1201  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is digital currency powerful? on: May 31, 2023, 08:53:41 PM
Compared to fiat currency, Digital currencies are very powerful in-terms of control. You can control your own coin. There is no interference from the government, no one can rob it or counterfeit it. You can use it globally and expand your business internationally. I don't find anything more powerful than this! what is your thoughts on it !

No interference? The governments are doing all they can to slow down Bitcoin adoption, on behalf of the banks, of course... A money that does not require a third party to store and secure it? Thats unacceptable to them. The government wants to control our money and the banks want demand arbitrary fees for holding on to our money. This old system needs to be overhauled.

And blockchain is an unstoppable, unregulatable and unchained technology. Ironically named Blockchain Roll Eyes
1202  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Today I Have Shared About The Benefits Of Bitcoin With My Friends on: May 31, 2023, 07:43:43 PM
It's really very necessary to know by our relatives about Bitcoin because I believe that we all know about Bitcoin and it's usecases. So it's our duty to teach about Cryptocurrencies specially Bitcoin so that they can also use it and be a part of this Digital Currency. In this purpose Today I have shared with some of my close departmental Friend's about Bitcoin and the benefits of it. I have tried as much as I can because I think they should be familiar with this gem and the future of currency system. I have shared some points about Bitcoin. They are :

1. Bitcoin Is Decentralized: I have shared with them that is is a decentralized cryptocurrency which is transferred from Peer to Peer. There is no middle man in Bitcoin transection and it's fully Safe. If you use non custodial wallet then your funds have no access without you.

2. Anonymous Transection: Every Bitcoin transection are normally fast and anonymous. It's very secured also. No need to submit personal or sensitive details at all. It has a limited supply which is 21 Million only. So day by day it's price and demand will increase because no new Bitcoin can be created.

3. Can Gain Huge Returs : I have also shared that you can make huge profits by buying and holding it. But you have to buy when it's price is cheap and it's very easy to use. You just need to have an internet connection only which may be a limitations too. I also told about it's volatility but assured them if you buy at cheap at the end of the day you will win surely.

I tried to teach them the trust about Bitcoin and they are really excited to learn more and some of them promised me that soon they will be a part of this Digital Currency though the amount is low.
I just welcomed them and I am also trying to teach about Bitcoin with my family soon.
I think we should teach our friends families and neighbors about the Cryptocurrencies specially Bitcoin. So that they can use it and be an early adopter.

Edit: I told them that the total Bitcoin is only 21 Million and no Bitcoin can be created so the total Bitcoin is limited. So day by day people are involving and filling their bags and also because of its usecases day by day the demand of Btc will increase. And also told that will be more beneficial financially if they can inter in the market at right time. They also agreed with me.

I would have to disagree with the premise of anonymity. Bitcoin is only anonymous as long as nobody can connect your transaction with your actual identity or your personal IP address. Once somebody knows where the Bitcoin goes (Everybody knows, since Bitcoin transactions are on a public ledger) then its only a matter of finding out who is sending or receiving the coin. If you pay/buy/sell/loan Bitcoin, you need to make sure that anything that can be used to trace your coin to you, will be used as such, in case someone wants to look for you.

Fiat is much more anonymous than Bitcoin and therefore much more suited to criminal activities. Bitcoin is transparent and public.
1203  Economy / Gambling / Re: is KYC data on Gambling sites safe? on: May 31, 2023, 07:35:27 PM
As we know, many gambling sites have Kyc requirements when making withdrawals. Some people may not have a problem with this condition, but some people think differently about doing Kyc. Some people refuse to fill in their Kyc data for fear of being misused. That's a natural thing, but is the worry too much?

Kyc actually has a function to prevent dangerous actions, such as money laundering. In addition, Kyc can also protect customers from account breakers.

Now there are several gambling sites that do not require Kyc to withdraw funds. That's good news. But I don't know if big money withdrawal need Kyc or not. I've never withdrawn much money.

