2821  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Crypto moving into world. Algo sponsor FIFA on: May 04, 2022, 03:18:58 AM
World football’s governing body confirms collaboration with green blockchain technology company Algorand
Algorand will become the official blockchain platform of FIFA
Partnership announced by FIFA President Gianni Infantino and Algorand founder Silvio Micali in Los Angeles, USA
FIFA has teamed up with blockchain technology company Algorand to agree a sponsorship and technical partnership deal.

The agreement means Algorand will become the official blockchain platform of FIFA and provide the official blockchain-supported wallet solution. As per the sponsorship agreement, Algorand will be a FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ Regional Supporter in North America and Europe, and a FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023™ Official Sponsor.

The recent AFCON was sponsored by Binance. Blockchain network Algorand (ALGO) will sponsor FIFA, you can read more information about this on the quote or click on the link on the quote for the full news information. Crypto related businesses are getting more into the real world, this will favour Algo but also cryptocurrencies is becoming the trend in the world. What do you people see about this, with this more people will also know about cryptocurrencies.

Oh wow, great news for ALGO indeed! I was curious as to why the ALGO price was spiking but had not taken a gander at the news yet. But this definitely is wonderful news and I even think I might invest in ALGO and see how things go until the end of the year.

Did they mention when exactly the partnership would be decided and when we got to know more about the details of the actual implementation?

Bitcoin is definitely being supported currently, even during dippy times as now, by the ALGO news! Who knows, it might counterbalance the LUNA FUD Cheesy

2822  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Horse Racing and Gambling on it should be banned on: May 04, 2022, 03:07:10 AM
I was spending some time with my friends parents and there was not only a huge party but all of them placed p2p bets on the horse racing. They asked me to come over as well, the ending was deeply sad and essential to cover : The horse died after winning of a heart attack.

The horse was presenting signs of heart attack on the camera but no one was actually even giving it a second thought and at the end when it was the last lap, all the horses got whipped excessively hard as well. That gets me to my point "why do you support horse racing?" This is honestly far to cruel to continue.

According the this site: https://www.horsedeathwatch.com/background.php they have seen more than 2000 deaths in around 5500 days. Most of the horses die during the match as well, they also have instances where they are exploited using drugs (doping).

Are you aware that most of the horses go through slaughter as well? Some of them have very bad injuries making them not even the least bit useful for the business therefore they are killed without second thought. I do hope people would get more aware and try and steer away from *horse racing*.

That does indeed sound overly cruel to the horse but then again if we look at ourselves as humans and see what horrors we are commiting against other living creatures then its nothing out of the ordinary.

If an alien race saw us doing the things that we do to animals, especially animals that we kill to eat then that alien race would probably stay as far as possible away from the human race.

Its still a tragedy though. Horse racing is definitely one of the many horrors we commit on other life.
2823  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How can you verify the randomness that's coming from a hardware? on: May 02, 2022, 10:10:59 PM
Unfortunately even with entropy as low as in the super-cooled superconductors of quantum computers you would still hit the wall for physical measurements that we call Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle.

You can generate the randomness artificially with mathematics and code alone, yes. Low entropy would be technically impossible to detect if you ignore the physics perspective and don't create your randomness generator with only a few lines of code and a limited output or input.
Or fortunately that quantum computers have this as a problem, leaving security for all of banking!

I think there are a few different questions here:
1) What is random enough to provide security for generational wealth?
2) What is the most random system that you could ever create?
3) Are there sources that we think are random that could ever be backtraced or controlled?
4) Even if you have a purely random source, how do you ensure a flat spectral density?

It doesn't take much to make something be impossibly random.
I recommend a very different style of book, "A Short Stay in Hell", which deals with a man who has to overcome randomness to get out of hell.

Unfortunate for the curious  Grin
Interesting questions indeed. I will try a stab at them but I am sure everyone else in the Development & Technical Discussion subforum knows a lot more about it than me. So take my answers with a grain of salt.

