242  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are your coins really safe stored in your wallet? on: April 14, 2022, 10:09:45 AM
I had recently been thinking about how really safe bitcoins or/and other alt coins are when stored in your wallet.
With fiat currency, financial institutions; mostly banks go all out with the notion that their institutions are safe and their vaults are top notch yet they still fall prey to bank robbers who would cart away valuables from the vault.
How safe then are the wallets used in storing coins? And if they could at any time and in any way be compromised hence losing your bitcoins

If your coins are stored in non-custodial wallets ( the wallets which give you access to the private keys), then your coins are safe. (although you need to know about the best practices and security measures.

If you are storing  your coins on centralized wallets  or exchanges ( wallets protected by username and passowrd), then you are at a big risk and should immediately take action to move the coins to the secure wallets.
243  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Debunking the "Bitcoin is an environmental disaster" argument. on: April 14, 2022, 09:49:36 AM
If they truly care about the environment as they claim they do, then we need to start from top of the list, because PoW is the least thing that consumes energy.
Exactly. It's clear that they're not banning it due to humanism or for the sake of the climate change, because they should have also behaved similarly to a gazillion other things. Their intention is to have more control over the people; the environmental disaster argument is just an alibi.

Government have tried to ban crypto currencies but everytime they have failed to do so. Now they have come up with a new excuse that bitcoin is polluting the enviroment because bitcoin is based on proof of work which consumes a lot of energy for generating bitcoins.

This narrative is going to fail to as this is totally a lame excuse. The factories and industries produces much more waste and consume much more energy as compare to this bitcoin.
244  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Average 70% to 85% drops in 'bear markets' before big pushes to ATH... on: April 14, 2022, 09:26:27 AM
I was looking at the "ALL" view on tradingview and measuring the drops from swing high to swing low on the weekly or monthly from 2012 to 2022 and the average drop was around 70% to 85%..

We are currently only 50% from ATH in Nov... Should we expect to see another 30% here taking bitcoin from anything such as $18,500 to $12,500???

I ask you two question here.

1) Was 69K was the all time high or we have an extended bull market  this time ?

2) Even if 69,000 was top, is it nessesary to fall to 70-80% everytime ? The fundamentals have changed a lot. Today there are lot more institutions, countries and retails who buy bitcoin on every dip and generate a lot of demand that its hard for bitcoin to break the 30K level.
245  Economy / Speculation / Re: BITCOIN will rise on: April 14, 2022, 08:47:18 AM

Chain analysis can only help us get a good grasp at how supply moves; but it doesn't give us a clear picture of the potential demand — which is what actually mostly matters when talking about markets. Can't really have accurate expectations with supply alone.
Chain analysis is only part of the guide for us to carry out the analysis and even this becomes a source of reinforcement in decision making, but as you mentioned, it does not make a clear picture of demand, which I think is of particular concern regarding market developments and volatility, due to market reactions really determines how a particular coin can move quickly to the fore

On chain anaysis of bitcoin are too much bullish but the bitcoin price movement does not correlate the on chain anaylsis data. This shows that only the on chain and fundamental anaylsis is not sufficient to determine the price of the bitcoin and crypto currenccies. There are other demand and supply factors which determine the prices of bitcoin.
In the long term bitcoin will rise but for the short term combining both techinical and fundamental anaylsis may still not be sufficent to know the next direction of the market.
246  Economy / Speculation / Re: When will bitcoin reach its all-time high? on: April 14, 2022, 08:30:05 AM
The highest bitcoin record ever happened was november 2021 when the price was over $69k, at that time I was optimistic that the market would continue to skyrocket and december could reach at least $90k so I bought a lot of bitcoin when the price was above $60k, unfortunately the market dropped and make us lose more than 40%, there is no other option but to just hold and wait for the market to skyrocket again because I don't like selling at a loss.
Who are you fooling? you bought A LOT of bitcoin when the price hit 69k? do you really believe that we will listen to that Story telling? lol

you that a literal Bounty hunter will buy a lot of bitcoin? when you cannot afford buying altcoins?

Comedy isn't?