Are you one of those who agree or refuse to fill out kyc on gambling sites? So far, the Kyc that you have filled in on the gambling site is safe? I've never had a problem with the Kyc that I filled out at the gambling site. Have you ever felt cheated from Kyc submitted?

No. Submitting KYC is never 100% safe. Even if the platform is extremely trustworthy.

All that data is stored, therefore it can be hacked and recovered by bad actors.

While I completely understand and sympathize with the regulatory and legal situation which is being forced upon centralized platforms like online gambling crypt casinos or crypto exchanges, I am absolutely against the very notion of KYC.

A few hackers is all it takes and that data goes into the dark web, where people will use your identity to cause you financial and social damage beyond repair. Identity thieves know how to use your data to make money and they do not care about anything.

1204  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 77% into the next Bitcoin halving on: May 31, 2023, 05:40:58 PM

Chart Source: https://charts.bitbo.io/halving-progress/
Real time Bitcoin halving progress shows that we are already 77% into the next Bitcoin halving. My friends are excited and have already started stacking up more Bitcoin in optimistic anticipation that when the price increases as has been predicted already that they will be able to take profits or their return on investment would be 150%. But then, no one truly knows if the price would increase or not. With the current nature of the cryptocurrency market where competition is stiff between Bitcoin and other top cryptocurrency no one knows if the demand for Bitcoin would increase which in turns increases the price. No one knows if there would be some crazy regulations somewhere that would affect the price. No one knows if some crypto firm that is already over leveraged would declare bankruptcy within that time and then Bitcoin's price doesn't rise more than 5%. We are all acting in good faith that everything would run smoothly, we'd take profits and everyone is happy in the end.

This sounds so pessimistic but haven't you thought about it like this too? The what ifs and what if nots?

The chart is very accurate. We are currently at the bear the bottom of the next pump. Anyone selling his/her Bitcoin now is going to be unpleasantly surprised and do what they always do and buy at the top, when the price starts drooping again.

The halving event (I call it the halvening - combination of having and happening Grin) gives Bitcoin a tangible and logical reason for why the price rises.  Especially if you consider the long term potential of price long after near the last Bitcoin has been mined. I think we will see prices that stretch beyond 10^6 figures before the end of this decade and the coming of the next.
1205  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: coinzino.io closes accounts and takes money from players for no reason on: May 30, 2023, 10:15:16 PM
after signing i have deposited money to coinzino.io to play the first few times i withdraw is ok but after the 3rd time i have deposited and played after winning i withdraw then they closed the account and sent an email saying suspect me of violation waiting for them to investigate. after 5 days I still have not received a response from the email, then I texted the support chat on the homepage, they said I was in violation and the account was closed and can't be reopened, I asked what violation I did and asked by proof they don't answer maybe they want to take away more than 3000$ in my account

~snip~

OP, by your evidence I have not yet seen whether or not they have a legitimate reason to ban you, and whether you have full rights to demand the full amount of deposited money back. But that being said, I did not see you write them the demand of a refund. So you might want to do that, so you have definitive proof that they refuse to refund your deposited funds.

If you want your scam accusation to be taken more seriously, then you should post it in the scam accusations subforum. However I would want to see more proof of who is in the wrong here.
1206  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is mass adoption or/and regulation more likely to reduce volatility? on: May 29, 2023, 11:57:35 PM
As we know bitcoin is one of the most trusted cryptocurrencies and is considered the pioneer in the field. It has been in existence since 2009 when it was founded by Satoshi Nakamoto.
Reports suggest that as of February 2023, there are over 40 million people who own Bitcoin. There have also been discussions about regulating Bitcoin from various sources worldwide. On the other hand, volatility is one of the most prominent features of Bitcoin.
If more people adopt Bitcoin (e.g., 200 million people) and the government succeeds in regulating Bitcoin to some extent, would it reduce its volatility?
Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes
Bitcoin is the number 1 top trusted crypocurrency. And of course it is considered the pioneer in the field because it is the... pioneer in the field.