1. I think you can make anything infinitely random but that all means nothing if someone reads your code to understand how the randomness is generated. So your randomness is only as good as your security.
2. Perhaps data from as many high entropy sources as possible for the input and a multitude of security layers? I really don't know how to express something as truly random so I have no idea. Huh
3. For example weather. Even with current technology we cannot accurately predict the weather. Nobody technically knows if next week will be 1 degrees hotter or colder than predicted. Although it can be easily guessed/predicted due to the fact there are not many viable temperature numbers to choose from.
4. Not sure. Perhaps by adding white noise to the intensity in discrete time sequences?

edit: Thanks for the book recommendation. Sound interesting.
2824  Economy / Gambling / Re: How to get Free games in china? on: May 02, 2022, 08:32:16 PM
Hello,everyone !
This is my first time to post on bitcointalk。
I come from china ,my English is not good ,most time,i need Google translate, thanks this invention。
I have read a lot of artcles here,i visited some online gaming websites, and test bcgame, stakes, free bitcoin etc, crash and mines are perfect games , i really love them!
Cryptocurrency let me enjoyed the funny on these gaming website.

A few years ago, when i could play real money on Pokerstars in china , its so difficult  to withdraw,
I need to sell my usd to other players,  a smart guy invent an application named”poker master ”
People could creat free club and invite friends play poker(gamble) together

I’m a stupid kid , so i have a question want to get somes good answers from smart guys ,
Why nobody creat a free casino website and let us creat club on it ?
Its different meaning  with affiliate.
Website could charge some money from club admin even margin(limit bet figure)!
If this club admin is a scammer ,you could help their players recoup lost or not !
Club’s players deposit/withdraw  money(cryptocurrency)  to admin.
You can provide payment api to admins and make money.
Some big rewards games like lottery  you can control it by own website not clubs
People could buy lottery by your token or other coins.
I’m not sure,it’s worth to test or not . Or even have someone are doing it
Let me know the result please
In the end , thanks everyone’s answers if you would give me some good ideas

Hello chinese friend. Welcome to our forum! We hope you enjoy your time with us.

I have read your text and as far as I understand it, you could make a trustless version of what you describe. Or at least a community-vote based DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organisation) with the use of smart contracts.

So the question of needing to trust the club admin with the money is unnecessary, I would think. Unfortunately I am no smart contract developer that understands what conditions would need to be met for such a DAO to even be possible.

I think you might find an answer to that if you ask in the project development subforum. Lots of experienced developers are in that subforum.
2825  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Bitcoin in 401k? What could we expect? on: May 02, 2022, 07:18:16 PM
Anyone is concerned if there will be an issue when bitcoin is in our 401k?

I found this article is helpful to understand that correlation, so be careful!

Check it out:
https://sites.google.com/view/bitcoin401k/home

401k's are scammy bullcrap. I would invest my money into the future instead of letting it sit and lose value due to inflation and other problems that only holding fiat money can have. Bitcoin to me is the best current investment but if you are one of those "don't put all your eggs into one basket" type of people, which would be smart because you divide the risk up, then I would still recommend finding different investments to put your fiat in.

Why anyone would simply hold their fiat and wait for retirement is a mystery to me. Huh Roll Eyes Roll Eyes
2826  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The Paradox of Gambling behavior on: May 02, 2022, 06:13:40 PM

Your story is very interesting, and it really is the purest truth.

Sports games are hard to miss, but the profits there are few.
Card games are fun and I believe that those who know how to play poker can make a lot of money there too.

On the other hand, roulette, dice and other games I consider in the same category as the lottery, as they depend exclusively on luck, not on the player's skills... it's money to spend without feeling sorry for losing.
the reason why I focus more on developing skills and knowledge in sports betting even though the profit I get is small is that I want my finances to be more organized

I can't play cards (I've tried to learn but it doesn't suit me) but I'm also tired of playing dice and slots (I lose a lot of money every time I do that)

For me, currently focusing on sports betting is the best choice

If I were you I would also narrow down sports into specific subcatagories and see which categories of online sports gambling suit me best. I personally prefer boxxing and do not watch enough football to care about the stats and odds of certain players. But then again that disinterest should be seen as one of my weaknesses as I would have more gambling opportunities if I learned more about various other things.

