2241  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: January 28, 2023, 08:37:23 AM
There's always been talks and intrigue about these 2 teams since the Mavs made an upset and knocked the Suns out in the playoffs in 2021. It seems like some Phoenix fans and maybe even Booker himself hasn't moved on yet.

That's why when these two teams meet again early in the season and the Suns won it after a big comeback, the celebration is like they truly got revenge on the Mavericks lol. They should really be bitter in their last year's playoffs exit as just imagined having the best record in the NBA and up by 2 wins in the playoffs against the Mavericks but still choking and losing it. And the worst, they allow the Mavericks to give them as much as 46 points behind, a literal choke.

I hope though that they will meet again in this year's playoffs to continue their rivalry, with no injuries and in a healthy lineup.
But this lost though, I mean no Luka but still the Dallas were able to escape and get that needed win against their rival. So this could be another huge lost for them mentally and it's worst for them.
I wonder what Luka is saying at the back when he saw that his team won against the Suns without him.

Well, the Suns don't have Booker as well. Since he got injured, the Suns played not that good. Well, they got a 4 game winning streak before that lost and that shows a sign of adjustments, but still, many are expecting that the Suns will be the same team as they are 2 years ago when they are at the top of the standings. Now they are 25-25 and currently 9th in the league. Nowhere near the expectation of their fans and other people who have high expectations to them.

Will they enter the playoffs? Yes for sure. The question now is, where they will land. The worst thing that can happen to them is if they will end up at the play-in tournament.

so in my opinion, don't invest from borrowed money because there will be potential losses, what do you think, do you agree with me?
No and I have a different approach with regards to that one.

Having a loan and using that loan to buy cryptocurrency can still be a viable choice, but it depends on one thing. Time.
When did you buy cryptocurrency? If you borrowed money at the 2nd half of 2022 and invested all of it into Bitcoin, you're into profit right now. You can sell your Bitcoins right now, pay the loan that you get and then go home with the profits that you have. On the other hand, if you borrowed money during a bull market, your chances of getting profit from it will be low and you might put yourself in a difficult situation.

While most of people here don't like that strategy, I like to do it whenever we are in a bear market. You can buy crypto at a cheaper price and in the long run, it will give you profit. Well, of course I don't suggest doing this strategy if you don't have any job that will help you pay that loan. You need to have a monthly income still and you are willing to put a portion of that to pay your debt.

I tried it already last year. I got a loan here, I bought Bitcoin using that money and I'm paying that loan on a monthly basis. What's the result? I'm in a profit now because Bitcoin's price went up already. Overall, it will depend on when did you borrow the money.
2244  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: January 28, 2023, 07:03:17 AM
Wow. Another lost. Not a funny loss but I am laughing, I might be crazy.  Cheesy

Had the right prediction on who will win but the spread was not covered. Lacking 1 more point for both the Miami Heat and the Milwaukee Bucks.
The sad part about the Miami bet is I think that the lowest spread @1.57 only and the next is ML which is not that rewarding for a win.
My Bucks bet though, it's my fault for being greedy. That -10.5 if I remember it right is the max on spreads option.
That happening in one game is still ok, but making it happen twice? I just hope that you're ok Wink JK

I've also experienced that one many times already, but not the same as you. It happened to me twice in 2 consecutive days. I also felt regret at that time because I felt that I'm too greedy enough. Anyway, you will move on from that after a few hours to days.

Grizzlies are now on a 5-game losing streak after winning 11 games. I just hope that the "dynasty" are still ok. They lost double digits to a team who had the worst trade in NBA history (at least for me).

~
and I admit that Fred VanFleet is really great at shooting passing stealing you name it and he transitions his game even more, right now he is the elite shooting three's for the Raptors and I think that he would transition well in every team that he make a trade
Whatever team will get Vanvleet if he opt out after this season and choose to be a unrestricted free agent by summer will be a huge boost for the whole team. I mean I agree with what you said. From an undrafted player (highest paid undrafted player), to now one of the top scorers of the Raptors and also top 10 in steals this season. There are some rumors saying that Vanvleet might opt out and will be a UFA after this season.

In addition to that, splash brothers doing splash brothers thing on this game. Curry and Thompson combined for 64 points on 10/22 3pt shooting. Poole only scored 9 points on this one, but 6 players in double digits are enough for the team to get the victory at home.
2245  Economy / Economics / Re: How can we end the *VOLATILITY OF BITCOIN* on: January 28, 2023, 06:04:43 AM
Is something wrong about the volatility of not only Bitcoin but crypto in general?
I mean if volatility is very bad for you then it's very good for others especially traders.

