Will there be anymore batches of the FutureBit MoonLander USB Scrypt Stick run?

No these are the last chips...I have a 100 boards left over which I might assemble if I get around to it after I finish shipping. Resellers will have around 150 units once they all get them so plenty to go around.
1882  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: [CLOSED] Official FutureBit MoonLander USB Scrypt Stick Order Thread on: January 15, 2016, 07:17:15 AM
So first couple shipments went out...I think I underestimated the amount of time it would take to clean these up from assembly, program them, and prep them for shipment. I should be able to ship another 50 units or so tomorrow so that should cover most of the first half of the orders. Unfortunately I wont be able to get to the bottom half until I get back from my trip.

Whoever has not paid yet does not have to pay until the 22/23rd, which is when the second batch of shipments will go out.

I think I've caught up with PMs and the order sheet should be up to date...time for some sleep!

Well this is embarrassing.....seems from the below list I'm first on the list Smiley

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/11rcnSh4rAR5oeeCsb13BeHxmKOT29tUrOjXVIkl9NJA/edit?pref=2&pli=1#gid=0

snip

Looking at list I see a decent amount have paid for full order it appears.  Should I pay you now for the rest still owed?

Just wanting to check and make sure I did not miss something about paying the rest.

If the people on the bottom want to pay thats up to you guys, some already have with the understanding that I might not be able to ship out their unit until after the weekend I get back on the 23rd. Ive also read all your PMs and am getting your payments, I cant updated the sheet or reply to anyone today because im swamped with trying to ship out the payments I got yesterday. Ill reply to everyone later tonight and hopefully ship out everything by tomorrow.

BTW this is what my bench currently looks like  Shocked

Software and instructions are up here: https://litecointalk.org/index.php?topic=28691.0

At the very least please download bfgminer and make sure it runs on your system before you get your stick so I can help with resolving any software issues. It should start up and go to the "add device" screen.
1885  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: [CLOSED] Official FutureBit MoonLander USB Scrypt Stick Order Thread on: January 13, 2016, 07:37:16 PM
Will I need a second PI unit and hub or will I be able to stick these on the same pi and hub as gecko compac stick miners?

I don't see why you wouldn't be able to. As long as the hub can handle the extra power the sticks will come up as their own separate com ports. You will just need a separate instance of bfgminer to run them.
1886  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: [CLOSED] Official FutureBit MoonLander USB Scrypt Stick Order Thread on: January 13, 2016, 07:34:41 PM
I think ASICPUPPY  is getting a batch for resale.
Maybe holybitcoin as well.

Both can be found here and have great reputations

Yes HolyBitcoin and AsicPuppy are the two official US resellers, and bitshopper.de is the official European reseller.

1889  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: [CLOSED] Official FutureBit MoonLander USB Scrypt Stick Order Thread on: January 12, 2016, 10:08:18 PM
which time will we be able to buy those miners ?

also, keep up the good work !

Its currently sold out, but I have 3 resellers you will be able to buy from when I send out their units. I have a couple hundred units I need to send out in front of them though.
1890  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: [CLOSED] Official FutureBit MoonLander USB Scrypt Stick Order Thread on: January 12, 2016, 09:37:07 PM
Shipments will start going out on Thursday morning. I am currently taking full payments for the first 15 or so orders on the order list. If your name is up to Row #22 you can send your full payment and I will have your stick shipped by Friday latest. Please have your payments in by tomorrow night or I will open up payments to the rest of the people and will have to skip over you. Keep in mind I will be out of country from the 16-23, so whatever I don't ship out by friday will have to wait until I get back.

Payment/Shipping Details

Final price for the stick is 32 USD. To figure out the total price to send to the main LTC address do the following complicated maths

  • $32 * number of sticks ordered
  • add shipping price
  • convert it to the current LTC price (around $3.5 per LTC)
  • subtract 2 LTC * number of sticks ordered from that amount

If you have already verified yourself(which most of you have) just send that amount of LTC owed to the public address FROM THE SAME LTC ADDRESS YOU ORIGINALLY SENT THE DEPOSIT and PM me with your TX ID and full shipping address. (if you don't know what that address was just look at your deposit transaction on the blockchain to easily find it.

Shipping Prices:

-All US based customers have a flat $5 fee for up to 5 sticks with standard shipping and tracking. If you want priority shipping (2-3 days) price will be $7 for up to 10 sticks (if you have ordered between 5-10 sticks it will be shipped out priority for $7). If you have more than 10 sticks please contact me for shipping price.

