1841  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Strategy for most profit in 10 years from now on: August 11, 2017, 09:41:40 AM
your mistake is wanting to become rich with bitcoin, and worse than that you want to become rich overnight!

Ok, assume you are relatively new to crypto currency and have missed the train (haven't bought Bitcoins back in 2009/2010 when they were ridiculously cheap). You have, let's say only $100 to spend for investing in Bitcoins or Altcoins.
While 100$ was more then enough in 2009/2010 to make you now financially independent, if you invested it all in Bitcoins at a price of 0.07$ or even lower at that time, which strategy do you think is the most profitable if you start today where the price is not a few Cents anymore but around 3.500$ per bitcoin?
don't assume and don't overthink.
instead take a look at the charts and price 6 months ago. why are you even going that far back to 2010!
price was $1000 and if you had bought then instead of thinking about 2010 you would have more than tripled your money!

Quote
1. Use the 100$ to buy BTC now and hold ("hodl") it until price reaches hopefully something like 100.000$ or even 500.000$ in 10 years
2. Trade BTC with a "buy low, sell high" strategy on a daily basis like a day trader
3. Trade BTC with a "buy low, sell high" strategy on a longer time frame
4. Lend your BTC you can buy for $100 on Poloniex to other traders to receive a few Satoshis every day (interests)
5. Lend your BTC somewhere else (might be risky)
6. Invest in ICO (might be even more risky)
7. Try to find a new but promising Altcoin and grab as much as you can for $100 right from the start before the price (hopefully) sky-rockets one day (also high risk I think)

Which strategy would you think will the best to make the most out of $100 you invest today?

you know each of these methods can potentially be good. but when you go in with 100 bucks you can't expect to become a millionaire.
and also for each of these methods you need to have some experience, it is not like go in and make money by clicking a button.
1842  Economy / Speculation / Re: $3500 on: August 11, 2017, 09:29:43 AM
$3500 is nothing at this point, price will be above $4000 very soon. right now there is a big accumulation phase going on before the big rise continues.
and since we have a drama in a couple of months this makes it perfect time for a rise before the profit taking starts.

1843  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if, Satoshi already sold all his Bitcoins off the market? on: August 09, 2017, 09:10:48 AM
Would it be possible for Satoshi to create some transaction that would make his coins be sent to the buyer at a specific time in the future, using that time-lock function?

i am not sure how things were in the early years and google didn't give me much about whether nlocktime were introduced later or what. but the first transaction ever:
https://blockexplorer.com/tx/f4184fc596403b9d638783cf57adfe4c75c605f6356fbc91338530e9831e9e16
has a locktime in it (set to zero of course) so it may have been possible for people to make a time locked transactions back then too.
for example they could have set the locktime to 500000 to make that transaction only valid on block #500000 (i think about 140 days from now)
1844  Economy / Speculation / Re: Prepare for another year or two of dramatic decline. on: August 09, 2017, 08:53:25 AM
We've seen this all before.
Now that the last hopes of a continued rally are harshly shattered by this bull trap it looks like we are in for another slow dramatic decline.
Last time it was from 700-800 towards 200, i suspect this time trend reversal may occur again around 300-350.
It was a nice run but until Bitcoin gets fixed at a fundamental level, these prices are unsustainable and marketcap will keep on leaking to superior coins.

i feel giddy today and since bitcoin price is $3400 nowadays i am just going to bump this topic for fun and in order to have some laugh together at the famous duck.

note that the timestamp of this topic is January 2017 which is 8 months ago and so far we've had rise after rise (like always).

oh kookooli you crack me up as always Grin

ps. it is fun to read some of the comments here. you can see who is in the same boat as kookooli and who has a level head and who are the parrots.
1845  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why the future of bitcoin is brighter then any other currency in the world. on: August 09, 2017, 08:45:41 AM
I can imagine following scenarios:
- Bitcoin will be always the king because of itīs popularity, tx speed and cost will be fixed and more features come (like f.e. smart contracts)
- Bitcoin will fall and some other crypto takes itīs place because the cummunity is not able to fix problems in enough time

it doesn't have to be completely black and white. it can be grey too Smiley
for example bitcoin stays the same, strong, growing, ... and another cryptocurrency is invented with things other than "get rich quick", "ICO", ... in mind -things such as being a cryptocurrency, or what Satoshi wrote in his paper- and that cryptocurrency aka altcoin grows as big as bitcoin and they are used alongside each other each having similar yet different purposes.