If the government in any country had the ability and resources to regulate Bitcoin, they would have done so already. They cannot regulate Bitcoin. They can regulate centralized entities like cryptocurrency exchanges or cryptocurrency casinos. Anyone in the world can mine Bitcoin, anyone in the world can own and transact with Bitcoin. All they need is an internet connection.

The worldwide adoption is a question of when not if. The volatility will continue to exist. But that is not a bad thing, BTC may always have changes in price, due to pure speculation. The value, however, stays the same.
1207  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you been threaten to stop gambling on: May 29, 2023, 11:39:46 PM
This actually happens if there is a similar thread I'll lock this thread.

My friend invited me for a round of drinks just last night to confess something, and that is his wife threatened to leave their house and file for legal separation because the wife just discovered that he's spending a lot of time gambling, she thought that he's just playing games but she discovered his logged because the idiot has his password in the browser, so the wife check his withdrawal and voila his losing a lot of money and she also discovered that he won big money in the past but didn't tell her.

I guess that blew her patience for not telling his winning, so he threaten that he should stop gambling or they part ways, my friend choose his wife so he cannot play until he can convince his wife and promise her to tell her if he won big. Cheesy

How about you have you been threatened by your wife, your girlfriend, or your parents, if so tell us your story.

Have I ever been threatened to stop gambling? No I would say probably not. If I had, you would think I remember it.

The problems that gambling addiction can bring were never really imposed on me. Perhaps I have a gambling addiction, perhaps not. But since nobody has made an effort to stop me from gambling or telling me that there is any problem, I would have to suppose that I am fine.

Of course that does not mean that the people around me enjoy seeing me gamble. Those who oppose those kinds of things will always try to warn or dissuade you from them. But that has more to do with their beliefs and norms rather than your gambling habits.
1208  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Internet is one limitation of bitcoin on: May 29, 2023, 10:13:46 PM
This is not the problem of bitcoin, but the problem with your government that disabled internet in your country. You can use Starlink instead of relying on local service providers.

Elon Musk's Starlink finally registered in Pakistan to roll out internet services. ISLAMABAD – Elon Musk's famous satellite broadband provider Starlink has reportedly registered to operate and provide internet services in Pakistan.

Technically, if you have access to the technology and the satellite link, you can have internet anywhere in the world, without having to ask any government for their permission. If anything, does that not make the internet somewhat decentralised? I realise that not everyone has a starlink satellite dish and a ground transmitter powerful enough to broadcast to any Starlink satellite. But the possibility is there.

I think that possibility will become an affordable and simple-tech reality in the near future. And then once we have decentralized internet access, there will be no problem with Bitcoin, as OP calls it. Although I would rather call it a connectivity issue.
1209  Economy / Gambling / Re: Why do you still want to play fake web2 casinos? Why we choose web3 casinos on: May 29, 2023, 04:44:44 PM
I just want to hear your ideas so we can improve our platform. Thanks to admins, they don't like decentralization and they moved our ANN to altcoin section again.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5453737.msg62314774#msg62314774

So lets discuss here. What do you advise to improve our casino to beat unfair web2 casinos.

Obviously we need to decentralize everything that we can. Especially things that have power over our money. Web2 casinos or exchanges are all the same. They carry the risk of taking your money away whenever they wish, for whatever reason. Some are older, more known and definitely more trustworthy. But the fact that we have to have a trust scale at all seems redundant. I would rather verify than trust. And replacing trusting with verifying is exactly what web3 is for.

Unfortunately, web3 is in its baby shoes and there are no truly decentralized casino platforms just yet. Sure, many claim to be web3 but thats mostly marketing some decentralized feature. That is why web2 casinos are just as likely to freeze your funds or reject your winnings as web3 casinos are. For now, anyway. We will achieve real decentralization of casinos at some point in the future.

