1521  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Slow down if you want to recover your losses on: December 20, 2022, 08:03:54 AM
The slow down bets makes me think clearly and stop me for doing risky bet. This is most important lesson I learned on this messy situation.

Slowing down and going back to smaller size bets is a nice idea to try and recover our losses. I might give it a try next time I face a bad gambling evening. There a few issues however for me when it comes to recovering losses in one session. First of all, I am a huge fan of martingale strategies, so whenever I face a loss I kind of have to double my betting sizes to recover all my previous losses. The problem here is that this leads to large bets fairly quickly when suffering a few losses in a row. Normally I don't believe in loss streaks, but there are evenings for me where I can't get into the greens at all, no matter how hard I try. Usually when facing too many losses I tend to switch games and start from scratch. Going from Black Jack to Roulette or Dice, is a good switch for me. Slowing down could also be a good idea when facing a loss streak, this would help with the issue of losing a lot of money quickly due to doubling up every bet. Instead of trying to recover our previous losses in one single bet, the idea would be now to stick to smaller bets and recover over a longer period of time. Another problem is also my head, whenever losing 3-4 times in a row my brain keeps telling me it's only one more round for me to win. It feels a bit like I deserve to win now because I lost so much already, which is of course not true. The rounds are not connected and the casino doesn't know how much I lost or won, the chances are always the same.
1522  Economy / Gambling / Re: A way to attract new users or a misunderstanding? on: December 20, 2022, 07:50:48 AM
Is web 3 a misunderstanding word for some gambling crypto projects? I've come across few gambling / crypto projects that claimed to be a web 3.0 online casino and other but they still ask for KYC.

The definition of web 3.0 had everything to do with decentralization, block chain technology and token based economics as per what Wikipedia illustrated so why is identity/ verification integrated?

Is this just a misunderstanding of what web 3 actually is? Or it's a way to attract people/users to make them think that their platform is more advanced?.

It's true that it sounds a bit counterintuitive to have blockchain based, decentralised casinos that require us to complete a KYC process. We have learned over the years to stay as anonymous as possible in the internet and don't real too many personal information. The number of scammer and phishing websites increased a lot in the last 5 years, this could also be linked to the increase in crypto prices which makes it much easier to shift around stolen money. The main thing for casinos to require KYC is to prevent money laundering in larger scales to not attract the attention of the government. If a lot of criminals would be using online casino to try and launder their money then the government could step in and ban gambling all together. Therefore some form of regulation is necessary to show the good will of the gambling industry. I noticed that KYC is mostly required when you are dealing in large amounts of money, some casinos only require additional information when withdrawing more than 1,500 - 2,500 USD, which seems like a good compromise to me.
1523  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA 2022 world cup on: December 19, 2022, 09:25:11 PM
I think at my age this is the best finals I have witnessed, to be honest, watching the first half of the game it was as if the France team already made up their minds to let Argentina take the trophy home but that come back from France changed everything about the game and that made the finals a spectacular one. It was obvious that Argentina was in control of the game and at some point, most people were nervous because their expectations became shattered due to the poor performance of France but in the end, the game turned out to be the real final.

About the future of Argentina after this year's game, I think they may not take many years to achieve another title because as most of the aged players will be retiring from football some of the younger players who have not been noticed will be given the opportunity to joining the national team and their performance will determine the time they will need to win another title.

I feel the same, this was a final of a lifetime, so much action and adrenaline during the whole match. France not really playing their full potential in the first half, only to bring the game into over time with Mbappe to score the two goals in less than 2 minutes. Getting the game into penalities always means a lot of randomness for the outcome, one missed shot can change everything. I am glad that Argetina won, had most of my money on them and Messi really deserved the titles. He has been playing football at the top level for so many years now and the titles was the only thing missing for him. The performance from Martínez was also insane, one of the best goal keepers there are. Also France won 4 years ago, and reaching 2nd place this year is a great achievement in itself. A bit sad that there is no more big games now to bet money on it. It's true that the team from Argentina is not going to look the same, Messi won't be playing again. So maybe in 4 years we can see France again on the top.

The bar finally arrived after a little hassle with the delivery company. This is the coolest thing I have won in a long time, thanks a lot again to @MrMojo for doing the raffle here, you really make great bars. There were already some pictures from the bars, but I also want to show the cool box - great design:

The package actually was at my house last week already, but somehow there were some taxes to be paid and the delivery guy isn't allowed anymore to accept money  Huh really strange to see the package, but not being allowed to open it and only getting the notifcation to come to their office 2 days later. Anyways also a big thanks @minerjones for shipping the package over the Atlantic, very fast and professional delivery.

