It is not stored somewhere for the bitcoin holders to utilize it in the future.

Why does it need to be stored? If you look at bitcoin from a technical perspective you are basically getting "unspent Outputs" which you can "spend" in future, so that point is satisfied if you ask me... We can argue all day about this as "value" is something subjective. We all believe 1$ is 1$ cuz of our "Collective Subjectivity". This article[1] sums up the whole situation beautifully do give it a read...

Quote from: antikvark
Regarding debt. There is nothing wrong with debt as it is just agreements between people and such agreements exist from the beginning of times. Given that the population grows the debt agreements grow as well. The problem is government debt, which is political question that has nothing to do with whether something is or is not market item, or whether it has or has not economic value.

Agreed. But when the "Money" in question is being created out of thin air at One's will then it will end up in one big clusterfuck!

The agent buying a service from a miner simply means that miner uses electricity to transfer record from one virtual address to another and to maintain this record. And this obviously  doesn't make this record a market item with an economic value.

According to who exactly? The agent decides what's value for them... In bitcoin's case, it's renting the "hashing power" that is the market item...

Quote from: antikvark
Why would interest have to be paid monetary? Interest is just the cost lenders charge for borrowing money and this charge can be paid in a number of non-monetary ways — in goods, services, bonds, stocks, commodities...

No matter how you try to spin it, at the end of the day you will have to pay back to the bank in form of "cash". That's why we have an ever going debt. No matter what wording you want to use you will end up with an ever-increasing debt... This "system" has scammed people for centuries it's about time it is replaced by something better. No economist will even try to argue about the ever-going debt... You will never see this figure go down and that's a fact... https://www.economist.com/content/global_debt_clock

theres no denying the fact that the sudden surge of bitcoin price last couple of days has something to do with the ME situation.

Iran isn't in middle east, it's in Western Asia... smdh... I can show you 100 "alternate facts" which will show it has nothing to do with Iran... Roll Eyes

I'm pretty sure this is because on the current issue there.

Hardly the pump we saw was directly linked with $500 million which was injected into the Tether market[1]... What I find amusing is how dumb are people these days... Why would people in war buy something which they will have no access to... With war comes limited communications and internet access. Cryptocurrencies are the last thing you want to invest in when your life is in danger... Roll Eyes

Quote from: pooya87
this is already old news. it started before the war drama in the region and it was because some people were spreading the false information about bitcoin price being $20000 in Iran simply because they made a mistake in their calculations. and the news became viral!

This is the most likely the reason there was a spike in google trends...

Thank you for exposing banks in your video... At 0:34 the video mentions the dollars are created by giving out "loans" in this case it was $10,000. What the video failed to show is that the repayment of that loan isn't $10,000 but rather a standard interest rate will be applied on it... So when only $10,000 were "created" the "Borrower" in the real world would have to return back $12,500... The $2,500 which didn't even exist in the first place will have to be repaid. That's how economic debt increases every single day... That's how banks are a scam! You are returning something doesn't even exist yet...

Moving on to Bitcoin not having an "Economic value". Let's define first what is "Economic value"? Simply put

Quote from: Investopedia
Economic value can be described as a measure of the benefit from a good or service to an economic agent. It is typically measured in units of currency. Another interpretation is that economic value represents the maximum amount of money an agent is willing and able to pay for a good or service.

Consider the agent buying a service from a miner... The service is moving Bitcoins from one address to another which requires POW ( proof of work )... The currency paid for this service is FIAT. In simple words, the agent is paying for the hashing power he is technically renting... So my question to you now is how is bitcoin a fraud again?
186  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion: Reduce 50 merit limit per post. on: January 09, 2020, 09:47:59 AM
Oh boy! this is a tricky one... There is no one right answer to this one I believe but what I can say for certain is there is a right way to do things and then there are not so right ways... E.g would a moderator be considered a good moderator if they "CTRL + A" + "Del" all the reports? Sure they are doing their job but is it fair to all the other moderators who go through each and every report individually?... Logic would dictate the answer is No! It will only ruin the moderation in the long run, more moderators will feel like doing the same as apparently it isn't the "wrong" way to do things... The posts which didn't deserve deletion will get deleted... In merit's case, people will get way more merit than they originally deserved... Making the system fail in the long run... But then again we should have a "CTRL + A" + "Del" feature in place because some times shit hits the fan and it is just required... Some posts do deserve dumps but this behaviour, in my opinion, shouldn't be promoted and should be frowned upon... If TMAN is lazy or can't find the time to spend his allocated sMerits then maybe they can ask theymos to reduce their allocated amount per month. Simply put don't bite off more than you can chew... It will hurt the system in the long run that's all...

