1601  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buy Bitcoin before the banks and governments do on: November 26, 2022, 07:23:56 AM
Interesting article, I haven't see it before, thanks for positing it here. It sounds a bit unrealistic at moment for central banks to start buying bitcoins, but it would be a great success story for  the crypto community. For Russia it seems that cryptos are one way to get around the sanctions on international money transfers, this will make it more interesting for other governments to also go into cryptos. Especially for countries which are in rivalry or competition with the Western world cryptos can be a real alternative to get out of the Swift payment system. For central banks in Western countries it might be less attractive to start buying bitcoin themselves. The FED and the ECB are both trying to boost their own digital currencies. If word would get out that they start buying bitcoins in large quantities than it will be much harder to convince investors to start using the digital dollar or euro. I think western central banks would like to reduce the dominance of Bitcoins and buying coins would be the exact opposite.
1602  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Qatar bribed 8 players from Ecuador for the opening match on: November 24, 2022, 07:45:44 AM
1. Qatar vs Ecuador match was done and Ecuador won for 2-0 against Qatar.
2. No evidence if Qatar bribed 8 players from Ecuador.
3. Why no one discuss if Saudi Arabia bribed Argentina players and Japan bribed Germany players? Cheesy

There's nothing should be discussed anymore, why we need to discuss to a match that has been ended and the result goes wrong with people prediction. I ask to @OP to lock this thread and just focus to the next world cup match.

Even though Ecuador won the match, it would still be nice to know if there was bribing happening or not. Seems like a big deal to me if the host country really engages in trying to bribe the enemy team. Only the attempt on it's own should already have major consequences and remove Qatar from the worldcup. I am not so sure about the average wages for professional football players in Ecuador, but to me it seems that 1 million is a huge amount. Shouldn't that be flagged by the banks? When 8 players get so much money added to their bank account there should be some kind of proof that could easily be investigated. It baffles me a bit that there is no demand by the international community to investigate the claims furthers. Also there was no need for Japan to bribe any Germany players, we are doing this happily on our own. 4 years ago it was South Korea, now it's Japan. The german team can't handle the pressure. Gonda played exceptionally well during that match, he deserves to win. Now I am rooting for a Japan to get far during the tournament as I lost all my money on Germany and not going to trust them again this cup.
1603  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I Am So Done With Betting Until.... on: November 23, 2022, 09:11:00 AM
I think I am one of the unluckiest gambler/bettor out here, today is one of my worst days again and I think I should quit betting.

Sorry to hear this buddy, I know exactly how you feel. Sometimes you look at a match and it seems like a sure win, there is nothing that could go wrong to make you lose your bet, only to be proven completely wrong. It's such a devastating feeling to watch the game and see how the underdog is winning and there is nothing you can do. This happened twice to me this year again during big CSGO matches when Navi got kicked out. Right after the match it feels like I will never bet again in my life, but that feeling passes. The Worldcup only just started, taking a break now will make you miss out on a lot matches still to come. Maybe split out our bets over several matches next time to diversify your risk a bit.
1604  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you agree that an employer should hire employees who are smarter than him? on: November 23, 2022, 08:52:25 AM
I was listening to a YouTube video by a famous business man and he was saying that he prefers to hire employees who are smarter than him. Do you agree with this style of working? What are the possible intentions behind doing this? Isn't their fear that these smart employees can steal ideas from office or get client details and then start their own companies? What is your view regarding this?

Not really, on my opinion it's more important to have people who work well together than a genius. Very intelligent people usually come with a big ego and they know how intelligent they are. So you are going to have to pay them a lot of more money. This depends of course on the job itself, for some positions a specialist required and then it makes sense to get a very smart person. If I had to choose o would pick a well centered, easy going and friendly worker over a difficult smart person. Another factor is that if you only hire people that are smarter than you, then what are you bringing to the table? Maybe the employees realise that they are doing all the work and could cut you out. And being smart and expert is one thing, having people skills and emotional intelligence is something completely different.
1605  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA 2022 world cup on: November 23, 2022, 08:04:54 AM
Very nice game of Saudi Arabia yesterday, luckily I only bet on England and France so far. Argentina was one of the countries where I would expect more from them. Today with group E & F matches the are some more good games to bet on. First with Morocco vs Croatia that should go in favour of Crotia, but I am passing on the match. More interesting is Germany vs Japan, that should be a sure win for Germany. Then Spain vs Costa Rica seems a pretty one sided game for Spain. And then last match should Belgium beat Canada. I will place small bets on these three games for today. Just going for outright wins and not placing on particular scores as I am a bit afraid for the number of goals we have seen so far. With France getting 4 and England 6, these where hard scores to predict. Right now it's all about building a higher bankroll for the semi and quarter finals to place some more risky bets.
1606  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are you a gambling addict? on: November 22, 2022, 09:42:25 AM
So, do you know if you have a problem with gambling? Here's an interesting article about this subject.

