My only conclusion can be that neither price nor hash rate matters.
It certainly matters for the purposes of mark-to-market valuation.  I consider these points non-controversial:

- A higher price attracts miners.
- More miners means higher difficulty.
- Higher difficulty means that a miner cannot profitably unless price is above a (higher) level.
- Miners who sell unprofitably tend to leave the market quickly.

Inference:  The floor ("quantum foam") price will rise when difficulty rises.

- A gradually rising price attracts holders.
- Holders attract entrepreneurs.
- Entrepreneurs build the economy.
- An expanding economy supports price appreciation.

Inference:  Supporting the floor price by mining is strongly in the interests of large holders, and indeed in the interests of everyone who can benefit from the personal freedom and security which Monero enables, i.e. all of mankind.

In conclusion:  Virtuous feedback cycles are virtuous.  If you are a good person, you are a Monero miner.

Should a good person mine with a bad computer?  Bad = 35 H/s

If yes then, solo mine or pool?

Bid side is shaping up decently. Reversal in the making here? Lil' slingshot would be nice.

Just when our #2 poster comes back from a hiatus Cool

What's the current inflation rate of Monero? When does it drop below 4%?

Never.

Let's change that 12%

aztecminer, I believe it's a conspiracy.  Everytime btc is down I have no fiat and when it rises I do have fiat.  Given the fact that I can't hodl onto fiat makes my entries into btc less than ideal.  I received extra fiat this Tuesday most of which was obligated to go into a 17+% annual yield investment.  With most of the rest I have been chasing btc the past 2 days Tongue

I am resolute to hodl this btc and not change it into its' evil twin  Cool

I think this is the part where everyone runs around confused and most people get fucked over.

This is the part where I buy @ 310 because China is at 328

Please Please don't follow me as I am cluless

pumping bitcoin for marshal's auction would be a typical obama strategy..... huge money grab...
(blahblahblahblah...)

Are you drunk or stupid or both?

yeah right... bitcoin is rising cuz.... bitcoin................... stop brushing your teeth with fluoride and maybe your vision will clear enough to see past the bs.

Yeah, 'cause "[a] foreign substance is introduced into our precious bodily fluids without the knowledge of the individual. Certainly without any choice.".

"Don't give your essence to those that seek it."

I'll take that to mean hodl.

Oh wow $314 on bitcoinwisdom!!
This baby can make a small break please.
What do you think how far will we go today?
Yesterday we were around $306-$307 and stayed around 300 at midnight. This morning (CET) we were back to 305.And now at 314.
Some will take profits soon I believe.

Actually, I was tempted to do so when each coin is valued at $305 each yesterday. I woke up to see $310 tonight and I'm glad I didn't pull that move. I just hope it won't pop soon.

Yes people other than tarmi were saying it was probably a good time to take profits days ago when we were at 270.  I kept an eye on it but look what happened.  I didn't take profit but instead bought at 289 and again yesterday at 303.  Now I think I will take profits @ $31,998

All this talk of price suppression.  After not being able to leave the 130s we just had a spike to 0.001539 after strong buys throughout the day.

This is after my final bid got filled while I slept last night Smiley

The professor thinks btc is a ponzi.  Then we here about a real big ponzi, MMM.  I'm not satisfied with this btc ponzi.  I want a better ponzi so I'm joining MMM.  Let's see, first step is buy some btc.  Just did and I didn't even look at the price.  Thanks professor Smiley
1070  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 28, 2015, 01:30:04 AM
I couldn't resist. I've started moving from USD into altcoins today. It's going to take a few weeks to move in because of the low liquidity anyway.

I know you've been hodling back so this is significant and I wish you the best.  (I actually tried to type holding but I'll leave the typo)

You say altcoins, plural.  I assume you are buying Monero, but are you buying others as well?  No need to specify.

Is this the reason my bids weren't filled today?  Cheesy
1071  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 27, 2015, 01:01:16 AM
Bitstamp bid support is growing like a boss. Love it.

Exactly what we need to ramp up to higher prices.

Sorry for the newb question... but where can I see instant transactions taking place on multiple exchange sites at once?

You can also take a look at this:

Thanks for this Smiley
$291.14 will now be memorialized.
1072  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 26, 2015, 04:31:18 PM
Someone is having a bit of fun on the Polo bid side.  They have places 1-2 XMR bids starting at 133200 and increasing by 1 satoshi all the way up to 133400 and a few a bit above that.  Somebody must be bored.

I haven't bought on Polo for quite a while but instead mostly on Bittrex.  When you are on Bittrex you need to have Polo opened because Bittrex follows every move of Polo's almost instantaneously.  Dump on Polo = bids on trex pulled etc.

While taking a work break  Grin  it seems one of my bids filled.

1073  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 26, 2015, 01:07:52 PM
I would say you is in "quotation marks" because your identity is a construct of whatever your brain's configuration is at any moment in time--do I get a prize if my answer is correct?

I suppose that is a piece of the puzzle.

Thank you smooth for you indulgence.  I believe icebreaker started an off topic thread a while ago that either went nowhere or was deleted by the powers.

Just missed one of my bids that is above 132.  This feels like the bottom although as I've said before I am clueless.  These bids are for the furnishings of my Monero house and could be used for a prize although the best prizes are knowledge and understanding.

Time to do a bit of work while I wait for my bids to be filled.  Thank you all for being here.
1074  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 26, 2015, 12:02:29 PM
looks like the monero boys are smokin' good herb this week .... nice!

I'm calling 0.001333 as the bottom for this cycle

Damn my lowest bid is 132

Ok back on topic,

Live forever?  Remember the only reason "you" are here is because people, actually all life, dies.  It seems even the universe will as well.  Bonus question, why is you in quotes.

Rich?  I have never missed a meal in my life except by choice.  I have spent 61 days, 16 hours and 38 minutes logged into BCT.  I have a cat on my lap as I write this and I am at work.

I have not been able to smoke good herb for 13 years.

happy to oblige. today I saw a vanity license plate that said TEAMBEAR

Sounds like tarmi. Was it a Yugo?

No it was a nice German car.  It was in New York so maybe they work for Bear Sterns, oh wait.

Trip report on running the windows 0.9 beta for the past week or two.  Other than the known issue of needing to type exit 2 separate times in order to exit it has been running smoothly.  It has been using <40MB memory Smiley

I've been on the latest Windows beta for ages now, have done quite a few transactions, no issues at all here.
On exit, the daemon looks to have a wait right after stopping some network function. I don't ever need to type exit 2 times. I just type exit once, then after a few seconds, I just hit enter again.

Yes that worked, Thanks Smiley

In my final attempt to quell the rally I just bought with whatever spare change I could find.  It's been a couple of months since I last checked the couch.  This is in preparation for fresh fiat arriving the end of this week.

When be the correction?
