2481  Economy / Economics / Re: Your opinion on side jobs on: February 14, 2022, 09:25:53 AM
For me the difference between a side job and the main job is not really based on the money, but rather the time spend it per week or month. If the money per hour on the side job is higher than in our main job, it's not necessary our new main job. First of all, we need to determine how many hours we could actually do our side job. Is it possible to do it 40h per week, and will we still get the same high pay then? Many times the side job is limited in time and wouldn't work out as the main job. In my case for example the payout is very volatile. I am selling second hand and antiques online and there a some factors which determine how much time I can spend on it. Getting new things to sell his hard for the right price, if I overpay I might sit on it for months before I get an offer. It also can happen that I am not selling anything in a month, and then the week after I am selling 5 things at once. It would be hard to do it as a main job because of the unpredictable money inflow.
2482  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Is A Better Option Than Fiat Money? on: February 14, 2022, 09:01:41 AM
I don't think we can give an absolute answer to that question. Both crypto currencies and fiat money offer advantages that we as consumers and investors should take into consideration. It also depends on our general financial situation if crypto currencies or fiat money are better. For example, the average person receives his monthly salary in fiat money. The loan for his car or house is usually also in fiat, same goes for paying taxes and other bills. In such a case I would argue that fiat money is the better option for him. He can invest some of his money into cryptos but since his obligations are mostly in fiat he should stay like that. However, if most of our income comes from crypto currencies than it's a much better option for us. If income and expenses are in different currencies, we face the risk of getting hurt during bear markets. As long as inflation is so high, the risk is small and crypto seems like the better option. But who knows what crisis we will face in 2022.
2483  Economy / Gambling / Re: Paddleboat Mississippi, new poker site with low fees and good privacy on: February 11, 2022, 01:22:51 PM
Always nice to see a new Poker website being developed. I will check your website out this weekend and give it a try. Having an active player base is the most important thing for any poker website. Nothing is more frustrating than sitting alone on a table and nobody is joining. Playing against bots can be nice for learning purposes, but to really play for money we need to have other humans to play against. Maybe during your initial launch phase you could add more heads-up tables so you only need 1 person to play against. To attract a larger scale of players you should also consider running some promotions and giving deposit bonuses for larger stakes. It's quite hard to convince regulars to switch to your website. Good luck with website.
2484  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: That is why play to earn concept is a massive failure on: February 11, 2022, 01:02:41 PM
I am also struggling to understand the value and lifetime of such play to earn schemes. As soon as the inflow of new players stops and no new money is being added to the system the values drop sharply. I understand that advertising and promotions are one form to create value for the goods, but these are usually not permanent contracts and will eventually. I noticed that for certain games artificial items that offer bonuses or cosmetic changes are the best way to retain value within the game. These goods usually involve rarity and are hard to obtain to be valuable. In the end it seems that only the most popular games manage to stay profitable, most schemes eventually drop to 0.
2485  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: The market is confusing on: February 11, 2022, 12:52:34 PM
Looking at high volatility on crypto markets these days it can seem confusing. In particular looking at intraday trading data shows a lot of "noise". For traders all the price changes in the market that are not really based on fundamental data or no information is called noise. It adds nothing new to the market that confusion. That's why checking prices to often can cloud our mind and hinder our thought process. Day trading is a very hard and competitive, only very few traders can consistently outperform the market. In my opinion it's better to try and identify long term trends. If we are looking too closely it can help to widen the time line. Technical analysis is a very important tool to identify these long term trends.
2486  Economy / Economics / Re: US national debt exceeds $30 trillion on: February 11, 2022, 12:08:57 PM
And so the debt spiral continues to spin, there is no real end insight. And still most people believe in the system, but the system is broken and will not fix itself. As long as politicians have full control over the financial system is there no pressure to act responsible. Why bother working towards a balanced budget if you can just issue new debt to make gifts for the voters and lobbyist? We have seen this in the past with the debt ceiling, in the end the politicians all worked together to increase the limits. There is no oversight in place that enforces rules and prohibits politicians from changing them. It's up to the voters to wake up and demand change. Also it's not only USA who is piling up these massive debt levels, many other countries are sitting in the same boat.
2487  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bull Run in Bitcoin on: February 11, 2022, 11:42:55 AM
I sometimes think that bitcoin and crypto market are now matured and we may not see extended bull or bear runs. Bitcoin will reach a hunderd thousand dollars or more but it won't be a parabolic move. What are your thoughts on this ?