For a moment, lets believe that he is telling the truth, even then he shuold not panic sell. Anyone who bought bitcoin at all time high, should know that bitcoin will reach again its all time high sooner or later. So if those people can hold thier bitcoins, they will never lose thier money. Its a bad descision to sell the bitcoins when we know that 69K is not the potential value of bitcoin.
Bitcoin may reach 100K or more. We do not know when this will happen but we should keep holding our coins.
247  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: April 14, 2022, 07:50:21 AM
This year's IPL viewership has dropped. In comparison with the previous edition, the TV rating (TVR) of IPL 2022 has dropped by 33%. This should be cause for concern for BCCI. The season looks boring this time around as compared to previous years. Cricket League must innovate to attract and increase its fans.

Your thoughts on IPL 2022!
Yes, it has dropped significantly and there can be multiple reasons for it such as lengthy scheduling of games, too much cricket, and one of the major can be the addition of new teams. These signs can hamper the revenue of BCCI in the future. I think the major reason might be scheduling, they should reduce it to one month game rather than two months.

I also think that the TV rating of IPL has decreased due to the long schedule of IPL. There are now 10 teams in the IPL. It will take about two months for the IPL season to end. And so the spectators have lost some interest in the IPL. Probably the popularity of IPL and TV rating will increase in the knockout round. IPL is still the No. 1 franchise league in the world, even though the TV rating has dropped a bit.

IPL is no doubt the number one cricket league. No other league has the same level of popularity.

Even if the tv rating of IPL is decreased a bit, but i don't think the revenune of IPL is decreased. Due to the long schedule and more matches, its hard to beleive that IPL can lose the reveune.
248  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: online escrow scams? on: April 14, 2022, 05:58:01 AM
The fraudster sends an e-mail to an unsuspecting job seeker who has posted a resume on HotJobs, Monster, or a similar site. The e-mail may indicate the job seeker is perfect for a “National Accounts Manager” position acting on behalf of a group of “independent distributors, well-known in Europe selling electronics,” who want to enter the U.S. market. The job seekers use their bank account to receive funds and wire proceeds from the “large equipment sales” to the “company headquarters” overseas, usually in Latvia, Estonia, Romania, or Cyprus. The job seeker then keeps 8% of the transferred funds as his commission.

Other job seekers are recruited and paid to forward merchandise to con artists. This job seeker, hired as a middleman, forwards the package overseas. The scammed seller receives nothing for the merchandise.

I'm not sure what you're asking for here. Escrow service or you just complain to one of the well-known fraud schemes.
Do online job search platforms not have their escrow integrated inside, why not use them if everything is legal?

there are a lot im not sure which .... i was asking for something someone here use

The escrows aavaible on this forum is trusted one
(₿ LIST ₿ Bitcointalk's ESCROW providers: Ranking & Blacklist ☠ Avoid Scam ☠) and usually the trusted escrow person do not scam. However, if you are looking for onlince escrows, then there is no grantee if the escorw are legit or not. Sadly, people make the escorw companies to scam both the parties.
249  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dogecoin - a joke or a way to make money? on: April 14, 2022, 04:24:21 AM
For the sake of the shilling of Elon musk, you can be positive on it. No one can really answer that question with enough guarantee. But nothing bad in holding some if you are in for long term

I too beleive thar Dogecoin can show some strenght in the mid to long term. If you are holding dogecoin, there is no need to sell it in loss. I am also holding dogecoin and i am waiting for the true altseason, when hopefully dogecoin will break its all time high.

Also if Elon musk started to make some big announcement about dogecoin, we can see people again buying dogecoin and it will pump.
250  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you spend crypto? If yes, for what? on: April 14, 2022, 04:01:21 AM
Here's a question to the audience. Do you actually buy stuff with crypto, like services or goods? If yes, what kind?

I've recently got a Binance card to play around with and use it to pay for everyday expenses. Works pretty well.
I personally have not been able to use it directly as a means of payment, given the prohibition in my country that limits the use of crypto as a means of payment. on the other hand I can only use it when it is converted to fiat currency. even from crypto earnings, I've spent it on buying a house. how nice it would be for a country that has ratified it, of course it can be felt free from inflation

Although i have many oppurtiunites to use bitcoin and crypto online but i try my best not to spend my bitcoins. I am holding my bitcoins for long term and i do not feel comfortable using my bitcoins now. However, sometimes i do pay my bill online through crypto or recharge my interent and mobile bill using cryptocurrenices.
251  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is your opinions about simulated reality games? on: April 13, 2022, 03:48:53 PM
I feel like its not worth it... its just an easy way to continue with a sample game

Maybe you and I like the real game more than a simulation, but simulation games have their audience. They have more than that, TV shows, commentators, a lot of people are behind all that! So I wouldn’t say it’s not worth it, maybe it’s not big yet, but I think it has the potential to grow in the future! Simply people like simulations, there are many simulation games around, and I guess with technology these games will be better and more wanted!

