1061  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bounty Campaign on: October 30, 2017, 04:12:06 PM
Hello I would like to know about bounty campaign. Please advice.

Bounty campaign is when an ICO or a company wants to get promotions, translations and other stuff related to them done without paying so they offer a bounty for stuff they want done. They promise you x amount of shares or tokens for your work. That's basically what bounty campaigns are about.

This is certainly not a clever way to feed your ego.

What has ego to do with this? 0.1btc isn't an insane amount of bitcoins and how exactly will people will lose out their privacy? It will just be a random address with a signature that says it's with the xyz club. I only see people getting motivated to hodl more by seeing so many members do the same. Anyway it will be a shot in the dark, let's see where do we land.
1063  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin hodl clubs? on: October 30, 2017, 11:08:23 AM
Well it don't need to be a 10 btc hodl club, smaller amounts like 0.1 btc would be just fine, i myself am doing this, it's been 4 months i have been hodling 0.1btc, i have decided to hodl for at least 10 years and no matter what the case may be i won't be touching them. Was just checking if people were upto something like this. The club will serve as a motivation for people who want to hodl, nothing more. I think it has potential, i will draw up some fancy banners and start one by tomorrow. Do suggest me some good names if you have any.
1064  Bitcoin / Project Development / Bitcoin hodl clubs? on: October 29, 2017, 01:02:35 PM
Hey fellow bitcointalk members, i was wondering if there are any hodling clubs out there? I mean where people stake in an address with x amount of btc for x period of time? They don't send their coins to anyone, they are in possession of their coins all the time, they just sign an address and stake it in a thread. If they want to leave they just take out their btcs no penalties etc, just a fun project. what do you think of it? Are there projects like this out there? If so please list them.
1065  Other / Meta / Re: Hacked my account on: October 29, 2017, 12:27:46 PM
-snip-
The message was placed on the github before. In fact, it was posted on the github, "My bitcointalk account (buxlover) has been hacked I am writing this on 12th october 2017" which was the same time that I requested for him to verify on the github.
This is enough proof for most people, but I'm pretty sure that more/less theymos and Cyrus (to a lesser extent) wouldn't care enough to check the validity of this.

Hmm strange when i visited from my mobile it redirected me to an ad, but today it seemed to open the github page. Will probably hard reset my phone. And yes the op won't be getting his account back anytime soon. Unless theymos or Cyrus bend the rules.
1066  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: finding old bitcoins on: October 29, 2017, 07:05:03 AM
Well if you had a account on an exchange the best way to go about is to look through your history on your old laptop. Just hope you still have your browsing history on it, search for words like bitcoin, buy, exchange etc find the oldest results you can find and try to recover your password from there. Also do the same thing on your email, look through old emails which may had a word like bitcoin, Thank you for purchasing etc. If it was one of online exchange then you might have received a email like this, or you can just search for all bitcoin exchanges which were back then and look for their emails in your inbox. Good luck.
1067  Other / Meta / Re: Hero Account Hacked/Lost (Signatue provided) on: October 29, 2017, 06:51:20 AM
I've just recover my hacked account.

Please just have faith and be patience.

Send other pm, but not too much!

How often did you send the pms?

Sending multiple pms is a bad idea, you don't want to spam the admins with same messages, it will only increase their backlog that they are already trying to counter, the best way to go about this is, just send a message once and wait it out, it may take a week or a month but you can will get your account back.

1069  Other / Meta / Re: Hacked my account on: October 29, 2017, 06:30:42 AM
Hey guys.

This is going nowhere Huh. If any legendary member is available, I can give my credentials to my Coinbase account so that they can verify whether the btc address is really mine.  It's really frustrating that someone is using my account and I'm just here sitting and nagging everyone to recover what's truthfully mine. Sad

Do as actmyname has mentioned, place this message anywhere on your github.

Code:
this is buxlover101, my account has been hacked.
Want to recover it asap.

If you can't do that, then it clearly means you are not the rightful owner of the account. The coinbase credentials can be hacked and prove nothing of your ownership.
1070  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: why bitcoin illegal in asia? on: October 29, 2017, 06:05:21 AM
@Greenbits, it has nothing to do with religion, in fact if you see bitcoin in its truest form, it is a perfect currency for Muslims. It has no kind of interest linked in it. Interest for Muslims is the worst thing possible. So why are these countries banning a interest-less thing? It has to do with terrorism protection and getting away with corruption, these countries also can't afford tax evaders, cause they are still developing. There are multiple reasons behind the ban and religion has nothing to do with it.
1071  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Can I speed up unconfirmed incoming transaction? on: October 28, 2017, 06:53:36 PM
I have a incoming bitcoin transaction that hasnt been confirmed for 12 hours and it goes between "confirmed in 3 hours" to "confirmed in 70 hours" all the time...No confirmations.
Can I as receiver do anything else then wait? Can I offer more fee somehow when being receiver in pending transaction?

