2041  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Ratings Now Cut Both Ways, So Don’t Sass Your Uber Driver... on: February 02, 2015, 12:05:54 AM

People routinely use the Internet to review services from plumbers to hairdressers. Now the tables are turned. Companies are rating their customers, shunning those who do not make the grade.

Hussein Kanji insists he is not a bad Uber passenger.

“I’ve asked drivers to turn up or down heat, to not play music loudly, or to roll up windows,” Mr. Kanji, a London venture capitalist, said. “I can’t imagine why they would lower my passenger score.”

They apparently did. The wait for a ride suddenly became interminable. “For about three weeks, Uber was basically unusable,” Mr. Kanji said.

Customer reviews are a new form of credit report, one that measures comportment instead of finances. Although such ratings have been tried before — eBay was a pioneer — the practice has taken off with the rise of the so-called on-demand economy.

Not too long ago someone here asked us for help to boycott uber. It seems uber can boycott you too...

Smiley

That is a change.
Banks have always rated their customers, now other companies are following suit. Smiley

Haven't you heard - there is a good taliban and a bad taliban as well.  Tongue

Okay, I really hope someone can help. I don't have a checking account, I have my brothers credit card, I want to buy some bitcoins and send them to my wallet. I've followed everything everything has told me to no avail. Can someone help me achieve what I want to do?

Which country are you in?
2045  Other / Off-topic / Re: Are you spending your Bitcoin? on: January 31, 2015, 08:10:33 AM
Anyone spending Bitcoin right now is making the price go down and down.  The more it gets spent the more the value will decrease.  The only thing we can do is to hold onto your coins and buy some coins to make the value go back up

Value doesn't matter. Adoption does. We have to encourage merchants who offer the bitcoin option.
This will help the price in the long run.

You might want to change the topic title to newbies (instead of newibes).  Tongue
2047  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Death Penalty for Drug Smuggler on: January 30, 2015, 03:34:29 PM
A few years ago, one of the death row inmates in Indonesia had his sentence commuted, after he converted to Islam. Another well known example is that of Australian model Michelle Leslie. She was arrested for drug possession. She claimed that she had converted to Islam, and the judge gave her a lenient three months sentence rather than a mandatory 15 year term.

This is ridiculous!!!
What do you do if you are already a muslim?  Grin

Russia has a lot of snow. And Putin. That's basicall all =)

Yet, if Russia can maintain its hold on what it has, including Siberia, it has fabulous riches and wealth untold.

Most of its treasures are under its land. They have to be tapped.
2050  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Skepticism of BitcoinTalk User on: January 30, 2015, 03:24:48 PM
I recently started a new topic on Satoshi and where he is (In terms of online), and someone claimed to be him. I am really skeptic and doubt the identity, if any can confirm it please do.

Link to topic: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=936002.msg10295147#msg10295147

I am not advertising. I want to know if the person is plain trolling or is it him.

Are you seriously considering that he could be Satoshi? Why would Satoshi ever want to reveal himself on your thread?  Tongue
2051  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 1 satoshi transactions without fee on: January 28, 2015, 02:42:13 PM
How do i send 1 satoshi transactions without fee is that possible and with which wallet and also how do i send to multiple addreses?

Thankfully, most of your attempted transactions will get rejected because of the rules in place.
Such spam will result in the blockchain getting bloated.
2052  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Quick Noob Question ? on: January 28, 2015, 02:40:00 PM
Just checking my overall grasp of bitcoin as a currency and have this question. Let's say I own 1 bitcoin, currently at $200 (example) and in a few days, bitcoin price/value drops to 0. This is not a question about why, I'm asking to understand the value/price market itself. If it drops to 0 is it possible it can, like in an hour or a day or however long, go back up?

If that is possible it can go to 0 do I still have 1 bitcoin valued at nothing but that would just go back up when the market price/value goes up or is it a case that if it can go to 0, that bitcoin vanishes and even if it went to 1,000 a day later I no longer have a bitcoin?

Confusin' a girl!

Yes, you would still have 1 bitcoin.
Think of it as a physical coin. No matter what its value is, you will still have 1 coin.
2053  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: mixer on: January 26, 2015, 04:31:30 AM
Bitmixer.io is a popular mixer here.
What you have to consider is the fees involved in mixing. Is it worth it?

This is something they do to secure the network.

2058  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Anyway to put price ticker in signature? on: January 24, 2015, 11:31:55 AM
No, you can't put a price in your signature. Roll Eyes

Of course you can.
Just program a bot to change your signature every second/minute/hour.

Sure but what's the use of buying a server for this sort of things, anyone could just go to a online ticker, problem solved and no time is wasted for coding the bot.

You don't need to buy a server for that. Even your PC which stays connected to the net could be used to implement this.
2059  Economy / Speculation / Re: Taking a loan to buy bitcoin on: January 21, 2015, 12:33:45 AM
Hmm. No posts from the OP since December '13 and most of them are yelling 'buy'. There's a lesson in there somewhere, kids.

If he got a loan from a bank and couldn't pay they send round debt collectors. If he got a loan from a loan shark and couldn't pay they send round heavies. I hope the OP is OK.

Well back in December it was at least enough time to get out of the game. The price didn't go below $900 for the time being until January! He could've liquidated his assets and got out of his loan. But If he really took a loan, I don't think this is how it played out. Peoples' minds don't work like that...

People take loans in the hope that they make a killing. He would have waited it out.
