2181  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Who will win, FTX or BINANCE? on: November 08, 2022, 05:51:41 PM
For me, this is not good for the cryptocurrency industry if there will be a loser here. We all know FTX and Binance exchanges are huge and well reputable.
Let's say FTX will be rugged and forced to shutdown, then it will be a loss for the crypto industry, regulators for sure will take this as a lesson and become more strict in regulation cryptocurrency even with how big or good the exchange is.
That's exactly my thought too. It's not even about who wins but the scar that will be left on the crypto industry. Those two are major players in this industry and for them to dance naked publicly shows the unnecessary display of ego in man. Now, these two elephants are fighting; it's the grass that suffers it. Again, this incident is more likely to make SEC and other regulatory bodies begin to poke their noses into both exchanges. Unnecessary invitation.
2182  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Rise of Dollar is Affecting Nigerians to Buy Bitcoin Right Now. on: November 08, 2022, 04:37:36 PM
I bought at the present dollar rate to the Fiat currency which is 875 Naira per 1$ x 19.18 = 17,035 and 0.00098 BTC in Naira is 16k. I didn't check it before I bought it because I was very much Happy to buy Bitcoin with the local currency.
The current exchange rate as I type this on Binance P2P is between N825/$ to N830/$ but you know how sellers are often reluctant to reduce price once they've once sold high. Last week, some of us sold at N860–N870 and I think that was the highest it got. The naira is pushing and regaining strength against the dollar at the moment and I wonder why anyone will still wish it continued to crash or exploit another's navity on that.

Quote
As it is I don't think Nigerians can buy Bitcoin because of the present situation of Dollar rate and the bear market but any how some are still buying.
Even when it gets to N1,000/$, there are still people who will buy it. The fiat versus dollar value won't prevent anyone who's serious in buying it from buying when the time is right for them.
2183  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: No Alternative to Bitcoin, Your Alternative is Bitcoin. on: November 08, 2022, 04:22:06 PM
Bitcoin is for everyone but if people don't want to use it, let them be. Especially the elderly who are less ready to accept Bitcoin. The younger have more interest in Bitcoin and new technologies, they are current and future Bitcoin adopters.
Nothing is ever for everyone, no matter what, and Bitcoin isn't an exception no matter how we want to push it into mass acceptance. If just 10% of the world population embraces Bitcoin it's still a huge plus. Like you indicated in your second sentence, we don't have to coerce anyone into it. That's why my earlier post negates the idea of Bitcoin being the only option. There are several alternatives in every industry and in life too.
2184  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BITCOIN VS LANDED PROPERTY on: November 08, 2022, 02:26:17 PM
* Easy sorting
You can say that now because its ease of accessibility is increasing by the day. I can tell you for free it wasn't as easy as it's now buying Bitcoin in the past. Let's say the early days of Bitcoin with limited exchanges and outlets to buy from. A lot of those who wanted to invest then got swindled. Perhaps, those licensed property agents who are digitalized won't find it difficult with sorting unlike those who do theirs manually.

Quote
* Availability
* Ease of Trading
The same as sorting issue. There are many interested traders (buyers and sellers) now and that makes it almost seamless transacting in Bitcoin.

