1501  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Types Of Online Casinos To Avoid.. on: December 27, 2022, 08:15:13 AM
A casino with no provably fair policy is a red flag and players are not expected to use such online Casinos because their betting outcomes is fabricated in favor of the casino, and players tend to loss out massively too. Aside from this forum, Casinomeister is a good forum that reviews the authenticity of an online casino for players. We must avoid any Casino with poor customer representative, and slow to solve a critical problem like payout or withdrawal issues. So, if a casino has a track record of withholding people's money, then its a red flag for players; such Casino shouldn't be patronized.

I agree with you that we should be doing research online before choosing a new casino for us. Reading reviews in forums like bitcointalk is my go to source to determine if a casino is legit or not. Trusting in a forum where you can see the user who wrote about the casino is much better than trusting in any of the many review websites. For example, if a senior or hero member here on the forum has an issue with the casino than I would give that claim much more weight than from an anonymous review online. Checking the provably fair policy is a good start, also looking at the ToS is a good indication how sophisticated the new casino is. The main issue would be of course if there are problems with withdrawals, withholding money from the gamblers is a big red flag and leads me to avoid that casino.
1502  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should your wife or husband know your seed phrase? on: December 27, 2022, 07:59:19 AM
When a man gets married to a woman to become husband and wife, they become one and everyone expects that they can get to share everything with each other. I know of women who have the passwords to their husbands bank cards and they can make withdrawals on his behalf. I will like to ask the Men here if they have shared their seed phrase with their wife's? I will like to ask the women here how they will feel if their husbands refuse telling them their seed phrase?

It really depends on what kind of relationship you have with your wife. In today's world it became more common for husband and wife to have separate accounts when it comes to a divorce. Woman make much more money these days and it's not like in the past where the husband always had to provide for the woman. In my country separate estates became very common. In such a case I am not sure if I would like my wife to know the PIN to my bank account or the seed phrase to my wallets. There is of course the problem that something happens  to you and nobody has access to your crypto wallets. It would be sad for all our precious coins to be lost for ever. In my opinion, it would be good to talk about it and let her know where she can find all the important information if she ever needs it.
1503  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Where to play poker with crypto ? on: December 26, 2022, 10:39:51 AM
Hi everyone,

It's been a while since I played poker with crypto, back then I used betcoin.ag but they closed their poker rooms.
Does anyone know a trustworthy place to play poker with crypto ?

Thanks

Most of the big casinos that offer poker rooms allow you deposit money with crypto currencies. The balance on the casino is usually in US Dollar, so the casino is going to convert the coins for you. Whenever you want to withdraw money again you can choose the same method as depositing. You are not gambling directly with cryptos, but at least you can withdraw your winnings with it. If you haven't played before at GGPoker or Poerstars I would recommend you both of them. They have promotions for new customers always that are really good, you can get either a deposit bonus or some free tournament and sit and go tickets. I managed to get some decent profit out of them.
1504  Economy / Economics / Re: Vegetable Prices Soar 40% as Crops Fail Under Extreme Weather on: December 26, 2022, 10:17:14 AM
What options do those with less disposable income have? A pack of seeds can cost as low as $5 which could conceivably allow for percentage interest on gains within an entry level setting. If it is possible to grow $50 of food from a $5 pack of seeds, then in theory 10x return on investment becomes possible.

Sounds like a good plan but you are forgetting a few factors. First of all, you need land to grow the vegetables. If you have a spare garden with enough space to start farming its great, but most people live in big cities with apartments. There is the chance to grow some herbs on the balcony, but that is pretty much it. There is the chance to rent a small piece of land at the outskirts of the big cities, but they are expensive and there is a lot of demand for them. Another factor to consider is water prices, as in most regions of the world vegetables need a lot of water to grow. Another thing could be protection against storms or frost. I think growing vegetables on a larger scale efficiently is quite a hard job and will require some knowledge before getting into it.
1505  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is this a good plan at all? on: December 26, 2022, 10:03:23 AM
Crypto gambling keeps growing faster than Fiat gambling, it's good to see that the masses now favours crypto for gambling than using Fiat but the only issue I have with crypto is the security, data breach and co so I want to know if hiding my IP on a crypto gambling website is secure? I am going with a premium sub of express VPN. If you think otherwise please tell me.

