What's the difference in x pool and z pool?

So sh*t 7,000 KNC Titans can't mine LTC anymore and are the ONLY ASIC's that CAN mine Scrypt-N....hmmm

seems to me someone should revive some Scrypt-N coins pronto! It may not work..but damn, it would be LIVELY!

Yep...price is pumping so now it it time to BRING OUT THE FUD!

2563  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][OFFICIAL] Garlicoin - Reddit's Garlic Bread Worshiping Currency on: May 06, 2018, 04:25:03 AM
Are you changing the Algo from Allium to scrypt-N ?
If not good bye coin....

YES OR NOT ?

Allium is superior algo, only reason for a change back is for those with asics.

Well, there could be a case made for 7,000 KNC Titans (the only ASIC's that can do scrypt-N) coming back to garlicoin on an algo change back

to scrypt-N...something to be said about that many "ASIC Cheerleaders" pumping the volume and such of your coin......(they would be damn

motivated....would be pretty much the ONLY thing they could mine..if scrypt-N had stayed the default.....volume/in and out for paying electric etc

not sure it would work...but it would dang sure be 'lively' indeed....

Garlicoin needs a 'hook' besides we are cute and a meme coin..just saying...

also, I don't believe there are any other coins that even use the current Garlicoin algo....so no action there either....

anyway, my 2c worth (what do I know at one time I drank the BFL kool-aid)....

2564  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain Launches the New Antminer B3 Miner on: May 06, 2018, 04:19:12 AM
Has anyone had any luck on Antpool with BTM, yet?  I have emailed them several times (even with FB messenger)...crickets.

I dont think they work on weekends. Wait Monday.

I'm on the sidelines..I did not get a unit...but NO ONE is mining, because of NO pools (and weekend) really?

or is it just Antpool?

If so, I hope you guys ROI on these...I just could not 'man up', being Bitmain and all...

(I may be out of anything big anymore, miner wise, and sit on my BTC and Altcoin hoard....and maybe, maybe, a couple miners in the basement...

probably for the best...I liked being a 'hobby' miner.....mostly the last 1/2 year I feel like I'm just being 'played' by Bitmain...getting old...)

But really, I hope it works out on the B3....we need a WIN of any ASIC flavor for the little guy....IMHO...

@searing you must be happy again atm hope you ll get some profit lately you ve been crying a lot  Smiley  Wink  Wink  Wink

Sorry, but with the 'supposed' best scrypt-pow miner and fastest at 500mh and 800watts....Bitmain unit...well, getting $1.39 a day at the

low AFTER electric...this is at a $180 LTC price....anyway $1.39 LTC, was NOT an enjoyable experience...

We are in better shape, not out of the woods yet, but as of this moment I get below at $2.39 per day vs my low of $1.39 a day!

24 hours   0.02821928 LTC   5.08 USD   2.69 USD   2.39 USD
7 days   0.19753499 LTC   35.56 USD   18.82 USD   16.74 USD
30 days   0.84657854 LTC   152.38 USD   80.64 USD   71.74 USD

STILL, need at least 200 USD for LTC IMHO, just to keep everything above the difficulty rise...lots of new equipment...

I figure we need to STAY above $200 bucks for LTC, JUST to stay above $2 coin...with the further difficulty rises in the short term

but yeah, was panic'ing like a 12-year-old child at $1.39 for an L3+ or 69c a day for an L3!

ugly, ugly, indeed

the NIGHTMARE scenario is that difficulty outstrips the ability of an L3+ to keep running. Not talking, buying just running! This could

well be in doubt, IF Bitmain tosses out new equip (rumor) at 1.5gh and 400 watts and mines it all summer, as is how they usually do stuff,

before eventual 'consumers' get the units in the fall of 2018. Thus the nightmare scenario is EVERYONE is 'just out of reach' in mining LTC, or

indeed likely any scrypt-pow coin...and ALL scrypt-pow shifts to Bitmain Data Halls and the need at that *unlikely if scary* point of time

where the choice is to STOP MINING everything but the new consumer product of above (pre-order per usual) in the Fall of 2018...

