Do you think that the current sudden and big monero pump, is just a precursor of an imminent large dump? Or maybe rather, ppl buy suddenly for some other reason?

Pump? we are at 52 cents.

But yes I agree things are different very recently.

1) anticipation of the results of development happening very soon.

2) whale games

3) followed by sheep/lemmings

As my fiat keeps evaporating I am just watching.
1182  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 17, 2015, 11:03:49 AM
Will Fed hike the rate today? (I don't think so).

And will the outcome be relevant to bitcoin price? How?

No interest rate hike which means nothing for btc.

If interest rate increases it affects the stock market immediately as higher returns are now possible from other investments.

1) When it happens there wouldn't be much of a rate hike to begin with.

2) The psychological impact of it after historical lows for many years will be unsettling.

3) Are the type of people who would move their money due to small changes in the interest rate really going to move to btc Huh Tongue

That's funny, from the time 8K was stated as bought by TC today till the 9K, or is it 10K was posted, I see no action at all on the Polo charts.

Edit: my 1.2 million is now 1.333

My last post was a bit more hopium than reality.

Strap on your fucking seatbelts people, this is it, the time is NOW.

At the top we have Bassica's view of his "last" post and on the bottom we have an excerpt of his new post. Roll Eyes Tongue Grin Kiss

May I suggest a psychologist instead of a psychiatrist so you don't end up unnecessarily using harmful drugs.

It would also make it possible to do therapy long distance.  Obviously person to person would be better, of course every situation is unique.

I am sure I could convince a very experienced, and IMHO an excellent psychologist, to accept Monero.

I guess I tuned in near the end of his talk not knowing who was speaking till the end.  I was very impressed by his clear and well organized way of talking.

Then there was one of the young guys from "lightning" with... like, uh, you know

I can barely read from cue cards Sad

new release is immediate, you can see it when looking at the github repo. master branch is freezed since 2 weeks now..
..

Isn't it enough that we have corrupted the meaning of "soon"?  Are you now trying to do it with "immediate"? Grin Grin

I actually just finished syncing and exiting my daemon minutes before you posted in anticipation of a release "soon".  My comp is weak and it took over 2 hrs to exit from the daemon.  Looking forward to the new release so I can easily move my 1.2 million Monero as I wish. Cool

I would love to buy more Monero now at these prices but alas I have been inundated with unique expenses lately.

When I had Monero on Polo I used to have asks impossibly high.  It is useful when one's cat walks across your keyboard.  She never sold but did once market buy Monero.

why dont you use the 0.9 beta binaries? they seem very stable to me. just give it 1 or 2 more weeks Smiley

2 reasons.  1) I was content to wait.  2) It is unclear to me now but I believe shortly after the beta binaries were available there were some changes to the code such that I decided to wait until all was set and released.

Thank you medusa13 Smiley

new release is immediate, you can see it when looking at the github repo. master branch is freezed since 2 weeks now, maybe they leave it like that some more time, but then this state will get released is my assumption. Dont know what this will do to price but it definitely wont hurt Grin

good time for a release. its time to show all the people what has been done and set a new standard.

btw many asks are fake, they are just parked there to prevent fat finger errors, 50% are above 0.004  Smiley

Any substantive discussion on scaling will have to wait until the Hong Kong portion of the show. https://twitter.com/jgarzik/status/642397611178217472

Looks like there's not gonna be any resolution this weekend. Another good reason to support XT.

We already knew there would not be a resolution this weekend, only the possibility of a resolution at the next conference in Dec(?)

But have no doubt there will be lots from this conference to speculate about regarding the various possibilities of resolution.

I can hardly wait Grin  CoolGrin

history unerringly flows in that direction which most cruelly rapes the "average person".

I wonder what else I missed during my 1 week away.  Still I will refrain from going back and reading.

My god, it's full of stars!
1192  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 10, 2015, 11:25:01 PM
I have been away for a week and I don't see how I can read the how ever many 100s of posts I missed.

Has anything important happened during that time?

Thank you
1193  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AEON 2nd gen cryptonote, anon, mobile-friendly, scalable, pruning on: September 09, 2015, 01:27:59 PM
New version (0.9.4.0)

Mandatory if you are currently using 0.9.2.0 or 0.9.3.0

Recommended for all users

In order to avoid any future problems like the one that happened to MoneroMooo's pool, this release reverts the recent changes to optimize blockchain memory usage and remove stuck tx key images. It is very likely that one of these changes (possibly in connection with some existing bug) caused Mooo's blockchain to become corrupt. Those changes are also present in the pruning test so I recommend discontinuing the test until further notice.

The other recent improvements such as fixing the mining speed on Windows, anonymity improvements, transaction fee, dust reduction, etc. remain in this version.

You will need to download a bootstrap from before the 0.9.2.0-0.9.3.0 changes or resync. Your existing blockchain will be ignored. Resyncing should be significantly faster than before in most cases. The older bootstraps from OP will likely work thought they will require a bit of syncing.

The pruning test branch has been updated to 0.9.4.0, so if you are using that you will need to fetch the update and recompile or wait for a new community-provided build.

Other changes in this release

Optimize sync speed in checkpoint zone
Update seed node list

https://github.com/aeonix/aeon/releases/tag/v0.9.4.0

I was using 0.9.1.1 and just updated to 0.9.4.0

I did not download a bootstrap but just opened it.  The blockchain had been up to date on 0.9.1.1.  My comp is relatively slow.  It went thru the checkpoints in one minute as well as "blockchain initialized. last block 604734"  and 2 minutes later it was synced.

Is that correct?  Was I supposed to delete any BIN files?
1194  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: August 30, 2015, 09:05:36 PM
soon has lost all of its original meaning.

I now take it to be the literal meaning of "anytime now".

As far as bananas, we are down to one species that can be shipped worldwide.  I have no idea what we will do when that one is also gone.

Are we nearly there yet?

As always we are here.

I used btc today.  Anybody else?
1196  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 29, 2015, 01:18:58 AM
First speculation, sort of.......

I spent the fiat from my recent sale of some btc.  I always spend all my fiat be it btc, altcoins (gasp  Shocked), women or necessities.  This time it was family.  Hopefully falling prices will coincide with fresh fiat.

As far as what it takes to run a node, I bought the 2nd cheapest comp I could find more than a year ago with the smallest HD which was 500 GB.  I have the btc blockchain on it as well as 2 altcoin blockchains (gasp  Shocked gasp  Shocked).  I have only used 109 GB of the HD.  I have no videos on it.   Bandwidth has been no issue and they recently upgraded my connection.  No router, hardwired.

So what are the hardware issues with btc?

What's going on? Something about a block size?

Does anyone have an opinion on that?

I have never stated an opinion about it. Undecided
