He's also good friends with another dubious "freedom" outfit: the Liberty Radio Network (who have a history of making bizarre mistakes during "liberty" activism, e.g. recently they were excommunicated from a local "liberty" organisation for advocating sex with children)

That's quite a charge. He needs to respond to it.

I'm generally skeptical of Randian libertards, as I have yet to meet one who would actually want to live in the world they argue for. Recently I challenged my local neighborhood libertard in a thought experiment. Since he always says "private property is the foundation of wealth and modern capitalism", I told him that logically he would favor a world where EVERYWHERE is private property. He bit this hook, and hilarity ensued...

So you stumped him with the old "BUT ZOMG WHO WILL BUILD THE ROADS?" canard?

Rand got a lot more right than she got wrong.  And I love how she is still able to give Marxists painful allergic reactions, causing them to wail upon contact with Objectivism.

Would you want to live in a world where EVERYTHING is public property?
1902  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ToominCoin aka "Bitcoin_Classic" #R3KT on: June 03, 2016, 07:02:21 PM
I posted a bit of a Classic take down on /r/btc: https://www.reddit.com/r/btc/comments/4mb6f8/classics_developers_are_almost_completely/d3u3on3  but it seems now that the thread has been hidden.  Nothing new to people here, but I thought it was an okay post.

Oh nice, it's been far too long since somebody made a good old fashioned Domination Post!   Cool

Quote from: nullc
Here is the development team listed in the release notes for Classic 0.12.1: Gavin Andresen, Jeff Garzik, Pedro Pinheiro, Tom Zander, Jon Rumion.

Gavin Andresen :Zero commits to Classic 0.12.1.

Jeff Garzik: Only commit to classic ever is changing a URL from Bitcoin Core to classic, no commits in 0.12.1

Pedro Pinheiro: No commits to 0.12.1 (only code contribution I see in Classic was a hardfork status RPC command that was broken; later fixed by ftrader)

Jon Rumion: Appears to have no commits to classic ever (it may be that they're using a pseudonym in the commit history, or only doing testing or binary builds and no development in 0.12.1).

Tom Zander: In 0.12.1 tweaked some documentation, removed a correct warning that classic nodes were operating under rules inconsistent with what a majority hashpower was signaling.

Copied from core: several bug fixes by Wladimir J. van der Laan, Pieter Wuille.

These kinds of comparisons are inherently pretty approximate, but the results are clear.

Quite literally, even though Classic 0.12.1 takes almost nothing from Core 0.12.1, the developers of Bitcoin Core managed to develop more of classic 0.12.1 than most of the "classic" team combined. And Classic's major novel contribution in Classic 0.12.1 is a clear anti-feature that hides useful information from the user.

In the last month, across all branches, Classic has merged 1 pull request, and had zero new unmerged proposals. By comparison, Core has merged 87 in the same period and 33 propose. Classic has fallen behind protocol development: failing to merge BIP 68 and CSV friends so far, though Core kindly wrote it for them.

To each their own-- they're not bad people for not getting anything done there. But this idea in /r/btc that classic is a functional competing system, just isn't supported by the data. A lot of allegations are made in /r/btc that Core has bad qualities or is unenjoyable to work with, but the reality is that core is very effective and vigorous, and classic is .. not.

This is precisely the outcome you get when you don't have a large, experienced, vibrant team that cares deeply about Bitcoin and the technology supporting the system. And it is the perfectly predictable outcome when someone tries to stage a political coup to over-ride the technical and fundamental-value based reality; and kick out a large and successful community effort.

Lets stop pretending.

Stick a fork in it, indeed.

Theymos, Maxwell, and their army of trolls and paid shills have turned this forum into a cesspool of veritable stupidity.  Cry

The Core shills have no brains  Cry

icebreaker is one of the worst trolls ever conceived  Cry

There you go again.

That's exactly the kind of "poutraged pique and self-pitying sulking" I was talking about.   Cheesy

I hope you can move onto the Acceptance phase of the Klassique grieving process very soon.

Also although I accepted zero payment for the work with Qora @vbcs (who did all of the Java coding) was paid in QORA for his efforts (so the work was not paid for in NXT).

The way you put it comes across as though the NXT funds were used to pay for the work done in Qora and that is 100% false.

You should also note that there was another developer who assisted with the initial work done on AT who stayed in Nxt and tried to continue the project (but because of Jean-Luc that never amounted to anything).

Do you regret developing AT primarily for NXT?

Would it be better to develop an open source version of shapeshift using that technology?

