1101  Economy / Reputation / Re: Gleb Gamow account was sold Proof on: June 15, 2018, 10:35:31 PM
I don’t think this is proof the account was sold, it is fairly good evidence it is for sale though.

Bruno has contributed a fairly decent amount to the community over the years and based upon the fact he is (trying) to sell his accounts he likely is in need of money. So I would ask both hilarious and darkstar if they want to actively prevent Bruno from raising money he likely needs by selling something he duly owns?
If that is truly the case, I am sure a few users would help him out to give/lend him some money?
Chances are two people have access to Gleb Gamow/Bruno's account because of this, I have never seen Gleb post like this.
1102  Other / Meta / Re: Bring back the newbie jail with changes on: June 15, 2018, 10:30:17 PM
Topic has been discussed many a times and has been turned down.

- Not every poster is a good poster from beginning. They don't always post "quality" stuff.

- It is safe to say that half of them don't know what bitcoin is,they hardly know/care about this forum.

- Even a lot of experienced members don't know the basics.

- Merit has been introduced for reducing spamming and there has been a little improvement.

- There are only 80 merit sources. They don't have the time to read each and every post. They just merit a good post if they come across one.

The idea won't be effective. It would a pain in the ass.
1103  Other / Meta / Re: Let's Ban Gambling Signatures/ Advertising on: June 15, 2018, 10:23:24 PM
To be more on topic, I'm fine with gambling advertisements on Bitcointalk. People who want to gamble, will find a way to gamble. And most crypto casinos seem to be at least more social in nature than most of the "traditional" online casinos out there.
There is something called "traditional" online casinos? But yeah crypto ones seem much better, only their way of handling things sucks a bit.
OP, provide the proof on the sex for merit theory, come on man. You gotta do it!
And banning gambling would lead the forum to break its own policies. Also have you ever read this:

1104  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Mercatox-Future king of crypto exchanger far superior than binance on: June 15, 2018, 09:28:13 PM
Is it just me or is anyone else also seeing that all of a sudden Junior members have started to say "good experiences" about mercatox exchange? It all feels like the marinecoin shill program but in a smaller medium, atleast now.
1105  Economy / Exchanges / Re: What are some good exchanges to use? on: June 15, 2018, 09:14:59 PM
He is. I'm surprised you haven't been nailed yet if you've had direct transactions to and from gambling sites. It's nothing to do with Coinbase. It's everything to do with them desperate to keep the lawmakers sweet.

https://www.coinbase.com/legal/user_agreement?locale=en

"You may not use your Coinbase Account to engage in the following categories of activity ("Prohibited Uses"). The specific types of use listed below are representative, but not exhaustive. If you are uncertain as to whether or not your use of Coinbase Services involves a Prohibited Use, or have questions about how these requirements apply to you, please submit a request at https://support.coinbase.com. By opening a Coinbase Account, you confirm that you will not use your Account to do any of the following:

Gambling: Lotteries; bidding fee auctions; sports forecasting or odds making; fantasy sports leagues with cash prizes; internet gaming; contests; sweepstakes; games of chance"

Better knock that on the head if you value your account.
Darn it. Guess I have to start reading those huge boring longass user agreements. Eugh. Always skip that shit. I don't use it much nowadays but I'll have to move my funds from there soon enough. Thanks for quoting that part regarding the "Prohibited Uses" part, was in no mood to read that now.
I liked shapeshift, haven't used it in a while now.
After the decisions of the last regulation, It became disgusting.
This also. Wow. So now the only exchange left for me to use is binance. Thanks GDPR. Fucking hell. Will we ever get a good exchange to use? Ever? I am not that big a fan of binance. Undecided

But could you explain in what terms they became disgusting? I checked their terms and conditions and the last update was April  9.
1106  Economy / Reputation / Re: Vod trolling me with red tag! on: June 15, 2018, 09:01:13 PM
I only advised him to do a few things based on the circumstances, nobody has ever used my service, calling me a scammer without knowing if I'm capable of providing a service or not is a false accusation.