But at the end of the day, it all depends mostly on luck anyhow. So not much point in being too hung up on details and strategies. Thats just my personal thinking though. Huh Huh
2827  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Hard earned money - Busted in seconds on: May 02, 2022, 12:57:55 PM
It was almost two months hard earned money. Got busted in few minutes. I don't know why I wasn't able to have me within the limits. Just started with a $3 bet, but it went upto $98 and ended with empty wallet. This is completely unlucky, because every bets were placed to roll above 20 which means the winning probability is quite high. Anyhow I wasn't in control and I didn't follow the rule gamble what you can afford to loss. It was a money saved to repay a debt. Now once again the interest needs to be paid so to manage the debt for some more time. Unlucky me  Sad Sad Sad

I think we have all gone through that very same experience as you have described in the quoted post.

It really sucks to lose, and whenever I am going from a winning streak towards a losing streak, what I do is manipulate myself into thinking that if I can try again and again then I will somehow magically force myself back into the winning streak. And of course with such a "winners mentality" one cannot help but keep adding larger sums of money to the bets in order to make ones original sum back. Its a frustrating cycle which nobody cannot win against.

Sorry to hear about your financial loss :S
2828  Economy / Gambling / Re: What is a game you would like to see in an online crypto casino? on: May 02, 2022, 12:21:37 AM
Hey Bitcointalkers,

What games do you like to play (mobile, board games, easy game with friends, etc.) that you would love to see put into an online casino for real betting?

There have been a lot of successful yet simple games in online casinos like Heads or Tails, Over/Under, and more. We are looking to see what games you guys love and wonder if we can turn them into an online betting game!

I want to see mortal kombat II and IV Cheesy

I think we do not see too many gambling over fighting games that tickle that feeling of nostalgia for old school gamers. Even Mario games can have gambling odds for each player. We could for example bet on who can do a faster speedrun. The possibilities are endless!

The feeling of nostalgia is totally missing in the gambling world and it needs to be brought in!

Although you might find problems as far as copyright laws or similiar laws go. Im no expert there.
2829  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How can you verify the randomness that's coming from a hardware? on: May 01, 2022, 11:43:29 PM
Check out this thread started by nullius: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5326468.0

The problem with randomness is that you don't know whether something isn't random until there has been enough data measured and checked.

Even though you can't verify randomness, you could combine multiple sources of randomness to make it "more random" as long as your combination algorithm isn't causing additional bias and your sources are independent. The best route imo is to color one kind of randomness with other kinds of randomness. If one sensor is mostly random, then are two sensors more random? You could color your hardware randomness with a memory-given random seed generated from a second location, and the combined number would probably be just a little bit more random if used correctly.

So, how do we verify that the hardware doesn't generate predictable entropy, regardless of whether the wallet developers have bad intentions or not? I don't care about the OS, let's assume you use an open-source one; my focus is on those who build the hardware that is used to generate randomness.

Predictable entropy? Not sure I understand? Like the rate of oxidation on microelectronic metal pins which can mess with the electrical flow in such ways that one could possibly guess which metals were being used in the chip or something and use that info to identify the part?

If predicting entropy is your game then from a physics perspective, that is impossible to tell at a certain tiny point but at a larger scale can be perhaps easier. But never with 100% accuracy.

Predictable entropy could be low entropy? It would encompass measurements of distribution, determinism, and independence.

One kind of predictability would be the distribution. There could be different random distributions: pink, brown, grey, etc noise are all types of noise and perfectly independent and random, but don't all have the same exact entropy. You would want a flat frequency spectrum, all values equally possible over all periods of time. "Random" is itself not the desired factor, but flatly distributed random with independence.

A predictably random distribution could also be something like Pi, which is dependent and deterministic, but is it random? Depends on the definition? Irrational numbers like pi are perfect examples of "predictable entropy". Pi looks entirely random. Pi is evenly distributed for each of 0-9 to 1,000,000,000,000 digits. There are no correlations with its own sequences of numbers as far as can be detected (https://doi.org/10.1080/00031305.2000.10474501). Pi is a deterministic sequence that will be calculated again and again as computers get more powerful. The gaps between prime numbers also come to mind as a predictable randomness.