Volatility = profit. The more volatile it is, the more money you can generate with it and vice versa. Why are people asking questions like this? This is why cryptocurrency is a very exciting investment. It's volatility makes people rich, but on the other hand, it also makes people poor. To answer your question, I don't see any way of us ending the volatility of Bitcoin and other cryptos because we just can't. Even the stock market is volatile but lesser than crypto and even so, no one is talking about it.
2246  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It is ok to sell your Bitcoin. on: January 28, 2023, 02:23:37 AM
So my question is:
~ Do people hodl just because others are HODLing?
Possible.

I mean we have different reasons why we are holding a particular coin in the first place. There are some who are hodling coins because they believe that it will go up increase 3-5 years from now. There are some who choose to hold because they just wanted to. There are some like me that are hodling coins because they believe they will rise in price in the future and at the same time, hodling it because they are staking it.

~ Why do people hodl rather than sell and buy again when low
Because we don't know when and when.

People tend to have this mindset where if Bitcoin hits a high price, they will think like "it will go higher even more" thus, they force to hodl even more instead of selling it. On the other hand, there are some people who have this mindset of "it will go down even lower and I'll wait for it to happen" and the ending? They didn't buy any Bitcoins because by the time they're waiting for the "low" to be reached, it pumped already.

I guess it's my mistake on my part that I didn't sell my Bitcoin holdings when it was at it's peak and just bought last year. At least now I learned from my mistakes and I've adjusted my strategy on it.

~ What is your major reason for HODLing and how do your survive the bear market?
Hoping that it's price will rise 3-5 years from now. That's the reason why I'm hodling and when I'm hodling, I'm only hodling those top market cap coins that I believe will have a huge development in the future.

How did I survive the bear market? Doing nothing is the best thing to do. It's a simple strategy, but it's hard to do especially for those people who are panicking because they see Bitcoin's price going down
2247  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Power Slap League on: January 28, 2023, 01:50:04 AM
The first time I watched this kind of "sports" was in Russia where they are just slapping each other until the other one passes out.
When I saw it for the first time, I was like "Is this even a sport? For real? They are just slapping back and forth and you call this a sport?"

A few months after, it became more and more popular that other countries trying to do it as well. I just don't know why it became popular at all where in fact, they are just slapping each other.

Well, Dana White wants another business and he wanna try this Power Slap League. Didn't heard that league until today, but I'll try to watch some videos on Youtube about it. I'm also thinking more on the health of the competitors than the excitement that I can get while watching the match. I mean it's near the brain and once a player wrongfully hit the brain part, it might affect it causing many sickness.

Overall, I don't call it a sport (at least for me). No strategy like others are saying, just swing here and there. Just using raw power to knock your opponents down and that's it.
2248  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: January 28, 2023, 01:08:55 AM
Beterbiev is 38 years old, and Yarde is 31 years old. Big difference in the age gap but Yarde said he is faster and younger and although Beterbiev is undefeated he will take advantage of this opportunity given to him. 3 titles in one match, this will be a big one if he wins this match. A big "if".
Power > Speed (at least for me)

Speed doesn't matter for me if you can get knocked out in one power punch by your opponent. Beterbiev isn't throwing that much punches, but each of his punches is very strong that it can knock you out. That's why all of Beterbiev's wins are all coming from Knockout.

On the other hand, let's still not forget that anything can happen in basketball as well as in boxing. We've seen some upsets in the past years and this fight might be as well, but the chances of it to happen? Close to zero and even though the odds are kind of low, I might put a bet on Beterbiev on this one Smiley.
2249  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: January 28, 2023, 01:02:07 AM
Great timing @Yamifoud. Mikey Williams took control and Pogoy has done some damage as well. The 1st half of the ROS are impressive, but on the 2nd half, they relied so much on their import and that resulted in their import getting tired, he has also missed important free throws so TNT are just fouling him since he is unstoppable when he drives the ball inside.

Great work by Mikey Williams. But did you guys hear the rumor that Mikey Williams is once again doing some diva attitude?

I don't know the exact details but it seems that TNT's issue with Williams won't end. At every conference, there's always news about Wiliams's sudden change of personality and behavior.

