1141  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do gambling addicts bother about the consequences of their actions? on: June 20, 2023, 07:41:34 PM
Gambling if not checked cam lead to a devastating condition for a gambler's life. As a gambler when you allow yourself to be controlled by gambling instinct instead of having control over it, it repercussions doesn't particularly affects only you but goes beyond just you to those around you.

A woman was giving an account of how her gambling husband has been problematic to her with his gambling attitude. She gave an instance of how her husband had to steal her jewelry and sold it to get money to carry on his gambling enterprise. And unsuspecting of her husband the woman accused their come-and-go house-cleaner of making away with her jewelry when the cleaner must have come to the house for her cleaning services that very faithful day. She got the cleaner arrested, but then, investigations where carried out which it was uncovered that the woman's husband was the one who stole her jewelry for gambling and not the cleaner.

It is difficult to grasp or imagined the level of humiliation the innocent cleaner must have faced for an act she knows nothing about.

A question that bothers me concerning this issue is;
1. Do gambling addicts ever take a second thought on what the consequences of their actions can be not just to them but on those close to them?
2. Do they in reality genuinely feel any remorse about  how those affected by their actions might be feeling?
3. Or, are they a dispassionate victim of their own uncontrollable addictive gambling lifestyle?

Gambling addicts are not some subhuman trash, although some can be, and act such a way.

The very problem in addiction, whether its from gambling, drugs, alcohol, food etc. all points to the same physical cause. The brain chemistry of an addict is going haywire and is not as it should be. This Dysbalance in for example, dopamine receptors that cannot work properly after being abused by dopamine draining drugs or behavior.

So what it really is is a neurological and mental illness that needs to be treated professionally, otherwise the individual does not stand much of a chance beating it him/herself. And thats the point in which things become desperate.

So the things they do and say is understandable, even if its not tolerable.
1142  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Important Points to Learn from Your Worst Sports Betting Losses! on: June 20, 2023, 04:07:47 PM
We've all suffered our fair share of setbacks. What is truly important, though, is how we respond to our worst betting losses and the lessons we learn from them. I believe we can turn these setbacks into profits with favorable outcomes by reflecting on our prior mistakes, implementing solid betting practices, and embracing a disciplined attitude. Here are my five most essential takeaways from my worst sports betting loss.

Analyze your losses objectively: Take the time to go over your worst losses with a clear and objective mind. Determine the elements that contributed to the losses, such as poor decision-making, emotional reactions, or a lack of research.

Accept responsibility for your losses: It is critical to accept responsibility for your betting losses. Blaming outside influences or luck will keep you from learning key lessons and enhancing your future betting strategy.

Identify patterns and common errors: Look for repeating patterns or errors that contributed to your losses. These include chasing losses, betting rashly, overestimating your knowledge, and failing to practice basic bankroll management.

Bankroll management strategy: Proper bankroll management is critical for long-term gaming success. Set up a separate budget for betting and make staking limits, such as restricting bets to a certain percentage of your total bankroll.

Disciplined betting: Maintaining a profitable betting strategy necessitates discipline. Even if you are feeling losses or emotions, stick to your set plans and avoid making premature selections.

Prioritize quality over quantity: Rather than placing a large number of bets, focus on discovering high-quality betting opportunities. Conduct comprehensive research, analyze statistics, and place bets that have a better probability of winning.

By incorporating these elements into your betting strategy, you may be able to recover from your worst gambling losses. Remember to approach gambling with a disciplined mindset, constantly learn from your experiences, and adjust your techniques as needed.

I agree that people need to accept not only the responsibility of their losses but also the reality of them. People like to try to earn back their money by listening to their emotions and trying to bank on a surprise/lucky win which will somehow earn back all their losses.  And even when they have lost once, twice, three times - they still keep going, no matter  how bleak the outlook is for such a win.

Betting rashly is a huge problem with basically every single person who gambles. Nobody is immune to that rush of adrenaline of trying to win back everything that you lost not so long ago.