Quote
* Faster D.O.R
I bet you need to buy at the wrong time to experience that it isn't all rosy with Bitcoin too in terms of profit making. Those who bought at ATH of $68k+ are still sobering up from that experience.
2185  Economy / Speculation / Re: How fast will Bitcoin fall down? on: November 08, 2022, 06:00:10 AM
On Coinmarketcap, there are over 21600 altcoins, yet bitcoin increased in value as the adoption continues.
To even think there were just 750 of them in January of 2017 when I joined this forum and now that whopping gap of almost 21,000 extra in less than six years says much about this industry. It's growing and evolving. Yes, despite all the additions none has been able to match Bitcoin. I would've expected that Ethereum topped it because of its smart contract. ETH does what Bitcoin can do and has an extra in its smart contract but ETH has continued to disappoint in that direction. It has an edge but then I know some people will argue that it's because ETH is centralized while Bitcoin is decentralized.
2186  Economy / Speculation / Re: The pump isn't coming sooner on: November 08, 2022, 04:48:25 AM
Facts are sacrosanct and the fact still remains that no one truly knows where the market is headed. Otherwise, the richest person on earth will always be a trader. We can only speculate in this industry. You're of the opinion that the dump is still here and that those who think it's over are wrong. Sadly, you failed to support your position with TA or facts. Well, my expectations for Bitcoin this November is a correction upwards. That we've seen a few days now, except for yesterday and today that it's dipping again.
2187  Other / Meta / Re: Do we care why people were banned? on: November 07, 2022, 09:40:22 PM
Even without displaying the reason for which a user is banned, I believe it will be reasonably helpful to have tags for members who are banned on their profile. A simple ban notification would do. It can be displayed on the avatar space just the same way we've merit and activities displayed without anyone having to check users BPIP first to find out. At least with such I strongly believe that users won't be wasting their merit on banned accounts anymore.
2188  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bear market Survivals on: November 07, 2022, 07:50:50 PM
Any coin that survives this bear market will do well come the bull season
It's looking more like it as time goes on, honestly. Many projects are folding up as the bear season bites harder and deeper. I was reading in another thread where that OP was asking about Litecoin and the silence that has greeted it. I had a look and found out it's not really doing badly at $68 and ranked 21 on the list. I remember when it competed strongly and was among the top 10. Now, many of these coins seem forgotten. It's often the pattern during a bear season. Those that survive it become better for it.
2189  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: do you consider lie price an entry point on: November 07, 2022, 07:04:13 PM
Is low price a determinant factor to open a trading position?
If that isn't an essential determinant then I wonder what else should be. Entry and exit prices are very important in trading. A fairly low entry guarantees better profit and that's what traders look out for. It justifies the trading parlance of "buy low, sell high". It's the entry position in trades that distinguishes a profitable trader from one who struggles to make ends meet.
2190  Economy / Reputation / Re: Recognition and Challenge on: November 07, 2022, 06:06:18 PM
All I can tell you is that it's hardest when you try to please people. You lose your identity and run into identity crises. Just be yourself and pick the niche that suits you. Don't force yourself into any confined appellation, you will end up not liking it. If you need to be a detective, take a detective job outside the forum and wear that badge.

You do not need to contribute to the forum. You just need to read, search and share information, that's how the forum looked and evolved.
Read the forum rules, report the spam, so you will have provided a good service to the forum.
You only ended up making your comment confusing with those two ambivalent submissions. Even, "sharing information" in your first paragraph is a way of contributing to the forum.
2191  Other / Meta / Re: Want to Know on: November 07, 2022, 05:24:38 PM
Yes @DdmrDdmr sir ,, I collected all screenshot from wall observer (WO) . Actually I don't know why the most active legendary member worn cap in their profile. Today @Renampun cleared me , they wear cap as just for fun .
In addition, another way one could look at it, could be what cap connotes when they say idiomatically, "He who the cap fits, let them wear it." It's my way of rationalizing it any time I come across a cap avatar. By the way, you're right. WO is the part of the forum to find users who aren't into paid campaigns.
2192  Economy / Reputation / Re: Bounty managers and newbie bounty hunters on: November 07, 2022, 03:36:34 PM
~snipped~
How interesting. I think you know the whole purpose of bounty companies, don't you?
Well, I suspect I do know a bit about bounties. I participated in the past, saw the good and the ugly of it. I benefited from some as a hunter and lost many too. I dare say that not all bounties are scams and I believe it's on that premise that many hunters subscribe to help advertise them. However, I don't think that feeling is mutual between hunters and the bounties because some of these bounty projects have it set to scam the public from the beginning. I once called out a project here in the past and it was on a scammy behaviour. Going forward, my candid advice is for newbies who indulge bounties to put in more efforts at their posts so they can rank up. With that they can get into Bitcoin paying campaigns.