With Jolas Lastimosa as their coach and one of the people who criticized Williams before during its last shown of being a diva, expect that there will be a personal issue between these two.
He's the "Kyrie Irving" of PH doesn't he? Cheesy
An all-star player, but full of issues. Williams' sudden change of behavior started just after he won his first title in his first season in the bubble.

I just heard some news about this, but I ignored it completely maybe because I've had enough of it. He's been in the league for a few seasons and yet he's acting like that. I mean he's a great player, but to have many issues isn't good for either the player or the team.

Nevertheless, I thought that the ROS will get the victory yesterday, but the TNT made a comeback and stealing the victory. Like I said, one game isn't enough for the ROS import to be judged. He exploded for 35 points and 17 rebounds though they lost, but that's a huge jump of performance compare to his first game.

  • Needed the money and don't want to lose big
Just a few days ago, I just pulled out all of my asset in a particular project, sold it and then invested it into stock market.

Did I feel regret on it? Yes because just a few hours after I sold that asset, the price went up 20% more. I felt disappointed and asking myself "What if I waited a few more hours before selling it? Then I can get 20% more than what I got when I sold it." Some questions are on my mind at that time. I felt regret, but what I'm only thinking at that time is that "I regretted it, but there's nothing that I can do about it and after all, I can't predict the future and I didn't know that the price of that asset will go up even more." Currently, I'm ok now and I don't feel regret anymore and that 20% more profit? I will just get it thru dividends on the stock that I've bought.

Overall, we've all experienced that scenario especially when the time has come for us to sell our assets for whatever reason it is. My advice for those who want to sell is that, if you want to sell your asset, don't look at the crypto market for around 3 days to 1 week.
2251  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: January 27, 2023, 12:40:34 PM
0 point
7 assists
1 rebound
19 minutes played

That was Ben Simmon's stats against the Pistons hehe. It just doesn't make sense for a big PG not to make more shot attempts on a league that mostly favors offense now. It was less than 10 tries per game in their last four or five outings. This guy would be very lucky to have a contract extension that's close to his current salary if he keeps playing like this.
Tony Snell's stats in one game is far better than this one.
0 points, 0 rebounds, 0 assists, 0 steals, 0 blocks in around 25+ minutes of playing. He's like having a cardio on that game.

Kidding aside, Simmons' stats right now is kinda questionable, but he doesn't have a stats like this all the time. Though we already know that he wasn't the Simmons that he was when he is on the Sixers, but the good thing is that he is playing already and trying to redeem himself. It's frustrating if you are a Nets fan, but one game isn't enough for us to judge how he is playing. His stats wouldn't matter if they won the game, but unfortunately they lost and worse is that they lost to a bottom seeded team in Pistons. Cheesy

The 76ers won that trade as they are now a very good team, they are well balanced with offense and defense.

Simmons does not attempt to shot more, probably he had some phobia with his bad experience messing up in big game in the playoffs.
Well, base on how Harden and Simmons are playing right now with their respective teams, I think it's pretty obvious that the Sixers won that trade.

~
What do you think about this claim? Is he right or wrong?

Online gambling isn't that popular until the pandemic happened.
Gamblers can't go to casinos because of lockdowns. They don't want to be idle and they always want to gamble thus, they tried to gamble online and that's the start of popularity of online gambling.

Your close relative is right. Accessibility of online casinos right now is way easier thus, gamblers can gamble straight from their smart phone. Just a few clicks, place a bet and there you go. For gamblers, that would be way easier than driving minutes or even hours to go to a nearby casino just to gamble. Because of online gambling easier to get accessed, gamblers tend to get addicted way faster than when they are going to a casino as they have more time to spend when they are gambling online and when they spend more time, the chances of them getting addicted will be higher. On the other hand, physical casinos can also be addictive as well especially if you are going there more often.

We don't have any nearby casinos in our place and whenever I want to gamble, I always gamble online. Luckily for me, I didn't get addicted into online gambling because I can control myself and I have enough discipline to not to overspend on it as well.

Re: why people are always interested in altcoins
Profit.

Altcoins especially the low market cap ones tend to move faster than those altcoins at the top as they are easier to be pumped and dumped by the whales. People don't want to be bored and investing in Bitcoin might be boring for some as it moves slower than altcoin thus, they preferring to invest into altcoins than Bitcoin as their price move faster. Higher risk = higher rewards.