1212  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Garcia Vs Lara AUG 05 2023 SATURDAY WBA WORLD MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP on: May 26, 2023, 12:30:08 PM
Lara used to be known as a boring fighter but he has slowed with age and his fights have been more interesting to watch in recent years. I don't know who either of these fighters have beaten to be fighting for a world title at middleweight but I guess that is the privilege of being an Al Haymon fighter. I favor Garcia slightly due to being not as old and less washed up but I expect it to be a competitive match.

Yeah, I would say Lara has a clear disadvantage when it comes to age. I mean a 5 years gap from age 35 to age 40 is quite a leap- from a physically strong to a physically weaker body. 35 is no spring chicken as 18 but considering the official "physical prime" age for professional boxxing is from 28 years to 35 years old... That puts Garcia at the advantage in this fight.

My money is obviously not going to be on Lara. I see Garcia coming out strong. No comparison, really.

Not sure if I used the term spring chicken correctly but it'll play. Tongue
1213  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My mistake was making my involvement with Bitcoin public on: May 26, 2023, 04:32:13 AM
There is always a man in the family who believe they are the smartest, I have an uncle who is currently the most successful one in the family, maybe that's why he is behaving this way, he knew my involvement with crypto and Bitcoin, and after the crash into bear market he called me and said ..

Are you still into Bitcoin? You need to find something else to do, Bitcoin will fail soon because there is nothing that can take away the money printing machines, the government will keep printing money because they like been the printer, they can't print Bitcoin that's why it will fail, stop living a dream and do something good with your life before it's too late.

At first I got angry, because he always believe he knows the best for everyone, and I am different, I am not like my brothers that fall before his kneels every time. I replied him with this.

Why are you so into what I am doing? Why did you take this so serious than anything else? You have never showed concern about me, I have never asked you for help and you fulfill it, if Bitcoin fails it's fine for me, and Bitcoin was never created to kill Fiat in the first place, it was created to support people like me, because no one wants to support people like us but they want to pretend they do.. Fiat is Centralized and Bitcoin is Decentralized, it's for the people and the community, it's freedom and a perfect home 🏠. I can't hate something that have helps me so many times uncle.

Have I said something too harsh? He took this personal and report me to my eldest brother, my brother said I shouldn't mind, he doesn't know that my brother is now also a Bitcoin investor, my mistake was making it public, which my brother never did.

If you are still planning to get into Bitcoin, don't post anything about it in family group chat or on your WhatsApp status, this was my biggest mistake.

I personally believe that keeping quiet about your finances and investments is a good idea but in the case of Bitcoin, people need to know. Not everyone has someone in their family to educate them about Bitcoin. The family member that you mentioned in your opening post should count himself lucky that he has someone who cares enough to talk about Bitcoin. But instead of taking your words seriously and doing a bit of self-research, he decided to be an irritating person just because he could not let go of his own giant ego. He missed out on a good investment opportunity and that should have humbled him.

Don't get angry at such unteachable people. At some point in his life he might realize that his ego prevented him from making good decisions in life.
1214  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A Nigerian Father Rejects Son's Gambling Win on: May 25, 2023, 09:21:36 PM
A boy won #38,000,000 ($82340.19) with just #400 ($0.87) and when the boy brought home his win, the biological father of the boy rejected the money because it was gotten from gambling. So that makes me to think how people look or see or think of gambling. Is gambling a bad thing to do? As for me gambling is not a bad something but the individual can be bad and also the way you present yourself in the society can also tell people about your personality.

How do you see the father? Was he right by rejecting the son gambling win?

What kind of idiotic, ideologically-driven poor excuse of a father acts like this? He should have shown his son support while explaining to him the dangers of gambling. He should have given his son to understand that this win was a rare 1-in-lifetime event. So that the kid would not end up chasing his gambling win from his past days.

Money might not be the most important thing in life but that father definitely did not teach his child a valuable lesson. Rather I think that the son will now learn that gambling can be very rewarding and it is best to keep secrets from his father. Thats not a good lesson.