It's always harder to make a diagnosis on yourself than it is for others to interpret your behaviour. I would say that I am not addicted to gambling, but if you ask my ex girlfriend she would probably say yes. I started gambling more than 10 years ago and over the last few tears I have been doing it every week. So you can say that I am regular gambler and stopping gambling completely overnight would be difficult for me. But I still have control over myself. There are weeks where I don't gamble, like on vacation it's no problem take a break for 2 weeks. Another important factor that is part of my gambling routine is to have fixed limits on how much money I use each week for gambling. With such restrictions I limit my maximum loss per month. Once I lost all my balance for a week it's not a problem to stop and not play for the next several days. To me the main thing to not be addicted to gambling is being able to control your habits. As long as you are in control yourself and not driven by the casino it should be okay. Still important to reflect on ourselves though.
1607  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is The Gambling Industry Part Of The Domino Effect That Happens In The Market on: November 22, 2022, 08:23:14 AM
- Do you think The Gambling Industry Is Part Of The Domino Effect That Happens In The Market?

No hopefully the gambling industry is not going to be affected by the recent turmoils. We have already enough problems with the FTX bankruptcy and don't need another crisis on our hands. If all gamblers would withdraw their money at once and nobody keeps on gambling then of course the system would collapse. Do we really want to see all the casinos on their knees? I don't.

Quote
- Will the industry lose the trust of gamblers if one or two casinos scammed their players by closing down and running with what
money they have that belongs to the gamblers?

Unfortunately yes, if a major company in the sector turns out to be a scam than this will affect all the other companies as well. This will probably only be short lived though. Once the gamblers see that the other casinos keep operating normally and are not closing down shop things should normalise again. These crisis in financial markets are soon forgotten when prices start rising again. There have been bankruptcies in the past and industry always recovered afterwards.

Quote
  - As a gambler do you use gambling sites to store your coins like what traders are doing on exchanges?

I have some money left at the casinos, but I wouldn't call it storing them there, rather this is my usual gambling bankroll I am using each month. Whenever I make a decent win than I am going to withdraw some of that money. This is not only about security reasons to not leave too much money at the casino, it's also a control for myself to not directly gamble again with the money I won. Leaving some money in the casino seems fine and you save up on the transaction fees to always deposit and withdraw every time you want to gamble.

Quote
  - What would gamblers think if a casino does not agree to show proof of money from new and old casinos

Depends on how questionable the casino really is. If the casino has been around for several years and you never had any issues in the past of withdrawing your winnings than I don't see any problem here, if the casino is very new than I would be more cautious. It also depends on what kind of customer I am. In case of being a whale who wants to deposit thousands of Dollars than it might be worth to check the financial situation first. In my sitatuion with betting only small amounts I don't think the casino would respond.
1608  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can you still win with free spins? on: November 21, 2022, 12:18:54 PM
Is it possible to stick with free spins on online casinos and still be able to make some good reward?

I don't think working alone with free spins is going to make a decent profit for you. It's always nice to get a free spins, especially now with the Christmas time approaching there will be more promotions. But these free spins are usually a bonus we can add to our regular gambling. In the past I never won anything big with free spins, there were some minor profits but nothing substantial. You could always be lucky and hit a jackpot with your free spin, that seems not so realistic though. Another thing is that there are usually conditions on withdrawing money from free spins. You might need to bet a couple of times before you are eligible to withdraw. My recommendation would be to take as many free spins as you can get, just don't rely on them to make profit. Rather look at them as bonus you can get for your usually games. I am wondering now if anybody has won big with the a free spin.
1609  Economy / Economics / Re: Can our work be turned into a full-time investment? on: November 21, 2022, 12:06:26 PM
If you were fired by the company, would you still find a job you love as quickly as possible?Or you might choose to relax your mind and look for work again after a while.
Do you have better advice for work?

