'If am not thankful for thought then am guilty of greed'
That's the attitude of great minds. To say thank you may look minute but it's a great virtue. I'm a man given to gratitude myself and so I understand when people genuinely appreciate others. I congratulate your efforts at pulling yourself up. You're the real MVP in this case. Now, lace up your boots for more work awaits you to rank up to the top echelon here. Enjoy, bro.

2204  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The Unnecessary Pressure For Merits on: November 01, 2022, 10:36:12 PM
The forum, is just like every other online forum or group
Nope, it's certainly not like every other online forum. It has an edge on others. BTT is about the only forum where people read other's comments to learn and broaden their knowledge on cryptocurrency and then post (when they get to certain ranks) to earn money legitimately. No other fora (none that I know of anyway) pays you for comments you make on social media.

No one is putting anyone on pressure to earn merits but the members themselves, especially if earning merits puts them in a better position for signature campaigns. Otherwise, it's advisable for members to just take their time and make posts that will aid others; not minding whether such posts get merited or not.
2205  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bull or bear November? on: November 01, 2022, 07:39:34 PM
I'm optimistic that Bitcoin will rally north ward for the month of November. I shared this perspective in a different thread here a few minutes ago. We might not have seen enough strength upward to suggest that it could break the $21,000 barrier yet as a few users have pointed out. However, Bitcoin has a way of causing instantaneous spikes to change the tides. I believe that can happen this first week in this month. For anyone trading it, I will advise they look for buy entries more and jettison the idea of shorting it even if the set-up looks enticing.
2206  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Sentiment Poll for November on: November 01, 2022, 07:22:35 PM
It’s all up to the fed. It all boils down to FOMC tomorrow.
My speculation for Bitcoin in November for the past few months was bullish and I still remain bullish on it. November (many have dubbed it Movember) has often been a favourable month for Bitcoin from past studies and I don't see this year's November being an exception. The FOMC tomorrow will, somehow, find away to make that speculation realizable by moving it north bound whichever way we want to look at it.
2207  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: No Alternative to Bitcoin, Your Alternative is Bitcoin. on: November 01, 2022, 02:21:07 PM
In real life, there's always an alternative to whatever there's. This is why there're always two sides to a coin or when people say everything that has an advantage must also have a disadvantage. Sorry to burst your bubbles OP, there're alternatives to Bitcoin. I ain't even referring to fiat alone here but other cryptos. These other items equip us to be able to peg the value of Bitcoin to something. Without these alternatives Bitcoin wouldn't be with a value. We've to factor in that while hyping Bitcoin.
2208  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Let me join the Bitcoin Forum on: November 01, 2022, 01:52:42 PM
What is your reason behind Bitcoin's survival to this day and how do you thank Bitcoin.
For me, Bitcoin's greatest asset is its community. It has got a very strong and committed fan base.

Yeah, I was particular about the hoDl dude – GameKyuubi. So, I checked his profile and surprisingly discovered that dude was still active here until June. I was surprised because almost all the icons from Bitcoin's early days have long stopped being active here. We need some of them to bring forth the memories of what it used to be with Bitcoin in the past.
2209  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: bull started? on: November 01, 2022, 01:05:47 PM
It could be that the bull has started as we're already in November, the month I believe favours Bitcoin. I won't be expecting anything contrary to a bullish movement from Bitcoin this month. As it's now, price is resting on weekly support around $19,500 and I sincerely hope it doesn't break it so we can see it reaching for the $24k region where there's a strong resistance. If anyone must short Bitcoin now, they should be very careful doing that. Otherwise, it's better to wait and aim for long.
2210  Economy / Economics / Re: Why exactly did Elon want to buy Twitter? on: November 01, 2022, 11:34:44 AM
Twitter probably brings nice money from advertising. And it can be "improved" to bring more.
Twitter has a huge number of users. I would not be surprised if Elon has in mind businesses targeting vast number of users and this will give a good potential user base.
This is the angle most people aren't looking at from. For me, this is a very vital part of the deal. As a shrewd businessman, many people aren't seeing what he saw while making that deal. I believe he's looking at the advert potential of Twitter which surpasses every other social media site. Buying Twitter for Elon will be like paying heavy sign-on fee on a player with clout but outsiders scream that it's a waste of financial resources until tickets, jerseys and stickers sale shoot up just because that single player joined that club. It's the same thing I see in all this Elon stuff with Twitter. Elon Musk will recoup his invested cash in no distant time.

