WTF, why Ethereum still not added in bittrex?  Huh Huh Huh

Yup, this surprises me too...with all that trading volume...

I don't know when it started trading but it is there now.

i sincerely apologize to miners who's lost their shares on my pool this night. i will look how to compensate them. (i have their address in the logs)

As I was asleep with limited access to where the miner I'm using this week is, I didn't notice the problem.  Having breakfast now Smiley

Is the pool OK now?

I'm not looking for compensation, it shouldn't be much.  Should I give you my address?

AEON coin is the next generation of anonymous cryptocurrency.

No wallet gui: check
No precompiled miner: check
No features: check
Fork: check

Mobile-friendly PoW and block time (released)

Mobile friendly? You need a wallet gui for that.

AOEN is fair coin.

Fair because there is no difficulty because no one cares, so literally anyone can mine it. Oh wait, windows users can't mine it.

I use windows and am currently mining AEON.  It was very easy to set up.  I am about as tech unsavy as they come while still being able to use a computer.

Yes the POW was changed so it can be mobile friendly.  That was a necessary first step.  More steps are planned, obviously.  It's not a complete coin and has only recently been resurrected, but you know that.

Although the real motivating factor for me is that smooth looks quite handsome in his avatar.

@kazuki49,  please forgive me Smiley
1226  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: August 12, 2015, 10:50:28 PM
Just received some btc which is earmarked for XMR purchases.  That should guarantee we don't see the 220's again. Grin

Keep it easy, pal. I'm trying to load up here.  Wink

srsly, lemme get some more cheap coinz!

Sorry that's not how I meant it.  My purchases will not be that big.

I was commenting on my luck.  I buy when I have btc and that usually coincides with the price going up.  Although I was able to get some in the .00195>.00220 range before the recent rise from there.

I have been building my Monero house brick by brick and was doing so last when the price was considerably higher than more recently.

You guys can relax Smiley

1229  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where do you think is the world’s bitcoin center? on: August 12, 2015, 12:17:39 PM
Australia will be the new financial hub and business center for Bitcoin in near future. The are taking quick and effective steps to regularize Bitcoin in their economy after recent legislation adopted by Australian Gov in which the recognized Bitcoin as currency.

I have been to Australia twice and love it there!

I agree, it's much better to regularize btc than to regulate it!

Devs, I can wait for the new tagged release.
...

... but the GNU/Linux nerds who compile their own executables want to keep buying cheap moneroj from those who run Microsoft Windows and use 8 month old tagged executables.  Wink

you ain't buying from this windows executable idiot Grin

Is this crash due to all New York customers cashing out due to being dropped by every exchange because of bit license deadline?

bitlicense could very well be a reason here...

Does bitstamp still service NY?  Coinbase certainly does.

Edit:  Does BTC-e care? Grin

Thousands of years ago before books were printed in any quantity, people would memorize an entire book so that they could share it with others.

what books were printed thousands of years ago??   Huh

Maybe not printed but written/scribed.  You know the books written by the greeks.  That was over 2 thousand years ago.  Long books at that.  Like The Iliad and Odyssey from 2800 years ago.  All from the tradition of storytelling.

The kernal of this was imparted to me over 50 years ago and I have embellished it much like Homer, well maybe a little bit.

I'm here now because I need to be up in 6 hrs for work and debating whether to buy some more now.

Let's see how long this bad movie will keep me up so I will be ready for my 12 hour work day. Tongue
1235  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 08, 2015, 10:36:12 PM
Volume wasn't even that high really for a 4% drop.

What makes you think it's over? The Chinese haven't even awakened yet, and a huge storm is rocking China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong and could prevent funds from getting to the exchanges for days.

it's gonna go down another 3 percent.  One thing's for sure: whoever catches the bottom will make some quick money on the bounce.

Someone gets it.

Bitcoin always has two legs down.
Same as during a run up it always has a top and then a lower top before going down. Even if you can't trade on ta. This simply makes money 9/10 times.

Yeah but I usually get excited by the first big drop Tongue

Impossible to remember?  I'm old and my memory ain't what it used to be but...

My passwords are created from the diceware method and are each 7 words long.  I have 4 of them memorized for 4 separate wallets.  Supposedly they are unhackable even when letting you know how I created them and their length.  In addition MyMonero creates a 13 word seed used for logging in and that is memorized as well.

Impossible to remember?  Don't tell me that you young whipper snapper!

and if you get hit by a bus?

I do hope your seeds don't exist solely in memory and you have back ups of them somewhere for either yourself or your next of kin to access.

Of course I have backups Smiley  Even if when I die my cryptocurrency lives on Cool

It's just easier not to keep looking for the papers I have my passwords on so I memorize them.  Yes paper, I'm old Grin
1237  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 08, 2015, 09:57:59 PM

Wow, JorgeStolfi actually has some sound advice finally.

It's not that your passphrase isn't awesome, but most websites and logins that have a password cannot be hacked because it is difficult to determine that password due to restrictions on repetitive guesses. When I graduated college in 1997 I wrote a quick program to guess passwords by a simple changing of letters in a large string of characters just to see how easy it was to figure out my own password. A quick program at the processing power of the time took less than 30 minutes for a seemingly strong password. Back in that day you could continually try passwords no problem, the server would not kick you out. As I am not a hacker, that's about the furthest I went into the hacking world.

With brain wallets there is no server side prevention for guessing as many times as you want to guess your pass phrase. If it is not more complicated than a private key, it will be guessed.

Gizmodo published the top 25 passwords of 2015 and how much their ranking had changed from 2014. The top one for both 2015 and 2014 is "123456" and number two is "password". Easily memorable (and guessable) passwords are inevitable because anything strong is impossible to remember. How many brain wallets use these awful passwords?

Any word on what the big hullabaloo is supposed to be today from XMRchina?

He said that setting up things went slower than hoped.  I don't know where his post is but he gave some details about what he was doing.
1239  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: August 08, 2015, 05:06:47 PM
This week I only get 5/7 XMR for my 10 deposit bottles found, I don't buy or consume.

Somehow 400,000 bottles per XMR doesn't sound reasonable although I did see one lady with ~1000.

I went to withdraw and requested 176 chips.  I then selected btc and I received the following info.

Cashout Amount in USD: 176 (BTC: 0.17) (1 USD = 0.0010 BTC)

All I want is 176 chips which equals 0.0176 btc not 0.17
Why is USD even mentioned and why is 1 USD stated as 0.0010 btc?

I am going to assume this is a display/info error and am hitting the submit button.

Yep after hitting the submit button the stated amount for the withdrawal request is correct.

Were you doing this through the site itself or poker client? I made mine through the poker client and had no issues or mention of USD there.

It was through the client and displayed as I wrote above.  I don't remember seeing it like that before but who knows.

I had no qualms submitting the request as I was certain it was an info display issue and even if there was a problem it would be alright in the end.