I wonder what a licensed psychologist would have to say about this matter, though...
1215  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Poker coming to stake.com in the near future ! on: May 25, 2023, 07:20:44 PM

On yesterday's stream Eddie said Poker should and will be coming to stake some time soon.
He didn't mention a specific time though.

I think that's a great idea. They basically get risk free money through collecting the rake. Having a super big player base this would be a HUGE opportunity for stake and for their players.

For people with skill at poker that might become a lucrative site. Many degen gamblers that just lost with casino games and sports might "try their luck" at poker, fishing time.  Grin

Question is though, will they make their own poker software/network where only stake players will be able to play or will they join a network like ipoker, ggpoker, 888 and so on.
My best guess that they will keep it in house because KYC is not mandatory. Some abusers might want to run up some amounts on sports/casino and the chip dump it to somebody on a different site through shared network.

Anyway, I think it's a nice idea. Poker with crypto still is WAY too small.
Let's hope they can create a fun and safe environment with a lot of different poker variations like NLH, PLO, Stud games, Chinese Poker and so on.

Hopefully they are asking the players for their input when creating this! And please, make some moderate rake.  Grin

Poker is not equal poker. What kind of poker variants will there be? I assume Texas Hold'em will be offered, naturally. Omaha Hold'em and Chinese poker would be nice additions as well. I wonder why crypto poker is so relatively small compared to other games? You would think it would be bigger, especially since it is relatively popular in every other non-crypto casino, especially physical location casinos.

As far as skill with poker goes, I think most of it lies in the ability to read someone elses bluff. Which used to be a skill since it was/is a face-to-face game but its almost impossible over the internet. So I would wager its more a luck game than anything, now.
1216  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Minners in Kazakhstan pay high electricity tax on: May 25, 2023, 06:52:46 PM
Kazakhstan has a lot of electricity—the price is cheap,” Bekbauov says. Some miners were paying $0.0023 per kilowatt-hour for their power—far below what they'd expect to pay in the US or China. In 2018, they took their fledgling company, Xive, to Tbilisi for a mining conference.

Since the beginning of 2023, cryptocurrency miners operating in Kazakhstan are obliged to pay new fees for the power they need to mint digital coins. A surcharge introduced in 2021 now depends on the price of electricity consumed by bitcoin farms and can be much higher than the original levy

https://news.bitcoin.com/crypto-miners-in-kazakhstan-start-paying-higher-electricity-fees/
https://eurasianet.org/kazakhstan-slaps-crypto-miners-with-higher-energy-bills

The base for the levy is the average price of electricity consumed by a miner during a given tax period. If a company paid 24 tenge or more per kWh, the minimum fee of 1 tenge would be charged, as per the latest tariff scale quoted by Interfax Kazakhstan and other local media.

For example, if the producer pays 24 tenge, worth around $0.05, or more per kilowatt hour, the surcharge remains at 1 tenge. If they pay 5-10 tenge, the surcharge will hit 10 tenge.

https://news.bitcoin.com/crypto-miners-in-kazakhstan-start-paying-higher-electricity-fees/
https://eurasianet.org/kazakhstan-slaps-crypto-miners-with-higher-energy-bills
$0.05 per kilowatt is not the worst rate for a miner with taxes. In Russia, in many regions, the tariff for the population for electricity is 10-20% higher. If not compared with Irkutsk.

Kazachstan has always had the cheapest electricity costs but this new fee is just another way for the corrupt politicians of Kazakhstan to steal money out of their citizens pockets. Its nothing new. You can ask any Kazakh he will say the same. The corruption and government thievery has been going on for ages.

The higher rate is definitely not the worst rate for a miner but we can expect it to have some effect on the future of mining in Kazakhstan, as well as on the price of Bitcoin.

They are shooting themselves in the foot instead of adopting the image of friendliest miner country. But thats just my own thoughts on the matter.

Lets see how things play out...
1217  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: low-cost hardware wallet for less than 10 dollars on: May 25, 2023, 05:49:51 PM
You read the title correctly, it's all true and we're even talking about a blockstream Jade wallet.

