4-5 people to manage, edit, and create content on the youtube channel. And they could have special status/badges here on the forum too.
That's a cool idea--I'm sure this forum has some veteran members who also have extensive experience in everything it would take to pull off a YT channel.  I wish I could contribute in some way, but I'm neither interesting nor talented as far as content creation goes.  Hopefully Theymos will see this and chime in.
Yes PLEASE theymos see this! Let's do something really cool, get in the whole courses idea sorted out and upload it on udemy, have a youtube profile for bitcoin/bitcointalk related stuff. AND A TWITTER for roasting roger ver and for the memes, duh!

save 2020 pls.
198  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: dont hate my title ok? on: August 13, 2020, 04:31:14 PM
What if I don't live in US, Canada, Europe or Australia?

That's the point of Bitcoin...

You find a trade partner in one of those countries and then get it from them in exchange for your Bitcoin.

You use the numbers from the cards to make the purchase online.
I realized I didnt read your message properly. Apologies.

I will keep this in mind, but very unlikely to go with this.

No KYC is a problem, but if you change your mind (suchmoon's reason is something I agree) I'd check Wirex and Coinbase Europe now as they've both recently become principal partners with either Visa/Mastercard, so likely won't face the problem we all used to have with all those providers who used to rely on 3rd party issuers.

Amazon vouchers are available without KYC on Bitpanda (you've to sell BTC and request withdrawal as vouchers) for about EUR10,000 lifetime limit, as far as I recall, but too lazy to check now if that's updated since AMLD5. If you're willing to go an extra step or two to convert that Amazon voucher into paypal... or find a seller of virtual cards... that's an option?
oh coinbase! I forgot about that awfully-awful exchange. I have to look into if coinbase is supported, oop-

I realize bitpanda operates in EU(according to this), so can I sell some btc if I am not in the EU region?\\

When you intend to go with a debit card then you will encounter KYC. So the best and real-time solution has given by suchmoon. Although you can't trust forum users with PayPal, you can sell your bitcoin here for your local currency which would deposit to your own debit card made from your country. Otherwise, you may use LocalCryptos to sell your bitcoin instead of Localbitcoin. They don't require KYC and offer a self-custodial wallet. Here is their official thread, you may take a look for more details: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5216050.0
I have infact heard of localcryptos, and there are sellers in my region, but i have never used the platform by myself. Is it literally just like lbc, with the escrow and all?

Anyways, OP: There are lots of no KYC options for prepaid nonreloadable debit cards in many countries.  You just need to find a trading partner and buy their #'s off them.
Alright, if none of the current options work out, i might use this as a last resort.

@theymos any updates on this please?
200  Economy / Service Discussion / im changing my title again on: August 07, 2020, 11:36:59 PM
If you are concerned about privacy why not create an alt account? The risk of converting BTC to PayPal is the possibility of reversing the transaction, and thus any newbie account can do it if the second party is reliable.
You need to create an account, patience for several days, and then you can make the transaction safely.
Its not about privacy I am worried about, I just don't want to trade on this forum when paypal is of subject. Don't feel comfortable at all, that's my sole reason why I almost never purchase anything here. Always wanted to buy some collectibles, but I don't feel comfy enough to approach the subject.

you can buy some visa/mastercard cards using ----> coinsbee.com
You can also ask the support team about PayPal.
Oh I like coinsbee, gonna do more research on it, but their mastercard has a limit of 50 USD? Like I want over 200 Usd AT LEAST, so a little bummer. But i might use the site for other purchases. Thanks for the recommendation!
