1962  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If Bitcoin is legalized, a dream of mine would come true on: June 16, 2023, 02:11:14 PM
Although many dreams of Bitcoin being "legalized" in their country, thinking that it would mean that everyone (or most) would start using it, I will just say that legalization in any sense does not necessarily mean that people will start using Bitcoin as a currency.

Just look at the example of El Salvador, where Bitcoin is legally regulated as legal tender, and data shows that even less than 20% of people in that country have used it or are using it. There are also many countries in the world where there is no obstacle to use Bitcoin as a means of payment, but few people will decide to pay for pizza or coffee with it.

If the OP got the chance to open a pizzeria in his city and put up a big sign "Bitcoin accepted here", and after a month nobody would pay with BTC, would he continue to believe in his dream or would he give up?
1963  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: User: Smith_94 here scammer and his telegram: @Smith4u on: June 16, 2023, 01:18:01 PM
If you have previously seen this member's offer on this forum without logging in, I'm not surprised if you fell for a scam.
~snip~

That's why there are flags, because guests really can't see Trust feedbacks, but any flag that has enough support from DT members is visible to everyone who visits the forum as a guest. If you log out and visit the link from the OP, you will see that the scammer has a very clear warning above his topic.

^^
Unfortunately, it's not only newbies, but many veteran members do not read the rules and don't know how this forum works. Many of these veteran members have been scammed here but they didn't have the guts to talk about it in public.
~snip~

There are those who don't read the rules, but there are also naive ones who really don't think for themselves. A few months ago, an old-time Legendary member sent me a PM thinking that I had contacted him via Telegram and wanted to buy his account, which of course was a complete lie. Being a veteran on the forum does not necessarily mean anything special, because there are many Legendary/Hero members from the old era who still act like beginners.
1964  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin - how low will we go in 2023? on: June 16, 2023, 10:45:13 AM
The price has fallen in the last few days and it did not look good, but currently it is going up again and I think there is a reason for that. The world biggest Assetmanager will submit an application for a BTC-ETF. I mean BlackRock. And I know BlackRock holds a big stake in MircoStrategy.
~snip~

I read that news in WO yesterday and I have to admit that it could be considered a positive sign, because today it was confirmed that an application has been submitted for a spot ETF, and we know that such an ETF has not yet been approved in the US. However, as I already wrote in the WO post, the SEC can extend the decision up to 240 days (if something has not changed in this regard), but if BlackRock succeeds, then it would be great news, after which the halving would follow.

It seems to me that it would be an explosive combination, which means a more than clear sign for a new big BTC pump.
1965  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 16, 2023, 10:29:04 AM
Spot ETF.  Smiley

It seems that the guys from BlackRock have decided to raise the game to a new level, and considering that it is, as Wiki says, "the world's largest asset manager, with US$8.59 trillion in assets under management as of December 31, 2022." maybe this time the SEC won't be able to just sweep the whole thing under the carpet.

However, they still have the possibility to prolong the entire procedure for a maximum of 240 days, which means that we will know whether they succeeded or not by the end of the year at the latest.
1966  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Recovery - Send your (encrypted) recovery phrase to 3rd parties entities on: June 15, 2023, 04:32:58 PM
@RickDeckard, regarding the video that caught your attention, I posted it on page 9 and had a little discussion with @Synchronice about it. I don't want to repeat myself, but I'll just say that Pascal's performance in that video reflects quite well the way Ledger as a company treats its users.
1967  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Problem Sending BTC using Ledger with Electrum Wallet on: June 15, 2023, 04:14:38 PM
I also did a little research into your problem and from what I found, the Ledger seems to claim that the problem is not with them, but that the problem is in third-party wallets like Electrum. Personally, I'm not technically advanced to understand why this is happening to you in the Ledger HW+Electrum combination, but I can say that I had a problem with these new versions of Electrum on Android also when it came to signing transactions.

What you could theoretically do is enter the seed generated with Ledger into Electrum (as wallet recovery) and then try to make a transaction to a new address. Then however you have to assume that this seed is no longer safe, so before that procedure you should move all other coins (if you have them) to the safety of the new wallet. It could theoretically be a new wallet on Ledger that you'll make by adding a passphrase and a secondary PIN.

However, users of third-party wallets such as Electrum might also see this warning message even if the public key or signature request comes from a legitimate wallet. This is due to the fact that these wallets use an incorrect derivation path, which can also be valid for Bitcoin. Unfortunately, there is no way for the app on your Ledger device to tell whether this path is legitimate. We encourage developers to derive and sign on the correct derivation path.

