1581  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic power on: April 03, 2023, 07:45:22 AM
Political power is good but political power can not survive without good economic power, political power is irrelevance if there is no good economy situations of any firm. It takes the economic power to build every other aspects of life.
Politicians will say it differently. This is because they know the political controls the economic. A man who pays the piper calls the tune. Politicians know all that. We've billionaires struggling to get into top political positions for the sole aim of controlling the affairs of government in policy making. Whatever political decision a president embarks on is binding on the economy.
1582  Economy / Economics / Re: Is some certain lifestyle a waste of money and time ? on: April 03, 2023, 07:31:02 AM
I always put my family first so this is also one of the reasons I don't join them that frequently.
I've tremendous respect for anyone who puts their family first above friendship. Friends will be there, but family is often thicker than friendship, let alone a friendship that's only strengthened on drinks. As a family man myself, I've had times in the past when I was faced with such a situation. I used to socialize a lot as a bachelor. Hangout on the weekends on booze. Then a few years in my marriage I figured out I needed to weed out certain influences of friends. I'm happier for it today. There's nothing much of benefit in hanging out for drinks on a regular. In fact, regular booze can damage one's organs to even think of it. The livers and kidneys aren't spared. Anyone having a nice home shouldn't compromise it for an exchange with beer friends. It's not worth it at all.
1583  Economy / Economics / Re: Money as a store of value... on: April 03, 2023, 06:10:46 AM
Money is a type of assets in an economy that you can use to buy goods and services from other people or businesses. One of the functions of money in an economy is that it's serves as a store of value.
This is why you shouldn't write on sensitive stuff like this from the top of your head without making your research. It's really absurd to classify money (fiat) as a store of value. It's obviously not. Anything that depreciates in the presence of inflation can't be quantified as such. We can say Gold is. Bitcoin is. But not fiat. For instance, a few years ago in my country N100 was $1 in 2008. Today, N745 exchanges for $1. Inflation has beaten the hell out of the local currency with virtually no corresponding value to show for the difference. N100 in 2008 had a better purchasing power than the current N745 of today. Every Nigerian know this.
1584  Economy / Economics / Re: Should you save, when you are wealthy? on: April 02, 2023, 05:09:52 PM
The thought that I will have to save for a long time now seems difficult, will it not tire me, will I be able to go this way.
Actually, people don't become wealthy from saving their money. They become wealthy through investments; and that's even when such investments become profitable. This is the simple reason billionaires always look for ways to reinvest whatever that's left of their earnings after setting aside what's for their daily running cost. The fact remains that only those without investment plans let their money lie idle without putting it to use. Savers who don't have any investments is meaningless.

I can't wait for these unpleasant red remarks on my post to disappear. I hope it goes out immediately we get to 2nd April. As you said, I am relaxing and expectant.
Now, you've it removed. Forum is back to status quo. Do you care for a shot of chilled 40-year-old bottled brandy? At least to celebrate what got most of us startled yesterday 🤪
1586  Other / Meta / Re: How to overcome this new captcha on: April 01, 2023, 02:23:14 PM
Imagine all the effort only for the challenge to disappear the next day 😂
Honestly! I think people should just relax and chill, enjoy the moment. There's no cause for alarm. All will be gone in less than 24hrs and forum resets to status quo.
1587  Other / Meta / Re: New CAPTCHA now required before posting on: April 01, 2023, 10:09:24 AM

Men I feel you and now in my second post of these days are getting worst which is in my first post I only need 3 coins to post but now this time I need to get 58 coins in flapppy bird it's sounds great and challenge for me.
The coin requirement fluctuates. My second post today required me collecting just 5 coins after the first asked for 52 coins. Now this one I'm making required 70 coins. Who knows, my next post today may require less than 20 coins. I think this is the hardest April Fool's prank theymos has pulled so far. I don't know if getting those coins is easier for those on PCs, unlike those of us on mobile phones.

Again, for those screaming this should be implemented in real life to curb spamming; don't be too sure that you will be able to make your regular posts, no matter how an excellent poster you think you're. This is a stringent measure.
1588  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk SuperNotifier V2 April Fool on: April 01, 2023, 06:58:06 AM
I was wowed of the "50 merits" when I was notified of the splash from Satoshi but what gave it out was the YouTube link 😂. Immediately I saw that link I knew something was wrong and needed to check my profile to confirm it. How it escaped my mind it was another April Fool prank, even though I thought of it until yesterday.
1589  Other / Meta / Re: New CAPTCHA now required before posting on: April 01, 2023, 06:35:04 AM

Damn! Theymos doesn't disappoint on every Fool Anniversary. Today's anniversary nearly got me as I had forgotten the usual theymos ritual until I started seeing almost everyone having the "suspected spammer" warning thing.

So, my captcha is to collect 52 coins to post 🙄 when I can't even jump two hurdles. Well, maybe next time OP should give us another video game as Captcha instead of Mario. Mario is a difficult kid to please.

1593  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Evidence that I actually invested for my baby on: March 28, 2023, 06:47:32 PM
I'm still curious as to why people cover their addresses. They don't understand that everything exists in the blockchain and is viewable.
It also amuses me too. Trust me, I'm sure those who do it don't even know why those they copied doing it do it. It's just a thoughtless copycat intent, for me. I've seen someone mask their public address while leaving the QR code open 😆.