1528  Economy / Economics / Re: Retailers make more profit than wholesalers during inflation. on: December 19, 2022, 07:56:09 AM
I noticed another phenomena in my country when it comes to large producers trying to push prices up without any boundaries. The large supermarket chains started to not give into the demands from the producers to increase the prices for consumers. For a few weeks we had no Coca Cola and other big brand names in the super market anymore. Which was a bit funny because I always thought that the big corporations had all the power, but it turns out that supermarkets that get the actual money from the consumers holds the real power. This is a quite interesting developed because at the same time the supermarket chains is increasing their own low budget brands into a lot of new segments and will happily take away the market share from the products that are not being offered anymore. So for consumers trying to save some money the only real chance was to go for the own no brand products from the supermarket. It seems that the retailers that are closest to the consumers are the ones that can decide on the prices for the consumer to pay the most, they hold all the power now.
1529  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is The Gambling Industry Part Of The Domino Effect That Happens In The Market on: December 18, 2022, 01:22:42 PM
Gambling is not a primary human need. Despite that fact, the gambling industry will never collapse. You will see huge competition between gambling sites, but that is healthy rivalry. gambling is something people will always do and occasionally with big stakes. No one can change that. Just look at the sponsorships that certain sports teams have with gambling sites, where a fortune is counted down to be the sponsor on the shirt. That means a lot of money is coming in and keeps coming. A thriving and stable industry.

I fully agree with, gambling has been part of human life for hundreds of years. One crisis is not going to change anything in that. As long as there is demand for gambling there will be casinos and so far nothing has changed since the FTX disaster. Among my friends there is not a lot of concern about casinos going bankrupt and not being able to pay out customers. This is probably the case due to us not leaving larger amounts of money at a casino. For me a casino should be treated similar to an exchange, its fine to use it for your purpose, but don't leave your money on there. Whenever I have a higher win I will withdraw some of that money. This would also spot any issue that could be there with possible withdrawals if we do it regularly. The only drawback is that we have to pay more fees and have to invest a little bit more time. So far I don't think that there is any real pressure on casino to give a proof of funds. This might change if we have a bankruptcy of a big online casino.
1530  Economy / Economics / Re: Is Deflationary Investment the Most Profitable Strategy for Our Era of Crisis on: December 18, 2022, 09:11:22 AM

Guns and ammunition supplies could decline due to newly introduced gun regulation, lawsuits and restrictions.

Water shortages are becoming a bigger issue globally, due to drought and a number of other factors.

While it is unfortunate that many of these negative trends are contributing towards overall reductions in standard of living for people across the globe.

These negative trends could also be profitable for some in terms of investment or businesses which cater to shifts in supply and demand.

I do think that guns and ammunition will always be a busy industry, because humans can't live without war. There is always a conflict around the world that will require new armaments and other military supply. And even if we could end all the conflicts in the world, countries would never give up their military. Also any major war like we have seen this year is going to increases the budget countries will allocate to the military.
Water seems like the one trend that should keep going upward in my opinion. Every human needs at least 1-2l of fresh water every day and there a few factors that will reduce supply and increase demand. First of all, the world population is constantly increasing which means that we will also need more fresh water every year. Then we have the effect of global warming which increases the occurrence of natural disasters. Whenever a big disaster happens there is a huge demand for water as most local wells will be polluted and not useable. That is why I would consider investing in companies that sell water directly, or in companies that offer filter systems to purify contaminated water.
1531  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: First nuclear fusion ignition achieved electricity price will plummet on: December 17, 2022, 03:11:32 PM

Sure it will take some time to go from lab experiment to first commercial nuclear fusion reactor, but its a milestone that is definitely changing the world as we know it.

This was probably one of the biggest news in 2022 and very positive news indeed. Energy prices have become a huge problem in the world over the last few years. Its not only the crypto community that is struggling with rising energy prices, the whole economy relys on affordable energy. The big question is now how fast that can be replicated in large scale and be rolled out for industrial and consumer needs. This could change a lot for the green energy approach as well. More and more fossil fuels could be left behind to use the most ecological friendly energy sources. Another issue is going to be the accessibility of the technology. Can it be used by other countries free of charge or will it be expensive to get access. Hopefully it's not going to take too long and will make energy cheap for all of us.
1532  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Please provide feedback: How to break into Fiat medium of payment monopoly? on: December 17, 2022, 08:53:03 AM
To make this business model work effectively, merchant service providers and wallet providers would need to work closely together. They could potentially form a non-profit organization to help develop, implement, and manage operational processes and best practices for the Bitcoin lightning network.

