The power consumption at the wall will be ~2500 Watt.

For the SP30, we'll use two 1200 Watt PSUs. We're evaluating:

Emerson              P/N DS1200-3-002
http://www.artesyn.com/power/power-supplies/websheet/401/DS1200

Murata                 P/N D1U3CS-W-1200-12-HA4C
http://www.murata-ps.com/en/products/ac-dc-power-supplies/1u-front-end/d1u4-w-1200-12-ha1c-6.html

ASIC Power Performance is 0.35 Watt / GH/s

AC2DC derating is ~0.92

DC2DC derating is ~0.85

Fans will consume ~60 Watt

(2500 - 60) * 0.92 * 0.85 / 0.35 = ~5.45 TH/s

The spec of the SP30 is 5.4 TH/s +- 10%

Just to clarify...

With 0.1 BTC I can reserve an order for an August SP30 5.4 TH/s miner for $4,495.50 - since I'm a pre-order victim (twice over: Bitmine Rig and KnCMiner Neptune, neither delivered yet) and assuming we can order over 250 units?

These are the same miners for pre-order on Spondoolies website?
SP30 Yukon - August Batch - 10% Discount  $10,795.50

So:

- Same miners. You'll need to compare with "Farmer's choice" prices: http://www.spondoolies-tech.com/products/3-x-sp30-yukon-august-batch
- Apply 10% discount for full payment and split by 3
- Yes, it's pre-order for our 2nd gen Yukon SP30 miner, available from July (already sold out)
- Buy sending 0.1 BTC, you're committing to send us full payment per the above, 4 days after reaching the 250 mark, or 4 days from Friday 25 if the group sale only reached the 50 mark
- If the group sale won't reach the 50 mark, RoadStress will refund you.

Is it clear ?

I'm committed Smiley https://blockchain.info/tx/08ed22796a01cea97de88a1649eea32ab6cff00e0556b2d3d9c00a5c5266e9ab

Now the questions... Huh

Payment terms? Due date and in BTC?
Delivery order kept in place? i.e. will Spondoolies ship orders for the group buy in order of the 0.1btc commitment?

Also,for general fyi...
Code:
from #ozcoin
[19:44:55] <+conman> the 10% is being offered by spond t hemselves
[19:47:54] <+QG> the 10% u get from the group buy fees? 0.1btc per order..
[19:49:16] <+conman> I have no vested interest in the company btw
[19:49:21] <+conman> just relaying what I read
[19:49:29] <+conman> they do sponsor some code from me tho

Cheers,
QG
Thank you. Since it's such a low price, we'll require full payment.
We'll honor the shipping queue. Always!

Thank you for your order.

Edit:
Payment is possible with BTC via BitPay.
Once we'll reach the 250 line, we'll start collecting.
Payment should be done within 4 days from requesting.

I don't want to clutter your thread with competitor comparisons, so I'll just stick with evaluating your offering.

You may be making a nice profit on each SP10, but your customers won't at the current prices. Here, take a look: Mining Calculator. Those "~20 days" are enough to kill any chance at a profit.

I'm calculating similar situations. Even if i mine in May and sell it in June, i make 2-3 BTC and i have to sell it for the June price: -1k$
German customs eat up another 19% to the price and power 38$ Cent/kwh is just to expensive. (Don't added cooling... It's summer soon!)

As much as i want one (or more), i find no profitable calculation for me here in my 38 cent/kwh +19% customs country.

Regarding S2, well, do you research. Read customers reviews.

My review is that I plugged it in and it mines. Quieter than I expected too.

That said, I wouldn't buy the S2 at current listed prices either, if it were in stock, which it isn't.

For you it did. It wasn't that hard to find, took me 2 minutes to pick some:

Many, many more.

How many did they ship and how many have had problems?

I know in the case of the S1, they shipped a lot, and there were constantly people on here reporting problems, yet I ordered over a dozen and had no problems with any of them.

You do definitely give up something in quality control when you buy a cheaper product, but in this commodity space, the cheaper product also gives you a major competitive advantage (as the buyer).

I'm not happy with the SD corruption issue, that one may still bite me. Spare SD on hand, but I haven't imaged it yet.

They rushed to ship with the S2, without minimum QA.
They did much better job with the S1.

Rushing adds value. Time to market is also a major competitive advantage for the buyer. The same product delivered two weeks later is worth about 15% less. Time pressure is intense here. Getting it "right," but too late, is still getting it wrong.

Assuming you're not one of the poor buyers who got defective unit.

Let me troll a bit:

I just realized that S2 + 2*S1 is roughly the same as spondoolies SP10.
S2 (batch 2) + 2*S1 price is  ~$4470 (incl. shipping) and if you bought S2 batch 2 you get it two days ago.

S10 is $4495 + shipping roughly $400 and you get it in May.

Just saying... lower your prices guys!

+1 ...I am waiting on the side line because...

First :price is too HIGH at the moment...around $3000 is probably fair now...IMHO...NOT in June etc...
Second : NOT in stock...like order to shipment in 1 (ONE) WEEK...not 2-3-5-or more weeks...

IF you manage FIRST AND SECOND ...I am all yours...and the market too...

Otherwise good job so far ...and good luck...

Thank you for your kind words. Already replied to the original thread, read back.