I think that if gamblers get this issue under control, they have done 90% of the work they need to gamble without making mistakes.
1143  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How the casino takes money from you with a deposit bonus on: June 19, 2023, 08:53:31 PM
obviously, sign up as well as deposit bonuses are just marketing tools for online gambling casinos. And they are very effective.

from the perspective of a marketing guy, I understand and respect why this tactic is used in the world of gambling to find new customers (gamblers) for their gambling website. But that does not really mean that this is how the casinos take money from you. It is just how they get new people to use their gambling website. Basically what I mean is that advertising is what any business does, Casinos are not exempt from that.

But yes, casinos hope that you will probably gamble and lose both the deposit and the bonus. But that's just business.
1144  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Success or Fail? - Talking about Gambling as a major income on: June 19, 2023, 11:07:32 AM
Gambling is, and always will be nothing but a form of expensive entertainment. Of course there are very very rare occasions when you win a wonderful prize such as a large amount of money but even then it will not be life changing. The life-changing wins are almost non-existent probabilities and should therefore not be chased after.

The house edge is always on the winning side of the probability scales and the more you gamble, the more you realize this, because you will lose more often than you win.

So talking about gambling as if one could make a living off of it, simply by gambling your money is complete nonsense and should not be encouraged by anyone. Especially the casinos. Gambling in such a way is a recipe for financial disaster.

Now on the other hand, you could make a living from other activities related to gambling. Signatures for example. You get paid to promote a gambling casino. There is no risk in losing all your money in something like that, and it is well within the world of the activity of gambling, which you enjoy.

1146  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New question for experts on: June 16, 2023, 11:18:07 AM
Hello everyone, I have a new question,
In your opinion, is it worth attending blockchain events?

I have never been to any significant blockchain event but as I understand it, those kinds of events are mainly for networking between developers and project leaders. For the layman it might be a good opportunity to meet the right kind of people, who will teach you a deeper insight into current Blockchain developments and trends.

However it would be wise to first learn about the basics of Blockchain.

Otherwise there is not much point in a newcomer going to such an event.

But everyone is welcome to go.
1147  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gender in Gambling [differences between Women and Men in Gambling] on: June 16, 2023, 09:32:58 AM
Quote
Stereotypically, gender is also cited as one of the reasons why people like to gamble. One of the research findings shows that women tend to prefer percentage-odds-based games and men tend to prefer skill-based games.

For example, poker, from a man's point of view is considered a skill-based gamble. While women see it as a game of calculating the odds.

In gambling, generally, women don't like it when others see them lose. Girls probably prefer slot machines because no one sees players win or lose.

Gambling with slot machines is often a personal experience free of guilt or shame. While the men are not like that.

According to research, when a man loses a gamble, there's a machismo attached to him saying, "Yeah, I lost £500, but I can afford it."

And when you win big, guys like it to be exposed right away. Because, they consider this as part of the skill.

This difference in reasons does not necessarily indicate whether men prefer to gamble than women. Women who like to gamble or men who like to gamble are both related to the courage to take risks.

For different reasons, people who like to gamble see it as fun and for reasons that are more complex than just economics.
Read more (use google translate)

Do you think the results of the research above are correct?

I know that the number of women involved in gambling is very small because in some countries, people's views of female gamblers are still very bad and they are considered dirty and unfit to be a wife. maybe the results of this research can be used by gambling business owners in developing their business.

I do not wish to be viewed upon as sexist but I think that study is pretty much spot on from any realists perspective. Women hate being embarrassed in public and they would view losing in public as humiliation. Men are less calculating than women and just jump into any risk, headfirst without a plan or care in the world.  Women are more careful, that's for sure.