We've seen many altcoins that just went up and now at the top out of nowhere. Coins like Polkadot, ICP, Solana etc. Altcoins are way riskier than Bitcoin, but can give you higher profits than Bitcoin and that's the reason why people are always interested in investing into altcoins. Profitability.
2254  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: January 27, 2023, 06:16:14 AM
Ouch, some of us had Boston on the handicap, unfortunately they lost the game. They forced the OT against the Knicks but New York stay focus even if Boston took the lead in the OT.

Detroit Piston as well pull an upset win against the Nets, Kyrie had another big game with 40 points, Ben Simmons though, 0 points in this game.
It was Nic again who help Kyrie was not enough, while Pistons has like 8 players scoring double digits. So it's 0/2 for me tonight.

That Pistons win really destroyed my parlay for the night. I didn’t think they’d be able to take the Nets even without Durant. I was wrong.

Looks like the Mavericks are about to beat the Suns. Luka only played a couple of minutes before leaving the game. I hope his ankle isn’t bothering him too bad. The all star break is coming soon though and I think all NBA players could use the break. Their schedule is brutal.
I was a bit surprised when I saw that the Knicks won against the Celtics, but I'm more surprised when I saw the Pistons defeated the Nets. I mean who would've thought that the road team Pistons which are at the bottom spot defeated the 4th seeded team in Nets. I'm pretty sure there are some who lost money in these 2 games.

Hoping for a speedy recovery for Luka's ankle as he is also a starter in the upcoming all-star game. As for the Pistons, I just don't know what happened to them, but to see Simmons having 0 points in that game is very frustrating if you are a Nets fan. Simmons also got a -12 plus-minus rating. Seth Curry didn't play as well, but it's good to see Claxton being more efficient than he was last season. A double-double machine scoring more than 20 points in his last 5 games and getting more than 10 rebound in 4 of his last 5 games and he's only 23 years old.

No offense, but the sticker tagline is giving me scammy vibes, and that's definitely not the vibe you want people to be getting. I prefer stickers with a more interesting message such as "defund the state"(on the top of my head) and such.
I thought I'm the only one who got that vibes as well the time I read what's on that sticker or whatever the OP is sharing to others.

I mean I don't have anything in my mind that can help other people learn everything about Bitcoin, but I guess the OP is sharing might lead those newbies to scammy websites than legit ones.

If you have extra funds, maybe making a tarpaulin on an area where there's many people passing by or maybe a billboard if you have more extra funds Smiley. I'm not saying that what you are doing isn't helpful, but in that way, it will make your work less easier and at the same time, you can still share the information with other people. Nevertheless, 10 for the initiative of advertising Bitcoin in your own way.
2256  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: January 27, 2023, 02:50:17 AM
Alright, it was reported that NorthPort already offered a max contract extension on Robert Bollick. Northport already made a first move but Bolick's side is still silent and has no response on that deal. If NorthPorth was a legit farm team on SMB, why is a contract extension still offered to Bollick?

Just a drama? Just for show? Just for entertainment? I doubt.

NorthPort in fairness likes to keep Bolick and won't just follow what others think of them as a farm team.
Money or title?
Well, he can get both when he goes to SMB so maybe just get the money and then a few years from now, SMB will get him and will have a higher chance to get a title.

Why a contract extension? I believe that the SMB can still get something out of Ross, Lassiter and Romeo and maybe Enciso as well, so they just let NorthPort offer Bollick a max contract extension but in the end, they will just get him in exchange for some players (if Bollick will accept the offer). I believe this is all drama and sh*t. If you are a PBA fan for years and you've been watching these trades, you can already see that SMB's farming team are NorthPort and TerraFirma.

If I'm Bollick, I might try my luck overseas and play in the B-league. I mean B-league already gave sign to him that they will get him if he will play there. More money, more experience, more challenging.
2257  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Stephen Fulton vs. Naoya Inoue - WBC and WBO 122 lbs bout - May on: January 27, 2023, 02:22:02 AM
Yes, I posted this fight here.

Can't believe Inoue's promoter, Top Rank CEO Bob Arum allow one of his favorite cash cows to go directly facing one of the Super Bantamweight Champions after moving up and won't do some test first facing other boxers here at a lower rank. Maybe they consider Fulton as not really a threat to Inoue so no more testing the environment but facing directly the champion.

Because Bob Arum believed that Inoue can beat Fulton in the super bantamweight. Not saying that Fulton is a weak champion, but Arum knows that Inoue has the advantage in this fight. Fulton has been saying that he wants to move up to 126 lbs, perhaps he has issues with his weight already. If that is the case then he might have a problem with against Inoue.
I watched the video highlights that you shared and just by looking at that fight, I think I will agree with what you said that Inoue has the capability to defeat Fulton.