International customers please send me a PM with your full shipping address as I need to calculate it individually. Price will be between $8-15 for up to a few sticks. Keep in mind this price is for First Class International USPS shipping, there is NO tracking and shipment can take up to 6 weeks with this service. Your other option is Priority Mail international which I can ship out up to 10 sticks for $28. If you ordered more than 5 sticks I would recommend this option since it has tracking, and delivers in 6-10 days. I will not be responsible for lost or delayed mail if you use First Class.

I will be adding $10 value to the customs form to keep taxes low, so let me know if you want me to put a different amount.

Looks great! When's batch 2? I missed out on the first.

Unfortunately I bought the last ASICS in existence from this company so this is the one and only batch. I will definitely make more products if I can get my hands on any new chips. I could *possibly* repurpose the miners I have and salvage the chips if there is crazy demand for a second batch, but removing chips from boards is time consuming and costly in order not to damage them so not sure if its even a viable option.

No new info.  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Grin

Here you go Smiley

All the PCBs were finally finished today and assembly is underway. These are the first boards straight out of the oven! (sorry for the crappy pictures they are from my SMT shop that is assembling them). The timing sucks for these because I will be out of country from the 16th to the 23rd, and thought that I would have had these finished way before the 16th. I don't want to make any promises but I'm pushing to finish them up so I can ship them out on thurs/friday, but won't know for sure until tomorrow. It might end up that I ship the first orders I got before I leave and ship the rest out when I get back.

Sorry for the delay, but I did get screwed over with the holidays on my timing from manufactures and parts suppliers. Considering the holidays, and the fact that this is my first "mass" produced board with everything done by me from scratch; I have to say a month and a half from prototype to finished final product is a time I'm pretty happy with!

Yea they are very similar.

to anyone that bought extra for resell if you want to pm me i would like to pick one or two up. i know they were limited quantity so id like to get something setup before they are gone forever.

I have a batch coming. They'll be up on ASICPUPPY soon after receipt.

sweet, im going to try to get it to run off the R1..
Well unless it has been hacked or image changed I don't think it will work. It works with the compac as it is made to be seen as an U3, I doubt that is possible for this device.

I have built a custom bfgminer driver for this, with full support of all bfgminer features (no hacked pieced together driver). It will have auto-detection, frequency settings etc.  Any third party solutions that can run bfgminer as the backend interface will work with these, but you will need to install the version I will provide with the Moonlander driver included. The driver will also be pushed to Luke's main branch, so any miner software that uses bfgminer will just need an "update" run to work with my sticks.

Im compiling the final binaries and putting together a support/getting started thread so keep an eye out for that in the next few days.

wow the PCB glows...you must be using some cool new tech to run these.

Edit: Add to that this rather graphic bit on what can easily happen to an ASIC's power... http://powerelectronics.com/community/why-pdn-measured-using-vna-and-not-oscilloscope?page=1

resistive load step response:

Same load step with just 1 resonant node in the PDN:

Ahh yes I had lots of fun dealing with the transients in my design. At least for the scrypt chip I'm dealing with it was not that bad because the transients occurred at the end of each hash cycle...which for this chip was in the range of 10-20 khz, so even at a 250 kHz switch rate it was manageable and enough spacing to decouple any resonances. Im pretty sure SHA cores have hash cycles in the 100s of kHz, which would be pretty nasty for a 250 kHz buck.

Looking good jstefanop  Grin
Any idea on final cost per unit?

Final cost is $32 plus shipping.

Do you know when it will come time to pay for the rest we owe and shipping?  Just curious on time frame.

Not until I'm ready to ship your order out. Once I can ship it out within a day or two ill contact people in the order on the list. PCB manufacturer was swamped with year end orders and since I'm "low priority" they still haven't completed all my boards. They are promising they'll ship everything out to me on Friday, so if thats the case ill be able to start shipments by midweek next week.

some new pics and updates on the main thread! https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1248914.0

Alway's love new pictures to look at Smiley.  Any idea when we will see one with the black color that was selected?

I'm looking forward to seeing that color on PCB.

Here ya go, just got these pics from the manufacturer!

*saving space from pic

Really like the black!   It's going to turn out to be a nice looking miner it seems like.   Not many use black which I think makes it that much cooler.

I have still been playing with the prototype some and it is still working away.  So hope for good things from these Smiley

Yea I can't wait to get my hands on these. You guys probably didn't notice but I used 2oz copper on the production version. I was getting around a 50mv voltage drop from buck to ASIC at full power draw of around 10 amps on the 1oz prototype boards. This translated to almost half a watt of wasted power and extra heat. This will be cut in half with 2oz copper so final product will be even more power efficient!