Let us not go off topic here, the fact still remains that Vod is a trust abuser and should get kicked out from his position.
You advised him to bribe Lauda in an indirect way, but still it was an advice telling him to bribe Lauda. And a bribe doesn't always have a monetary value.
And the tag that Vod has given you is legitimate enough.
1107  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Overview of Bitcointalk Signature Anti-Spam Campaign Managers on: June 15, 2018, 12:27:15 PM
The list doesn't need to include every facet of the services you may or may not provide. Things like timezones etc can go in your own threads with further details etc.
It would be great but not every manager is willing to have their own ANN thread for God knows why reasons.
Was just going to say the same thing. This is an anti-spam list and Sylon is one of the worst managers on the forum for spam in my opinion. Sylon accepts and pays for anyone as long as you make the minimum amount of spam. The amount of farmers and copy and pasters on his campaigns is ridiculous and multiple users are banned every day from campaigns he's running so staff end up doing his job for him which is incredibly annoying. There's also the infamous list of 200 Russian farmers that he was paying the majority of which alone should disqualify him from this list. Maybe when he starts doing his job properly he could be reconsidered, but at the moment he seems content with just collecting a paycheck for posting bounty Ann threads and paying the shitposters that hit the minimum quota.
Now that the point about sylon is cleared, I have mixed opinions on a few managers, what do you all think:
Julerz12, legendster, goinmerry.

I contacted aventhe, decoded, edwardard and they didn't reply any info so they aren't on the list.

Blockfolio and wapinter would no longer be on the waiting list due to obvious reasons.
1108  Other / Meta / Re: Simple answer to getting rid of all the trash threads here on: June 14, 2018, 11:57:42 PM
Really? And you actually just got what? 17 merits despite being a "legendary?"
Don't get me wrong, I just wanna say my point related to the merit airdrop.
Ranks don't matter anymore in bitcointalk, other than for signature campaigns. A few users don't merit legendary ranks as they think that is a waste of their sMerits, they would rather spend that on lower ranked members. Also just because one user is "legendary" doesn't make him a good poster.
I see things getting worse so I don't see we have any option but to introduce something like this.

I see no actual valid reason to not introduce it.

There has been no good rebuttal so far.
How could you possibly not see it? This is a terrible idea. Some users come out here to ask legitimate things and not all of them are good posters at start. People have to stop expecting nullius-like post quality from newbies. And I am a fucking hypocrite. This option SHOULD NOT be implemented. I am sure there are other ways to stop people from spamming shit. Why don't you start off with reporting 100s of posts per day?
1109  Economy / Reputation / Re: Vod trolling me with red tag! on: June 14, 2018, 11:50:51 PM
Here's the evidence you are a scammer: You tried to charge people for a service you couldn't provide. That's pretty much textbook scamming.

How do you know I'm not capable of providing said service?

Its more than one month that you started offering your service and your trust ratings went from  0: -0 / +0 to -32: -5 / +0.
None of your cases are based on your clients, infact you have 0 clients. Your first possible client turned you down. Why do you think he did that?
1110  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: xapo new transaction system of confirmation from them? security or headache? on: June 14, 2018, 11:32:25 PM
So basically, you need to wait for your own money to be sent? And there are no guarantees that you will receive them in x amount of time at all? I mean, even for dust amounts, this is a hassle to go through and a pain in the arse if they decide to hold your funds for whatever reason.

I don't see how this provides security at all, hackers will still able to withdraw with the delays in some if not most instances (obviously I don't know how the system works, but it doesn't make much sense to me).

Whole point of using bitcoin is that you want to have instant transactions worldwide. And using Xapo, not only do you have to pay the same transaction fees now that they put it in place, you have to be delayed by them as well. Not worth it.
I don't know why people still use Xapo but coinbase is much better than xapo, here. This is actually bad, waiting for manual conformation is so bad. Imagine what users might have gone through when the nowmal transactions took hours if not days to get confirmed even with high fees.

That's good news for those people who can wait for the transaction to arrive, but for the others it can give a headache, I was fan of xapo wallet before because everything in faucet rewards is an instant, but last year after the miners fees increase and the value of bitcoin increases my xapo account stop working recovering my wallet won't work so I think it's a xapo bug and trying to contact them but never receive any response from them.

