I no longer see my ignorance rating under my avatar on my posts or in my profile. Did something change?
322  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: DATA - Authority or Association? on: August 06, 2013, 07:06:33 AM
The only thing they can try to regulate and regiment is human behavior, which has been wildly successful given the control over culture that they have enjoyed for decades. Now, not so much.

I'm announcing a new organizational effort to combat this latest tyrannical regime threatening the bitcoin revolution.

Transactions Against Despotic Authority

To participate, simply send bitcoins to one of my wallet addresses. The overwhelming number of transactions will indicate such widespread dissent that DATA will have no choice but to concede defeat.

It will be like magic.

TADA!

Sorry to see it go. It was one of the better pools out there when I first started using it. Best charting around and merged mining was nice. I hope Ogrr is doing alright.

They're going to have an AMA on the reddits tomorrow, if anyone is interested. Bitcoin and the Hockett issue are the top two questions at the moment.
328  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BitCoins for Edward Snowden. on: August 02, 2013, 12:57:12 AM
So how does this XKeyscore thing work ... is it like a credit rating ... to see how close to being a terorist anyone person might be?

http://www.theguardian.com/world/2013/jul/31/nsa-top-secret-program-online-data

Quote
A top secret National Security Agency program allows analysts to search with no prior authorization through vast databases containing emails, online chats and the browsing histories of millions of individuals, according to documents provided by whistleblower Edward Snowden.

The NSA boasts in training materials that the program, called XKeyscore, is its "widest-reaching" system for developing intelligence from the internet.

I bet it is built on top of linux ...

Correct!

330  Economy / Economics / Re: Zeitgeist: Moving Forward on: July 29, 2013, 03:50:56 PM
We live on one "centralized" planet. Of course our resources, at first, are centralized in that sense. But the intelligent distribution and utilization of resources for the benefit of all people is something that is possible without engaging in the destructive value system of an invalid monetary game. People will value what their culture tells them to value, because people are not born with preconceived notions of how to live. Creating an environment in which we care for eachother instead of engaging in false competition will allow for wider adoption of better values, enabling a better world for all people.
331  Economy / Economics / Re: Zeitgeist: Moving Forward on: July 29, 2013, 06:13:45 AM
He's probably confusing Moving Forward with the Zeitgeist movie that came before it, which although I haven't seen, I understand to pretty much be about conspiracies.

It's an interesting film. Highly recommended.

01 = 1
10 = 2
11 = 3

If 01 + 10 = 11 = 3,
Then why doesn't 01 + 11 = 12 = 4?

Because math is rigorous, regardless of base.

I wonder how many people nominate Trendon Shavers.
334  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: July 29, 2013, 04:27:02 AM

are you directly involved in the venus project? i remember stumbling upon it a few years ago

I'm a local coordinator for the Zeitgeist Movement, which was ostensibly the activist arm of the Venus Project. I continue to advocate for the intelligent management of resources for the benefit of all people.
335  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: July 29, 2013, 04:02:37 AM
Coincidence.

Bitcoincidence.

I'm disappointed in you Phinnaeus.

337  Economy / Economics / Re: Occupy Money Cooperative - A new non-bank financial cooperative debit card thing on: July 28, 2013, 06:46:02 PM
So I've been reading up on this Robert Hockett guy, and it is definitely not comforting. He essentially calls for a global fiat currency, blames monetary/government policy for unemployment (instead of technological unemployment, which is the real cause) and his pedigree is that of an IMF contractor who now writes for US policy think tanks. The page claims that he's been with the Occupy movement at the very beginning, but I seriously doubt that this guy is interested in solving economic problems, and is instead trying to profit off of and mislead the movement. I doubt he would be a big fan of bitcoin due to it's non-state affiliation and inherent deflationary properties. It's unfortunate that the Occupy Movement has not learned that the problems and injustices they fight against are inherent to the underlying monetary system they seem to be in favor of reforming.

perhaps you should write him to consider how we see it, in a way that considers how he currently sees things Sad what a terrible thing to let ignorance breed more ignorance
or perhaps he's COINTELPROing Occupy considering his pedigree, in which case...idk man. i read this occupy pamphlet that was passed to me by this old black man who didn't really seem like he knew what was going on anymore and was simply zombied out, and it was the most inane illegible nonsense. it was so bad it had to be a hit piece on the occupy movement. but who knows. i wish i still had a copy to share

see #2 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/COINTELPRO#Methods

I would like to ask him directly, but I can't find a twitter account or any other social media information on this supposed "social movement" leader. I'm not really interested in emailing him directly.
338  Economy / Economics / Re: Zeitgeist: Moving Forward on: July 28, 2013, 06:41:25 PM
Nothing new, move along people. Another worthless conspiracy theory.

Shifting the global culture to one that has positive life sustaining values if worthwhile. Perhaps you are ignorant of what the film is about.