But does TOR for example work in China? I've always wondered about this.

According to what can be read on the official site TOR can be used in China, but requires some additional actions by users. It would be interesting to know how many people in China use TOR or VPN, or how many dare to go against the regime, given the penalties in that country. I assume that every ISP can see what the user is doing, and therefore I do not doubt that the Chinese ISPs in its fanatical surveillance monitors these activities as well.

There are three options to unblock Tor in China:

Snowflake: uses ephemeral proxies to connect to the Tor network. It's available in Tor Browser and other Tor powered apps like Orbot. You can select Snowflake from Tor Browser's built-in bridge menu.

Private and unlisted obfs4 bridges: contact our Telegram Bot @GetBridgesBot and type /bridges. Or send an email to frontdesk@torproject.org with the phrase "private bridge cn" in the subject of the email. If you are tech-savvy, you can run your own obfs4 bridge from outside China. Remember that bridges distributed by BridgeDB, and built-in obfs4 bridges bundled in Tor Browser most likely won't work.

meek-azure: makes it look like you are browsing a Microsoft website instead of using Tor. However, because it has a bandwidth limitation, this option will be quite slow. You can select meek-azure from Tor Browser's built-in bridges dropdown.

BlackRock Close to Filing For Bitcoin ETF Application.

Loading bags --> buy's MSTR shares --> launch ETF --> dump @$200k on retail n00bs buying the top.

What definitely catches the eye is the following text :

Quote
It wasn't clear if the ETF will be spot or futures. BlackRock did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
To date, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), which oversees ETFs in the U.S., has rejected every application for a spot bitcoin ETF, though it has approved several bitcoin futures ETFs for trading.

In other words, if it's another futures ETF, I don't see it making any significant difference considering all those who already do business in the U.S. Besides, the SEC is on the war foot and somehow it doesn't seem to me that they would approve the first spot ETF BTC, although maybe it's a matter of timing considering that the deadline in which the SEC gives its finally thought is even 240 days from filling.
1970  Economy / Economics / Re: I thought there was an egg shortage. on: June 15, 2023, 02:09:22 PM
I wasn't upset about the fact that the eggs have gone up in price, since everything else has become more expensive and whichever egg producer you ask why the eggs are more expensive today than two years ago, he will probably give you similar reasons.

What many cite as the reason is that the prices of poultry feed have increased, and of course fuel, electricity, water and veterinary services have gone up - and accordingly, the end product must be more expensive. Of course, there is also the situation with bird flu, which has been ongoing for years, and in some periods it intensifies in some areas, which leads to the fact that entire farms of laying hens have to be euthanized.

In addition, eggs are not what they used to be, not only because of the way poultry is kept, but also because of the quality of the food they feed on, and accordingly the nutritional value of such eggs is decreasing, and I believe that many eggs barely show the minimum limit of health safety.
1971  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin - how low will we go in 2023? on: June 15, 2023, 01:43:52 PM
Yeah, I have been in crypto 18 months now and it has just been a long 18 months and for the first time feel it testing my patience.

Congratulations on your first 1.5 years in the world of cryptocurrencies, and I hope next years will be at least a little less stressful for you. Since I know your story well, I hope you're a little less exposed to altcoins, and a little more in BTC and maybe some other alternatives.

I will hold though will not be selling anything and just keep reminding myself 2024/2025 will hopefully be better times for us all.

From your perspective, the year may look bad, but just remember the last few months of last year, and compare it to this year and you will see that the price of BTC has significantly recovered, and that means that all those who invested in it do not have too much to worry about. If you're into altcoins then it's definitely a different story given what's going on right now, but that was a risk you had to take from the beginning.

The question of how low the price will go this year is something that is difficult to answer, but obviously a lot depends on what happens in the US in the coming months. However, even if nothing were happening I wouldn't be surprised that the price is going down, because the moment we are in is still very unfavorable for any pumps that are speculated about.
1972  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Beware of Pig Butchering Scam! on: June 15, 2023, 10:58:38 AM
I have to admit that this is the first time I've heard of this expression, so although it makes sense it sounds a bit strange and creepy, because it's associated with butcher's and sharp knives.

When I read the article posted by OP, I immediately remembered one case that still seems quite amazing to me today, it is about an Italian volleyball player who for 15 years believed that he was in a relationship with a Brazilian supermodel, and it cost him an incredible $800 000. I think that in the context of "pig butchering" he is the best example of a very well-fed pig, although I believe that there are quite a number of those who have had similar experiences, but are ashamed to admit it publicly.