I would be very careful when using a VPN. Are you using the VPN to be logged in from another country, or are you keeping the same country and just want another IP? Most casinos don't allow the use of VPNs because different countries have different regulations. Especially if you are in a country very gambling is limited or even banned it's kind of a big deal to circumvent it with a VPN. The casino could freeze your account any time and all your winnings would be void. In my opinion the risk of losing money is much larger than the extra layer of security you get.
1506  Economy / Gambling / Re: making 500-1000usd daily in poker must read i need a partner! on: December 26, 2022, 09:45:35 AM
i have a poker way to make money i will show u it fully if we can work together, not alot of money is needed , why i need money? because i was in debt im making but small amounts we can scal this up i would be fully transparent lets make this money if ure interested send me your discord

This doesn't sound very promising. Why not give some more information first? Asking for money here on the forum with a new account is not a good idea. Also you need to be careful when moving up the blinds poker, it becomes much more competitive at higher stakes. Don't think you are going to make the same kind of returns you did at lower stakes.
1507  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 99% of People Will Lose Crypto in Self Custody on: December 26, 2022, 09:38:39 AM

He may be right because most people do not understand the risk, if they are not careful they could lose all their crypto.  Some may lose their private keys and others may connect their wallet at scam sites and they will be deprived of their funds.

Of course there are risks involved in self custody of crypto currencies, but there risks in any form of storage. Saying that 99% of the people are going to lose thei funds seems like an exaggeration. How does he even come up with that number, there is no empirical proof for that clima, more of a subjective assessment. Also not sure if the CEO of one of the biggest crypto exchanges is the best person to speak up a gainst self custody. It's good to make people aware of the risks involved in being responsible for your own cryptos, but he obviously has some motivation for people not to store their own coins. It's a lucrative business for an exchange to have the customers leave their coins at the exchange. In the past we have seen big exchanges going bankrupt, resulting in large losses for customers who didn't self store their coins. I personally prefer to be responsible for my own coins, even if that means a little bit more risk of theft.
1508  Economy / Economics / Re: The poor people with their reasoning on: December 25, 2022, 04:28:47 PM
No matter how hard you try, poor people can be difficult to persuade to accept and invest in bitcoin, according to my crypto knowledge and people's enlightenment. They vehemently criticize whatever you show them or introduce them to. They are the ones who constantly inquire about how you manage your funds in order to live during this economic downturn.

From my experiences I know that poor people struggle a lot to make their finances last a whole months, saving and investing is usually not an option. If you have no portfolio to start with it's very difficult to convince someone to start buying bitcoins or other crypto currencies. And it doesn't really matter if it's cryptos, stocks or commodity funds, there is no strong motivation for either of them. If you really want to help someone then you should do more than to only tell them to buy bitcoins. Why I noticed from poor families in my city is that in most cases not the income is the problem but rather the expenses. They are living above their means and even if they had some additional income from an investment portfolio than they would mostly likely also increase their expenses. Sitting down with them and show to control their finances better and have monthly budget in place would be the best way to help in my opinion.
1509  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Betting strategy question on: December 25, 2022, 04:18:30 PM
1 - will you take that bet?
2 - if so, what % of your available funds would you put at stake (i.e. funds you're willing to gamble and afford to lose)?

Interesting question for the gamblers among us. I would definitely take that bet if it was offered to me. Having the chance to make 12x profit with a 1/6 chance of winning is no brainer. Like you showed us the expected value is positive for us. No casino could afford such a game for a long period of time, they would go bankrupt. The issue is of course that we can roll only once, so I'm 5 out of 6 cases we are going to lose our money. In that position I would probably bet 25% of my monthly gambling budget. That's the highest I could afford to lose in a single bet without feeling bad about it for weeks.
1510  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Brazil passes law to legalize crypto as a payment method on: December 25, 2022, 09:17:21 AM
I saw the headline and thought we will be having another El Salvador experience in Brazil only to discover they didn’t make bitcoin a legal tender. I think the goal of the Brazil government is to regulate bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. And they are using the FTX scandal as an excuse to do so. I could be dead wrong or paranoid. What do you guys think about this development in Brazil? Is it good or bad for bitcoiners in Brazil?

