Telling him to quit is soft and won't move him from his addiction. Continuous reminders about telling him that he has to look around and that the effects of his addiction on his family are certainly worrying. It's no longer a healthy thing and that's why he needed to think of his activities since it's becoming harmful not just to him but also to his family. This shouldn't be a problem for him if he's moderating it but right now, he needs to moderate it. He can't be in whole stop, this just can't happen from someone who's addicted to gambling, it needs some process and moderation because a gradual process needs to happen. Unless he feels something is wrong with him and he immediately asks @OP for help, @OP has to help him out of his gambling problem. But we know that most gamblers will not realize they have a gambling addiction but refuse to tell the truth. Maybe what @OP can do is tell his friend to reduce the amount of time and money he spends on gambling so he can slowly overcome his gambling addiction problem. His friend must learn to control himself when gambling and limit the money for gambling. Maybe it's hard for his friend but worth it because it will help him escape his gambling addiction. An addicted gambler won't feel that there's something wrong and I feel the sense of urgency of what OP has stated because he feels guilty of what happened to his friend and he's got the influence before it happens. The continuous conversation to his friend will keep him reminded that there's an actual wrong thing that's happening to him because he can't notice it. I’m looking to invest 10k, I’m trying to decide if to go with XRP or ADA.
In terms of holding I can do it for 1-3 years no real time limit. Not sure what returns I might get short term vs long term. ADA for example i might get 3 to 4 x return, however with XRP that might be a lot more should they win the court case.
My slight worry is what happens if XRP lose.

Honest opinion about XRP. Not that much movement since the 2017 bull market. It has reached $3 but then it had never been back there again. But then, we don't know what's with the future of XRP, especially with the SEC case whether it will be clear or not but to have that optimistic thought about them that it should be cleared and clean, then I think that it will create that perfect moment that shall boost the price of it which is as usual in the market when good news comes to a certain project. But the main factor that will be affected is the bull run that we will see and I don't know if it's going to add and contribute to the price of XRP because that's what we've seen for the past years. |

I thought HODL stands for "hold on dear life" as you hold on your funds waiting for the right timing to have your calls. I don't used this method as you just wait for the high pump of the Bitcoin without guarantee when it will happens since its a volatile system. Plus in the term HODL, if you wait for profit and you'll need some money then it's not recommended. In the OP list mentioned above I'll stick into trading as you can control whenever to buy and sell for you to profit, of course its not that easy there's also the risk that your money get liquidated. Still its up to you whatever strategies suits for you, you don't have to follow anyone's capability as we have different skills and knowledge when it comes to crypto. What I consider to be misleading is a newbie trader not having the required knowledge to conduct thorough research using the fundamental and technical analysis before trading and also choosing altcoin instead of Bitcoin at the early stage of their trading journey.
I think it's understandable if a newbie trader doesn't do that. From the root word itself, they're just newbies and don't know much about FA and TA. But it's a good start as they'll get to know the actuality of what trading is and much better if they're able to earn from it. Another mistake that I believe is misleading for newbie traders is not choosing a reputable and secure trading platform.
This is just a problem of their preference but I guess most of the newbies heard of Coinbase, Binance and other popular exchanges that has been talked in the mainstream so, for me this isn't really a problem. |

First, I do not advise you to spend 40,000$ to invest in one currency only, it is better to diversify, but if you are convinced of the idea of Bitcoin, it is definitely the best option.
I'll put that all in one basket and that's Bitcoin. But the goal OP is ambitious and I've never thought that crypto will make me a billionaire even for Bitcoin. If someone still believes in the power of meme coins, this could be the gamble of your life. But I'll take a safer route and that's to only buy bitcoin with that amount and if I'll diversify that, maybe just $1k-$5k or even $10k but for the likes of Ethereum. Maybe BNB could also be a good choice but then aside from those choices, matic is what I'm interested in as of this moment. |

You can learn it on your own and there are a lot of video materials where you can learn it for free or even pdf files that you can start reading which are given for free as well. There's a different between learning it to a professional but they'll also just teach you the basics of it and most likely, they're not active traders anymore but just stayed as an educator that aims to help new traders that are on their way. And of course, it could come with some fee and it might not be free. One of the best teachers is to learn it with actual trading as you try to read and make your own TA also, do not forget that no TA can beat the market. |