Although Simulation games are not so popular but still they are liked by many people.

Since we are discussing this from the gambling point of view, do we have any bets on simulated games?  I haven't heard of any.
252  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is crypto becoming centralized? on: April 13, 2022, 09:05:43 AM
As crypto hits the mainstream, more businesses and companies are joining the game. We've seen innovations from NFTs to security tokens, and stablecoins. Most of the coins being traded on the market have smart contract functionalities, making them multi-purpose platforms for real world use. While all of this sounds nice, there's been an increasing rate of centralized exchange dominance over the past years. Not only that, but alternative cryptocurrencies (altcoins) have been prioritizing convenience on top of decentralization in order to provide people with lower fees and blazing-fast transaction confirmation times.

Most recently, Lightning Labs announced the creation of a new stablecoin that will operate in its "Taro" platform. If companies start to embrace stablecoins on top of traditional cryptocurrencies, then the whole industry will become heavily centralized. This should be a cause of concern, as a full government crackdown (or ban) could mark the end of crypto's prominence in the mainstream world.

Do you think ever-increasing centralization is a cause of concern? What would be the impact of tightening regulations over the entire crypto/Blockchain space? Will it still be able to survive? Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Smiley

Yes, I believe that centralized stablecoins are not needed by the crypto industry.

The basis of the crypto industry is the first cryptocurrency (Bitcoin).  All other alternative cryptocurrencies are essentially experimental laboratories for testing new cryptographic and financial technologies.  As testing progresses, the best of these technologies are incorporated into the Bitcoin code.

Previously, on cryptocurrency exchanges, altcoins were traded exclusively in tandem with bitcoins.

However, later stablecoins appeared (in particular, tether, usdt).  In my opinion, this is a step backwards.

Cryptocurrency is an alternative to the modern financial system.  Bitcoin is a replacement for the US dollar.

Most stablecoins are centralized.  In addition, they psychologically prepare people for the adoption of Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs).

Blockchain is a wonderful creation and has a promising future if innovation continues in this direction. in my opinion Crypto needs decentralization, otherwise it will soon become a tool of a large conglomerate, and then not much different from ordinary fiat currencies or other commodities. Several governments have started paying attention to crypto and are now talking about tightening regulations.

Government can only regulate bitcoin and crypto if you store them on centrazlied exchanges. Government can get data from these exchanges as you have done KYC on those exchanges. They can tax you on the capitical gains or crypto stored on the exchanges.
If, on the other hand, you store crypto in decentrazlied wallets and exchanges, the government and financial institutions have no access to those places and they have no control over them.
253  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are bounties dead? on: April 13, 2022, 05:59:41 AM
After running several bounty campaigns I have noticed that they only attrach bot accounts, multiple fake accounts controlled by one person or low quality accounts that can not even give adequate comments - it is not the same as it used to be back in the days in 2018. Where has all the quality crowd gone?

You have told the reason yourself as why the bounties are useless for both the bounty hunters and the project owners. Since there is no quality work being done by the bounty hunters, the project usually gets no marketing or investment. For this reason, many projects are unable to gain the investments. Also the project onwers are not willing to spend the money on bounty hunters becasue they feel that thier investment will be in vain.
254  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Fall of BTC open the opportunity to buy alts on: April 13, 2022, 05:26:29 AM
If BTC fall down to 19,000$ again how much do you think that those top altcoins will cost? Solana, Avalanche, Terra and others, lately are you looking at the BTC chart? It looks like BTC will go Bear phase from now on, isn't it better to buy altcoins then than right now?... I'm hoping this opportunity comes though what about you?
The crypto market is already different from previous years, now the market has grown stronger as it has been widely adopted by the society so even though this year the market will enter a bear market it is very likely that the bitcoin price will not drop lower below $20k as you mentioned because during the beginning of the year to date the lowest price for bitcoin is $30k.

It won't be easy fo bitcoin to reach 20,000$. There is a lot of demand at 30K and i don't think bitcoin should go below this value. The fall of bitcoin causes altcoins to dump a lot and also if bitcoin does not recover quickly, altcoins can even go below thier tested support and many take months to recover. We have seen that many altcoins made thier all time high last year and they are 60-80% down right now.

