201  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: FixedFloat.com stole my funds on: April 17, 2024, 06:58:34 PM
When they've changed their domain into ff.io which is what they're using now, they should have given the notice and reasons of changing it. But then, if you're going to visit them now, they're in technical stuff and maintenance. With the date that you've used them OP, that's likely when they've experienced the 2nd hack CMIIW.
They did explain reasons why they changed domain name, I think they posted more information about that on their twitter page after first hack happened.
However that doesn't change the fact that fixedfloat is exchange with bad reputation, louse security and they randomly asked for kyc, so maybe they pissed off some wrong people along the way.
202  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scammer trying to sell my design for $3000 on: April 17, 2024, 06:54:08 PM
Anyways, I just wanted people to be aware this forum is a cesspool of scammers. I've reported 3 so far, none were even negatively reviewed. (negative trust)
I will keep opening these whenever I spot a scammer tho.
Nothing is stopping you to give them your own negative trust feedback.
Other members can follow that if you presented good enough case with enough evidence.
I am not saying member your mentioned is not a scammer but negative feedback should be given carefully, not easy like candies.
203  Other / Meta / Re: Reply without bumping? on: April 17, 2024, 03:44:23 PM
Maybe we could implement something similar as one of the "addictional posting functions" but for all boards?
I don't think this is going to happen any time soon.
It's not so hard to bump any topic with new post, and if you want to warn moderators about scammers, trolls and suspicious posts you can do it simply with Report to moderator button.
204  Other / Meta / Re: Post per day/ per month falling. on: April 17, 2024, 03:39:24 PM
Censorship
It's increasing all the time... and I am just waiting to see what is going to be next on the line to be censored, probably something related with privacy again.

prominent members (or as I thought) turning out to be dickheads, can't see myself reading anything other than my local board (so much unnatural and boring content elsewhere). At one point I can see myself just leaving.
I do agree with you on many things you said, but don't give up just yet.
You contributed forum a lot with your projects like Ninjastic.space website and telegram bot, and this place will became worse if you leave now.
Some ''prominent'' members are just shooting themselves in the leg  Tongue

206  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Would You Recommend Investing Binance Pays 9.70% Interest on USDC on: April 16, 2024, 09:11:10 PM
I would like to transfer my funds to Binance and earn 9.70% on USDC. Do you believe this would be a smart move?
No this is not a smart move at all.
You are sending your coins to centralized exchange so you don't have control over keys, coins are probably going to be locked, and CZ is currently held hostage in US so anything can happen with Binance.
I don't understand why anyone would hold stablecoins, except for temporary trading instead of using fiat currency, but it's your coins so you can do whatever you want.
207  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Wallet for Android / Re: It could be possible create a safe wallet with a Chromebook? on: April 16, 2024, 08:56:54 PM
Well, thanks to all for contributions. There are several guides on how to install linux on a chromebook but I am trying also to generate a key without software. Or at least it would be the last option.
OK, but I don't understand what this has to do with your Chromebook...
You can always use dices if you don't want to use any software, but be careful to follow instructions for stronger encryption, and you will need to use something to calculate the last word.
Seed words work much better than single private key because you can use it to generate multiple bitcoin addresses.
208  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: 55 Hardware Wallets, compared feature by feature on: April 16, 2024, 08:44:38 PM
Approaching the upcoming halving, Ledger is offering a purchase promo until April 15, 2024.
Maybe you should try not to promote stuff like this here, it is off-topic and has nothing to do with thebitcoinhole website topic.
There are plenty of other topics for ledger hardware wallet to post their crap voucher promotions.

I see new section was release for Bitcoin inheritance, so far there are five services listed:
https://thebitcoinhole.com/inheritance

@maxirosson
Can you please check if some correction is needed for Safepal hardware wallet and coin control?

209  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Tangem Card Secure Crypto Cold wallet + 10% OFF All Products on: April 16, 2024, 08:37:12 PM
Sorry, but what Satochip is doing better? It is not problem for the back up technique used by Tangem cards   to  provide  me the access to  my stash in the case when the relevant SEED/PIN is completely forgotten/lost  but what about Satochip  cards?
They are doing everything better.
First they are open source, that is huge advantage, and they have several option for hardware wallets, and as cold storage for seed words.
You can literally buy blank java cards and load Satochip code, it will work perfectly.

I don't like the fact that Satochip can be accessed via card reader. The Tangem's chip of 1x1 mm size is deep inside card.
That is silly statement to say about any card, they are all very thin, there is nothing ''deep'' in them.

The closed source is their firmware but it is flashed only once (during cards production) and checked twice  by  Kudelski Security  and Riscure companies. Any other upgrade/update is not possible.
Ok, you go ahead and trust those companies  Roll Eyes

210  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] Satodime - Bitcoin Halving - Limited Edition on: April 16, 2024, 08:26:54 PM
Very cool Bitcoin Halving design, but why making it only Satodime when you could do the same for Satochip and Seedkeeper?
I understand that Satodime can be used more as the bearer cold storage, but I think this design would work perfectly for Satochip.
€35 for one card is not bad, especially when only 50 united will ever be released.