Please provide feedback on the above. It is practical, does it make sense?

This sounds very nice and would be awesome if we could implement it in todays world. It would be so much more efficient to have a decentralised payment system that works directly between the buyer and the seller, without the banks sitting in between all the transaction. First of all consumers could cut down on the huge credit card fees. Just imagine how much money would remain in the pockets of consumers, if there were no more credit cards. This is the most lucrative business of banks and they will likely fight hard through lobbying parties to try and stop and removal of the payment monopoly. Another huge saving factor would be on all the bank fees that consumers have to pay on top of the credit card fees. With a decentralised payment system in place we could save a lot of money, but this is also increasing the chance of people not paying their taxes. I think that politcians are too afraid to give up the payment monopoly. Without they can’t enforce easily that all the taxes are being paid directly to the government. We would need some form of oversight that ensure that there is no misuse of funds. So the system would be very practical, just hard to get it rolled out across a whole country, if politcians are trying to sabotage it.
1533  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are we ever going to see this on gambling platforms some day. on: December 17, 2022, 08:46:20 AM
Is there any fighting game like Mortal Kombat where you challenge gamers around the world taking a bet? I don't want to take bet on Mike Tyson or Joshua I want gaming by one self, I believe this is less dependant on Luck, this requires more skill than mere luck.

So you want to gamble on your own esports game that you play against an opponent? Do you want to gamble directly with the opponent, a 1 to 1 bet? Or do you want that a lot of people are able to place bets on your game? Because there is already a huge sports betting market in esports. On big tournaments in CSGO, Dota or Lol there a thousands of people betting a lot of money it. I am not so sure about Mortal Kombat, never played the game and so far I haven't seen any betting on it. Maybe some smaller bookmakers who specialise on less popular games will run some bets on Mortal Kombat. The main issue I have with betting on your own game against the opponent is that do you know how good he is before? Are there some kind of statistics that match players in their skill rating? It would be a bit dull if smurf players are allowed to play against beginners and take all their money.
1534  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Demo Account, Should Not Be Related To A Real Account on: December 17, 2022, 08:33:51 AM
Now my question is
~why can't we relate demo accounts to real accounts
~why do you think people still start making losses on real accounts after long time trading demo successfully

A demo account is as close as it can get to real trading without risking any of your money. Trying out new strategies on a demo account is a good idea in my opinion and I would always go back to checking strategies out of sample if I am not fully convinced that they work. The idea behind a demo account is to make it much easier for you to simulate your trades than having them run in an excel sheet. During university we were offered a stock trading game by a big bank, where we could run our own portfolio for 6 months without using a real money. With my friends we really like it and where doing quite well. After the event was over we running our own portfolio with real money and where able to continue with our returns. That is why I would say that there is no big difference between a demo account and a real account. If you manage to be successful with your demo account than you will also be successful with your real account, just keep following the same strategies.
1535  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Qatar world cup Final Predictions on: December 17, 2022, 08:18:03 AM
Yeah... everyone was waiting for the Brazil vs Argentina clash. As per the schedule, these two teams were supposed to meet each other during the first semi-final. But Brazil never managed to qualify for the semi-final, as they lost out to Croatia in the quarter-final. On the other hand Argentina managed to get past much tougher opponents (Netherlands) in the quarter-final match. And now coming to Neymar, I don't care whether he stops his international career or not. He should have focused on football rather than making controversial comments about politics back home.

That was the match I was rooting for the most, Brazil vs Argentina are two huge rivals and it would have been awesome to watch the two teams meeting each other. Same as Spain vs Portugal, would have been a nice rival match as well. For my initial predictions for the finals at the start of the worldcup I expected France to play against Brazil. I had three small bets placed on Brazil, France and England to win the title this year. So I am already hedged in case France is going to pull it off. But my large bet I am going to be placing on Argentina. Both teams are pretty equal and the match could go either way, but I do think Argentina is more hyped to pull it off. Messi has been fighting for so long to get a worldcup title that it feels like his year now. It's going to be a nice match to watch tomorrow. And then there is also the game for the third place today. I expect Croatia to win, but not sure if I will place a small bet before the match.
1536  Economy / Economics / Re: One way to provide good liquity to markets and bail out economy on: December 17, 2022, 07:42:22 AM

The money what is stand still on the 401k we should put in work
And we don't need bodyguards and security lol 😃
And the good thing about using existing money is that we dont need to print money so we dont need to be afraid of inflation If we do use old money the retirement funds of the 401k

You see guys how smart i am so good solution i have.