The old, we missed it by 'this much' ...would be an ugly choice, if the only thing worth mining is to say a new Bitmain unit in the fall at 1.5gh

and 400 watts, while watching Bitmain drive difficulty (and all other scrypt-pow Bitmain units) into the dirt as NON-viable. So your choice

would get out of scrypt-pow mining, even at a 'hobby' one unit level OR buy from Bitmain with a pre-order for a better (only) say 1.5gh

400-watt NEW miner ...ie start over...

not attractive, not likely, but very, very ugly choice wise

less likely now at $2.39 LTC....looking kinda likely at $1.39 LTC a couple weeks ago or so...

(shudder, scared self)

This is the trouble WITH A MONOPOLY, as Bitmain has, they could mess up, and actually be the ONLY ones that could run scrypt-pow at a profit

all summer, don't think that is what they want, but monopolies tend to 'eat their own young' and 'sometimes self-destruct with greed' so they

could mess up and ONLY have themselves to blame...again now they are being cute and consumers are paying for R&D for new stuff etc, they

could find themselves as their ONLY customer, which likely they don't want...so ugly for us and them and all...If the price of LTC, does not keep pace at

least somewhat with difficulty (or as I like to say Bitmain's toaster out the door policy...of 'consume mass quantities business model!

So yeah, the current way Bitmain plays it ...we buy e provide income for R&D etc, on our 'pre-orders' they can hedge their bets on new ASIC's

if that was to break down....where ONLY they could mine the stuff or get the new miners with any certainty of profit...the whole 'neato' Bitmain

profit model would not stop, but slow down quite a bit, IMHO

Anyway, what to I know, at one time I drank the BFL kool-aid....but a world where L3+'s can't make it anymore....and another round of new

miners for scrypt-pow is the only option, well, I saw that when BTC mining went pretty far afield from 'home mining' in 2013.....

Again, unlikely but was a real scenario at the current difficulty and $1.39 LTC per L3+ per day, after electric, a couple weeks ago!

(again, I know zip, but if you see enough 'train wrecks' you, think you know what you are talking about and get, more than a bit skittish) Smiley

2566  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Launching the Antminer L3+, World's Most Powerful and Efficient Litecoin Miner on: May 06, 2018, 01:38:49 AM
Just fired up my L3++ that came last night.  I as many figured it would just be the L3+ overclocked, but decided to buy one for science so that I could report back.  Here is what I found:

  • Hardware Version: 1.0.1.3 - This is the same as other recent L3+ machines I've gotten.  I have one L3+ from an early batch which was at 1.0.1.1
  • Frequency: 450
  • Chip Temps - Out of the box I'm seeing temps at 68-69.  Other recent L3+ machines I've gotten I have at 438, those are running at 56-59.
  • Hash Rate - Have only been running for 30 minutes, but it's current average is 584.54, other recent machines I've gotten are at 570@438
  • Fan Speed - I haven't adjusted fan's on either box.  I noticed that the new L3++ was at 3,300 and the newer L3+ is at 4,230
  • Power At Wall - Sorry, I am not currently measuring this.

In summary, I think people's suspicions were correct.  I think I just paid 506 (606 - 100 coupon) for the same box I got for 262 (462 - 200 coupon) for a while back.

here is an open source firmware fix that likely does the same thing as Bitmain did to overclock (slightly) the 'supposed' L3++

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3546316.0

I don't code..but to my untrained eye....looks like a person could compare the L3++ with this freeware firmware (above thread) and 'tweak'

(without a lot of risks) your L3+ to be around these new L3++ factory out of the box specs...

I leave this to better minds than myself, but figured the threads could be useful for something like this ..to those MORE in the know than me!