El Salvador and Brazil are two very different country. Brazil has their own currency which is used by a lot of people in the world. It's the largest country in South America and there are millions of Brazilian who are living abroad and use money to send back to support their family. El Salvador is a much smaller country that had their own currency pegged on the US Dollar for a very long time. That is why I don't think Brazil could switch overnight to Bitcoin as the legal tender, they would need so much Bitcoins first to make that possible and probably can't afford it. But as far as I understand it they only accept Bitcoins as a legal payment method, so there is no real desire to get rid of the Reais. Which is a good thing in my opinion. Having the option to choose between the Reais and Bitcoins make it easier for people to get into crypto currencies. This is going to make it more attractive for crypto miners to settle down in Brazil. Looking at the cheap living cost in some parts of Brazil it could be a new destination for miners to live. The only problem is the heat, a lot of cooling will be required for the mining rigs.

1513  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casino bonus is it worth it? on: December 23, 2022, 09:55:38 AM

Does completing bonus is still possible and profitable or it's just like chasing the wind?

In my opinion bonuses are worth it and we should always take advantage of them, as long as they are reasonable. It might depend a bit on the bonus itself, for example some bonuses are for high rollers that bet in much larger sizes, or some bonuses could be for gamblers that play every day. It makes sense to have a realistic approach to our gambling habits and see if we meet all the requirements for the bonus. The most common bonus is probably a deposit bonus and I would always recommend to use it. It makes such a huge difference if we get 100 or 200% bonus on our deposit. The second most common bonus is probably free spins and I would also always use them. If there are two similar slot games, but one is offering the chance to win free spins I would always go for it.
1514  Economy / Economics / Re: Use your money wisely. Invest or Deposit ? on: December 21, 2022, 09:19:36 AM
Now you have $100,000 in your account, pure savings, and you don't need this amount of money to cover your daily expenses. Obviously it's good/free money to use at will. Let's say if you deposit the money into a bank and the annual interst rate is 3%, you will get a steady interest income year by year. If you use this money to buy Bitcoin, let's say the BTC drops to $17,000, you'll buy less than 6 Bitcoins. In the long run, what would you do with this money ? And why ?

Don't leave your money in a savings account, that's the worst thing you can do at the moment. 3% interest rate sounds nice, in my country it's more like 0.5%, but comparing that to 10% inflation you are screwed. Leaving money at the bank means you lose a lot of purchasing power each year. It would even be better to spend the money today and enjoy it as long as it has some value. For 2023 the inflation is not expected to come down much, we need to prepare ourselves. Investing is the only alternative to try and protect your money. Putting all of your 100k into bitcoins is to risky in my opinion. It would be better to invest 50% into stocks and bonds, the other 50% I would invest in cryptos, with 25% into Bitcoins and 25% into the top 5 alt coins. The more you spread out your money the better you are positioned against big price drops. Diversification is important to build a less risky portfolio.
1515  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Using Bonus Buy or Not Using Bonus Buy? on: December 21, 2022, 08:13:26 AM
Which is the most profitable or generates the most profit between buying a Bonus Buy or playing normally without buying a Bonus Buy?

This made me curious because I tried it in several games such as Gate of Olympus, Mental, Fire in the Hole, Sword of Ares, Land of Zenith and others. And I see that buying Bonus Buy is more profitable. Is it really like that? What slot games often allow you to win more money by using Bonus Buy?

Not an expert on slots, I hope we mean the same thing with the Bonus Pay, it's when you collect tokens and after enough rounds you can buy/get for free the bonus rounds? I rarely use the option for Bonus Buys during my slot sessions, because I never get enough tokens to get it for free. Whenever there are free spins, I am happy for it and use them straight away. But with the Bonus Pay it seems that I still have to pay a large sum of money to get access to it. And the few times I tried it out I didn't make any profit out of it, maybe I was just unlucky. It's nice that they seem very profitable for you, but for me I never really had luck with them. Are you keeping track on how much you spend on the Bonus Buys and how much you make out of them? Would be nice to see a summary over a few weeks/months using them to see if the profit is consistent and it would be advisable to always use them.
1516  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why there are no cool games on: December 21, 2022, 07:58:54 AM
The technology today is bad only dice, roullete and the normal games like slots.

Its not competitive. Why not open games players vs players.

There are several factors why most casino games are player vs the house and not vs other players. First of all, the casino makes the most money if they are playing against the customers directly. All of the casino games have a house edge that makes it more likely for the casino to win over time. It's a profitable business model for the casino and there is no real incentive to change it. The second big issue is that you need to find games that everybody knows, only if there is enough demand for a game then it would be worth it for the casino to offer it. When player vs player games would be the main attraction than the casino would only make a small profit in form of a flat fee. Card games seem like the type of games that are played all around the world and most people know the rules or can learn it quickly. If you are looking for a competitive game where you only play against other people I would recommend you Poker.
1517  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are we ever going to see this on gambling platforms some day. on: December 20, 2022, 12:04:59 PM
Well this is similar to my topic [1] that i posted few days ago here asking if it’s considered a gambling or not since you will depending on your skills to double your money called also pay to earn. Which mean your place a bet for someone to challenge you and the winner take the pot money. But in any case there is still an element of luck involved. For example, the outcome of a match can be influenced by factors such as the random selection of characters or stages.