I think bitcoin has a great merit above other cryptocurrencies because it's the first accepted cryptocurrency ever existed with the profit so amazing.

Yes that's true! bitcoin is the first created cryptocurrency and known worldwide, more people invested this currency now that's why the market value is so high.

bitcoin is not the "first created" cryptocurrency.
1846  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vs Bitcoin2X - November, whats it gonna be for you? on: August 09, 2017, 08:36:56 AM
there is still 3 months to go and many things can change in this 3 months.

My personal view and choice: I think 2X will fail, and thus many people see it as another airdrop and sell when they think the price is right for it.

i wouldn't be so sure about it.
SegWit2x is nothing like bitcoin cash. it is not increasing the block size to an absurd amount of 8 MB and it has SegWit with a 2 MB block size.
and on top of it SegWit2x has a huge percentage of miners support (>80%) whereas BCC had virtually nothing. and the support was not just miners. and it doesn't matter anyways.

my hope is it either never happens or i wish core devs can come to a middle ground solution. if it "splits" then it will be bad for bitcoin. 2 splits in less than 4 months and 3 coins! it is not just about the price. it is the merchants that will think to themselves "what is the alternative to bitcoin which doesn't get forked every day" Grin
1847  Economy / Speculation / Re: Stop profit on: August 08, 2017, 09:35:50 AM
It seems to me this time should happen what has not happened yet - growth without correction.

it is impossible!
growth without correction means nobody should ever sell and we all know that is not possible. traders want profit, they sell at some point eventually to take that profit out and after the price came down (after correction) they buy back again, this time more bitcoins.

if you look at the charts the correction (in small amounts) has been happening too.
for example drop from $3143 on 5 Aug
1848  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can we please get back a little bit of the original ideology of crypto. on: August 08, 2017, 09:24:31 AM
i'd like to believe that it is still happening although it may go unnoticed. and there is not much we can do about that. it is the monetary gain aspect of it that ruins everything. and we can not remove that aspect without making the cryptocurrency useless.

i also believe that this will be remedied in long term. it will eventually becomes hard for scammers to create a simple useless project and earn money from it and they will go away. and what is left will be the good projects that the developers actually work on them.
1849  Economy / Speculation / Re: Stop profit on: August 08, 2017, 09:18:26 AM
stop profit 3700?
To re-buy after falling to 3000?
 Huh

that is a big swings you are expecting and in what time frame is that?
i think after $3500 rise will slow down and possibly stop before the $3600 then have some backtracking for correction.
that is the time that your $3000 may come true.
the the follow up rally.
1850  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Whoa is me I just got cyber-heisted!! (1.001 BTC) >:( on: August 08, 2017, 09:01:59 AM
here is your private key which is easily found with a quick google search:
Code:
5HueCGU8rMjxEXxiPuD5BDku4MkFqeZyd4dZ1jvhTVqvbTLvyTJ

you've probably imported this key some time in the past (for some weird reason) and have forgotten about it and now you have paid the price.

p.s. it is found here by the way: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Wallet_import_format
1851  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tether, anyone using it? on: August 07, 2017, 09:19:03 AM
i don't get it either but the thing is, it does drop. and a drop from $1 to $0.9 may seem like nothing but it is a 10% drop and if you have a large amount of money parked there, you will lose a lot.

and then there is this centralization about it. and any more will make it more centralized which is bad.
1852  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tether, anyone using it? on: August 07, 2017, 09:08:16 AM
no i am not using it.

it is a very cool idea though. to have something that is actually the same price as USD and you can use it as fiat but without the huge fees banks have and all the delays associated with it.

but it has a lot of problems. one is what you said about the transparency. the other is about the price! it is not always equal to 1 USD, it has dropped multiple times in the past and i don't want taking that risk. and they never guarantee the price either so it is possible to wake up to 1 USDT = 0.5 USD and i don't want that.
1853  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A question for Bitcoin holders about BitcoinCash on: August 07, 2017, 08:59:16 AM
To those of you still with bitcoin cash, are you planning to hold it?  Or just waiting until it get higher?  Or should you sell it now since people say it might get lower even more?
Also how many ppl out there percentagewise would you say still haven't claimed their bitcoin cash yet?