So for me if you are using Xapo it's another headache because most of bitcoin users are always wanted to send the transaction an instant and I think you can use other service which can give you an instant transaction like electrum wallet as a sample.
They never responded? Did you open a scam accusation or something? Did you have money stored in it?
1111  Other / Meta / Re: Simple answer to getting rid of all the trash threads here on: June 14, 2018, 11:09:22 PM
This would hurt a lot of legitimate users here. This has been discussed to hell and back in the past and it has been turned down every single time. theymos values freedom of speech way too much.

The board is a mess. The average thread content a year ago was worthwhile.
A year ago the board was less spammy but it wasn't as worthwhile as you think it was. Go and read the topics back in 2012-13 or even 2014 , you'll know.

Now both the main boards are beyond any reasonable moderation. There is too much low quality volume. It is a mass of which ico is best and copy and paste bots reposting threads over and over.
This has been going on for years. Ever visited the Off-topic board? Things are much worse there.

The real members that did post quality content are leaving.
The board needs to be slowed down and 90% of the trash cut away.

You can't even start to moderate this much volume with most new members not even bothering to pretend to keep to the boards guidelines.

100 merit or cant start a thread on the main boards.
mods will stand of chance of moderating to some degree after that

sure some will find workarounds but mods need to get on top of what can not be automated.

Junior boards or noob jails are essential - the merit system is good but does nothing to prevent people spamming their project and building a ton of bots and puppet accounts to spam with them. I see entire threads pages long all pump the same shit and not 1 account has any merit in pages and pages of accounts.

It used to be great to drop in here and read some really interesting and great discussions by the more knowledgeable members and get to ask them some questions..but now just pages and pages of nothing but ico pumpers and spammers and noobs asking the same questions over and over again.

Honestly I don't think the main alt board is really even moderated now, and I don't blame them, it moves to fast and nobody there even tried to adhere to the rules.
The real members left in 2014 itself. Mods can't do anything if people don't report stuff. And very few people use the "Report to Moderator" button. Because every time they do, they ask themselves, what is in for them, they realize it is nothing and don't even bother to use that button anymore(this is for most people who DO NOT care about this forum).

About the altcoin board, do you seriously expect one moderator to handle the worse board on bitcointalk? Come on, man. People literally have given up reporting anything on that board. It is that bad.
1112  Economy / Services / Re: ARBITAO Signature & Avatar Campaign on: June 14, 2018, 10:34:15 PM
Well sir, although I can not be part of this campaign but I still appreciate your decision, I hope your campaign is always successful, thank you sir.
Stop kissing his ass. You're only saying this hoping to get accepted in yahoo's future campaigns.

Your post history shouts how big of a shitposter you're. Sorry yahoo62278, but just couldn't resist.
1113  Economy / Exchanges / Re: What are some good exchanges to use? on: June 14, 2018, 10:27:39 PM
Watch out with Coinbase, because they will nuke your account at the drop of a hat if you send coins to gambling or other similar sites.  Don't think they're not watching, because they are--but they're a legit exchange that I've used before and I would recommend them if you just want to buy or sell bitcoin.  Very easy to use.
Are you fucking serious? I have had a few transactions from and to gambling sites using coinbase. I didn't knew this was a possibility until now.
Poloniex is good, though I'm not sure what their status is these days.  I've seen a few threads here saying they're not so hot anymore.
Oh they just decided to fuck with people's minds by making verification compulsory for legacy accounts.
@OP,binance is now the go-to exchange. I don't see them bringing regulative stuff in the game soon because they moved to Malta but I may be wrong. I liked shapeshift, haven't used it in a while now.
1114  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitpanda Mandatory Verification Requirement -- What the F***? on: June 14, 2018, 10:15:48 PM
That's unprofessional. How much money are we talking about here and how many investors they had outside of Europe? Aren't they suppose to mention or create an agreement which prohibits investing from the customers who don't belong to the European territories?
Did you try their support? If there are similar cases and high in number, you guys should start a group or something discuss a solution. I firmly believe if they hadn't mentioned while the time of the ICO about European restrictions, you guys deserve to get paid.

The support has already answered in this thread here:

Hello mobnepal,

You are right that that verification is mandatory now, however only for depositing FIAT. You still can deposit coins and sell them. Also you can buy with the FIAT you have in your FIAT wallets. Withdrawing coins or FIAT is possible as well.