I have never heard of women being called dirty or unfit for gambling though. That might pertain to gambling addicts regardless of gender
1148  Other / Archival / Re: No panic while holding my Bitcoin on: June 15, 2023, 04:31:36 PM
Hello everyone, i just want to share my thought here as a newbie, i bought my first bitcoin two weeks back, after spending the first month studying and reading everything as relate to Bitcoin, the time spent on learning and gathering knowledge have started to pay off for me during this period were the price of bitcoin have nosedive greatly.
Let me explain what i mean in details.
First before i bought my first bitcoin, i first of all build a good understand of the market and how bitcoin volatility works, and also learned about the effect of external forces in determining the price of Bitcoin  such as exchange crisis and other governmental policies that can have short time effect on bitcoin.
Secondly i have learned never to panic during any crisis time or when the bitcoin price drop significantly because in the near future it will increase in value again, and also to hold an amount i can afford to look away from for a long time.
This and many more is the reason behind my current confidence in Bitcoin's ability never to let me lose if I hold for a long time.
Indeed knowledge is power, because knowledge can save you when money failed, because knowledge failure is a lifetime problem but money failure in terms of investment is temporally and if I wait I will soon be in profit again very soon, that is what past records have shown and proven.

First off, I would like to welcome you to our Bitcointalk forum! I hope you like it here and that you continue your Bitcoin journey with us fellow holders. You will find that there are many such moments of immense volatility, which tempt even the most veteran of Bitcoiners into selling their coins. But as long as you believe in Bitcoin and keep holding your stash, you will be completely comfortable.

Hope to see you around the forum! Have a great time! Cool
1149  Economy / Speculation / Re: SEC Lawsuit Against Binance Is Likely To Hit Bitcoin Price on: June 15, 2023, 02:27:23 PM
It is evident that SEC is after the cryptocurrency market, they are targeting tokens that raised money and now they are targeting Tier 1 cryptocurrency exchanges like Binance and Coinbase because if they are able to drag them to court and defeat them then it would be easier for them to go after smaller business entities that are handling cryptocurrencies.

Do you think SEC's lawsuit case will create more damage to the BTC price ?

Is it possible for all crypto exchange companies in the US to avoid SEC's trouble ?.
Even if there is a correction, it will be momentary. The government has to pass a new bill for cryptocurrencies.
I think it is not that they are after the crypto market as a whole, but they are after the whole "hey I am a great dude, pay me millions and I will build you a great token that will make you rich!!!" system we have in the crypto world these days. Lets be honest we have that right now, we pay strangers to build tokens that would get us rich, that's literally all we do, and that's not what is legal.

SEC has nothing against bitcoin for example, why would it? It's not a security, it's not owned by anyone, it's not built by someone that profited from it neither. But, do we really need to pay millions and millions to creators of the new ones? I fully respect and understand the logic behind attacking those ones, it makes sense, that's a very big risk.

Of course SEC has nothing against Bitcoin, but they are definitely trying their best to find a reason to go against it. It's what regulators do. But they will fail either way.

The biggest problem that I see with this lawsuit is that Binance is deeply intertwined with Bitcoins speculative value. So if Binance takes a hit, Bitcoin price too takes a hit.

The whales of course are only happy to add FUD and Fomo into the whole mess, so they can buy cheap Bitcoin from the panic sellers.

It's always been like this. Just hold and don't panic. Cool
1150  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Where can i get the crypto whales signal??? on: June 15, 2023, 01:36:39 PM
Topic says it all
If some one have the info about crypto whales signals
Feel free to share

Dont give me any free advice about doing or researching or analyzing my own trade. I just need some whales signals to gather some info with my own statistics.

So fell free to share if u have any idea about whale signals

In my opinion whale signals are never the real thing. They might exist but normal people will never be invited. So 99.9999% of those trading signals are just scams to get you to pay a fee.

Anyone offering predictions should be ignored. I have been trading for years now and never once have I heard or seen a real whale group, selling signals to small investors. What I have seen are pump and dump coins looking for victims.

Do future yourself a favor and stay away.
1151  Economy / Economics / Re: Logic of life on: June 15, 2023, 01:18:12 PM
The logic of life is that you can't earn more than you know,
Any amount you are earning today is 80% as a limit of what you know.

The richest man on earth is earning whatever amount he is earning due to the advantage of  what he knows or  can do.

So, before you can move from earning $100 dollar monthly to $1000 per month,
One of the major thing you must scale up is your knowledge.

So ask yourself, what should I know that can make me ×2 my monthly income?

Seek knowledge always.

Your logic escapes me.