I must specify that for the moment I have only ordered the hardware and I'm waiting for delivery, the times are very long but with only 8 dollars you can "build" your own secure hardware wallet with Jade.

By reading this guide and by purchasing this device you can try.

or if you want to try but spending a little more then try these two
STICK PLUS and BASIC CORE
If you try, let me know how it went.

I also leave you a demonstration video that explains
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PeqP6oVnlIs

How secure is a hardware wallet that costs only a mere 8 dollars? Is that really the kind of wallet you would want to put your money into?

I think the price of a hardware wallet should reflect how much money, thought and time went into its development. A 8 dollar hardware wallet is not really worth considering unless its provably safe. The proof is kind of the missing part here. But since the code seems to be open source, I think that proof is easy to look for. On the other hand, it being open source might just give hackers the tools they need to find a weakness in the wallet.

Has this been vouched by anyone? Any auditors or something?
1218  Economy / Gambling / Re: Using ToS against users normal? on: May 25, 2023, 04:24:11 PM
Changing of terms and conditions without notifying the users or gamblers is normal with online gambling websites? Then when you did something wrong or about to withdraw your money they will tell you that you don't read their terms and conditions, and you start arguing with them until you decide to read the ToS again and you find out that it's different.

Some gambling websites consist of wicked owners that willingly plan to defraud their users using the ToS against them, or is this normal? Have such happened to anyone on this forum before?

Technically, the terms and conditions of the website in question is a contractual agreement between the user and the website which is offering services. In this case the service being gambling and the website a online casino.

So not only would changing the terms and conditions without notifying the users be immoral, I think it is also illegal. The user needs to be made aware of the new terms and conditions and he must agree to them before the website allows him to continue using their service.

If this does no happen then the user would have a strong case in court and I imagine the casino in question would be required to refund the user any deposited/lost funds since the starting date of the new TOS. But this could go both ways and the user might be required to return any winnings as well.

So notifying the user of the change is the right thing for the casino to do, in any case. I think we can all agree on that.
1219  Economy / Economics / Re: When will we stop living for the weekend? Escaping the 9-5 life. on: May 25, 2023, 01:08:49 AM
Some people like this, some does it to survive, or others do it because they have no other options. Depending on your need, this could feel like hell or heaven. Also, there's a term that says, you need money in order to make more money. Many choose these 9–5 jobs so that they can save enough money in order to start a business on their own. So if you have a plan and enough asset to start something like that, you can decide to quit your job. But for me, the competition is so high. So grab any opportunity you can get. Have something as your backup and then move onto something new if that involves risks.

I think it mostly depends on how and during which time you were raised and started working. Many people have gotten used to 9-5 jobs and the newer generation has gotten used to better conditions and less working times. If you were to travel back 100 years, you would find children in coal mines working 12 hours a day, 6 days a week and for them it would be considered normal. Even though today it is considered abuse. Even for adults.

So the older generation is used to one way of life and the younger generation to another.

Personally, I believe you should only work as much as you need. But to figure out how much you need you first must ask yourself how much money you need.

A single parent, raising 3 children is going to be under more pressure to earn more and work more than a single bachelor, living in a cheap housing situation.
1220  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: It's on! 2024 US Presidential Election Biden+Harris Vs Trump Bitcoin betting.... on: May 24, 2023, 06:07:36 PM
I am definitely not going to pretend to understand anything about American politics but I thought that Trump was indicted? How is it possible that he is still in the presidential race? Are people with criminal charges allowed to become president?

Even if he is in the race, at this point I doubt he will win. He has embarrassed himself too often in the past. I doubt that he will win. So my money is not going to be on him.

The american people probably see Biden as the only choice, especially now that with the fact that its too dangerous to change the international political route (concerning the war in Ukraine) Biden has put the USA on. Trump would do a 180. If Ukraine lost the support of the US, that would be total chaos.

But then again Biden is like a million years old. What are the chances he will even live through to see the election results?