In my opinion a bitcoin price at 100,000 USD is very realistic this year, we don't have to wait until 2024 for the next rally. Halving is still very important for the mining community and will have impacts on the crypto prices, the impacts will be smaller and smaller. The mining rate is much lower now than it was 10 years ago. It has to remain profitable for the miners, but most coins are already in circulation. That's why only buying new coins every 4 years before the halving is not a good idea. In the last 12 months we have seen bitcoins drop twice rapidly, only to bounce back up again. For me buying more BTC below the 40,000 and 35,000 USD barrier is a very good deal. Then just hold and wait for a new ATH. So far HODL is still one of the most profitable strategies.

2491  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Poker bankroll building challenge. on: February 07, 2022, 11:30:34 AM

Building a bankroll challenges 99% of the time end the same. He should have just thrown a dice and be done with it. People think certain strategies will bring them success when gambling and all of them think their strategy is the right one and everybody else's was wrong. And here we got another loser which belongs to the 99%.

Unfortunaley yes, no replying here for a month probably means he didn't get his target results. But maybe he didn't have time or was sick and couldn't update us here. Building a bankroll from scratch through freeroll tourneys is very hard work. I wouldn't say that 99% of bankroll challenges fail and that they are losers. It makes a big difference if they start with capital or only rely on free money. I also try to focus on my bankroll constantly in Poker. It might not be a challenge but a continuous requirement. Moving up or down in stakes is based on the bankroll. We need to be able to cover a series of bad beats to not go broke completely. It can happen that we go Allin with AA per flop and still lose. If our bankroll can't withstand that happening a few times we are screwed. That's why I find these bankroll challenges so interesting, it's a good way to remain focused on our capital and not risk too much.
2492  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🕹️ Esports 🎮 Prediction & Discussion Thread on: February 07, 2022, 09:19:51 AM
tomorrow the next round in the ESL Meisterschaft Spring 2022
ALTERNATE aTTax vs Sissi State Punks alternate is the better team they should win, maybe a bit troulbe on some rounds butt at the end they win.
PartyDaddlers vs No Limit Gaming easy for limit gaming to win they are much better.

I didn't know Alternate aTTax was still competiting in mid size to big tournaments. Remembering that team from the good old CS 1.6 times, they always had a strong team back then. I think their sponsor Alternate has been with them for 20 years or so by now. A good sign for a strong team. It seems their whole roster was taken over from REZIST at the start of this year. I will keep an eye on them now. Thanks for the recommendation. The other two teams I haven't heard about yet, but to be honest PartyDaddlers doesn't sound very professional, I would also go with No Limit Gaming here.

2493  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casino KYC how it works and to what effect on: February 06, 2022, 11:47:45 AM
Realizing how negatively kyc is seen by many players mostly in cryptocurrency casinos players am confused what kyc does in a casino, why do some casino operators have kyc and others don't have. I email also a part of kyc because most casinos often than not request email. What are KYC's advantages and disadvantages.

KYC offers a lot of advantages for the casinos and gambler in my opinion, but it also has some drawbacks as it removes the anonymity from online gambing. First of all KYC provides a layer for security for the casinos. If a casinos is offering promotions or sign up bonuses, than using KYC they can make sure that every gambler only signs up once at their casino. Without such measures in place, gamblers can take advantage of the promotions from the casino. Also KYC makes sure that there is no underage gambling. It is hard to enforce laws in every player is anonymous. For smaller amounts gambling with KYC can seem as a hustle, but at larger sums (>1000 USD) KYC should be the norm.
2494  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🕹️ Esports 🎮 Prediction & Discussion Thread on: February 06, 2022, 11:27:53 AM
Blast premier Spring Groups final matches will be played today, I can say it's a very competitive day. G2- Vitality match has already started, I think G2 team will prevail from this match. Monesy has been a very good carrier for the G2, a good transfer, then there are OG-NIP and FAZE-BIG matches. Bets can be made to win NIP and Faze. The teams had a good transfer period, I see very important changes.

Where some interesting matches yesterday, didn't expect G2 to lose to vitality to be honest. There are three more games to today and time for G2 Esports to come back vs MIBR, should be a good win for G2. Also in the second match NAVI should be winning vs NiP. No real surprises to be expected here. My favourite match will be Astralis vs BIG, I used to be a big Astralis fan but in the past they were not very convincing and I enjoy watching BIG play more these days.

2496  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Poker bankroll building challenge. on: February 06, 2022, 09:19:57 AM
After getting this initial thrust to my bankroll. I want some help from the learned members of this forum on how should I approach this challenge? Not only that now I have decided to do away with freerolls as they are sucking up too much of my energy and screen real estate. I will be playing on different websites also because some of them are offering quite good value-for-money tourneys. In case you are interested in hand analysis please let me know so that I can share them also.