1906  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Roger Ver and blocksize on: June 03, 2016, 01:59:05 AM
I like Core,  but they are misguided on the economics of this issue.
I love Segwit, but it was supposed to be ready in April, and would only buy a few months of extra time if 100% of the wallets implemented it instantly.
I loved /r/Bitcoin and Bitcointalk, and was a daily user before all the censorship by Theymos took over.
Just look at /r/Bitcoin,  people aren't even allowed to see the up-votes or down-votes,  let alone post an opinion that is in disagreement with Theymos.
It makes me want to cry when I see how far things have strayed from the principles that early bitcoin users claimed to support.

In matters regarding the preservation of Bitcoin's incentive structure, Core's understanding of economics is superior to your own (LMK when you get a PhD in distributed systems, thus gaining credibility equal to Dr. Back's).

As a free market True Believer, you should have already accepted that as fact, since the socioeconomic majority is clearly behind Core (and loathes Klassique).

Instead we are treated to the spectacle of a supposedly pro-market Bitcoin Jesus Movementarian acting like a full-blooded Marxist, throwing his toys out the pram the instant he's relegated to (cranky, disruptive, contentious) minority status.

Gmax and I are apparently not on speaking terms due to disagreement over an ASIC pre-order fiasco in which we both (willingly) participated.

Having stated that disclaimer, I must remark upon your white belt level trolling.

Every single time you attack the socioeconomic majority, we effortlessly throw you to the mat and give you a friendly (hopefully educational) kick in the head.

But you learn nothing.

What are we to make of this?  How many times does XT/Klassique/Unlimiturd need to be dismissed by the market until you Get It?

As Bitcoin Jesus, I expect you to be first in grokking the ethos.  Instead, you do what you've been doing.

Hard to put words in your mouth when it is already occupied by Brian Armstrong's ****.   Cheesy

I can't believe I'm the only one seeing this:

This user is currently ignored.

hmyea nah, im seing this too, and for many others... such technology, great sensor ship!

but its carlton and lauda that keeps quoting them wackos..

I see that as well.  franky's nonsense cannot penetrate the hull of my stoutly built sensor ship!   Grin

Gmax is a saint for suffering through franky1 posts and responding in good faith, with such an indomitable hope of someday bringing light to the benighted Gavinistas.

Thanks to Pieter Wuille, Adam Back and Monero lead developer Riccardo Spagni for information and added feedback.

Nice article, understandable as well for the less technical readers. And a few very important last words:
"It's not clear that everyone agrees Bitcoin should be more private or fungible."

I sincerely hope Confidential Transactions gets implemented in Bitcoin one day, but don't see it happening. Lets lead by example.

Nice catch.  Go Fluffy go!   Cool

"Not clear everyone agrees" is an understatement, given the Blockchain Alliance's commitment to keeping Bitcoin firmly under the thumb of TBTB.

Given the booming cottage industry of Bitcoin blockchain analysis, CT might be relegated/limited to a role of damage control in the (future?) fungibility arms race.

Part of it would be to drive new traffic to his bitcoin.com and subdomains. He has a forum that is not doing very well and a casino to promote.

Ver's trolling is advertising for the shitty rump forum and casino he hosts on the exorbitantly overpriced bitcoin dot com domain.

He must be losing a ton of money paying for care and maintenance on that ghost town.

Thus the frequent shittweeting of clickbait, hoping someone besides Brian Armstrong will notice his hapless flailing.

The PAAP (Platform As A Platform) ICO fad is this

all over again.

ETH has sufficient critical mass to possibly succeed.

But the rest are hopeless wanna-bees, stealing noobs' lunch money using glittering promises of getting rich quick.

The Foundation has these MaidSafeCoins as a result of a technical issue with the Master Protocol (now Omni protocol) that resulted in an over issuance during the crowdsale.

The existence of these MaidSafeCoins has been known about since the crowdsale, and what to do with them has been discussed amongst the broader community on the SAFE Network forum.

It's the Dash Instamine all over again; a stunning display of incompetence, malfeasance, or both.

Infighting instead of collaberation. Which is more beneficial?

That depends.

For an antifragile project like Bitcoin, Litecoin, or Monero, infighting is good.

For brittle shitcoin trash like NXT, Dash, and Maid, infighting is fatal.
1920  Economy / Reputation / Re: CIYAM calls for an end to the bulls__t! on: June 01, 2016, 02:02:55 AM

Imo, NXT needs to be relaunched back from the original genesis block and start fresh.

You seem to have access to the best weed on the forum, may I have some?

If you find a dev to support your plan I'm sure you'll have 73 eager supporters, but that's all

In before NXT 3.0 Instamine and NXT Classic ICO....   Tongue
