Yeah... too much conspiracy.  More like simple math. It's blatantly obvious Eth is and has been wash traded by a single entity on Poloniex for literally months now. Their fee structure is setup where someone pushing that volume would have 0.10% taker fees and 0.0% maker fees, so 0.05% if wash traded.
On a slow Eth day of 20,000 BTC volume, that would be 100 BTC per day in wash trade fees. Does anyone honestly believe the Poloniex Eth manipulators pay that much? Hell no.

I haven't used coinbase this year. I stopped using then when they requested additional info to purchase btc. I transferred some btc off but left some on there which I can only attribute to being lazy and maybe a bit stupid. I just transferred my balance to a wallet of mine. When I did this I was asked if I was sending this to another exchange or service. I did not click on the question which would have provided an explanation of this request. My withdrawal was processed instantly. I feel so much better now.

If you don't have the private keys you don't have the btc. May I suggest using electrum wallet. You don't need to download the blockchain. When you set up a wallet a multi word seed is created. With that seed you can recreate your wallet on any computer at anytime. So it doesn't matter if your comp burns in a fire, just keep your seed(s) safe. I have my seeds in multiple locations People who I can put my life in their hands have access as well for if when something happens to me. You can have multiple wallets in the same program. It is very easy to use. If you don't have the private keys you don't have the btc. If you don't have the private keys you don't have the btc. If you don't have the private keys you don't have the btc. |

If the info given here is not what you are looking for may I suggest you try one of the many threads about it. However I don't know if you will find the simple you are looking for. As for the daily question, when is GUI? How should BTC go up when we now need to pay fees twice: Exchange fee and tx fee.... Or should we keep them on the exchanges infuture and risk the gox? I expect the BTC price to adjust to constant $ tx fees... S..t I guess it's better keeping it on the exchange as opposed to paying a $0.05 transaction fee. |

Several life times ago I moved out of a r0ach infested apartment. I washed and vacuumed everything before I placed those things in a box that had boric acid in it. I then sealed the boxes with tape. I then loaded up a rented truck and set off a few r0ach bombs. I did not open the truck till the following day. I moved the stuff in to the new place which was r0ach free, the whole neighborhood was r0ach free. Within a couple of days I saw r0aches. Maybe they came from one entity.

Yeah, every time you buy some BTC you want to tell us all about how long it takes to confirm. Probably better just to budget in 1-2 hours, rather than getting all chicken little excited about it for no reason.. Reminds me of your butty, BJA... Oh, by the way, where has BJA been lately? Probably not, because there still seem to be several stick-with-it fulblocaplypse converts continuing to preach the old dogma, and probably will continue all the way into the $600s and even into the $2,000s to suggest we are all doomed, we are doomed, etc etc. 1) not every time I buy btc just when it happens which is not often and only twice out of the dozens of transactions that occurred in the last couple of months. The first one was a payment where the sender for some reason used a standard fee on a transaction that was ~20 bigger than normal for whatever reason. This time it took 3 blocks for the fee stated which as I said means people are actually using btc because this indicated to me that it was not "spam" transactions that were filling the blocks. Yes btc actually gets used and I actually find it useful not merely speculative. 2) I don't believe I get chicken little excited about it, don't know how you came to that conclusion. I merely state facts with what I believe is little to no spin. Just because I am involved in the coin of my signature (unpaid it is) doesn't mean I will try to put btc in a negative light. 3) BJA my "butty"? Don't believe I ever engaged him. I guess people are actually using this bitcoin thing. wait what you can buy bitcoins from your "local store" what store? you sure you aren't buying a "money gram" which you later convert to BTC on the net or some shit? is the exchange rate any good? Appropriately a drug store (pharmacy) but it's mostly at stores that service cell phones. Rate is ~1/2% high plus 1% fee. Much better than an ATM. Hell Coinbase charges 1% when they deduct directly from your bank account and Circle with "no fees" has a worse bottom line rate. |
