Whatever dumbassery there is in the legacy media, at least it is very clear that they are still talking about Bitcoin.

Certainly not Ethereum, not Vitalik walking zombie deep eye socket man, not BNB, not Solana and not bearded ape asswiped NFTs.

Other "cryptos" are not even worth mentioning here as they are bound to fall off the radar in a few years whichever position they currently enjoy on coinmarketcap.

Most never even regained their previous highs whilst we have seen BTC's new ATHs. At what point is it not clear to people that they are shitcoins?

Just because it is a shitcoin does not mean it has absolutely no use. You can leverage Bitcoin to short shitcoins and make more Bitcoin Tongue. When exiting your position you can figuratively feel the frustration and confusion of shitcoin investors who still have not realized that whenever Bitcoin goes down, shitcoins go down even harder. And shitcoins always go down except during bull markets when they get to ride daddy Bitcoin's coat tails. And if the shitcoiner gets lucky, they own whichever shitcoin is getting pumped on that day(Which totally is not just the devs trying to make their shitcoin look popular, I mean, who would do that? Roll Eyes).

No shit coin should be purchased or traded for.

Mining them at a profit and quickly converting to btc is the only way to deal with shit coins.

Mining is far less risky as you trade for Bitcoin asap.

But technically that is leveraging as well. Lets say you mine the shitcoin. You still have costs to pay, maybe even have to buy new miners. You pay in Bitcoin and mine shitcoins. So you are already invested in shitcoins for a short while and then you trade them in for Bitcoin. This can go tits up as well, if the price of that shitcoin falls down to 0 and you have not sold them yet. Luna showed us how quickly that can happen. I mean, you are still left standing with the costs.
I agree with you on one thing: Shitcoins should be avoided.

263  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul to Fight Mike Tyson in Live Netflix Boxing Event - July 20 on: March 11, 2024, 04:36:15 PM
This fight is going to have an obvious outcome. Roll Eyes

Mike is already 57 and Jake Paul is still a young man who pretends like he is a good boxxer. I do not think that putting Jake Paul to fight Mike Tyson is a good idea. Obviously Paul is going to get not only demolished but humbled. Can't wait to see the fight.

Since it is a Netflix event, I hope that this is not just some publicity stunt. Netflix seems to think marketing is more important than content nowadays.   Undecided

266  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Blackrock control BTC? on: March 11, 2024, 03:44:49 AM
Hey guys how y'all enjoying this bull run? So something got me thinking after reading this news about Blackrock filing to get more BTC for their Global Allocation Fund.
Y'all can read the news here, it's a minute or 2 minute read: https://cointelegraph.com/news/blackrock-buy-spot-bitcoin-etf-global-allocation-fund

I mean, the funds coming from ETFs are really showing its worth. I can see the excitement on everyone's faces that bought BTC. I also have benefited a lot from it, engaged in different events like the Welcome to bull run on Bitget, some farming airdrops on Binance and many more.

But then again, do you think this might back fire on us in the longer term? We all know what these men are all after is to be in control and that's why BTC came into reality cancelling all that making everyone their own Government of their assets.

The worst that Blackrock can do to Bitcoin is to sell their bags. That would drag the price down hard, but Bitcoin would bounce back in a short time. The ones who would be tragically affected would be the people who bought their ETFs. But such a scenario is unlikely. Possible, but unlikely.

The faith in Bitcoin might take a hit too, so there might be a crypto winter if something happens to the other institutions.

But even if all that were to happen, I still would not sell my bitcoin for fiat.  Grin

Not sure if anyone mentioned BISQ. Unlike localbitcoins it is decentralized and without KYC.

Yeah I am in Germany. Holding for 10+ years. After 1 year of holding its tax free (they wanna change this). But I don’t know how it is when I convert bitcoin into USDT and then later in euro if I wanna cash out fiat. Or buy back.

So I set a sell order at 69k. Doesn’t feel right. But at some point you have to let your kids go.

Why not just sell and buy again? That way no tax on that 'initial' investment sum later, if the law changes.