Quote
No one is forcing them to advertise scams at gunpoint. So stop being very compassionate. If a thief has nothing to eat, this does not justify his theft.
I'm only speaking in defence of the innocent ones who are in genuine need of money and erroneously believe that enrolling in bounties is the way out.
2193  Economy / Reputation / Re: Bounty managers and newbie bounty hunters on: November 07, 2022, 02:02:15 PM
But in addition, no one will forbid beginners to create and subsequently participate in subscription companies.
Sometimes, I feel for these beginners because I know an appreciable number of them enrol in bounties so they can make some money to put food on the table. Sadly, most projects exploit their navity and deny them what is rightly due to them at the end of bounties. They often don't get paid. These scumbag managers know newbies are likely not going to open threads to drag their reputations or have the ability to get DTs to tag those fraudulent projects and their managers. They exploit them to no end. I hate to see this and have ceased visiting bounty threads for a long time now. The altcoin section, honestly, needs to be sanitizer.
2194  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies: Stay away and avoid all bounties! on: November 07, 2022, 12:50:08 PM
A good example, though not the best if you're looking for those extreme cases that are uncrowned bounty kings. What do you say to 5025 posts&1330 activity or 4209 post&1540 activity?
It's because of users like those above that I still believe some how that the merit system is the best feature theymos has successfully implemented on the forum. So, those users would've ranked up to legendary by default of post counts and activities if it weren't for merit where they haven't been able to earn a single one. More than four years on the forum and active yet they haven't earned just one merit. It's appalling. Perhaps they may be bots.
2195  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Friends and Family members want me to invest for them, help! on: November 06, 2022, 09:11:01 PM
~snipped~
As long as the parties involved, I.e, the helper and the helpee,  are willing to at least know or understand certain key areas involved
You're apt with that insight about money issues often resulting in scuffle among/between friends. I've tried as much as I can not to allow it come between me and anyone I call my friend. In the case I pointed out, I explained the possible scenario of one losing their money on crypto investment to the friend. He said he knew and still wanted to go ahead (possibly because he wanted something he could survive on). At that point, I decided to shoulder the loss if it ever came to that so he wouldn't have to lose a dime of his investment. That was why I chose to invest it on Bitcoin. As it stands now, he's in profit as per his investment in fiat value.
2196  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Friends and Family members want me to invest for them, help! on: November 06, 2022, 07:52:12 PM
Is my thoughts right? If you are in my shoes what will you do?
I can relate with your situation because I'm in it too. As a principle, I don't like holding investment for people when I'm not directly involved in it. Normally, what I do is help them establish a wallet and then buy and send them the crypto while they monitor its growth by themselves. However, that wasn't to be recently as a friend begged me to buy and hodl for him. It was a difficult moment of decision taking for me. The friend was in a deep financial struggle and was counting on my help. Initially, I wanted to jointly invest his capital on a launchpad token. That was like two months ago. I contemplated it for a while and then went for Bitcoin. That's the only one I'm sure will still be here no matter what. Launchpad token may dip tomorrow and never rise but Bitcoin will always rise even after a serious dip.
2197  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin as a secure investment amidst recession on: November 06, 2022, 06:14:12 PM
If we enter a recession then bitcoin will definitely fall more than the current price.
If there's anything I've come to notice about Bitcoin it's that it defies effects of global economics. We saw what happened during the lockdown in 2019, how the world literarily crumbled but Bitcoin rose and gave hope to its fans. I had a similar discussion a few days ago with a Bitcoin wannabe and I told him it was better keeping his cash in Bitcoin than leaving it in fiat in expectation of recession. Fiat is stable compared to Bitcoin. A dollar will remain a dollar but a Bitcoin will continue to vary in value against dollar. Most times, the value is of spiral dimension. The way things are looking right now, one can project that a global recession is imminent in 2023. Ironically, 2023 is the year we expect Bitcoin to soar and then record another ATH in 2024.
2198  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you like commission job or salary base job? on: November 06, 2022, 05:54:23 PM
To be frank, I don't like any of the two. I like being the CEO, the employer myself. My position stems from an in-depth scrutiny of the situation. I've worked both as an employee and employer and then realized as an employer of labour, no one pays their employee more than 10% of the total money the staff makes for the company. No matter whatever salary you get paid, thinking it's cool, it's invariably less than 10% of what you would've made for the company. However, if it boils down to choosing between commissioned and salaried job, every proactive employee should go for commissioned job. They efforts will earn them more independently.
2199  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The Unnecessary Pressure For Merits on: November 05, 2022, 02:56:00 PM
Nobody is pressuring anyone to earn merits.
In the real sense of it, only users pressure themselves to earn merit and it's because they want to rank up so they can get better reward with campaigns. What the forum pressures users on is how to make constructive posts devoid of spam. So, for the fact that it takes two to tango users have to be (seemingly) constructive to earn. I used "seemingly" and that's not loosely because I'm of the opinion that awarding merit on posts is subjective to whoever is sending it. It's not necessarily because those posts are constructive.
2200  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bad advice can still be gotten from forum. on: November 05, 2022, 02:34:54 PM
Yes, it's true that bad pieces of advice can be churned out by members here but I don't want to believe anyone would intentionally do that, except it were scam. The thing with advice is that the adviser tends to speak from what they think they know or that which will be best for the seeker, depending on the level and years of experience on the issue. Even advice from counsellors aren't alienated from this. For forum, anyone asking questions and genuinely seeking answers will have to read enough responses to be able to sieve through genuine answers or advice. They must've the patience to go through comments.

That's if it's not posted in Off-Topic sub-board. Otherwise I don't think it even gets deleted.