As for you OP, you don't need to prove anything to anyone on where or what your investment is about. However, if you must, it should also be on the thread you announced your investment for your new born baby.
1594  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What your opinion? on: March 28, 2023, 04:44:22 PM
I really was having this question in mind to ask if it will advisable for somebody who want to start up trying doing online investment and chooses trade as perfect for him or her.
If I got your question well, you're asking if it's cool for anyone who's new to online stuff to go into investment and trading, right? Well, on my part, I don't see any issue with that; provided the person will know that there's a need to learn the basic skills for that first. Learn how to trade first before trading. That's the way I see it. The same thing applies to whatever investment they want to go into. No one should invest in anything just for the sake of investing.
1595  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Experience of failure and success can help us control the emotions. on: March 28, 2023, 02:56:02 PM
i think experienced had a very big role on decision making, is this a reason why most of the newbie loss is it because they don't have enough of experience?
Of a truth, it does. I got to understand why employers would always have "years of experience" included in job requirements as part of their criteria for picking new intakes. We may think it's high-handedness to do that but it's not. There's a part for experience in anything we do in life. Those with experience often go far ahead of their counterparts without experience.

On the part of failure and success, we learn from failure than we can do from successful. Failure gets us into adjusting our strategies and trading plan whereas success gets us excited and ego bloated. With it we conclude that we've accomplished and "arrived".
1596  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I still believe I am on the right path on: March 28, 2023, 01:43:08 PM
Even if I have bought some bitcoin a few days after the launch day, there is a 99% chances that I would have sold the Bitcoin, the enemies of holding Bitcoin for a newbie is
You're right but not many will accept that to be. Whenever I read about people who rue their lack of awareness when Bitcoin debuted and how they would've bought thousands of it and hedl, I just pout my lips. Nothing would've changed because they too would've sold long time ago too.

Market manipulators must have made me want to wet my pants, in the past years there are many FUD about Bitcoin, calling it another bubble, this could have made me give up.
The "bubble" FUD was a thing in pre-2018 and it did actually scare the shit out of me as a noob in 2017. I wonder how that format of FUD died off. Nobody fuds with that anymore. This is because the globe is more enlightened about Bitcoin now than it was a few years ago.

1597  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Has Taken Me To Perfection, Houses And Cars Have I Reached? on: March 28, 2023, 12:29:06 PM
OP, because you've obviously seen Bitcoin at $67,000 without being tempted to sell. Is it true? Four years is a good line for holding, but after the high price, it's been two years since Bitcoin can't pick up this price, can we say that you are in a good win?
I thought of that ATH (around $69k, actually) in 2021 too and if they didn't sell then, why they didn't but decided to sell now that's far below half of its current ATH. Then I thought perhaps OP also trades Futures or has been on DCA. Whatever approach OP used, it's a welcome development. That's the hope of everyone here, to achieve something tangible from our Bitcoin investments. Kudos, OP.
1598  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do you describe bitcoin to a newbie? on: March 28, 2023, 10:43:30 AM
~snipped~
Well, instead of using the term legal tender, it would be most appropriate if you just call it a currency; Bitcoin is a legal tender in only two countries all over the world, and that's in El salvador and Central African Republic...
Well, for the fact that you even admitted that there are countries where you deemed it fit that Bitcoin could be referred to as a legal tender, it means anyone using that same term across board shouldn't be out of place. In as much as I didn't say it was globally accepted as a legal tender, I don't think it should be a malapropism. However, I get your drift.
1599  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Possible things that gives beginners problems on: March 28, 2023, 08:43:31 AM
                              Spamming

Spamming, this is basically known that people who commit this crime is people who is making several posts daily in one thread to accumulate their posts within a day or two days to make out twenty to forty posts within the range of one or two days.
What you've described there can better fit under burst posting, not necessarily spamming. Those who post much within a day or two just to meet up with the weekly quota are guilty of this. For spamming, I like to explain it as posting substandard comments which are out of point or irrelevant to the discussions at hand. A post that doesn't address what the thread is on or responds with relevant idea is a spam post.

Beyond all that you listed OP, I think the negligence of reading through threads and sticked posts is the bane of most beginners. They're often in a haste to start posting straight away because target is often to increase post count and activities but not realizing that it's good to put things in the right order first. That's reading before posting.
1600  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I Never belittle my SATs because a drop of water makes an ocean on: March 27, 2023, 06:14:24 PM
There is that popular provers which say, A drop of water can make an ocean. yes I believe is true because I gradually accumulated some SATs and now have move from being Satoshi owner to Bitcoin holder.
OP, you talked about patiently accumulating sats instead of waiting to buy a whole Bitcoin. It's a given that most users here may not even have owned a whole Bitcoin. Besides, the positive thing is to hodl and keep hodling as that shows support for Bitcoin. It shouldn't matter if it's not up to 1 BTC.

Yeah, the appropriate situation based on your story is when Bitcoin price is still cheap and faucet site can give you 1000-5000 Satoshis for every minute, if you claim it for everyday you can make a good living if you hold it until now.
I believe you're referring to the pre-2017 era. I read it was a glorious era for faucet claimers. I tried my hand on faucets too around 2017/2018 but my experience was far from encouraging. I don't know how many people still indulge it now as it seems to be a waste of time.