Altcoin market is very volatile and even if  altcoins are avaiable at low prices,  one should always keep money management in place. Opening big position in altcoins can be risky at times.

256  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is this also your strategy to avoid hitting your stop loss early? on: April 13, 2022, 04:48:19 AM
I know that lower margin and low leverage are also farther away from the liquidation price, so is it okay to set low margin and low leverage first to avoid losing if your strategy doesn't work, and then add if does the price follow your strategy? Is this also your strategy?

Taking low leverage is recommended because if you take big leverage, the exchanges usually liquidate you. You might have seen many wicks on the trading chart which are infact the liquidation wicks.
Stoploss placement and low leverage are two seperate things. First you need take low leverage and then place a stoploss, so that if the market moves in oppsoite direction of your trade, you are out of the trade with minimum loss and do not liquidate the account.
257  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Does Solana have a future? on: April 13, 2022, 04:17:02 AM
Rest assured of it. The unnecessary problems have been solved, but they are becoming stronger and stronger. Looking at its popularity in this space, I am sure in the future, the Solana ecosystem will compete directly with other leading platforms. I see their development is going in the direction that CZ did with Binance. I believe the future will be huge and strong in every area that can be solved in the market.
well, i also see solana like you said. and now we can see that solana is almost close to BNB in terms of popularity. although for sure I don't think it will be able to beat BNB but it's close enough. and under solana now there is someone who wants to pursue Solana's success, namely Avax.

Initially i was very much optimistic about solana blockchain as it seems to be very fast and efficent. I also belived that solana blockchian will take over the binance smart chain at some point but my opioion is totally changes atfer i heard of some type of bug in the SOL blockchain. Perhaps we cannot trust the centralized blockchian lile solana only on the basis of speed and less secure as compare to ethereum blockchain.
My advice is that we can still invest in SOL but do not invest everything in solana.
258  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is it too late to buy? on: April 13, 2022, 04:01:48 AM
There are countless of posts like this in multiple platforms from many years ago until today, and there will be plenty more in the future.

Think of Bitcoin as a savings account. It would have been better to start saving 10 years ago, but it's fine to start today.

Those who think for long term are the ones who get real benefits for thier investments in crypto. Its never too late to buy if your vision is to hold for atleast five years.
If you see the history, you will come to know that bitcoin has rewarded the most to the ones who intend to hold for long term.
Also, if you do not buy bitcoin now, then you may never be able to buy becasue you always look for cheap prices, no matter how cheap are the prices.
259  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Does staking even make any sense on: April 12, 2022, 11:35:43 PM
Sigh, I don't expect anyone complaining about annual returns on staking when your bank account cant even earn up to that amount per year, I have over 30,000$ in my bank account and I can't even take a loan of 1000$ per month, again I don't receive any reasonable returns on this money.
Yeah, I guess this was the most reason why someone do some staking but let's just accept the fact that staking is for rich people and those people who can't afford to invest/stake higher amount of money they should be happy with what they got and appreciate the return even though it's small at least there's a return if you compare it to bank which does makes sense that the difference is big.

I believe there is an option that you can take your money back anytime you like after staking so it's a win-win though.

Keep in mind, that not all staking opportunities let you take back your investment instantly. Most of the time when you stake your crypto, there is a locking period and you can only take the money out of staking once that locking period is over.

For those who argue that staking does not give big returns should know that staking ROI may be low but you have to do nothing in order to get these rewards. Staking is an easy money making process.
260  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: April 12, 2022, 11:13:31 PM
Chennai won the first match of the tournament today. They lost four matches in a row. Today Royal Challengers Bangalore was a tough opponent. But Chennai gave a huge target of 217 runs. Robin Uthappa's unbeaten innings of 95 off 50 balls and Shivam Dube's unbeaten innings of 95 off 46 balls enabled Chennai to give such a big target.

It doesn't look like RCB has tried to win the match. They just wanted to reduce the run gap. Bangalore could have won if the top-order players could have played better. Virat Kohli and du Plessis did not play well today. Bangalore has lost by only 23 runs till the session.

Chennai Super kings was finally able to win the first match in the IPL 2022 but is it too late for them?

Robin Uthappa scored 88 and Shivam Dube got 95 runs due to which they were able to make a decent score. Royal Challengers Bangalore did manage to make over 190 runs but the target was too big for them.