from what i have heard from other people so far and when i talk to my friends, and also from what i personally have done; i can tell you that majority of people have claimed a portion of their BCC. like their hot wallets or what they keep on exchanges.

most rewards that are still in cold storage are not claimed. you see, it is hard and risky to import a paper wallet for example and it takes a lot of work to create a new one to transfer your bitcoin there and bitcoin cash to exchange to dump.

percentage-wise i can say the dump that we have seen so far is about 10% of what it will be in total.
1854  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The current increase in price of bitcoin and it advantage on: August 07, 2017, 08:52:12 AM
With the recent rise in the price of bitcoin to us dollars to as high as $3305 as at yesterday, the best period to trade your bitcoin is now.

if by "trade" you mean sell because it is a big number in your eyes then no, it is not the best time to sell because bitcoin has just started moving up. and will continue as the BIP141 locks in SegWit and then the follow up rally will be as SegWit activates and we see it in real action. this is actually a long awaited rally.

but if you mean trading in the normal sense then there is nothing different. you could have traded bitcoin (bought and sold and bought back) the same as before and in the future!
1855  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 8th August on: August 07, 2017, 08:39:22 AM
I dont think there will be a pump if its inevitably going to be locked in. The markets might have pumped the last day or so in the run up to the 8th

BIP91 lock in pushed the price a bit up, so we might see the same now with BIP141 locking in.

Segwit activating will probably push it over 3600$.

I also think that there will be an increase in price. But most likely before the price increase, we will see a small decline. It will be a great time to buy coins.

no there is no reason left for a decline. all the reasons for negativity are now well over. there is only rise ahead of bitcoin and price will continue to go up only.
remember though a price drop after a big rise is not a decline exactly. for example when price goes up to $3250 and comes down to $3190 it is called a correction and it is already over.
1856  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Best exchanges to buy those tiny market market cap altcoins on: August 06, 2017, 10:43:26 AM
you want buy tiny market altcoin?
I suggest you trade on bittrex or yobit!
there are a lots of  small market value coin

yobit is the worst place you can ever suggest anyone!
you can never trust them
you can never deposit or withdraw about 90% of their listed coins because their wallets are dead.
you can never get any kind of proper answer or any answer from the support.
and on top of it all they are shady. with all their gambling sections and investment ponzi i wouldn't be surprised if they ran away tomorrow.
1857  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is Unstoppable on: August 06, 2017, 10:39:25 AM
you know what the first picture should be a sticky on the speculation board so that maybe some people see it and take a lesson next time another FUD started.
i completely remember each of these and each time i have said this is a FUD and take advantage to buy cheap coins but people still panic sell!
i mean how many times "the exact same thing" has to happen before people start realizing there is a pattern here.
1858  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Best exchanges to buy those tiny market market cap altcoins on: August 06, 2017, 10:27:44 AM
you have to be more specific, not all exchanges have all altcoins. there may be small market cap altcoins on poloniex or bittrex.

but usually if they have no volume they delist them fast.
after that you need to check the small exchanges. check out cryptopia and c-cex these two are good exchanges.

you can also always use coinmarketcap.com to find the list of all exchanges that have an altcoin.
1859  Economy / Speculation / Re: Value of BTC after 9/10 August? on: August 06, 2017, 10:15:07 AM
it is possible that BIP141 lock in has already been priced in. maybe not 100% but it is to some extent. which is why i wouldn't be surprised if the price doesn't that much higher after the activation.
we already know that BIP141 has 100% support. there is no doubt anymore and there is no FUD causing any panics.

in a week after it there is a better chance for a big price rise in my opinion. so maybe $3500 by then.
1860  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will bitcoin cash price bottom out before bitcoin bct segwit activation? on: August 06, 2017, 10:02:20 AM
BCC price for now will only be affected by people who are dumping.
these people are having so many troubles in their journey to dump BCC:
1. not having access to an easy or trustable wallet to spend the BCC they own
2. not having an account or not wanting to use some of the BCC exchanges out there.
3. blocks are way too slow right now which makes the whole process very slow specially if the exchanges ask for a large number of confirmations.

and this process will take a long time. it won't be just 1 or 2 weeks. we will be stuck here for a while.
and meanwhile bitcoin has broken free of the naysayers and all the FUD and now is on the rise and will continue to do so.