On the political angle, I think it's about time Twitter's strangulation on free speech/posts was cut loose.
2211  Economy / Economics / Re: Corruption Should Be Taught From Young Age on: November 01, 2022, 10:47:24 AM
In my opinion, only two things can be taught to combat corruption and these are: (1). Contentment and (2). Repercussions. In most countries where corruption festers much, go check their behavioural pattern and you will discover that those two are completely messed up. In such countries, citizens aren't contented with whatever they've acquired. Those who've want to flout it at those they think they're better off than. There's constant display of obscene wealth on social media from these ones. More so, those who are caught in corruption are let loose with little or no repercussions to the crime committed. All that will weaken the morale of those who want to remain pious. This is what happens in most Africa countries with weak institutions that ought to be the standard bearers in addressing corruption. The institutions are gone, completely.
2212  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why does everyone want to trade? on: November 01, 2022, 09:16:24 AM
I think OP should rephrase that question and succinctly ask – Why does everyone want to make or earn money? The answer will be an obvious one. Of course, everyone wants a better life of comfort which money can afford. People believe engaging in trading can give them all that. Sadly, it's just an infinitesimal number of traders that can truly say they're living that life from profits made in trading.

My advice to anyone going into trading is; they should go for information reads lots of material and practice with little amount, possibly what they can afford to lose than going to take a loan from any financial institution.
Well, there's nothing wrong in arming oneself with the theoretical of trading. However, to tell you the truth trading is more of practical reality and emotional control than reading books. BTW, you sound like you trade Binary. Do you also trade FX?
2213  Economy / Economics / Re: Can One Get Rich or At least Not go Broke During a Recession? on: November 01, 2022, 07:04:53 AM
I have been recently laid-off work due to the recent economic crisis in my country.
This is really a trying time for most of our compatriots at a time like this with inflation hitting higher than before with past administrations. Sometimes I wonder how those without a job even cope when those with a job barely survive on salary. This is why as a matter of emergency no one should stick to one source of income. I hope you get back on your feet soonest.

Talking about staying afloat during recession, one should get into business and into essential products. Products and services that people won't be able to do without. If you like trading, this is the right time to perfect your strategy. Spend more time at your game. This is why I'm trying my hand on Futures. It's an exciting exercise, provided you don't over leverage your capital.

but I've gotten over it now and lesson is learnt - Indeed, people perish because they lack knowledge.
Good to know you've shaken off the hurt and moved on. Such is life. You win some, you lose some.

And now I want to change it, but Theymos is turning his hairy ear to my pleas for lenience.  Maybe if my name was (The)(cool)Cryptovator he might let me.  I'm not bitter.  I'm really not.
my guess is that Theymos finds the  username really interesting and that is why he would not give in to your request to change it
I think you do have a valid point in there on theymos' nonchalance towards TP's request for a name change. Again, coupled with the fact that a name change will completely take away anything that resembles the old name from it. If we look at the user in quote – (The)(cool)Cryptovator – we would discover that the said user's name change revolved around their old name, capitalization got changed to lowercase or the definite article "the" got dropped. How do we relate with "The Sceptical Chymist" being The Pharmacist 🤔
2215  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Stupid or Not on: October 31, 2022, 09:17:46 AM
For the sake of sensibilities, I wouldn't say it's a stupid idea but I know it's not a wise one either. The best would be for your friend to generate new wallet addresses whenever they feel the current address has been overused instead of discarding the wallet totally and setting up new ones. Doing that will mean your friend has to start all over again and get seedphrases saved up. It's an attempt in futility. It can even expose one to hacks.
2216  Other / Meta / Re: I'm curious About this on: October 31, 2022, 08:51:01 AM
but I'm struck in thoughts and imagination about higher rank members of the forum who haven't been active for the past 4 to 6 years. And I'm wondering what's really the issues.
Life happens. Sometimes, death can cause a user to be inactive. In fact, that's the most scary part of my thought whenever I notice a user has been inactive that long. Otherwise, I don't think anyone who was here before Bitcoin became popular would want to go cold now that it's gathering momentum. There are users who have ceased posting here but they're still active reading comments here. For those who have stopped posting and reading here, there's certainly something wrong.