If I were you I would move on... Keep learning and contributing maybe over time you can prove us wrong... That's your only hope with this account...

I don't know what my typing speed is. But I can test it. But if I test the typing speed and record the screen and then give the video, will they remove my negative feedback?

No! it's not the ultimate proof! I said it can help you in making a case against all the accusations that have been thrown so far...

If @marlboroza and @ morvillz7z make me sure that if I pass then they will remove their feedback. Then I can try it out. Of course, I trust them because they are prominent people in this forum. Their feedback is affecting my profile a lot.

Name me one good reason how it is "Affecting" your profile?
191  Other / Meta / Re: Does this tread really deserve the attention it has got? on: January 08, 2020, 05:42:27 AM
I got two Negative feedback and one Natural feedback. Just for this little issue. Is it okay to give this feedback? I have seen in another thread 136 merits named Newbie1273819 without any posts. So why is nobody giving him negative feedback? Why is everyone so busy with me? Did I hurt you? Are these not abuse of power? I am a small man in this forum so why do you attack me as such? I can't attack you.

I laughed way louder than I should have!! LMAOOOOO!!! Feedbacks aren't moderated just like TMAN dropping that 50 Merit bomb. It's a free for all. Personally I believe those feedbacks are pretty valid unless you can prove otherwise. One of the things you can do is screen-record yourself typing at one of the typing speed test websites. If your typing speed is above 60 WPM then I think you can give your case a chance else forget about this account and start from scratch again. Tongue Or you can continue with this account, keep contributing to the forum and maybe one day those feedbacks can be changed to neutral...

Oh boy! Where do I even start... TL: DR I am fucking embarrassed with what my 17-year-old ass did to get my hands on some BTCs...

P.S Dunno why I spammed all these emojis below...

I learned about Bitcoin in early 2013 I believe and then I joined bitcointalk in 2014... I was 17 back then... I was just shitposting to get my rank up but then again I did not even know the word shitposting existed Tongue ... if I remember correctly You had to post 14 times every 2 weeks I believe to get 14 activity points... my goal was to get to the "hero member" rank for some reason, Signature campaign wasn't it  Shocked . I think it had to do with Avatar, Only hero and above could have an Avatar... That was my 17-year-old ass's priority... To get an Avatar on an internet forum...  Cool But then I learned about the signature campaigns and once I got into one my posting "quality" went down the drain. It was EZ Bitcoins for my 18-year-old ass back then... I was saving them up! I had this goal back then to save Bitcoins till the next moon! The only smart thing I have done in my entire life... Then I got placed in SMAS Grin... Lauda and co became my ENEMY!  Grin Some people tried to raise voice against their regime but failed to over through them, they were just too powerful to be overthrown Tongue

Anyway, after a while, I realized that I was indeed shitposting and there is no such thing as Free Lunch... I genuinely tried helping the newbies here and genuinely took part in discussions, my posting quality improved automatically... I appealed to Lauda and Co and I was removed from the SMAS on my 1st appeal, I realized at that point that Lauda and Co weren't evil people as painted by other people here Tongue they were just trying to help improve the community Tongue Then I kinda laid low and focused on my "Learning", learning adobe suite, Unity3d and stuff... bitcointalk went on a back burner of sorts... I have to say this I was still "shitposting" but at a lower level in campaigns saving all those BTCs Tongue ( you can never save them enough ) but then stopped altogether once I started freelancing. Long story short, I am fucking embarrassed with my younger self for being naive and a "greedy" fuck!

My 1st post on Bitcointalk: Turns out I wasn't a believer after all Tongue

Do lending you can make some profit.

I believe 70% of my posts can land in Wall of fame / shame. Shit posts so bad that they are actually funny without a doubt! Jeez why am i even exposing myself...  Grin

Why does USDC keep charging me a dollar to exchange it?

What are you exchanging it to and where? According to Coinbase[1], there are no exchange fees linked to "converting" "USDC" on Coinbase at least... You can also use this website[2] to see how much each exchange charges as a withdrawal fee for USDC...

Keys to one’s house are useful in that they create a system where the owner of the house can use the keys to limit the ease of access to trusted parties. However, if someone stole the keys, they would not own the house. If someone simply holds the keys to bitcoins, that alone should not give them legal ownership.