I know it sounds paranoid, but I don't know what to answer if one ever made me such question. Like, sure, most of the hardware is very unlikely to have this kind of weakness, but what about hardware wallets? They're designed for solely transacting bitcoins and their random number generator, as in all hardware, isn't apparent.
..
If you are using a dice roll to generate a seed, you should care more than just that each outcome has the same probability. You also care that a particular outcome does not affect the next outcome, in other words, that each outcome is independent of all other outcomes.
It's not entirely paranoid. There was a flaw in a javascript code generating random numbers in some early addresses:
https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/old-javascript-crypto-flaw-puts-bitcoin-funds-at-risk/

You could use dice rolls, but you have to not influence the distribution with how you calculate the number. If you were to use a 6 sided dice, you could roll the dice log_6(2^256)= 99.03 times and convert a base-6 number to a 256-bit number.

If you wanted to be even more random - evenly distributed and independent - with dice, you could get a 20-sided dice but then collect the data in base-2 by saying every even number was 1 and odd number was zero, rolling it 32*16 times, and then converting that 32*16 bit number to a 32 hex / 64 byte character representation. This would reduce the bias towards any particular number. Obviously a bit of work, but this gets around that you might possibly have a small non-flat distribution in your dice rolls.

-

As for hardware, it depends on whether you need future randomness or something where you can control the historical randomness. Every system has flaws that prevent randomness in a very controlled future scenario.

There isn't anything that could be purely random without influence under the most controlled of circumstances (except maybe radioactivity, and that's a maybe). If you built your system off of thermal randomness, then I could cool your system. Radiofrequency waves? I could put your system in a shielded room. Even with radioactive decay, it's random but not a flat-spectrum and has exponential decay distributions. I'm not entirely convinced that it's always random - there are reports (which could be wrong) that radioactive decay is influenced by our distance from the sun http://arxivblog.com/?p=596 . Physics is such a beast that there could be a discovery on how to make radioactive decay not-random.

but if it's a fair dice then it's probably close enough.
I agree with your "it's close enough" here. If you have 128 bytes of complete entropy that no computer can crack for trillions of years, then do you need 10,000 bytes of entropy? Maybe, but hopefully not! At some point, we all make a choice as to what is good enough based on competing costs.

You can always be more random, independent, and evenly distributed. But where is good enough?

Unfortunately even with entropy as low as in the super-cooled superconductors of quantum computers you would still hit the wall for physical measurements that we call Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle.

"Decoherence and the Appearance of a Classical World in Quantum Theory" by H. D. Zeh is a great related-topic read, I recommend it.

From a mathematical perspective, random is defined as: different events are observed following identical initial circumstances. Currently such a definition of random cannot exist within our deterministic laws of physics.

You can generate the randomness artificially with mathematics and code alone, yes. Low entropy would be technically impossible to detect if you ignore the physics perspective and don't create your randomness generator with only a few lines of code and a limited output or input.

So I think that the point of entropy detection is moot.

there is my story
i have around 1800 ada and 1900 usdt in the account
on my phone with the app im connected since 1 months
today they limit me, so if tennis odds is 1.65 they will give me only 1.40
i decided to withdraw
i make few withdraw for my ada everything smooth

now i try to withdraw 100 usdt
i wait 30 min ... and im log out ...
found this weird ...
and when i try to reconnect ... they say INVALID PASSWORD or username
its save automatically so it can be wrong ..

and the most funny ... when i try to do recovery password ... i never receive the code they should send me
so now i have 1800 usdt gone ...

of course when i reach the customer service they say please contact security@1x-bit.com

but last time i text them they never answer ....
i want to cry

I am sorry for your monetary loss, I hope you can get it back as soon as possible.

But the fact that you did not do your own research on this online gambling casino, which has scam accusation threads and red flags attributed to it, is a bit more worrying. If you don't research who's hands you are placing your money in, then losing that money was going to happen one way or another.

Next time stay away from bad online gambling casinos like 1xbit. That is the only sound advice I believe that I can give you.

As a non-American, what's the deal with having a President that's +70 years old? I mean, Biden is 79 and Trump is 75. I'm not taking sides, I'm as anti-government as it gets, but what the f*ck is up with that? Having someone that can barely pee by himself having the most powerful position in the world?

That's nothing. Have you seen Nancy Pelosi? She looks like she is 120. She is third in line and also was during the Trump years.

