have to report - the 100 usd offer that was eventually honoured via a new order number has actually not been honoured at all.

the full price was paid and no refund/rebate has been forthcoming.

quite lame!
PM the issue in details.

Dogie, besides the new crisp pictures in your review, what new features come with SP35 and how do they relate to the earlier versions SP31 and SP30? Why should one buy a SP35?

here's my understanding:

SP31                                                       SP35

3000W @ wall                                                      3650W @ wall
4900GH                                                               5500GH
$2,595                                                                 $2,795

tldr; $200 more gets you 600GH/650W extra mining power. So the added benefits are fairly minimal - you're paying for better PSUs mostly.

From what I saw the SP31 looks to be a better long term investment, as the power usage to hashpower is lower.  However if price isn't an issue and you want the fastest beast known at the time, then the SP35 is the one to get.  Note that the SP35 won't run on a 110 line, so that may rule it out for some.

M
The SP35 can be undervolt /underclocked to be essentially SP31.

What kind of glue you are using?
...
3M's DP460

Edit: The glue has no purpose other then holding the heatsink during shipment.

Sexy!

The chipped corners reminds me of amd xp, durons... nice times!

It would be nice to have a miner with lga775(or newer) socket mounting holes! then i can be motivated to repair my cascade system for -80c cooling Cheesy

Does broken corner affect performance? My broken chip runs at 500 Hz comparing with other chips running at 650Hz
Very unlikely.

When I install those guides, I found out that one of the heatsink does not have those two drops of glue on its side, thus it can be easily tilt or shake by hands. I removed it, cleaned thermal grease, it turns out all of the chip's corner are broken. Without those 2 drops of glue, I can imagine it get knocked by each vibration during transportation

This is a weakness of the cooling system. Like Spondoolies-Tech pointed out, The RockerBox ASICs with the FCBGA package aren't suitable for mechanical stress, since its die directly exposed, and it is small: only 10x11.5mm in size.

The problem is, the heat sink is just too big for the small contact surface of the die, and it has only 2 point of tension. To make things worse, its tension is flexible because of the spring in each screw, this means it will just tilt to any direction and break the corner of the die with the least amount of incaution during install/transportation. So that's why they end up using some glue to permanently fix the heatsink on the board

And, to my surprise, the copper plate is just attached together with the aluminum heatsink with thermal compound without any screw.
They can slide against each other. This means most of the heat will be transferred to the heatsink by this layer of thermal compound, which has magnitudes lower thermal conductivity than either aluminum or copper. When installed, the pressure between them is decided by the spring of those 2 screws, and it is very weak (otherwise it will break the die)

The pictures you've posted shows a residue of the glue. Maybe not enough was applied to the specific ASIC.

Overall I would say this is hands down the best miner I have used to date.  The interface is extremely impressive and simple enough that I think anyone could feel like a pro.  I noticed it even has an option for plugging a usb wifi adapter directly into the SP20 to free yourself from the need of a network cable.  While I haven't tested that feature, I thought it was an awesome and unexpected addition.  I do have a few interface items for my wish list though.  The option to set your pools from failover-only to balanced would be nice and I didn't see a place to setup a static IP (did I miss it?).  The miner itself is great.  It's quieter, cooler, and more efficient than it's closest counterpart (Prisma) and is encased giving it a well built feeling.  I am definitely grateful to Spondoolies for the opportunity to review this product and I will keep my eye on their offerings in the future.  If you are searching for a miner, there is no doubt this is the best you will currently find on the market.
Thank you for the review.

Taken this second. So of the first 17 threads, 11 are review threads, 2 are other ST threads and 4 are other threads. This is the definition of spam.
Dogie, you do realize that people are playing with you ?
Instead of letting those threads sunk, you kept this spam thread alive.
Eventually, if you'll continue to post here and people will continue to bump those threads, Con will be forced to lock them.

I suggest no more posting here and no more artificial bumps.
(disclaimer: we don't initiate those bumps)

So Hardware was flooded for 3-4 days. It's not such a big deal.

As of this post, 7/10 review threads, +the SP20 unofficial thread, + the spondoolies thread are all active on the front page. In part, because you are being active in each and all of them.

I'll say it again, does anyone have an objection to Bitmain paying for 50 review threads? Seems not.
My involvement is a short courtesy thank you for the reviewer.
Be patient and most of the threads will sunk soon.
I did reply that I'll be happy to see 10 different reviews of a new BMT product.

I really don't understand all the negative attitude towards our legendaries review party. It's fun and harmless.
931  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Review ;)] Spondoolies SP20 + unofficial support on: December 20, 2014, 09:51:59 AM
... The unit has been functioning as per expectations ...
Thank you for the review and nice photos.
932  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Review 10] Spondoolies SP20 - Tortured on: December 20, 2014, 09:20:59 AM
...
Summary
The SP20 excels in quality construction and ease of setup. Provide a good PSU and turn it on. It'll adjust itself for maximum performance, even in a hot room.  Later when efficiency becomes more important, lowering the voltage will come in very handy. Recent price drops by Spondoolies make the SP20 one of the best buys in the market.
Thank you for the review.
933  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Review] Spondoolies-Tech SP20 on: December 20, 2014, 09:19:13 AM
LOL trust you to get the only one that doesn't adjust the fan.

Tried contacting support?

Not yet. I'm trying not to mess with my miner during the paycoin gold rush.
Perfect timing.
934  Other / Meta / Re: Spondoolies Spam on: December 20, 2014, 06:13:52 AM
So to continue this debate now we're in meta.... does anyone have an objection to Bitmain having 50 review threads (10 for each active product)? That's the same as ST did.

[/sarcasm]. I hope the answer is everyone, which highlights the need for a revised revision policy to prevent multi-spam of this nature.
I would love to see 10 different reviews of future BMT products.
We gave the products with no string attached, except doing fair review.
So Hardware was flooded for 3-4 days. It's not such a big deal.
It's much easier to track the conversation and review progress per thread, not in one big thread.

I believe that a better solution will be to create manufacturer sub folders under Hardware.
935  Other / Meta / Re: Spondoolies Spam on: December 20, 2014, 06:06:09 AM
There is only one way to fight this sort of spam... Other manufacturers need to also give away free mining equipment to Legendary members for reviews. That's the only way it will be fair.  Tongue
What a nasty suggestion  Grin

Edit: We have customers that use grcooling solution.

And they haven't posted pics so we can drool over their setup? What's wrong with them?
Nope. I didn't see it either.

...
So if they will want to make pre orders for SPXX, DON'T DO IT...
Your comment can be understood in several way:
- Don't do pre-orders?
- Don't buy pre-orders?
- Don't do reveiew party on future products (which can't be pre-orders)?
- All of the above?
- Some of the above?
939  Other / Meta / Re: Spondoolies Spam on: December 19, 2014, 04:45:00 PM
Smart move by Spondoolies, but what a bunch of bullshit spam.

Money talks!

Well played fight "spam" with a useless spam post!  Tongue
Adding some spam of my own  Grin

How come I see ads for SP20 miners when I visit my favorite porn sites? Don't you guys know I already own a bunch of them?
Care to share which porn sites ?

If it's coming from SPT, it couldn't be spam, which is clearly non-Kosher

Happy Hannukah
Yes, we're selling only Kosher miners, not manufactured in Shmita year.