[1] : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5425893.msg61398341#msg61398341

It sounds nice to have a pay to earn scheme that includes a specific skill for us to make a profit. The problem with it is that for you to make money someone else needs to lose that money. That  also means only the best of the best with the highest skills would regularly play for money and allow betting on it. Without a skill system in place it becomes very unfair matching against each other, and even with a system the chances of having smurfs and people with multi accounts becomes a real problem. And then there is the issue of having a large enough player base to get regular matches people can bet on. If it's not a popular game then there won't be a lot of traffic and it will not be worth it for the casino to provide the infrastructure. With new games there could be a lot of demand for it, but so far I haven't heard of any casino offering it.
1518  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will digital dollar be a threat to bitcoin? on: December 20, 2022, 11:51:06 AM
You can imagine digital dollar as a stable coin in crypto. There are stable coins like us dollar in crypto world too. But that doesn't threaten BTC at all. The dollar will be controlled by Government, which defies the sole purpose of BTC, which is freedom and anonymity of personal space. No strings attached.
Why do you think BTC has come to this position over the year?
It's simply because Bitcoin gives us something which dollar can't provide. And BTC becoming more and more popular day by day. So I don't think this will create any major threat towards BTC.

I agree with you, just because there is now a digital version of the Dollar or the Euro doesn't mean all the problems of the fiat money is solved now. Personally I am looking at the digital Dollar the same way I look at the physical Dollar. Both of them are controlled by the central bank. If politicians decide to print more of it then there is nobody stopping them. The main attractiveness of crypto currencies and bitcoin in particular is the independence from national governments and the limited supply. Only when there is a finite number of coins that can't be created out of thin air overnight, will it be a real protection against inflation and a good store of value. The digital dollar is an attempt by the USA to advantage of the rise of crypto currencies. So far I am not convinced that it will be a threat to the crypto community.
1519  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why every casino got bad habits? on: December 20, 2022, 09:37:17 AM
If you have a look at the scam accusation section, you will find that no casino has a good reputation there. Each and every casino which has their ANN thread here, has at least one complaint against them; sometimes confiscated funds, delayed withdrawal, not paying the winning, freezing account etc. Why this is the principal of all the casinos? Why they can't operate without having any issues? They always do this shit; who knows what has been done with people who don't know how to deal with such a casino. Can you show me a thread that never had any reputation issues on this forum?

We are all humans and humans have issues among each other. Any company that has reviews online will have some negative reviews. The question is how reliable are the negative issue and how often do they occur. For example, even the best restaurant in the world has some negative reviews from people who were not satisfied, or might not even been there and had some other issues with them. There is also the chance of a competitor to try and make false accusations in an attempt to ruin the business. When it comes to posting reviews online I am always a bit sceptical, because there is no verification how legit they are and they could be bought. Here on the forum it's a bit the same, does the member really tell us everything that happened or is he hiding something? It could also be an honest mistake by the person in cusymer support. In my opinion it's important to follow the claims more closely and see how many people have issues with the casino, one bad review is not enough to leave the casino.
1520  Economy / Economics / Re: Warren Buffett rips Wall Street for turning stock market into a gambling parlor on: December 20, 2022, 09:25:36 AM
Is it accurate to say that investment has come to more closely resemble casinos or gambling parlors than areas of investment?

No I don't think so, investment banking today is complete from what it was 40 years ago. If you look back to the 1980s the lifestyle of a banker was much closer to that of a gambler from the Hollywood movies than it is today. Back in the days banker would do anything to get their hands on a deal, going to strip clubs with clients, doing cocain and hiring prostitutes was part of client management. In 80s there was much less compliance, regulation and oversight. All the major deals were discussed in some cigare lounges among white man
Today there is a much higher demand ratio among bankers, so the game changed a lot. Also the public is much more sensible about stories of bankers being involved with prostitutes and drugs. And Warren Buffet likes to do business with wall street, he was the one who bailed out Goldman Sachs in 2008 and made a lot of money with his loan.