Right now seems like a difficult situation to switch jobs. I would be careful to quit my current job if something new is not 100% save and makes financial sense to switch. As long as we are not being laid off and there are no concerns about the company going bankrupt I would stick with my current job and wait for a better time. In case we are getting fired than it's something completely different. It depends now if we are getting some government benefits or not. If there is some insurance for 12 months to help us find a new job than I would take that. This would be a good time to try and increase our investment and see if we coukd live of it. Without any support I would go for the next possible job. Paying bills every month is difficult with the rising prices and going straight for an investment job is no guarantee that we are going to make a profit each month.
1610  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Crypto survive? on: November 21, 2022, 09:29:19 AM

Anyone out there have words of encouragement regarding the future of crypto? Anything the future holds to look forward to?

Stay strong and believe in crypto currencies. As a 9 year veteran you should be more optimistic, right now we are just in another bear market. Crypto will survive as it has in the past. Up and down cycles are part of any financial assets and as long we are not selling at the moment we should be fine. In my opinion this is good time to buy, rather than selling any of our coins. Look forward to the world going back to normality. The war in Ukraine has to end eventually, inflation can't stay in double digit territory forever, economic growth will come back. Once we beat the recession everything is going to look much better again. In a few years people who have up on cryptos and sold all their coins will feel terrible. The long term trend for cryptos is still upwards, a few bad events are not going to change that.

1616  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you consider appearance in business and employment? on: November 19, 2022, 03:05:37 PM
Appearance makes a huge difference in any business environment where you meet face to face with clients or your boss. I worked in finance and real estate and noticed that people dress differently there. Anything related to finance always meant to wear a black or dark blue suit with a tie. Everybody was looking similar and nobody would have thought to not come dressed up, you would stand out in a bad way. In real estate everything was much more relaxed and casual, only for meetings with the lawyers people would dress up. In my opinion it makes you seem more professional and we should use good clothes for our advantage. Even now where so many meetings are done with zoom I think it's good to wear a white or light blue shirt. No need for a suit or a tie, but a shirt makes a big difference and is not so expensive to buy.

1618  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA 2022 world cup on: November 19, 2022, 08:52:24 AM
Wait a bit, why is everybody voting for Germany to reach the finals? Maybe I am missing something but I don't think Germany is that strong this year. Is majority here really putting their money on Germany? They do have to proof something after the last worldcup getting knocked out so early, but not sure how far they are going to go. Why is France or Brasil not in your list? They have much higher chance to reach the finals than Germany, Spain or England. As for England and Germany they seem pretty equal at the moment as they played a tie in their last two matches against each other, I think their chances to reach the finals are equal.
I worry a bit about the whole worldcup with the first match of Qatar against Ecuador, what happens if the match will be a 1-0 for Qatar? Is this going to be proof that Qatar bought the win by bribing players and what is going to happen aftwards. Can Qatar be kicked out of it’s own worldcup or is betting on the matches not valid anymore? So far there a lot of bad news coming out for the worldcup.

If good news coming then price should follow instantly.
When there is good news i go Long position been waiting all day long and nothing.
[/quote]

What good news are you referring to, did I miss something this week? After the FTX bankruptcy I don't think we have a lot of good news happening. Buying right now is not a bad idea, the prices are very low right now for Bitcoins and most alt coins. The problem is that we don't know when prices are going to rise again. In my opinion it's not the right time to expect big price increases. It sounds a bit like you expect to prices rise to 25k USD again based on one or two good news? There is a lot of anxiety in the market right now and investors are cautious to see what is going to happen. Hopefully you didn't use leverage for your positions so you don't get knocked out too early. With the high volatility in the market right now we need to be more defensive and not expect a new trend in a single day. The year is almost over, christmas is around the corner and investors don't to finish the year in the deep red, better to be a bit defensive right now.
1620  Economy / Gambling / Re: Crypto raffle game idea | feedback required on: November 19, 2022, 08:16:58 AM

60% of all tickets sales is going to the prize

and 30% for the operation cost, signature campaigns , affiliates , servers , ads etc

I like your idea of donating some of the money to a charity. We are living in very difficult times right now and if we have spare money for gambling it should be okay to give some of that money away. Taking 10% out of the winnings shouldn't be a big deal, we will happy enough to actually win and make a profit no matter what. Also 10% can lead to a decent amount when the raffle becomes big with many participants. What I don't like is that you want to use 30% for operating costs and advertising. That seems way too much in my opinion. Are there really so many costs involved in running a small raffle? I would rather have less advertising and pay more money back to the gamblers. There are already a lot of raffles out there and the best way to distinguish from the would be to have the lowest house edge or the best winning chances. Maybe start smaller to first get some customers and once there is enough demand you could still increase the whole operation.
