Thank you for continuing the discussion. It is unfortunate that several of you are misinformed, ignorant or otherwise unwilling to consider a broader perspective or a different point of view. I understand that it is not you personally who is at fault, but that the society and culture at large has failed you, indeed it has failed all of us. You are fearful of that which you do not understand, and it is in that cage of fear that you lash out from, and feel the most secure inside of. It is exactly where the dominant people of the world want you to be. I ask you to break free from your ignorance and fear and learn that you can live a life outside of that cage. You can help the world become a better place by recognizing the limitations of your own ideas and beliefs and learning to go beyond them. You may believe that your arguments are against me, but in reality they are against yourselves. They reveal the limitations of your imagination and your own ignorance of your environment. I cannot provide every answer to the questions you pose, nor can any one person ever do so. What is important to the future of our species is that we ask these questions of ourselves, and collaboratively come up with the answers to them.

We can have a technological society that provides for every human need and preserves the environment that supports us if we choose to have it. Please make that choice. You are the only one who can make it happen.
262  Economy / Economics / Re: Would widespread Bitcoin adoption reduce global economic growth? on: November 04, 2013, 01:18:52 AM
I hope so! "Economic growth" is a distracting and distorting metric that says nothing of the health of society nor its environment. In fact, the greater economic growth, the worse off the world is, because the system rewards inefficiency, overconsumption and severe deprivation and inequality. Bitcoin seems to discourage frivolous spending and since it's immune to inflation, can't encourage or create world economy destroying bubbles.

The meaning of life is the assignation of meaning to arbitrary phenomena.

Dear Wikipedia,

If you do not start accepting bitcoin, we, the bitcoin community, will conflate every media story and mention of Wikipedia with Wikileaks and Julian Assange, and vice versa.

Regards,

Speak for yourself. Don't include me on that "community" of "we" you talk about.

Ode to ChartBuddy, welcome back
(With apology to Sting-I'll be watchig you)

Every coin I stake
And every move you make
Every high you break
Every wall they fake
Ill be watching you

Every single day
And every move I pray
That my coins will stay
Through the night OK
Ill be watching you

Oh, cant you seeeeeee
Coins belong to meeeee
Now my poor heart aches
With every coin they take

Every chart you make
Every bank you break
Every pattern they fake
Every coin I stake
Ill be watching you

Since you've gone, I've been lost in this rat race
I dream at night, I can only watch this place
I look around but its you I cant replace
I feel so bold and I long for gap retrace
I keep crying chartbuddy please....

Oh, cant you see
Coins belong to me
Now my poor heart aches
Every coin you take

Every coin I stake
And every move you make
Every bond you break
Every wall they fake
Ill be watching you
Ill be watching you
Ill be watching you

Someone record this. Than I can add it to the play list with classics such as: "The Proudhon song (Bitcoin is a bubble)", "Bitcoin Rap", "Blame it on Mt. Gox", "Holding for the longest time" and of course the infamous "Cyprus Anthem" Smiley

I have also had a weird thing where my clock was ~30 mins off. I don't know if it is related to bitcoin though. Bitcoin doesn't have access to set the system time I'm assuming.

Looking forward to the evolution of the process next time. Attack ads with ominous music, flyers with the wrong voting dates and locations, voter intimidation, purging of the rolls, all that good stuff.

I am not working on making the system obsolete. With the advent of the blockchain the system HAS BECOME obsolete, finally.

So by that theory, you must think libraries are also obsolete as the advent of the internet? Well you are extremely wrong in both cases. System has not become obsolete, it has just has to adopted like it has in the past. I swear this sounds like something that Admir would say. Extremist like this are making it harder for legal business owners who pay taxes and still enjoys the fruits of bitcoins to exist. No one in the foundation should be this extremist, this will hurt the foundation and all the little work they have done. This makes the system think we are an enemy and most of us aren't. Also we wouldn't like to be label such as one.

The system is your enemy whether you know it or not.

One can not faithfully serve two masters, at least not in the long run.

Just spicing it up with a little ad hominem:
Which one of your masters will you serve in the long run, Zeitgeist or Venus?

I've gone through the trouble of flipping through a few pages of your post history here, let me request that you leave your political agenda out of this discussion, if you want talk about the Bitcoin Foundation.

Fortunately their goals and methods are not significantly orthogonal, so I am comfortable talking about both. In the long run, the Zeitgeist Movement may prove to be more significant in terms of social influence due to its broader perspective.

I find it odd that you ask me a direct question and then contradict yourself by telling me I should not talk about that question's subject.
