Is it true?
262  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: September 11, 2016, 10:33:10 AM
I heard there is a fake mymonero site. The fake site URL ends with .co instead of .com

Maybe you accidentally logged into the fake site and they got your password?

Oh shit... it's still online and looks totally legit. I hope you didn't get scammed Birr...  Cry

Edit - scour your browser history asap! Sad

You can send him messages I bet. I doubt he has it automated. What ever you type in as a mnemonic he will read it.
I saw the warning about mymonero.co as soon as it was posted on these forums.  I've used mymonero.com several times since then.  I never went to mymonero.co.  Whoever got into my account, it was somebody else.
The last two or three times that I used mymonero.com, it wasn't syncing.  It would say your account is 10 blocks (or whatever) behind.  Then the number of blocks behind stated by the error message would increase gradually..  So in effect it was frozen. Something was probably interfering with my connection to mymonero.com, preventing communication.  That could be what made it look like the blockchain wasn't syncing.  If there was a man-in-the-middle attack, maybe that would explain the lack of a connection, I don't know.
It would be good to figure out what happened, if not for my sake then to prevent it happening to others.
Fluffypony said in his response to my support email that the server has not been compromised. I don't think I can ask or expect him to spend much time on this.  Maybe there are people with some expertise here who are more interested.

Very sorry to hear of your loss birr.  That thing with saying your MyMonero account is behind has been happening for a few weeks that I know of.  It also happens to those not using either VPN or Tor.

It was a day from hell so I decided to make myself feel better by buying more Monero.  Having no patience I used the easy method of ShapeShift.  Well I should have known better as the btc was sent to them but I did not receive the Monero.  I'm sure? this will work out by getting my btc back.

265  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 10, 2016, 12:32:15 AM
Seems the forum has been down for a couple hours.....

Down more than up the last few days.

True, but I still find it quite extraordinary that 1 btc can only buy 1/10th of the coins it could just a few weeks ago.

I want so bad to buy more, but wow... that mental barrier is still taking me time to adjust to! Tongue

Maybe this will help you adjust.  As I see things in XMR and not btc I look at it like this instead....  You need 10X the btc to buy the same amount of Monero.  I guess that doesn't make it better, it makes it worse.

Edit: Forget it, Explorer says Cheap Coinz!

Monero opens up: 'We're about as private as you can get'

I think that's a first.  No mention of fluffypony only Mr. Spagni Cool

The battle for hearts and minds as well as 0.02 rages on.  Time for sleep.  Whatever the price when I wake, it's all good.  I'm giving this 2 more years. Kiss

I have a small amount of btc that should arrive tomorrow and is earmarked for Monero.  Can't wait to buy at my highest price yet. Grin Tongue

Good on yer.  I'm done buying for now because I've been neglecting other expenses but going Full Ramen was the best thing I've ever done. Cool

Lol.. full ramen, thanks that's awesome!!! I am regretting not doing so now myself. But.. There is still time. Wink

Full Ramen.  LOL.  I've resembled that for a long, long while.  Well, up til 0.07x.  Yes. it was worth it.  The steaks this last couple weeks have been oh. so. good.

I am still making my peanut butter and jam sandwich to take to work everyday for breakfast.  I have however recently splurged on some more expensive tea which has raised my avg cost of a cup from 3 to 5 cents.

It appears our suspicions are confirmed! Atleast some amount of the bitcoin rally is being caused by someone buying bitcoin as a gateway into monero. Grin

Not bought, it was a small win at poker.  All poker winnings go to Monero regardless of the price.  Haven't bought btc in a month also because of neglected expenses although I have converted some of what I had into Monero during that time.

Yeah I was just kidding.

After being here for 2 years it's nice to see the dawn.  I haven't sold because the day has just begun.  That should answer the question.  But am I correct?
272  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 07, 2016, 09:17:31 PM
Monero is down almost 12% on Poloniex from yesterday..... any thoughts?

Yes. Ask again tomorrow. Tongue

Edit - In all seriousness, I think it's normal. This is not a "Get rich over night or in a week coin" (Well unless you had some serious accumulation going on the past few years. Cheesy

Honestly I feel like Darknet markets will be the first adopters of any good cryptocurrency.
I didn't realize some had started accepting Monero.
I've been looking into it, hopefully I'm not too late to get some and make a little profit...

Looks like it might be a little bit of a buying opportunity right this very moment. Could go down from here sure. But you wouldnt be buying at any where near ATH. Something to be said for that.

Yes, this ^^^^

so if you accumulated for a few years you could get rich overnight Huh Tongue Roll Eyes

(gents, what happened to buy and hold Wink )

Raises hand.

Unfortunately I'm dealing with bigger problems than a ~15% drop from 220 Sad

What's up? You were in at .0015 and .0009 IIRC.

Not something directly related to the price.  Sorry nothing else to say at the moment as it's up in the air.

Did you mean to include all those zeros?  I've been in at many prices and out at none.

Some stats from moneroprice.i2p:

Total XMR volume: 128.6m XMR
Last 3 weeks XMR volume: 48m XMR

In last 3 weeks was 1/3 of all XMR volume. And since price is way higher now, that way lot more BTC volume.   This shows us how different trading of Monero is now  as it was in last 2 years.  We simply can't learn from past anymore since is totally new money and new people in XMR right now.

Bitsquare is a decentralized bitcoin exchange. Your funds are located on your own computer and there are no KYC/AML type of ID requirements. It's now even possible to run it on raspberry pi (albeit a bit slow).
But it's still relatively low volume, so we need more traders. Please consider checking it out. Come to #bitsquare on IRC if you have questions.

Everyone should use it more. I know changes are not what most people like and Poloniex is just cool but trading on more exchanges just help the coin. If not enough volume people will not bother trading there. Also Polo withdrawal limits. Trading here gives you none.

(bolded)  But Monero usually does this at this time of year Tongue   Grin

I checked bitsquare last week and being the idiot I am I couldn't figure out how to buy.  I will definitely avail myself of TheKoziTwo's help and buy some.  Oh good, another excuse to buy at a ludicrous price.  Last ludicrous price was 0.0143 and I blamed my gf.  Even though I gave her 2 chances to question what's going on she still hasn't.  So cute.  Those are still her coins. Kiss

Update.

Number of Monero sold = 0

What will make you do it?

Honestly I do not know.

Today I picked up 11 deposit containers worth 5 cents each.  Yes I did.  I remember when I could get 1 XMR for 5 of them.  Now the going rate is 270 deposit containers for 1 XMR.  Damn.  In today's value each 5 cent deposit container that I redeemed for Monero back then is worth $2.70 now.  Hot damn.

Hello
I'm trying to synchronize monero network with blockchain but after 1 day I see still 93000 of 1000000+. How much would take it?

Thank you

This is dependent on your hardware.  My slow HD with limited memory takes a while, maybe 2-3 days.  A SSD with appropriate memory takes hours.

Maybe you have dial up modem Tongue

My antivirus detects Troj/Miner-AB in the windows exe. I used the link on this forum to download.

All anti virus detects CPU miners as viruses/trojans because of botnets.  Ofc that doesn't mean some aren't but this one is just fine and I have used it with no problems.  Wolf has a very good rep.  You should add it to your anti viruses trusted list so it doesn't mess with it later.