If you convert to USDT, it still counts the same as if you cashed out. The 1 year law only allows back and forth transactions between wallets that you provably own.
271  Economy / Gambling / Re: Share trusted VPN Friendly crypto casinos on: March 09, 2024, 04:40:57 PM
I do not think that there are any legitimate and regulated casinos which are VPN friendly. And as others in this thread have already written; any casino can change their TOS at any time and you would probably be caught unaware. It is a better idea to rather not use a VPN.

It has something to do with laws that the casinos have to follow. AML is a big one. Otherwise any casino could launder money from some anonymous people at any time. That would not work.
Casino sites have already made kyc very easy. Sites without kyc can gamble using a fixed amount. so I don't think there is any need to use vpn either. there is a fear of account blocking if you use vpn so it is better to use sites without using vpn. Since gambling is not officially legal in my country it is very difficult to access casino sites in my country but I can use the reputable casino sites on this forum without vpn. Some sites do not work with sim ip but through isp connection is running smoothly

In my experience, as well as in the experience of other veteran Bitcointalk gamblers over the years, KYC is never easy, as you claim, because of the sheer number of people that they have to check. It can take a long time to check them all. Doing KYC before depositing funds will save you a headache...
Sorry but I will have to also agree that in the current settings technologically, kyc have become much more easier, as even now, we have what is called or referred to as Ai kyc system, where the user submits his requested documents for kyc verification, and a trained Ai takes the document, scan through it and immediately, under a minute or two, verify your account after it has also scanned your face through your camera and match it with the face on your provided document, this is literally one of the fastest kyc system and one no longer have to submit document, and wait until a customer representative comes around to look at the document, look at your video recording or selfie before either marking your kyc as successful or not.

I do vouch the presence of such kyc system in all the online casinos at the moment, but let's believe that as time goes on, more and more casinos will implement the Ai kyc system for a faster, efficient and seamless customer kyc verification.

And I also agree with you on your last words, for even now, I would still suggest that gamblers do not wait until the casino ask them to verify their account, maybe in the middle of a pending withdrawal or so, looks like some casinos deliberately makes passing kyc at this stage more difficult, than when the player just decides on his or her own to submit his documents for account verification.

Really? They are allowed to let AI inspect the ID now? For some reason, I had always thought there were regulations against that.... Ok I guess it is easy.
272  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many satoshis are there per person in the world? on: March 09, 2024, 04:15:24 AM
here is a better thought experiment for you. to then use as a primer to then engineer a better "how many bitcoin per person" scenario

everyone thinks USdollar is the world leading currency of the world
but how many people of the world actually use and hoard USdollar

its not 8billion
its not 800m
its more like 400m (majority are just the americans 335m)

so dont use a 'if everyone had bitcoin how many sats would they equally get if shared equally'..
but instead assume a 5% of population (400m of 8billion pop)

so lets use 400m as a fair number.. (seeing as if you add up the published revelations of user accounts totals on exchanges is nearly getting to that number already)

19.4m  btc / 400m pop = 0.0485btc per person as a reasonable hoard per population
if you own more then this 0.0485btc level of btc. consider yourself ahead of the game (better than the average)

Or, an interesting idea if you view it from the perspective of world wealth instead of people: If Bitcoin becomes the global currency, 454.4 Trillion USD (net world wealth) converted into Bitcoin market cap would be over 21.6 million USD per Bitcoin. And after that, the value of each Satoshi keeps going up because of population growth.
273  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 09, 2024, 03:58:51 AM
We need to redefine what selling means. "Cashing out" or "taking profit" sounds too positive when what they are really doing is jumping back into a sinking boat called fiat.

OT: anybody in favor of Sub-Zero fridge? The darned thing is $13.8K around here, lol.
My better half is following btc chart now and it makes her "excite", as Borat would say.
To me, any fridge is a good fridge....

I've worked on a few houses with people that had one. Yeah, they look impressive enough but to me, a fridge is a fridge. I'd rather spend it on a car or keep it in BTC haha. But you know the saying... happy wife, happy life :p

Fridge? Car? They're both just machines.

I find it amusing that some people actually get personally attached to machines.

yep. objectophilia in extreme cases

277  Economy / Economics / Re: When luxury becomes a necessity. on: March 08, 2024, 09:08:51 PM
You know, there are people that look at certain things and they just conclude that because it's luxurious and expensive, it's not there thing at all. I once had that kind of mindset but with time I have learned that luxury could even make you more productive.