To be honest I don't really like your idea of using retirement money to save failing companies. There are people who paid in 40 years for their retirement and are not interested in any risky investment, they only want a modest return and a guaranteed payout. Once you use all that money to buy up bankrupt companies there is no guarantee anymore that the money will be available when it needs to be paid out. FTX is bankrupt because they made bad trades and inflated their own coin with fake trades. Why should such company be rewarded with a bailout for ripping people off? And why should the greedy investors of FTX who didn't look more closely on how their money was spend be saved? I don't think this is a political viable option.

1537  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is your local game includes in online casino ? on: December 15, 2022, 08:43:25 AM
It is called ayo because the seed that is used for the game was gotten from a plant called ayo.

Holy moly, I know that game you posted here but totally forgot about the name and how it is played. It brought back quite a few memories seeing it again. My game must still be in the basement at my parents. I am going to dig it up on christmas. My aunt lived in Africa for many years and used to bring me back local games as gifts from there whenever she came home for christmas. I used to play it with here when I was little, unfortunately she died very young and after that we stopped playing it. Haven't seen the game since then anywhere again, would be quite funny to see it in a casino.

Can this game be included in a casino platform ? Do you have a local game in your country and what is the name ? How will you feel if you see it in an online casino, will you be happy to play it or will prefer playing something new ?

In my country we don't have many popular games that are not from abroad. Most of our board games come from the USA. Maybe the most famous one we have here is Settlers of Catan, but it's quite a long came and wouldn't really work in a casino. There are some competitive gatherings where people play against each other for some smaller prices. It is also mostly younger people playing it and too slow pathed for people to make bets on it. The most famous card game in my country is Skat, my grandfather used to love the game and went on a lot of tournaments. There wasn't much money involved in the tournaments though, it was mostly for fun. The game is not popular enough outside of Germany unfortunately to make it into a casino. It's quite hard to find a game where everybody already knows the rules, or it's easy enough for people to pick up the rules quickly.
1538  Economy / Economics / Re: Saving one third what you earn monthly is not that hard, isn't it ? on: December 15, 2022, 08:24:51 AM
If you are in twenties or early thirties and remain single, earn $3,000 after tax per month, you will probably save $1,000 if you, let's say, spend $500 to $800 on rental, a guest bedroom in a shared house/apartment, $500 on food, $50  on utilities, $150 on phone/internet bills, $400 on commuting costs or gas/maintainance if you have a used car, $200 on occasional entertainment or others. This $1,000 savings will allow you to invest or place a house down payment when time is ripe. Is this possible based on where you live ?

I like your approach of trying to save 30% of your salary for investing. If you can keep it up over the years this will lead to a pretty nice portfolio, as long as you manage to invest it in the right assets. In my country utilities are a bit more expensive and I also spend more on food, on top of that I am still repaying a loan. So all my fixed costs take away around 70% of my salary already. And this doesn't include going out and meeting friends for a beer or buying new shoes and clothes. Over the last 12 months I managed to save roughly 10% of my monthly salary which I am quite proud of. The sad part is that over the the corona years I managed to save more, but now with the life back to normality my expenses went back up again. The main focus for me is still to try and get decent returns on my investment to at least offset the inflation rate.

1540  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can you pass stakes proof of income verfiication? on: December 14, 2022, 03:02:32 PM
I don't really understand why your income should be of any concern to the casino. Doesn't a casino only allow you to Gamble with the money you deposited at the casino first? So as long as the casino doesn't provide credit for the gambler the financial situation should be no real concern for the casino. Requiring KYC is one thing and verifying your address by showing utility bills is fine. But providing documents that show your salary is something different. So far no casino has requested to show that details and I am not sure how I would respond to the request. Hopefully this is not going to be another trend in the gambling industry where many casino will follow and make it mandatory. And what if you are in between jobs, will you then not be allowed to gamble anymore? Even if you have a lot of money in your bank account?