Unfortunately, we increasingly see that people spend more time online without socialization as it once existed, and then in search of friends or partners they become victims of an increasing number of scammers who unfortunately make the most of it. I think that one of the ways to prevent this is to educate children in families, but also in elementary school because then they best acquire knowledge and could protect themselves from such threats.
1973  Other / Meta / Re: Gateway time-out Error code 504 on: June 15, 2023, 10:27:20 AM
I checked Cloudflare Status and from what can be seen they seem to be doing quite a bit of scheduled maintenance these days, but there have also been some incidents that could have caused the problem that happened yesterday.

In any case, I think 59 minutes is something we can all endure, although no one likes when the forum is offline.

Everyone please welcome Lucius to Sinbad signature campaign family and in the Green Zone! Good to have you bud, welcome aboard.

Thank you for the opportunity to be a part of the campaign, and I hope to contribute in the best possible way. I'm also glad to be back in the same campaign with some members I've been in the CM campaign with for many years.

Good luck to everyone in the new week Smiley
1975  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ UEFA Nations League final four ⚽ on: June 15, 2023, 09:54:39 AM
Thanks Lucius, since the media is not giving much attention, specially outside Europe, it's not so easy to get good info about the matches, line-ups, news etc

You're welcome, I hope you find useful information, and it turned out that this time the media was right about line-ups.

My only bet is Croatia classification, I didn't put any money into goals under or over, I was not confident enough to guess the goals

My bet went through, both teams scoring a goal and 3+ goals in the game seemed like a gift.

1x1 right now  Cheesy
Well balanced match so far, without many surprises, I think this match is looking like it will get exciting in the final minutes and go to extra-time hehehe
Can you imagine, again Croatia in extra-time  Cheesy

I honestly thought that this time it would not be extra time and in fact it should not have happened that the football referee extended the match max 4 minutes and not even 6. Of course, this is not an excuse for the complete confusion that prevailed in those minutes when it came to Croatia, but they obviously cannot do without real drama.

However, the redemption came in extra time when Croatia played great and when head coach Dalic introduced Bruno Petkovic who scored a great goal, and for those who do not remember something similar he did in the match against Brazil in Qatar.

No matter how the game ends tonight, we're expecting a great game of the finals on Sunday. I'm hoping that Croatia will come out of this game as a winner, because these guys definitely deserve it. And as for the bookmakers, let them just underestimate Croatia again, I don't mind the high odds Cheesy

Majority of investors are quitting, what are you doing?

How did you come to that conclusion? It doesn't seem to me that most give up, but those who don't understand the rules of the game and think that someone will ban Bitcoin have always been weak hands anyway. If it's just those who have invested in altcoins, then I wouldn't worry too much, because if you invest in something that doesn't make sense or purpose sooner or later something bad is waiting around the corner.

I've already witnessed moments when people are a bit desperate and waiting for some big pump, but if they haven't learned by now that they shouldn't hope for it before halving, then they'll probably never learn.
1978  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ UEFA Nations League final four ⚽ on: June 14, 2023, 10:44:46 AM
Which website do you check the news of the Croatian team?
In my opinion, the line-up is great, with no surprises and with players that are used to play with each other

I used one local source, and if you want to read today's article and you have no problem translating the article this is the source. Of course, the final line-up will be known only before the game, but in my opinion the only doubts are about the players who should replace Gvardiol, where suddenly there is talk of a veteran Vida who should get a chance instead of Erlic.

Of course, it's all part of the game before the game, so you shouldn't expect it to be just as it is presented by the media.
1979  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: My worries with ledger on: June 14, 2023, 10:26:58 AM
@Synchronice, If people didn't react appropriately when hundreds of thousands of personal information leaked from their company, I don't think most people care if their seed is put at risk at some point. Unfortunately, in the thinking of one of their average clients, this famous recovery is perhaps even something positive, especially for those who believe that Bitcoin should be insured in the way that their fiat deposits are insured in banks.

For those who understand the difference between fiat and Bitcoin, of course, this does not make sense, but for those who are only there for profit and do not care too much about their privacy and security, it all comes down to how skillfully something is presented to them.

Same mindset remains regarding possible new participants. Keep applying if you are a prominent member or a previous Chipmixer participant.

I can't say if I'm a prominent member, but I've been a CM participant for over three years. This campaign seems to have very strict criteria Wink