There are environment you will be exposed to and things you will use that will totally revamp your idea on wealth and aid you to work more effectively. As long as the luxurious stuff you're purchasing aids you to become more productive and comfortable, nothing should be too expensive to be bought for your comfort.

I've purchased a Mac laptop that's way expensive than the average laptops I could easily get but because I needed what will work well for the kind of job I do, I had to buy it and I must say that the fulfillment out ways the negative thought of not to purchasing it.

That's one factor that lead me to always go for high quality and luxurious stuff after that moment.

Have you bought something that people feel is rather too expensive and that you could have purchased a lower version of it? What was your inexperience like after that?

I think all things which were luxury will become commonplace in the near-future. Look at automobiles, healthcare, vacations, certain foods and so on... Everything is only getting better and more accessible to ordinary people. Such people would have been called peasants, had they lived in the past. But compared to the peasants from those times, people live like kings and queens now.

That is a good thing. And also the reason why I do not buy the newest stuff but rather wait 2-3 years and then buy it at half price or lower.

Thats the way things have always been. I like to think it is a sign that humanity is always growing into something better than before.
278  Economy / Gambling / Re: My betting strategies on: March 08, 2024, 08:39:49 PM
I know everyone has their own strategy and somehow most people can be using same strategy that I am about to share here.
The strategies includes:

1. Club position: most times the position of a club matters a lot because it tells you whether a club is striving to top the table or whether they are striving to leave relegation zone.

2. Point: This is another strategy i use while betting because it also tells you whether a club can or will loss a match or not,  sometimes a club can be topping a league with 8 -10 point difference and because of this point difference they can decide to play anyhow they want better still reserve players for more important match because whether they loss or win they are still topping the league.
However, a club that has this point difference,  let say they are  expecting a champions league quarter or semi finals, it is very possible that they can loss or draw their league by reserving  players for the upcoming champions league.

3. Head to head: a club head to head (history)  is very important because sometimes it could be that the people topping the league always loss or draw with the people fighting to go out of relegation.  No matter how form the people topping the league is the possibility or chance of losing the match is 80% because of their history that's why sometimes you see a big club always losing to a small club.
These are mine strategies and there are some i can't remember for now, try this and thank me later.

Just so that people know,  it seems that this topic pertains only to football games. It would have been better to clarify that in your first post. The strategies might not work with other games and they may not work at all, for any games.

Personally, strategies in gambling don't work except maybe for certain sports.

280  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Indirect victims of gambling addiction on: March 07, 2024, 10:45:22 PM
Hi community,

As with any addiction, the effects of addiction to games of chance and betting do not fall on the gambler alone. It affects the family, friends, relatives, and everyone around him, and may lead to the deterioration of their conditions.

It negatively affects social relationships and at the marital level. Pathological gambling can be described as a side relationship. The gambler invests his attention in gambling at the expense of the spouse, whom he sometimes repays to cover his infidelity. The marital relationship is destabilized against a background of lack of trust, helplessness, and anxiety about what will happen in the future.

Gambling and accumulated debts  lead the gambler to a moral collapse that may even amount to an existential threat to family members. Gamblers do not hesitate to sell property to finance their debts, take loans from relatives without any ability to repay the debts, and in extreme cases they may even physically harm family members.

Partners in dependency - Relatives often try to "understand" the addict and help him, by paying off his debts, while accepting his promise to stop gambling, a promise he is unable to keep. More than once, family members come to the aid process, becoming partners so that they become “addicted” to the therapeutic process. But help works in exactly the opposite direction instead of helping the gambler wean off, they perpetuate his condition. These partners, such as parents or spouses, may find themselves in great distress that requires treatment.

Of course, there are many indirect victims of gambling addiction. Can you add more?

I could add one more: Kids who grow up with gambling addicts think that gambling is a normal, everyday thing. And then the family might even break apart because of said gambling addiction.

Honestly I think the same negatives go for gambling addiction just as they would for any other addiction. Addiction is always some kind of negative to somebodies happiness and that "vacuum" can drain the happiness of others around them.