There are amazing geniuses in this world who make a mere pittance and there are complete buffoons who are billionaires only because of their lucky life.

There are many factors other than intellect, experience and wisdom which decide how much money you make. Luck is also one of the biggest factors.

For example, some people simply do not care at all about how much money they make because they are comfortable with a very humble life. Others can never get enough.
1152  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin's Volatility Problem on: June 14, 2023, 09:30:16 PM
The value of bitcoin can fluctuate rapidly and dramatically, sometimes within a single day. This can create challenges for individuals and businesses that use bitcoin as a means of payment or as an investment.

For example, if someone were to receive payment in bitcoin BTC for a product or sevice, the value of that payment could decrease significantly before they have chance to exchange it for a more stable currency. Similarly, business that hold bitcoin as an investment may experience significant losses if the value of bitcoin drops suddenly.

the decentralized nature of bitcoin can make it difficult for government and regulartory agencies to monitor and control its use. This can create challenges in areas such as tax collection, money laundering prevention, and consumer protection.

Overall, while bitcoin BTC has the potential to offer many benefits ,its volatility and lack of regulation can create significant challenges for business, governments and us people around the world.

Everything in value fluctuates. You think that paper dollar bill in your hand is always the same value, just because $1 is printed on it? No. Stocks fluctuate, anything you can invest your fluctuating money into also fluctuates. Do not be fooled.

With fiat, this fluctuations are kept hidden from your eyes until you go to the store and find out that all of a sudden, eggs cost twice as much as the day before.

Bitcoin is transparent and decentralized. No hidden fluctuations, No manipulations.

Bitcoin is the better money.
1153  Economy / Economics / Re: Is poverty a lack of money? on: June 14, 2023, 08:56:16 PM
I see poverty as the inability to provide what you need. So when people assume that poverty is when you don't have money I don't agree. Now what if you have all you need and you don't require money to buy anything, are you poor? Some people live in communities where everyone lives agrarian life. They have all they need because everything they need to survive is available. Food is on the farm, water available and everybody is happy. Although it was hard during the Covid-19 lockdown many people lived without money. I have also seen many people leaving cities and moving to rural areas to live a natural life.

In summary when you have everything you need to survive and you don't need money, are you poor?

I believe that there are different kinds of poverty. Some kinds of poverty are caused by a broken mindset, other kinds are caused by external forces which we have no control over. Many people are rash in blaming the poor for their circumstances but sometimes having money does not help if the person who owns it is mentally incapable of handling it.

But I also think the way we think about money as a medium of taking advantage of others needs to end.
1154  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin gift to wife on wedding. on: June 14, 2023, 07:33:48 PM
Although I still studied, I invested a small amount in Bitcoin. I will get married if I get a good job. Many people give many things to their wives as wedding gifts, I have a different plan. I am planning to gift bitcoin to my wife on her wedding day. Bitcoin is still illegal in my country so I invested with caution. On my wedding day I want to gift half of my investment to my wife.
Should I gift bitcoin to my wife? I want your advice

That sounds like a very romantic thing, especially to a Bitcoiner. However you should make sure that your future wife has the same Bitcoin mindset as you, otherwise she might not see it as a romantic gesture. Although there are always ways to make it seem as such ( for example you can tell her it's your future children's school funds).

Ask yourself if gifting money is frowned upon, in your country/culture before you decide on anything.

Good luck  Grin
1155  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [POLL] Using AI to predict outcomes on: June 14, 2023, 12:50:29 PM
ChatGPT is all the rage at the moment. I’ve seen that people are asking it to predict sporting events. Would you leave gambling decisions up to artificial intelligence? Do you see any potential drawbacks for outsourcing your bets to a software program? Has anyone here tried this yet? Do we need someone to put together a thread of ChatGPT predictions to see how accurate they are?  Any other thoughts?

I haven't tried it yet, has anyone tried it? did you predict correctly? But when it comes to things that are used with emotion, AI can't answer that, because of course, whatever data is put in it, that's all it will say, and there's nothing else, right?