(ie everybody)

A guy below (see thread) tried to look at the 'supposed' L3++ that bitmain has...and looks like to me (no expert) it is just an overclocked

L3+ with your kind of trick with the firmware (I don't code please correct me if wrong)

Anyway, link to what he has found out on his L3++ so far

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1864920.msg36382669#msg36382669

Be nice to cross confirm that L3++ is just a 'lightly' overclocked L3+ and that we can do the same with little risk with your firmware as well

I'll leave this to folk smarter than me on this kinda thing...but figured you'd like the above link

Are you changing the Algo from Allium to scrypt-N ?
If not good bye coin....

YES OR NOT ?

they already changed it from scrypt-N to allium...they likely ARE NOT going to change it back to scrypt-N....

(they probably should, a crapload of KNC Titan's just shut off as LTC ..the last hurrah...is not making enough to keep them on anymore)

So yeah, they should blend the two algos or go back to scrypt-N...but again, it is not gonna happen....bet on that....

2569  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain launches the Z9 Equihash miner on: May 04, 2018, 08:16:26 PM
something is just odd about this. let me elaborate.

the E3 is priced at 2000-2400. it mines like a 6 card rig and costs about the same as one

this new z9 is like 12 grand in GPUs but only priced at 2k? if bitmain sold 12k in gpu's they would be asking at least 9-10k for it

sooo what gives? are they just expecting a fork? at current this thing is what? a 45 day ROI which is something i have never seen since i have been in crypto. did this ever exist years back?

the price to performance just seems out of line

sigh...why do people never learn. Bitmain is not pricing this based on what a single unit on the current network could mine, nor should you ever figure out your earnings on any new miner based on that.

As a rule of thumb, take bitmains X new miner, multiply the hashrate by 10,000 units (which is their typical batch size), add that hashrate to the current network and assume thats what you will be earning on day 1.

Lol these fewls are like robots, every new asic they flock too , only to be disappointed, As a rule of thumb like jstefanop says , plan on making back the cost of the miner in 2-3 months , after that you can only pray they do not release new batches
too fast, but knowing their greed and MO , thats a false hope.  Yeah you will probably make a few pennies and pay off the gear

but what you are doing is feeding them more money on top of the fact these same chips you are getting in june have been crushing millions of dollars worth of equihash since november 2017 ,  they are only selling them to you fewls since they
are near end of life for Bitmain.  Thier private farms are running the Z3 full miners, probbaly 40ksols at 500 watts.

Have at it idiots lol

The only thing I've seen on getting the latest ASIC's this year is that IF you get on the FIRST batch of a NEW Algo miner from Bitmain you have a 50/50 chance

of ROI......if the Bitmain unit crypto already is past the first batch...your odds IMHO, go down to 1 out of 5 .depending on your arrival date/batch/elec costs/etc

pretty sucky odds....I've stopped playing for now...getting any ASIC of any flavor from Bitmain (90% market share or more) for any gimmick algo...flooding the market

as a Bitmain monopoly is not really going to help any of these coins in the long run, in that Bitmain ALWAYS shoots them out like toasters...

usually after pre-mining them months ahead of the consumer release, to joe public.......I don't see a good ending or 'soft landing' in any of these cases..just saying...

Also, a lot of the devs of this various new algo's on these new algo machines, with the reflex by the devs of such, who are 'forking coin' so ASIC's can't work...

literally 'doorstops' on arrival from Bitmain or within months....no ROI...this is especially becoming dire with scrypt-pow units out like toasters (difficulty vs coin price)

and may end badly for say, LTC price in the future...when this pow-scrypt reality, and Bitmain games, come home to roost...(Yeah, I'm not a happy camper on

the sidelines watching this)

anyway, my take...why I'm sitting on hands not getting anything more this year (got 6 dubious L3+'s maybe I'll break even with vs taxes paid.but its a stretch)

This unit is going to have the same problems as all the other units Bitmain is dumping out in the world....a lot of folks MAY be left holding the bag vs holding coin...