1932  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech launches a new line of ASIC miners - Best W/GH/s ratio on: April 18, 2014, 05:28:40 AM
- It's 7,200$ with proof of order from other vendor

Plus shipping brings it back up to nearly $8000. For someone without the 10% discount, it's even worse.

- It's less than 1.5 jumps, not 2 jumps

Even if it was only 1 jump (delivery before the end of April), the break even point will still not be reached.

And my difficulty adjustment estimations are quite conservative. If you actually deliver the sort of hashpower you are promising, then there's absolutely no chance of a new SP10 breaking even.
We can fine tune the shipping.
Our contribution to the hashpower was modest until now. It will be much more serious with the SP30 and later.
1933  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech launches a new line of ASIC miners - Best W/GH/s ratio on: April 18, 2014, 05:02:38 AM
Competitor:
On a good day you get 1.6 TH/s
On bad day you get below 1.3 TH/s
Only 4 ASICs, no redundancy built into the system.
They just changed their warranty policy from 90 days to 30 days for a very good reason.
SP10 power preformance ratio is much better (30%-40% less), meaning much smaller electricity bill or hosting bill.
4U vs 1.25U, again meaning much cheaper hosting.
Not relevant, but just that you understand the level of their engineering: we're 40nm, they're 28nm. NOT a good engineering. In fact, very bad.
We know the reasons for their fire sale. We can't elaborate, but it's not good.

We're giving 10% discount on showing us proof of purchase from other vendor.
With current production capability and queue status, we'll ship all orders given today well before May 10th.
For 7,200$ you can get 2.8TH/s +- 10% (usually plus) within ~20 days,

I don't want to clutter your thread with competitor comparisons, so I'll just stick with evaluating your offering.

- It's 7,200$ with proof of order from other vendor
- It's less than 1.5 jumps, not 2 jumps
- For bulk orders, we'll give larger discount and decrease shipping costs (bulk shipping)

Edit:
- With 25C ambient temperature, it's usually above 1.5TH: http://eligius.st/~wizkid057/newstats/userstats.php/1PzK2WeeB9GzZwzPPJfA2h1D25Hsv2yb5e
- We can't commit to that due to variance in the ASICs
- We're constantly tweaking the fw to get better results
1934  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech launches a new line of ASIC miners - Best W/GH/s ratio on: April 18, 2014, 04:02:57 AM
A nice piece of gear, but more hurry up and wait.  Very difficult to tie up 8000 for an order of 2 units and wait .  I can buy 100 grid seed 5 chip working units  for about 8000 and have them in under 3 days.
Sell 70 on ebay and mine with the other 30.  All of my profit has involved getting gear fast.

Oh well. My choices seem far and few right between  now.

I am still waiting on a 520 dollar refund from BFL since March 2103. And a return of .39345 btc from BIPS. since Nov 2013.
and 1.55 btc from hash fast since aug 2013.

I do not want to put in orders for gear that is not in stock.
Show us proof of order from other vendor and get 10% discount.
We don't stock, we build test and ship.
If you'll wait until May, there is a very good chance we won't have stock again and you'll need to order June, or wait again...

Do you guys have a video of the SP 30 in action or in a mining pool? Thanks.
As explained, multiple time, the SP30 ASIC is a (relative) simple die shrink (40->28) of the SP10 ASIC. We're taping out in the beginning of May, the ASICs will arrive in July.
We already sold out our July machines.

There's another competitor selling in-stock 1.6 TH/s units for $4800. Difficulty just jumped up to nearly 7B. SP10 pricing is looking worse and worse every day.

Edit:
Food for thought about the "competitor". We need to be careful here, so we'll just state known facts and raise questions.
In the semiconductors business, lead time takes 2-3 months. You simply can't create stock immediately. You need to order ASICs, mechanics and other electronics parts.
2 Weeks ago, the only batch they sold was June. Suddenly, out of nowhere, April batch emerged. Questions:

- Where did this stock came from ?
- Are those new or old machines ?
- When where they produced ?
- Are they doing self mining on large scale and competing with their customers ?
- If so, why stop doing it suddenly and sell the machines ?
- What is the reason for the fire sale ?
- What do they know and don't tell their customers ?
- Why the change of warranty policy from 90 days to 30 days ?
- Are they transparent with their customers ?
- Do they have good track record regarding delivery ?
- Do they have good track record regarding quality ?
- Do you want to support such a vendor ?

It's your money. Ask for transparency.

OK ... I've had this thread marked for a while, but only just had the time over the last few days to read a good many pages, also done a lot of research.

I'm quite struck by people's feedback about this kit, and the positive feeling that runs throughout the thread. The boxes look well made (not sure that the noise issue has been resolved, but couldn't quite find the answer to that) and Spondoolies look to be delivering the product.

To be honest, I have been waiting for Bitmain's batch 3 of their S2, but they seem to have a lot of ongoing issues with quality control. I'm running a load of Antminer S1s at present (All run solid as a rock, but power consumption is an issue).

So ... if I decide to invest in a SP10 box or two from Israel, I wonder what import (Customs/VAT) payment might be payable on delivery? Can anyone in the UK advise what they had to pay?

Many thanks.

I can't say for sure about that but there is hosted option to avoid that. Note that the hosting service already includes VAT.
