I have no experience with hard forks.  I have updated to 0.9.0.0

Is there anything else I need to do?

What should I expect?

That's all you need to do, unless you're mining, in which case you have to switch from cryptonight to cryptonight-light mining at block 592000. The switch should happen in about 18 hours IIRC, and should be automatic if you have the new daemon running.
You might see messages about blocks not accepted, etc, etc, these are fine if they're from non updated daemons you are connected to.

Yes I'm mining.  I would need windows binaries for a cryptonight-light miner in order to continue.

Would mining with simplewallet work?  Although that is difficult as the daemon/miner combo slows my anemic machine to the point that it has very limited use for anything else.

I posted this last Sunday and I still stand by it. We should be okay as long as we stay over $270.
I think we will and I expect August will be a good month for the bulls  Cool

FYI....The next target is not $300 it is actually ~$315 to complete the handle, anything less will not complete the pattern.

Agreed, but even if we don't break it on this little upswing and drop a bit this coming week we can still be okay as long as we stay above $270. If it takes some time to get over $315 that's fine as long as overall trend stays positive.

Somebody on bitfinex thinks the # is 277.12 lol

Minimum Payment Threshold: 0.050 AEON

The technical aspects I know little about.  It just seemed to me that the threshold is rather small and dusty.

i decided to launch a tiny aeon pool. it was first to educate myself and now i'm happy to make it public.

it's absolutely not an "official" aeon pool.

it's a personal initiative, i plan to admin it as a hobby. there's no specifically endorsement by the project (=aka smooth)
this pool is alive thanks to the help of MoneroMooo. he was really fairplay to share his knowledge with me for nothing. (and to be fully honest, without him, i was unable to setup my pool)

this pool will not be at same quality level as http://aeonpool.mooo.com (so don't move!) but it can be useful as failover pool.

The continuation is this way: http://52.8.47.33:8080/

The following is from the Payments page of your pool.  Is it as intended?

Minimum Payment Threshold: 0.050 AEON    Denomination Unit: 0.001 AEON

I used to be able to.  I can start threads, which I have to let it be known I am having issues.  Now waiting, it's all I can do.

I see your thread there; since you can't respond there, I'll ask here:

Have you tried a new user account or different PC? Those seem the most obvious isolation ideas.

Thanks for the suggestions.  Neither worked.

I had already tried 3 different browsers.

In case anybody was wondering luigi found the problem.  I am an idiot.

Thank you luigi1111

What ended up being the solution in case this problem happens to someone else?

Here on BCT you click reply and then write your post.  If you do that on Monero Forums you get the error "whoops something went wrong".  There you have to write your post and then hit reply,  Fluffypony said they were going to change the error handling, I guess to something more informative.

The thing is I used to know how to post on MF Tongue

Very interesting to see the anger at a website hosting a 10 btc freeroll and then announcing they will be holding more 10 btc freerolls.  I am very appreciative of having the opportunity to play in these freerolls and encourage Betcoin to keep up the good work.  The size of this freeroll was bigger than most other poker room freerolls and they have announced they will be doing this frequently.  I for one will hold them to this rather than complain about these opportunities.

It was a freeroll for those that don't play cash games at Betcoin Cool  Do you play cash games at Betcoin?

And some of us contribute to the freerolls by playing cash games and can never play them.  YW

I can understand why betcoin thinks they have a bbjp, and bbjp funds that the players should be given a shot to win.

But the truth is, there is no bbjp and there never was.  A progressive jackpot that has no way to be won is simply another fee or edge for the house.

Due to some programming issue, they have been over raking .01 mbtc extra out of every raked pot.

There are probably 20 or so players whos over charged funds make up a majority of that jackpot fund.  (I'm not suggesting I'm one of them)

On one hand, it's really not a big deal - betcoin rake is ridiculously small, and the overake is also ridiculously small. Also this giant freeroll was worth less than $5 in equity per player, you can find equal value on a daily basis elsewhere.

On the other hand, when you accidentally charge someone more than what was previously agreed, the only thing to do is return their money.

I feel the same as the anti collusion 10btc freeroll.

"Hey guys look we have all this money that should be yours, but due to someone cheating or a bug in our software, now we have it.  You don't mind if we just use it to promote our business instead of giving it back to you, right?"