2570  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Litecoin - a lite version of Bitcoin. Launched! on: May 04, 2018, 08:01:19 PM
For everyone on this thread. Understanding WHY we badly need a pump from LTC pow-scrypt
mining point of view. Indeed, IMHO, $200 LTC at this point in time, will barely keep the boat
afloat...anyway, an aside on why LTC really, really, needs to pump from miner viewpoint..not just
making $$$..IMHO, the scrypt-pow network is going to drag price down, if this keeps trending as is....

This is for ONE L3+ 500mh at 800w (data hall situated) and current $162.50 LTC

The unit makes $1.90 USD AFTER electric costs...PER DAY! Sad

24 hours   0.02821928 LTC   4.59 USD   2.69 USD   1.90 USD
7 days   0.19753499 LTC   32.11 USD   18.82 USD   13.29 USD
30 days   0.84657854 LTC   137.61 USD   80.64 USD   56.97 USD

the above is the price in LTC per day for a Bitmain L3+ unit (newest pow-scrypt) out there...

just a reminder that when LTC is not keeping up with folk getting new miners (even if it is Bitmain monopoly ones) that never

bodes well for LTC price in the future....so when folk say, that we need $200 buck price as soon as possible ..it is not hyperbole

if price vs difficulty on pow-scrypt does NOT keep up ..then you will have a stagnant coin here soon, price wise that is...

my take on this since mining LTC from Nov 8th, 2014...It also does not help that BCH is stealing out 'low fee transaction' thunder

..undeservedly IMHO, but there you are...So anyway, keep this in mind when folk are saying LTC has to PUMP...from a pow-scrypt

mining point of view..it has to happen soon or difficulty will outstrip mining and LTC will suffer (IMHO) ... just a cautious aside on all

this 'pump' mania...the price (again IMHO) is getting too damn low to justify mining LTC if this trendline on price vs difficulty continues

anyway, chime in, how I have seen stuff like this go since mining LTC from Nov 8th 2014.....my take on LTC due to its scrypt-pow miner nature...

People are selling batch 2 Obelisk miners for less than the new batch price (and you'll receive them sooner, too) on the Discord channel.

I should do this...but they are MY doorstops damn it......(er wait ...that is the 5 obelisk sc-1 siacoin miners.....)

er...nevermind...I'm getting my ONE decred miner (August? 2018) 2nd batch? for FREE...or/er/well for 4 800 buck 1/2 off coupons...and the other $800 covered

(tried to talk my buddy out of it ..but he is a whale and got like 15 decred miners so WTF...no one listens to me...)

So, for once I may actually KNOW I can ROI on an ASIC unit of some kind! Just have to beat $1 over the electric cost!

(Dare to Dream!) ...er but than again...I have 5 obelisk doorstops...so meh! Sad

If the solution to global warming was "oh shit, looks like we'll need to shut down governments and implement anarcho-capitalism to save the planet"...then I might be more inclined to believe the scientists that are paid by the government.

When the solution to global warming (science funded by governments) is "we need to give more power to governments" makes a fella go...hmmm...

the worst climate change possibilities may be much much worse...if methane as below gets released....much worse than carbon dioxide for climate change

https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/arctic-methane-release-could-cost-60t/ Arctic melting would really dump methane into the atmosphere...

On any 'public' issue I am always skeptical of the 'we will lose money' argument for NO policy change....or long-term fix..planning..it..leads (to me) the current society 'blinders' of...we can do a 'short-term' fix someday....for any problem..social/economic/finance etc...eventually....kicking the can down the road is gonna hit a wall...just my rule of thumb on common social issues...

no hard choices...to me...means harder choices in the future ...with likely 'less time' and 'resources' to do so...

At least I passed on those L3++'s

Reality sucks right now with an L3+...too much drama!