I am sharing a few more real life images from this halving limited edition card:

211  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: FixedFloat.com stole my funds on: April 15, 2024, 08:44:06 PM
I used FixedFloat.com (also known as ff.io) on March 26. They kept my funds, claiming it came from criminal activity, and refused to conduct the exchange or give a refund until I proved the funds were legit.

In actual fact, the crypto I sent them came from a refund from CoinGate (a legitimate crypto payment processor).
I remember similar case with fixedfloat was posted several months ago and they claimed that coins from user was also coming from criminal activity, but this guy showed proof that coins came from Coinbase exchange.
After this I came to conclusion that if FixedFloat exchange is not a scam (this can be debated) than they are silly amateurs who don't know anything about blockchain analytics, and they are randomly confiscating coins from their customers.
Getting hacked twice in the same way makes them a big joke, and I would avoid their service at all cost.
212  Other / Meta / Re: Long codes messing up the post history appearance. Solutions? on: April 15, 2024, 08:38:59 PM
Why aren't the long codes in the post history displayed in the same way they appear in threads?
I never liked those stretched pages, mostly when I search post history, and I think it happened even with some signature codes that are not so long.
I don't know why this is happening but it is probably a bug and looks like it's time for another PowerGlove SMF forum patch  Cheesy
213  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is possible to add this feature on ninjastic.space ? on: April 15, 2024, 08:28:16 PM
I think adding the Custom Date Range option in this place of the board activity overview interface will make our life more easier. This is my humble request to Tryninja.
You should make this suggestion directly to member TryNinja or write in ninjastic.space topic, there is no need to create separate topic about that in Meta board.
I just checked and there is an option to select custom date range when you are searching something in ninjastic.
214  Other / Meta / Re: Post per day/ per month falling. on: April 15, 2024, 08:23:45 PM
I came across the chart of the posts per day and month in ninjastics and was surprised that it has been falling for the last days /month  despite the halving of this year.
Bitcoin halving has nothing to do with activity in bitcointalk forum.
This downtrend is happening for some time but main reason for recent drop is probably decision to ban mixer signature campaigns and anything that is connected with mixers in any way.

Is there a reason For this continuous fall in posts?
Old members are getting less active, some of them are inactive, and in general people don't use forums so much as they did before.
215  Local / Off-topic (Hrvatski) / Re: Kutak za kulturni trenutak (filmovi, serije, knjige etc) on: April 15, 2024, 06:48:30 PM
216  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How can I anonymously get Monero with Bitcoin or Ethereum? on: April 13, 2024, 07:00:55 PM
I'm wondering what the best ways to get Monero without linking it to my Coinbase account are. With the lowest fees possible, of course.
There are several non-kyc exchanges that have listed monero, and Bisq is one of the best options as decentralized exchange.
Other alternatives are LocalMonero or Agoradesk p2p trading, Unstoppable swap, eXch exchange, etc.
Some centralized exchanges still have monero listed but I would be very careful with them.
217  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Using testnet as a security option. on: April 13, 2024, 06:56:38 PM
Has anyone tried using the Testnet to conceal their Bitcoin wallets? It seems to me that using the Testnet as an apparent primary Bitcoin wallet, and switching to a mainnet wallet for real transactions, would introduce a level of obfuscation that may fool some less sophisticated attackers or investigators. You could also maintain a variety of wallets on external drives to increase complexity.
That could only reveal that you are advanced Bitcoin user, and that you probably have more mainnet coins than the average Joe.
Having multiple decoy wallets with smaller amount of BTC would probably work better, that can easily be done with passphrases.
I would not hide anything with testnet coins, but I would keep some of them as an easy and free way to teach others how Bitcoin works.

218  Other / Meta / Re: Sorting Search Results - Basic search limitation on: April 13, 2024, 06:44:26 PM
Re-running searches (sending a POST request again) can be more CPU/IO intensive than rearranging existing results on the fly. Is this something only SMF can help us with or can bitcointalk do something about it?
You should try using ninjastic.space website when you want to search for something in forum, it is giving very good results and it is usually much faster.
I guess someone could make another patch to improve forum search, but it is never going to be good enough.
219  Other / Meta / Re: The effect the mixer ban has had on the forum. on: April 12, 2024, 05:56:56 PM
I suck at designing signatures myself so I would have to shell out a few hundred to jayce if I want to make another set of signatures. Smiley
You might want to talk with members who already have or had similar free signature campaigns in forum.
I don't think it's that much expensive to make simple signature and there are also members who can do this job for free, since you don't need anything complicated or fancy with many elements.
220  Other / Meta / Re: AI generated content by newbies on: April 12, 2024, 05:53:51 PM
I don't want to automate anything related with AI, and don't fully trust any tool that is checking for AI generated posts, but using multiple tools is making those chances much higher.
Whenever I am checking if member is using AI tools for writing their posts I am checking all their post history, not just a single suspicious post.