But they say that many people have made a lot of money using AI. As for me, I don't really believe it either. It's hard to trust and expect the AI to win especially if you're going to gamble.

Not even AI can predict the future. The people who use AI for gambling and made money were just lucky, I believe. I do not consider the current AI technology to be true AI. Rather the modern Artificial Intelligence seems to be a cheap imitation of how the human brain works. But how can we have an imitation of such when we do not even understand how it fully works, in the first place? ChatGPT is just a more complex version of "let me Google that for you".
1156  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why People Still Gamble? on: June 13, 2023, 08:04:39 PM
People are saying that gambling is not good so nobody should involved themselves in it. Fathers/Mothers (parents) are shouting to their sons and sometimes beating them all because of gambling. If you are a gambler, the society sees you as a bad boy or person or a waste person in the family. Parents would be saying "look at your age mates, they are going to school and become a successful persons in the society, you are here playing gambling". They would even say, gamblers steal and thieves.
And really when you look at some of those boys they play Draft game morning till evening. Upon all these allegations against gambling. People are still Gambling. WHY? Is There Any Mystery Behind?
It's exactly the same with other bad habits which can and do bring people and their physical health to states of complete and utter ruin. Such as alcohol and smoking. People always tell you to avoid it, yet they still do it.

I guess it's about making a sacrifice to enjoy something that you like. Either way, nothing lasts forever, so why not indulge, as long as you don't overdo it?
1157  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is the best career for women on: June 12, 2023, 09:19:13 AM
Bitcoin's popularity is increasing day by day. Now in today's society both men and women are working shoulder to shoulder together in the office. No exception to this, women are also very interested in Bitcoin and current Bitcoin. The reason for interest is that when a woman works in an office, it becomes a bit difficult for her to juggle family and children. In today's society we see many working women leave their children with the workers and go to office, those children are abused by the workers. I think all the sisters who have chosen this bitcoin as their profession should not face such problems. Because after all the children's work and household chores, there will be enough time to devote to bitcoins. So choosing Bitcoin as a career can be a good decision for girls.

Bitcoin is not a career, but rather a way to keep your finances safe from banks and the problems and complications of fiat. You could consider it a complementary part of your career or simply a side hustle. But in itself, it's not a job. Unless perhaps if you trade.

I am in Bitcoin because it's the future global currency. I am just in early.

1159  Economy / Gambling / Re: Profit By Betting on Losing Teams on: June 12, 2023, 08:24:42 AM
Determine if the team is a loser against the spread, a loser on the money line, or a loser on both

Teams that lose against the spread and money line are usually bad bets. You can find a winning game among an SU and ATS loser, but it doesn’t happen often enough for you to make long term profit betting on the team.

We want teams that have no worse than a .400 record against the spread or no worse than a .400 record on the money line.

A lot of times straight up winning teams are bad against the spread bets. The more a team wins straight up, the more oddsmakers adjust spread lines in favor of underdogs.

Remember, human beings like to bet on winners. So to attract action on the other side of the line, oddsmakers turn favored teams into underlays with ridiculous spreads.

Once we find the team, we can move to step 2.

Discover why the team loses
.400 teams aren’t the same as a .300 team. A .300 team is likely just a bad team. But a .400 team often has a losing record due to some anomaly, like an injured offensive lineman, or like in Milwaukee’s case versus Miami in this year’s NBA Playoffs, their best player not being one-hundred percent.

Try to find out why the team loses. Once you believe you’ve discovered why, move to step 3

I think that betting on a team to lose the game and making a correct prediction is just as difficult as betting on a team to win and getting it right. I think mostly because when matches are played, the players are on an eye to eye level. Otherwise the match would not be worth it and gambling would be too easy. Nobody wants to see or bet on a Mike Tyson vs a baby match... Grin
1160  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you ever felt remorse after gambling? on: June 11, 2023, 09:37:47 PM
Losing certainly feels bad. I know the feeling of losing a lot of money due to my stupidity but that has not stopped me from losing even more money in the all-too-near futures after that. Just put it out of your head and not dwell on it too much. Otherwise you start thinking you can win your loss back but end up losing more money...