Well, I'm making on my miners with elec/data hall rent etc exactly $1.89 a day FML!

24 hours   0.02819964 LTC   4.58 USD   2.69 USD   1.89 USD
7 days   0.19739749 LTC   32.08 USD   18.82 USD   13.26 USD
30 days   0.84598923 LTC   137.47 USD   80.64 USD   56.83 USD

Yep, living the dream! (sob.....) Sad

You are using a hosting site correct?

yeah...this is next years rates month to month...I pay probably 1c more a kWh than I should (real data hall) but my buddy does ALL  the work....and I mean ALL the work
so figure it is fair to have a complete on-site fix available w/o the wait of 2 days or whatever with other data hall help

again, every summer it goes up at LEAST 1c kWh...even my residential for the past 3-4 years goes up every summer 1c kWh...must be great to be an elec utility monopoly

my residential is mainly going up DUE TO SOLAR indeed..with community solar farm and the rest...less folk using the traditional elec utility...thus they raise price....sheesh

can't talk the CPA in saying SOLAR on the house is for MINING....I'd mine USED CRAP to be able to pull that off....that was 'too cute' in her words...on the other hand

I could get my 100 amp service upgraded to 200 amps by keeping my miners in the basement (pictures for IRS in files) that may fly...having 100% of a 200 amp service

upgrade off my gross mining income ...like mining equipment MAY be my last hurrah...if I can't hack mining by August or some such...

well, right now my 16 L3+ equiv hash at the data hall is getting $1.77 per day ...damn I hate LTC difficulty!

yep, this circus...may be all over by August for me...if the bitmain 'toaster rate' of miners keeps up Sad

It will be 'soothing' to go back and be a hobby miners with only 3 or 4 miners in the basement at most......bitmain too much drama .....punt and sit on hoard may be wise Smiley

makes sense if as most of us suspect the L3++ is just an 'already overclocked' L3+..then all the problems above and flakiness makes perfect sense....another Bitmain gimmick

that has likely come to light Smiley Just my view...but when we tried overclocking...seems to be the same symptoms...so went back to L3+ baseline

why you want to doorstop? why You thing this is a good idea?

Well, last year when i was mining and making money hand over fist (July 2017) it seemed like a good idea...at my tax rate (what I'd pay tax man) and the 25%
equip deduction off taxes to be paid (instead of 5 years it is 1 year) ...I figured I'd need to make about 40% back over electric to 'break even' kinda/sort on the previous.

NOW ..it is really, really a DUMB idea to get an Sc-1 siacoin unit..what are they on BATCH 5 and they have shipped nothing yet?

12k isnt the price, its around 2000/2500 usd

2580  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Litecoin - a lite version of Bitcoin. Launched! on: May 03, 2018, 06:15:22 AM
The problem is that all the positive news for Litecoin came while the market was taking a serious dive and the positive news from LTC alone couldn't change the entire cryptomarket.  So now that all the positive news for this coin has already come and gone, no one wants to buy it because there doesn't appear to be anything positive in the works anymore. We can all likely recall Charlie's checklist of things to come. More and more got marked off the list and it did nothing for the coin, because the whole market was tanking. If we would have seen the same news last week we would have likely been sitting a lot further up the chart than we are now.

The main thing that has Litecoin is absolute liquidity in the crypto world: ATMs, exchanges and other services - LTC is already present everywhere. So this coin doesn't need to prove its potential with help hype.

Well, I hit a 'snag' with Coinbase's swift card that supposedly acts as a DEBIT card, and such...no fees for a bit of time also..my state MINNESOTA ..is not on the list yet....(likely,
has little to do with Minnesota and more to do we don't have all that many people)

so hard to move LTC when such a debit card is NOT allowed by the 'powers that be' in your state...

(From what I understand as another example, Hawaii does NOT allow coinbase and more than a few others)

anyway, here is the coinbase link to see if such a card is allowed in your state yet