Best regards,
Sebastian
Team Bitpanda

@buwaytrees

Thank you for answering. And yes, it looks like your answer is correct so far.

@hugeblack

The new version comes with the functionality to send coins to other Bitpanda users free of charge. Also you can send to an email address whose owner is not yet a user of Bitpanda. It's also free of charge.

But mobnepal's issue is worse. He cannot verify his account if he wanted to because his country is not included in Bitpanda's list of allowed countries lol.

Having that said, many cryptocurrency services are not ready for full KYC/AML compliance. Leave the small services if you ask me.

That is not funny. Its not because of how small the service is, it all matter on how their tie-ups are linked. Smaller services are much better, FYI. They have a better support and better service.

One thing for me to say to bitpanda, like the others have mentioned: Don't fuck with people by suddenly putting restrictions like these without any prior warning. Its bad faith and is fucking shady.
1115  Other / Meta / Re: Application for a merit source on: June 14, 2018, 09:58:22 PM
Thank you for clearing that up.

If you are interested in becoming a merit source, I would advise finding recent posts that currently have little to no merit. Anyone can find a bunch of posts that already have merit (they are public). The reason any given person would be added as a merit source is to allow them to give posts merit that doesn’t already have merit— ie. to broaden the scope of posts that receive merit, and indirectly, broaden the scope of people who receive sufficient merit to rank up (that have sufficient post quality).
Glad to. Thank you for your advice.
Bump!
1116  Economy / Services / Re: A simple bitcoin Q/A. Learn new and interesting stuff about bitcoin. on: June 14, 2018, 08:52:19 PM
I am still confused about this stealth address.
Is there any advantage of using an stealth address over his method?
Maybe convenience, if there is an easy client to handle stealth address?
I usually read stuff like this from bitcoin.stackexchange.com ,and from what I have come across a reply that explains about stealth addresses in brief and a few things I noticed was:

- Stealth addresses don't necessarily provide 100% anonymity.

- The difference is that stealth address are based on providing unique addresses, other than manually providing different addresses.

1117  Other / Meta / Re: Ponzi Schemes are illegal right? on: June 13, 2018, 11:29:39 PM
Excuse me, but in which country is investment fraud legal?
Like I said, there are loopholes in these, in legal terms. I did read somewhere that, if a particular investment which looks like a ponzi and has failed in its capital raising, it may not be illegal. I am not very much sure on this, but I do know that there are loopholes to get out of legal consequences.
1118  Other / Meta / Re: Ponzi Schemes are illegal right? on: June 13, 2018, 10:19:12 PM
It depends on country to country depending upon the laws (?). There are loopholes or hidden agendas in these ponzi schemes sometimes which may cover things up, but yeah in most cases it is illegal. Read this for more information : https://www.quora.com/Why-is-a-ponzi-scheme-illegal

Pugman I think this post should be called crash course 101 on bitcointalk I've learned a lot thanks.
Thank you very much. My motive is to mainly spread knowledge, along with merits Wink and it makes me happy that people are able to learn new stuff. Here's another thread you might find useful: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2968050.0
1120  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Exchange Regulations - are we seeing negative effects? on: June 12, 2018, 11:53:46 PM
There are a few things to consider when it comes to regulations:

- If people use huge amounts of crypto, they already have provided their KYC for more withdrawals.

- No one can entirely regulate bitcoin, there are mixers and other ways to deal with that.

- Not every one knows how to be anonymous, especially when they use passwords like '12347890' or lame ass passwords like that. If people can't secure their passwords, how do you expect them to be anonymous.

- People mistake privacy to be equal to hiding something(look at this post). If you want to be private, that means you do illegal stuff and sell weed for a living.

- If people want to be anonymous, they can use decentralized exchanges, they are not a thing yet, but let the regulation impact kick in, they would be better than binance.

- Regulation was always expected. Did anyone seriously expect exchanges like bittrex and poloniex, the top exchanges at one time to keep their users trading without any "regulative measures"?

- One can have two options, atleast at the moment: Either they follow up on the regulations or be anonymous by using mixers, TOR, decentralized services. The latter is not easy to do/maintain but is possible. One has to be smart on a whole new level to be anonymous. For average people, the former is better. You people also have lives, being anonymous won't be your thing because you'd be doing it wrong.