The analogy given is so stupid... I wonder if the author even understands that Bitcoin is supposed to be a currency, not a "digital house"... smdh... You don't go buying stuff in the real world for a stake in your property. You use "cash" for it... Can't believe I just wasted 15 minutes reading this crap! The other argument of CSW having all the "related" knowledge/Credentials isn't a great point either... So You are trying to tell me that CSW is the only person in the world who fills the shoes of 'possible" satoshi...? If so how did you reach that conclusion?

Quote from: unboundedcapital
These include Craig’s warning that he will be moving upwards of 800,000 BTC, the January 1st 2020 maturation of a trust containing over 1 million BTC mined by CSW in 2009-2011,

We are still waiting and we are already a week in...

Jeez! these people are getting smarter day by day... The answers definitely look pre-written But I think I'm being "biased" here as my typing speed is just around 50 words per minute and my thinking speed is way lower than that Tongue Anyway, I did an analysis of sorts... Turns out anyone who has a decent typing speed of 55 WPM(words per minute) can easily type these up...

@marlboroza's 1st link: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5208244.0
Total words in the post: 66

@The-Devil took 1 minute and 13 seconds to respond to this. This gives us a typing speed of 54.24 words per minute.

@marlboroza's 2nd link: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5207209.0
Total words in the post: 65
Total characters: 379

@The-Devil took around 2 minutes, which gives us a way slower typing speed but you have to account for the "thinking process", So the time adds up... Edit: I did this for all of the posts, they are all around 50-55 WPM.

The posts may appear suspicious but they can be written in time what @The-Devil took... But you have to assume that @The-Devil was continuously refreshing those boards and has a typing speed of around 60 WPM or greater...

If this is, in fact, an attempt to "earn" merits then I have to give it to these shitposters... They have an unbreakable will... I mean if they put their brains elsewhere they can definitely earn way more than what a top paying campaign would pay them... this effort ain't worth it...
196  Other / Meta / Re: Mobile Friendly Bitcointalk on: January 06, 2020, 03:37:54 AM
Just like @harizen said you will get used to the interface by using the forum on a regular basis but if you want really something done about it. You can hire a chrome extension developer from Fiverr and ask them to develop a "Resizer" of sorts for you. Basically it will make bitcointalk appear responsive even tho it's originally not. I know this because I hired a developer to code an extension where if a User had less than X amount of merit received then their posts didn't appear on my display... It's basically messing with HTML/CSS I believe and chrome allows the modification of webpages through their extensions, So something like making bitcointalk responsive should also be possible. You can then run that extension via Kiwi browser on your android device... ( I will look into this, there is a demand for this... )

Is the Lightning Network the only solution? Is it even a realistic solution?

No, Yes... Check out this article... https://masterthecrypto.com/blockchain-scalability-solutions-crypto-scaling-solutions/

Quote from: kryptqnick
So how about accepting that a person paid the moment after this person hit the 'send' button on the screen or something like that? What are the odds of a transaction not getting through eventually (if a person paid a normal transaction fee, of course) and being returned back to the sender's wallet? Is that happening that often that shops would not be able to take those risks?

The 'odds' are quite high TBH. Almost all RBF Transactions go through, So imagine a scammer going on a shopping spree in a mall. He could "RBF" buying things until the transaction eventually gets through. Yeah, you might argue that most of the Blockexplorers mark double-spent attempts but it isn't a 'real' solution. This could work in an environment where people "trust" each other... E.g your local pub, where you have been going for years, so the owner kinda trusts you but we are living in a "Fast evolving" world, we need solutions like Lightning Networks which don't require 2 parties to trust each other...

Imagine this, you are visiting another city, you goto a shopkeeper and try to buy a product worth $500 bucks. You tell them that you will pay up tomorrow but you need the product right now... What do you think will happen to you in the real world? Will the shopkeeper hand you that good? If you think the answer is Yes! You are delusional, unfortunately...

199  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Cryptocurrency exchange script like binance , with ERC integration for $300 on: January 04, 2020, 12:16:46 PM
Buying via Fiverr still doesn't ensure the script itself doesn't have any backdoors or exploits. Have you allowed someone to pentest your "Script"? $300 is something which I charge for my Announcement thread animations, i wouldn't expect a developer will offer a real-world secure exchange script for $300. Unless it's very poorly written or who has backdoors in it...
