On BitcoinWisdom > Markets they list MtGox Shocked

Even though it is gray lettering instead of the usual blue the link works  Shocked Shocked

When you click the link you are taken to a page that warns you that "Your connection is not private"  "Attackers might be trying to steal your info from MtGox"  Grin

I had version 1.9.8 and at this time my btc balance is zero.  I just downloaded 2.4.4 for windows 8.1  Now I have both icons but only 2.4.4 actually works.

The problem is that all my prior transactions have the decimal moved 3 places to the right so that a transaction of 1 btc reads 1000  and a balance of 23.123456 reads 23123.456  I guess I should have left some btc in there Grin

I was going to transfer btc to electrum but because of this I transferred to core instead.

Has anybody heard of this happening?  Is there a way of correcting the Hx?  Will there be any issues going forward?

Your settings were reset. Didn't you get the idea that the unit was switched from BTC to mBTC?

Simply change it back in the settings. Might need an electrum restart.

TY, as usual I am clueless.  Good thing I'm lucky!

The block-size issue is still not fixed, it can go up like now but it will go down hard when media paying attention again to that debat.

If you plan to buy more coins just wait untill that block-size issue starts again.

When it's all over...than the real uprise will start.

the debate is already priced in

sure, but not the outcome yet ^^

XT loses, Gavin wins. Core won't give miners all the power. There. Run that through your calc.

I searched the 5 corners of the interw** and was able to obtain some @ $229.5 including fees an hour ago.

AFAIK the android version is the one being worked on.

I know we're few but please try to keep up some nodes, at least when you can spare the resources. Currently I am only connected to 5 nodes.

Trip Report

I just purchased Monero with fiat using AltQuick for the first time.   https://www.altquick.co/buy-2.php

The liquidity usually isn't great near the market price and they charge 2%.  But you do get to use old fashioned cash to buy newfangled cash.  Also the way I was purchasing monero with btc cost me at least 1.25% so not bad for me.

1) select an order, all they require is an email address
2) deposit cash in seller's account
3) scan receipt and send to the AltQuick link.
4) wait a few hours to receive your fungible fun.

I now await the delivery of mine.  They say within 3 hrs.

My take is that the price of Monero will be driven by the long term fundamentals rather than by traders who buy and sell, at a profit or loss, on a 10% spread.

The first indicator will be the market response to the updated official tagged binaries when they come out.

Weird if it happened the same week CK is officially released. What is the estimate on the binaries?

The timetable is here: https://forum.getmonero.org/4/academic-and-technical/303/a-formal-approach-towards-better-hard-fork-management

We'll have to wait a little longer though:
http://fpaste.org/268812/44257030/

"10:13 <@fluffypony> no, we're currently in review-hardfork-code-so-we-dont-break-everything-mode"

I'm still not clear on this.

So the hardfork code is not quite ready.  Does it need to be ready for the new binaries to be released?

Please see below Smiley

Yes it has to be ready before the new binaries will be released. It is ready though, it only needs to be reviewed (which I think MoneroMooo is doing). My guess is that it won't take that long, but you never know! Soon™

Furthermore, read the last line -> < moneromooo> I've not looked at this since last weekend though. I have minor extra changes, and I guess I will PR that tomorrow. :-)

https://github.com/monero-project/bitmonero/pull/405

I have no idea if this finalizes the "review" though, but at least it's progress :-P

Pull request 405 just merged into master Smiley

... but nothing is so oddly priced as monero.

Being that MoneroDice just completed it's 5th consecutive losing day I just bought more Monero to recoup my investment loss plus a bit more.  Any excuse will do Grin Grin

I used ShapeShift which is super easy.  Just give them my Monero address and send them btc.
1171  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 21, 2015, 03:29:35 PM
1)  I found some fiat so I bought some btc.....fingers crossed

If you want to know why the price went down a bit ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Crossing fingers obviously didn't help Tongue

Buying pressure probably dropped on all exchanges when you were done.

Any thoughts on the low volume of the drop?

It wasn't my buying pressure Grin Grin

I was at work (yes on a Sunday) and bought because I had some found fiat and the price went down a couple of dollars.
Being the idiot I am I didn't even look at the volume.  If I had I wouldn't have bought as it had been soooo low even before the minor drop. Tongue

That's what 6 days and 70 hrs a week for the last couple will do to you.  Yes I am at work now!

BTW we are still here.  Where else would we be?  That reminds me, somebody said that "now" is an illusion and it made some sense.  I was going to ponder that but had forgotten about it.  I just bookmarked something.  Thanks Fatman!!!

Ok guyz!

What should be my target for the oct-jan bull run?

$1800 or $2500?

Just remove a zero from each number and you won't be disappointed.

I think everyone needs to think very carefully before making assumptions about continued lacklustre price movement. When bitcoin went from ~$25 to more than ~250 within a couple of months leading up to April 2013 many would have thought they would never see anything like that again. Those who sold out and didn't buy back in again when it went back below $100 would have been kicking themselves when the big boom happened that following November. Well we're in the same situation right now. If things start seriously unravelling with fiat (and indications are that this is going to happen; it's only a matter of when) there will be a race into PMs and crypto. It's entirely likely we could see another run up that will make the ~$1200 from Nov 2013 look like the $250 from April 2013 (i.e if it follows a typical logarithmic trajectory, a $10,000 ATH is not out of the question).

Bottom line: I would be very careful jumping in and out of BTC at the moment as it could suddenly take off and will catch many out.

I have very close to my ATH of holdings of crypto currencies and trying to buy back what I was recently forced to sell.

I believe at some point the usage and price will go up.

I just have no expectation when that will happen.  I don't even listen to the weather forecast.

I wanted to raise some awareness for a task that is still open, namely expanding the Moneropedia entries on the Monero website.

https://forum.getmonero.org/7/open-tasks/347/expand-moneropedia-entries-on-the-monero-website

This is quite an important task, since it will help a lot of newcomers.

If you are think you are capable to do this, please just pitch for it and ask a reasonable amount of funding. I am quite sure people are willing to fund this if the proposed price is reasonable.

P.S. Ginger's thread needs funding as well -> https://forum.getmonero.org/8/funding-required/2355/improved-nvidia-mining-software

I just posted an offer to work on and receive funding for the Moneropedia entries in the thread :

https://forum.getmonero.org/7/open-tasks/347/expand-moneropedia-entries-on-the-monero-website

I posted the following on the Monero forum..............

I'll start the ball rolling with a modest contribution of 15 XMR.

This is a start on an important aspect of Monero as it will enable new users to understand as well as use Monero. We need new users and I believe they will start coming once the new release happens "very soon". So the timing is right, right now!

Anybody willing to get fish slapped is OK by me.

2) I used some btc and am waiting 36 minutes so far for the first block confirmation.

3) I don't have a paid signature.

LOL, it is not about innovation, nor features. In the long term you need the masses. Monero had a great team and well that's it. Newcomers can do much better.

So much time passed but no broad acceptance... just think..

Current price is a great price to sell, which I did.

No hate intented, just being honest.

Mass acceptance would be nice, but if the devs wanted that they would have released an official gui. Obviously they dont want this. Until they do its fair to think of this project as being in beta. Its a little unfair to call it on not achieving mass acceptance before anyone has even tried to push for that. Some other amazing crypto currency that hasn't been invented yet but will be in the future also hasnt achieved mass acceptance yet, should we call it dead too?

True, however... not true. What's the intention of any Dev, in any field..

Not even btc has mass acceptance.  As far as Monero, both the devs and the community have kept me here for well over a year.  I like the intention of both of them as well as their actions.

And ofc what GingerAle said.