I am not sure if you are still playing a lot of poker right now, but if you do would be nice if you share some more information from your journey. Poker is my favourite casino game that I have been playing for more than 10 years myself. Always enjoying watching or reading something about poker. In case you want to do some hand analysis here in the forum it would be cool too. I will try and help. Investing too much time in freerolls is not good if it takes away your energy. The problem I have with freerolls is that a lot of people will go all in every second hand, so within a few rounds there will already be people with a few times the starting stack. And once you are chip leader on the table it becomes much easier to take advantage of missplays by other.
2497  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin literally fixes this on: February 06, 2022, 09:00:23 AM

Canadian truckers are protesting the vaccine mandate. There are supporters, and people who are against the protests, that’s another debate. But GoFundMe is currently “reviewing” the fund raising campaign to possibly censor it later. If only there was a censorship-resistant currency that Canadians can use for that fund raising campaign. Cool

Not sure how bitcoins would fix gofundme campaigns, bitcoin is a currency whereas gofundme is a website where people can ask for money from strangers. It might feel like censorship if the admins take down a campaign, but the company has set out a certain rules to avoid misuse and scammers. Bitcoins could help to setup something similar where the campaign manager has more flexibility and doesn't need to worry about being cancelled. The problem here would then be to make sure no fraudulent campaign is being run on the website. It is just to easy that when you hear about a big tragedy on TV to go and create a campaign for the victims, but who is going to check and verify that you are actually helping the victims with the money and don't pocket it yourself. Bitcoins has a lot of good features, anonymity is usually a good one. In the case of collecting money from strangers it 's probably not so helpful.
2498  Economy / Economics / Re: Are Renewable Energy sources the future? on: February 06, 2022, 08:31:37 AM

Solar is great, the chart for cost per watt is like a ski jump.  Its fallen so much I hope solar is massively more viable ongoing then it used to be even in fairly northern parts of the world, obviously its been viable in a desert terrain for a while.    Big one I heard is skyscrapers with all the windows able to function as part solar panels, thereby the building becomes justified in its energy usage; really big if true since cities are natural polluters.

I agree with you, Solar power is the future and we will see another push in the next 5-10 years. The efficiency of solar power is constantly growing and once we solve the problem of more easy ways to transfer and store energy it will be the main of energy. Building large Solar farms at the best locations on earth with plenty of sunlight and then transferring the energy to unfavourable locations will be the key. Why not take advantage of free energy that is provided by the sun every day? In my country the government is just changing the law, and any new build residential roof needs to have solar panels on top of it in the future. This will transform the energy consumption for the residential sector. As for industry solar power is probably not strong enough and requires other forms of energy. In my opinion Solar and Nuclear power is going to be the future.
2499  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What are the most important features of an online crypto casino? on: February 06, 2022, 08:07:08 AM

Good customer support means a very good gambling site, in my opinion. We're talking about money here, especially those gamblers that deposit big amount of fiat worth of cryptocurrency, therefore if they experience some problems in a certain gambling sites, customer support is their only choice to ask some help regarding about the problem. Without good customer support while experiencing a big problem, for example is withdrawing your profit (a big amount), that would be a total anxiety attack that wouldn't let me sleep at night until resolved.

There's a lot of issues in some gambling sites that prevents their players once they are withdrawing their money, yet the customer support is not even helping them, I guess many of us got the trauma in that kind of scenario that's why we seek for a superb customer support.

You are probably right, I was looking at the things more from my own point of view than through the eyes of the average gambler. My gambling budget is on the lower end compared to most gamblers here I would assume, that is why deposit bonuses are so lucrative for me.  I am still trying to build up a nice bankroll for Poker and other Casino games. So switching to another casino to take advantage of a new deposit bonus can make a big difference for me. But the whale gamblers here already have a big bankroll and probably don't need so much new promotions, for them customer support is much more important. It is good we have a forum here were gamblers write about their bad experiences with customers support, then others don't have the same fate. And it will also increase the pressure on casinos to improve their customer support team.

Is it just me or people are out of liquidity ( money ) ?

From what i see : market , malls etc no people,or if they buy something...they buy basic stuff... in my area ...slow biz ...same in your country ?

Not really in my country. Here inflation in constantly rising and people are going crazy with their spending. It seems a bit like people are afraid to miss out a way to save their money. In my city there are so many new constructions sites. In every street you can see a shop being renovated, a new house being build or just some outdoor works. The construction companies are being booked out for the whole year already and give only indicative prices for next year now, with prices to go up 35% more this year. It's crazy, higher inflation leads to higher demand, which keeps rising the prices even higher. I wish liquidity would try out a bit to keep prices in check.