Yes you can, copy your transaction id and head over to viabtc, just at the start of the hour enter your transaction id and it should go through and get confirmed in an hour or so, if you want i can do it for you, just send me the transaction id.
1072  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Forum's currency on: October 28, 2017, 06:16:17 PM
If you are asking a plugin for your own custom forum then yes, there are many plug-ins available on the market. For example if you are running a mybb forum then you can get the 'new points' system for it, it allows the users to get paid for posting, also it has a donating function, users can donate to each other, if that's what you're looking for.
1073  Other / Meta / Re: My account JOSE2014 was hacked on: October 28, 2017, 06:09:58 PM
Building on to bitcoin revo's post, sign any one address which bitcoin revo have listed with the following text,

Code:
this is jose2014, my account has been hacked. Requesting a password reset.

Follow the Bitcoin revo's link if you don't know how to sign an address, after signing. Send a pm to theymos only then you can expect a recovery for your account.
1074  Other / Meta / Re: How Do Negative Trust Work on: October 28, 2017, 06:00:01 PM
I totally agree with the pharmacist, many users on bitcointalk don't understand the trust system, so even a negative feedback from a non default trust account can be harmful. I wish there was some sort of a reviewing day, where moderators would remove the 'fake' negative feedback. If you see my profile, i too have a 'fake' negative feedback. Anyway would like to hear from moderators on this issue.
1075  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mining Cryptocurrencies on: October 27, 2017, 09:35:04 AM
Would you guys suggest for a beginner to focus on mining solely bitcoins? Or would you say that it's smarter to mine for the other digital currencies out there?

I would say that mining bitcoins is a very bad idea for a beginner, and actually for anyone not having huge amount of money to invest into specialized hardware and good understanding of possible risks. It is possible to mine some altcoins (for example, Monero) with CPUs, but it still requires a large farm to get a meaningful profit.

I totally back A1exander, if you don't even understand bitcoin properly or the technology it is running on, then mining is really a bad idea. You will have to learn about Hashrates, good ASIC miners with great ROI, how to sustain a mining setup and so on, So in short please stay away from mining for now. But do visit the mining section here on this forum, you will find tons of valuable information regarding mining.

1076  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Buying bitcoins without scanning my IDs on: October 27, 2017, 09:30:52 AM
Hello,
I am new  here. I would like to buy some bitcoins, but I don't really like that most of  reliable exchanges requires sending scan of IDs cards.

I do not trust them   Grin

Where do you buy bitcoins without sending IDs? Is there any way except localbitcoins?

For my wallet I decided for Electrum - is it a good choice?

Thanks for you replies

Well you can look for local exchangers in your country, I have mostly done my trades through a local exchanger, he has never asked me for an ID verification. He does keep a fees for that, I am sure you can find many local exchangers by a quick google search. Which Country are you currently in? I can help you find one. Also for Electrum, yes it is a good choice, it will do everything you need. Just make sure you have got it from the official website and not a copy version of it which is infected. Good luck!
1077  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BCH and BTG Balances Question. on: October 27, 2017, 09:02:52 AM
Which is the most recommended wallet to do it? I will do it on a virtual Linux just to be on the safe side.
I just used Electron Cash, from a VM indeed. It's always safer to use the link on https://www.bitcoincash.org/#wallets than trust a random link somewhere on the internet, but you'll see it's the same link.

Thank you everyone. Locking the thread.
1078  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BCH and BTG Balances Question. on: October 27, 2017, 07:21:59 AM
Thank you all for your replies, I will follow your instructions and move out my btcs to a new address and claim my BCH from the old addresses.

You might lose them, due to lack of replay protection, or a compromised wallet. I don't trust any fork wallets on my PC.

BTG is still under development for making any transaction.

Gotcha, i will wait for it then.

1079  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / BCH and BTG Balances Question. on: October 27, 2017, 05:26:49 AM
So i am not familiar with these forks and how they work. I do know that, during a specific point in time both the forks took a snapshot of the blockchain and our balances were carried over to those altcoins. Now my question is a simple one, if i claim my BCH and BTG, will i lose my BTC? Like if i had 0.1 BTC, that would mean at the time of snaphot i would have 0.1 BCH and 0.1 BTG Respectively, If i sell those, will i lose my BTC too?