In regard to the bolded.....it is 0.01 mbtc taken from every hand that goes to the flop whether it is raked or not.  I saw in a 0.01-0.02 game where 2 people saw the flop = a 0.04 pot and the 0.01 for the bbj was taken out.  The pot was too small for rake to be taken.

There is an issue for me on the Monero Forum that prevents me from replying to any thread and therefore cannot let anybody know about it there.

When I try to reply I get the following message: Whoops, looks like something went wrong.

Looks like GingerAle is doing some work on the "ABOUT MONERO" PAGE CONTENT there Smiley

you can also launch it via shortcut:

1. right click on simplewallet.exe
2. Select Create shortcut
3. right click on the newly created shortcut, choose properties.
4. in field 'Target', add
Code:
--restore-deterministic-wallet
in the end
it should llook something like this:
Code:
C:\xx\xx\monero.win.xxx\simplewallet.exe --restore-deterministic-wallet
save it

5. doouble click on the shortcut.
6. it will ask you for wallet name
7. it will ask you for wallet passwort. be carefull there since you can not see what you type and you can also only set it once (should be more userfriendly, at least double check pw to prevent errors)
8. it will ask you for seed
9. maybe you need to refresh when wallet was created, maybe it refresh and scans blockchain by itself, i cant remember

hope it helps

maybe you try to run simplewallet exe from somewhere else, it will know where to find the blockchain by itself

When I first tried I got the same problem where I was not allowed to run the program.

In my Bitmonero folder I have monero.win.x64.latest, blockchain, p2pstate, poolstate and simplewallet.  This was the simplewallet I tried and it did not work.

When I opened monero.win.x64.latest there is another simple wallet application and this worked.

Thanks everybody Smiley

Hello, is there any way to see the type of tournaments that are offered before installing the software? Like how many freerolls a day, fees, buy-ins, GTD tournaments etc.
I'm starting to try out some poker rooms, but I like to get some info on them before installing software etc, because if they don't have what I like there is no point in installing and creating an account.

Thank you!

It takes 2 minutes to download and and open an account and you will then get an accurate view of what you are looking for.

They have freerolls every 90 minutes.  Mostly 5 chip ones with some 15 and 25 chip ones as well.  For the larger ones you need to earn 1 krill which is easy to do.  You earn krill by playing tournaments or cash games.  Yes they have GTD tournaments.  Most tournament buyins are from 1 to 20 chips with some larger ones as well.

1000 chips = 1 btc.

Navigate to the folder where you have simplewallet.exe, but don't open it. Hold shift and right-click on folder and select "Open command window here", and then type exactly what myagui suggested:
Code:
simplewallet.exe --restore-deterministic-wallet

I received an error earlier which I don't remember and just tried again as I finished work.  Now my PC (windows 8.1) won't let it run.  I get something on my monitor as well as the following in the command window, "Access is denied."

After shift+R click I was at AppData\Roaming\Bitmonero>

I'm not running the daemon

Yes windows.  Started simple wallet and put in "simplewallet --restore-deterministic-wallet" and what I got was "The wallet doesn't exist, generating a new one" Huh

The way you are doing it, you are opening up simplewallet without any parameters, then asking it to open a wallet file, by the name of simplewallet --restore-deterministic-wallet.
What you should do instead, in a command prompt, or by editing the shortcut properties if you are using a shortcut, is have simplewallet executed along with the parameter that was explained:

simplewallet.exe --restore-deterministic-wallet

Simplewallet will then ask you for the seed words, and a wallet file name, which it will then (re)create.

I did it many months ago but don't remember how I did it, only that it was simple to do.

What you wrote was very clear.  The only problem is I am ignorant so I would need too know how to do it in a command prompt.  As far as using a shortcut, I just start simplewallet from the folder in AppData>Roaming>Bitmonero

Edit: windows 8.1

How to recreate wallet from seed?  The help command was of no help.

you have to load simplewallet with

Quote
./simplewallet --restore-deterministic-wallet

or in windows drop the ./

yeah, within simplewallet there's probably nothing.

Yes windows.  Started simple wallet and put in "simplewallet --restore-deterministic-wallet" and what I got was "The wallet doesn't exist, generating a new one" Huh
