2361  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Monero Support on: March 21, 2016, 06:50:34 AM
Running .9.2 on windows 64, 100% synced, status says:

...v1, up to date, 8+0 connections

can someone give me explicit instructions to get connected?

thanks
Grin

I'll do a little googling, see if I can figure it out from there.

thanks Smooth

UPDATE:
On the side of my ISP provided router, is a nice little label with a GUI access address, user name, and password.  From there, flying by the seat of my pants, I created some rules that now allow a gratifying number of incoming connections  Grin

What do you mean "get connected" ?

From the above it looks like you are connected, although incoming connections might be blocked by a firewall. That's not critical to fix unless you are comfortable messing with firewall settings.

it was mentioned that with incoming connections blocked I'm not doing the network any good.  Not that it's a hashing monster,  but every little bit adds up, so if I can, I'd like to do my (little)bit.  Sooner or later I will have a much more substantial hash rate to contribute, but might as well have it figured out before then if I can.  Baby steps.  I'm learning.

If we squeak past 0.0041 things could get interesting..

2016 new high price... nice.

I am speculating, but the amount of nodes is increasing over the last few days. Are people firing up extra 0.9.2 nodes just to make sure we will have a smooth hardfork? Thanks to luigi1111 this node runs another whole month.

- Nodes: https://monerohash.com/nodes-distribution.html
- Countdown timer: http://myrcraft.com/xmr.html

Whoa, 200 nodes! That is the highest number I have ever seen (hopefully not just cold storage that gets unfrozen..).

Interestingly Spain, Portugal and Italy don't have a single node. Still some ground in Europe to cover I guess.

My node is up but not on the map :/

Mine doesn't show since  0.9.2 update, but status shows all good.

I wonder when we run out of dumpers... Mining do not produce more than 9800 coins per day so the mining is not the source of dumping we have been seen. Obviously some bigger guys need to dump their precious gem stones on the market after green days causing some bloodish candles. I hope there are spirit of soldiers to tackle the dumpers and teach them a lesson and pump it even higher after a dump.

Here goes.  Lent a large portion of my lending coins again for that dump, at a nice rate.  And now the book finally starts moving up with the price, so lesson incoming, I think.  Hope I get my coins back  Lips sealed

No dumpers tonight (this morning for you  Wink ) just buyers.  Support is really lagging though, nothing much to dump into.

Well, someone took what little was bid.

Long stretches of boredom punctusted with intense flurries of activity.  Very profitable periods, for those who make market conservatively.  I wonder, though... Will we ever see 300ksat again

I hope so.  It looks like I might not get my share, otherwise  Cheesy  Leaving my traps in place for now.

LOAN OFFERS Total: 51740.99914053 XMR

I vaguely recall them being over 100k this morning or last night. Anyone able to confirm this?

Also, rates are around 0.1%, which is quite high.

Well holy sh!t!   It was .01 and loaded a few hours ago.  I put some offers in the .1 - .25 range for 'later', and they are all out now.   Better put some bids out to buy them back and relend  Cheesy
2374  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: March 19, 2016, 02:32:07 AM
are you guys loaning out on polo ive been collecting at around like 0.02% rate wish it could be higher.

Is the rate for specified term, or compounded daily, or?

It is a daily rate for a maximum term that you specify. The borrower can pay back early. There is no compounding until the loan is paid back and you reinvest the proceeds (at the then-available rate).

Huh.  Seems there are an awful lot of offers there grasping for pennies.  Hardly worth the effort?
I recall earlier posts suggesting 0.1% as a minimum asking rate, and given the particulars, that seems reasonable.  Less than that... To each his own, I guess.  Though I don't see how you could get a reasonable rate when there are plenty of offers at next to nothing.

Wow I just looked at poloniex today the bid volumes more than doubled!
And its all in one buy order that can be removed at the whim of one entity.

How much of a downward motion would this create if they decided to get out?

It's far enough from market price that I don't think it would have much effect.  More of a curiosity than anything.  Now if it moved up, closer to market, that might have some stimulative effect.
2377  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: March 18, 2016, 09:12:03 PM
This buy wall is really insane why is there a wall at least as big as the natural bid volumes

For entertainment purposes.  Watching it market buy would be even more entertaining though.

If you saw this wall and market bought Monero because of it, driving up the price, then you got tricked and are doing what the whale wants.
And you got the moneroj you want, at a price you found acceptable.

Where can I exchange XMR on USD?
You can exchange to USD on Poloniex. They have Tether USD which is backed 1-1 with USD.

how/where do you get rid of the tether?

Where can I exchange XMR on USD?

Nowhere, yet.  Request the pair from Kraken to show your interest.