• Assuming their Accounts were banned from the platform, is it possible for developers to drain their merit bags and redistribute it to active users.
There wouldn't be any need for that since merit doesn't have any monetary load on it. Theymos can send as many of it as he wants to merit sources to distribute and redistribute. No big deal.

• Apart from Satoshi, Are there any importantance of keeping dead and inactive accounts of over 4 to 6 years.
There was argument against that in the past. Now, sense of reason prevails that doing such would be erasing important posts and insights those users might've shared here. Knowledge would've been lost.
2217  Other / Meta / Re: The Reason why you chose your username on: October 31, 2022, 07:58:43 AM
Keeping that stage name became impossible for me since if i ever manage to become popular with my music, people will think i got the idea of the name from the music company and the music company might even sue me for maybe copyright infringement.
That's an ouch moment there! How the tables turned and the story of how the hunter became the hunted. It's really sad when things we ought to have done right turn to hurt us in future. A simple registration with CAC (Corporate Affairs Commission) would've secured the name for you and even placed you in a better position of bargain that would've fetched you millions if you decided to give up your username for that new company. Anyway, I hope you learnt your lesson on how to secure patent for any stuff you need to keep, going forward.

1. You chose it after your profession.
Ding ding ding!  As I was wracking my pea brain, trying to come up with a username I decided on either "A Pharmacist" or "The Pharmacist", and it was a close race.
Lemme go'an have a drink to celebrate this accurate guess of mine! It's worth celebrating 🏃‍♂️

Anyway, blah blah blah.  I picked my name because....just take a guess.
Make it two guesses and I will have a gander –
                 1. You chose it after your profession.
                 2. You picked it, unrelated to what
you're but, as one who could make
                      prescriptions for the malady that
was in the forum of shitposts and
                      scams when you joined.

You do really want to change it? I think The Pharmacist sounds better than Chymist, frankly.
2219  Other / Meta / Re: What is wrong with this? Can it be considered a signature? on: October 29, 2022, 04:21:45 PM
So, my solution to such issues is to include the links in my posts (only relevant posts) rather than placing them in the signature box/section and having them appearing in all my posts.  Do you see anything wrong in this? If yes, what exactly?
Yes, I see everything wrong with your suggestion. Let me ask simply, so what happens to the posts you make wearing certain signature when you change to another signature? Let's say, for instance, you get to promote a gambling project and you make all your posts only in gambling sections just to keep inline with the signature name and ideology, what happens when you move into a campaign that's anti-gambling? What then happens to all your gambling posts wearing a "pius" signature? Remember that what is displayed on users' profiles is the current signature they're signed on. So, by calculation what everyone sees is the current signature even on posts made years ago. Your suggestion won't work. It's going to be chaotic implementing it.
2220  Other / Meta / Re: The Reason why you chose your username on: October 29, 2022, 03:53:02 PM
Thus, I came up with Ultegra134. The numbers don't represent anything but were mostly used when my desired username was taken.
I've always associated numbers on usernames to believe those numbers mean something special to the users. Sometimes I believe it could be the user's date of birth, wedding date, date they got something uplifting, etc. Yours is an exception from what I've seen as you said the numbers on your moniker were randomly chosen and didn't represent anything to you. Look at what I meant below 👇

The second part of my username, 91, refers to the year 1991, which has a special meaning in my life, and no, it is not the year of my birth, as many think.
It was a year that was a big turning point in my life.