A 21-0-0 with 8 KO's for Stephen Fulton and 24-0-0 with 21 KO's for Inoue. That knockout rate is something that we need to look out for. Most of Fulton's wins are coming from decisions while Inoue's coming from Knockout. Like you, I don't also look Fulton as a weak champion, but I believe Inoue can defeat this champ.

Is this bout already inked? Because I'm not seeing any news that both camps have already reached a deal and decide to make the fight happen in Saitama, Japan where their profits will be maximized and both camps will surely benefit from it. If so, I will be surprised that Al Haymon didn't even try to react as that's what I am expecting from him right from the start because Fulton is with PBC.
Did a quick research and I guess it's happening on the 7th of June at 5 AM ET and 2 AM PT at Saitama Super Areana in Saitama, Japan.
2258  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: January 27, 2023, 01:52:18 AM
I wonder why nobody is talking here about the Grizzlies-Warriors match-up where Poole put the game winning shot.

He is the reason why Curry got ejected because of his early shot with more than 10 seconds remaining, but on the other hand, he is also the reason why the Grizzlies are now on a 4 game losing streak. Dynasty?? Cheesy Dynasty in their dreams.

Stephen Curry had great support from Thompson and Poole. I thought the Warriors might actually lose when Stephen Curry was ruled out of this game after throwing his mouth guard which counted as a technical foul. This obviously happened because Poole did not pass him the ball when he was absolutely free. But in the end, Poole did the thing of beauty in the end which resulted in a win for the Golden State Warriors. I'm not going to lie. That was absolutely amazing what he did in the last moment of the game.
He did it out of frustration and who will not get frustrated with that play. They are at the crucial minutes of the game, your team got an offensive rebound, the shot clock is more than 10 seconds left and then you will just the ball out of nowhere? I mean that's a poor decision making coming from Poole, and clearly he is still unexperienced when it comes to times like that. Fortunately, he is the reason why they won and at the dugout, Curry waited for Poole there and Poole threw his mouthpiece as well and hugged each other after that. Player and mentor relationship Smiley.

The list of the starters of each conference in NBA All-star game has been picked already.
For the Western Conference, they got:
  • Lebron James - their captain
  • Nikola Jokic
  • Zion Williamson
  • Stephen Curry
  • Luka Doncic
For the Eastern Conference, they got:
  • Giannis Antetokounmpo - their captain
  • Jayson Tatum
  • Kevin Durant
  • Donovan Mitchell
  • Kyrie Irving

Lebron has been in the all star for the 19th straight time, tying Kareem's number of all-star appearances. Now some might say that why they picked Tatum over Embiid and my opinion with that is, Tatum is playing better than Embiid this season and it's a numbers game. We also saw Donovan Mitchelll as a starter and it's his first time as a starter. I hope Durant can play in the all-star. Any snubs that you can think on?

Anyway, may bagong event na naman which is ung Legendary Magic Stone.

Cheesy

There are some people like six of them who are troublesome to me, they don't want to learn but they like the success stories surrounding crypto investment, not sure about the risk side, the funny thing is they want me to help them invest and choose coins for them, to me this is like breaking the rules of crypto investment, meaning they have no knowledge about what they are investing money on.

Even if they invest what they are ready to lose it still makes no sense, no one can run crypto investment for you while you know nothing about the tech, I told them this but they believe I intentionally do not want help them.  In this case they are the only ones that can help themselves.

If you are in same position like me, no matter how much you like someone or want the best for them do not help them to invest in crypto, they are lazy asses who can't get anything done on their own, and this type of game I don't play it because, in the end, you will become their enemy.  It's already happening and I just ignored them. Is anyone seeing the same thing in their city or country?
I guess I'm a bit fortunate that I don't have friends who are acting like that. I only have a few circle of friends and most of them don't know anything about crypto and I don't want them to teach unless they will approach me. Most of my friends know crypto, but they don't want to invest into it for some reasons and I don't want them to push to invest.

Nevertheless, I already know what to do if that kind of scenario happen to me. If a person is lazy and don't want to learn about crypto, teach them the simplest thing to do and that is to just buy Bitcoin and hold it, but don't teach them how to sell it. If they really wanted to invest into crypto, they will find a way to learn how to sell it. Maybe try to teach them something in the most simplest way, but don't teach them how to sell it. It might work especially if they know that they invested their own money into it.