Over here in the UK they may be younger but they are also a hell of a lot more incompetent and that includes opposition parties. If any of that were even possible. We have a finance minister (chancellor of exchequer) who is married to a billionaire's daughter, basically doing his job as a hobby. How the fuck did we end up with that?!  Shocked

Yeah, you're damn right.

Abolish the machines altogether?
Why isn't regulation and monitoring not taken into account?
What do you think ?

I think that not only is that not very fair, I also believe that it is complete and utter nonsense. Why on earth would there be a need to abolish the machines? Is there any kind of actual reasoning behind that seemingly political decision? Thats what I bet it is, all politics. Politicians just want to make themselves look good so they find something or someone to pick on and normal people suffer for it.

Thats just not right.

Whatever the  politicians are up to, its no good for those owners of the machines, they earn from it and the government takes it away from them. How is banning helping the owners, now they have to restart their lives and find something else to make money.

There are also lots of these machines in every gasoline station in US, I would speculate this ban in Australia will also happen in US after some time. If Australians doesn't protest endlessly, its imminent to happen in US.

I personally do enjoy playing the slot machines in every country that I visit, as every countries gambling machines are all extremely different.  So its a real shame when regulators sterilize our fun and games with this obsessive compulsive fake do-goodery.

Has Australia ever had any politicians take back their silly decisions? Or is this ban now for forever? I can't lie, I do like Australia and I hate to see Australians losing their freedom and rights over some moral high-ground contest between faceless politician A and Politician B, who nobody will remember in a few decades.

2835  Other / Archival / Re: Why has bitcoin adoption failed in El Salvador? on: April 29, 2022, 06:30:54 PM
Nobody cares about centralized wallets. Why would a leader of a country pretend to understand the benefits of Bitcoin only to go against the very nature of Bitcoin? If I had Bitcoin in El Salvador, then I definitely would not want a wallet which is centralized. Thats just dumb.
I will prefer to go for decentralized wallet, but you should understand this, individual can use decentralized wallet in El Salvador if you like and you will have the custody of your bitcoin, nobody is saying you can not be in control of your coin. But El Salvador make bitcoin a legal tender, which means Salvadoran government will be in control of the bitcoin they bought and make their citizens to use it. It is centralized, have very cheap fee. If people do not like that and want privacy, they can go for noncustododial wallet. There is no way a country will make something they can not control a legal tender, that is why El Salvador buy the bitcoin his citizens are using to have the control.

Yeah, obviously the very point that needs to be made is that El Salvador is not giving their people Bitcoin freedom. This is the reason why Bitcoin is not such a huge hit in El Salvador. So obviously as the answer to the topic of this thread, "Why has bitcoin adoption failed in El Salvador?" I can only say that the failings in El Salvador do not speak for the adoption of Bitcoin itself.

At this point, its not even about Bitcoin in El Salvador but rather using the image of Bitcoin for a PR stunt, hoping other bigger countries take notice of their tiny county.

Its a shame, but it still helps somewhat with getting other smaller countries onboard.

I am not one hundred percent certain that can be the same truth for gambling games. If you were to think about the thrill of winning money, then the game becomes fun, because you like gambling as the game, not the game itself.  So my hypothesis is that all the gambling games are fun for gamblers. Some are just more fun at certain times than others. But I have never seen a gambler who sticks to the same games forever.

At least personally,  I like almost all gambling games.  Roll Eyes

Nayib legalized bitcoin as a legal tender but not with its freedom. Instead of teaching its citizens about the basic technicalities of bitcoin, the government introduced the Chivo centralized wallet which meant the population was directed to remain in government control from the start. I had predicted that they would fail that way, and the initial sign was a problematic wallet which was a little frustrating.

THIS exactly this.

Nobody cares about centralized wallets. Why would a leader of a country pretend to understand the benefits of Bitcoin only to go against the very nature of Bitcoin? If I had Bitcoin in El Salvador, then I definitely would not want a wallet which is centralized. Thats just dumb.

Comparing El Salvador Bitcoin legalisation as subjective to the centralized government wallet is not really worth the trouble, as nobody wants to trust the government with their money anyway.

Surprisingly enough the Chinese altcoin (digital yuan) seems to be doing fine as they reported a little less than $10 billion worth of transactions recorded on their chain (if we can call it a chain!). There are also at least 2 new ones coming out in the coming months.

Suddenly it seems like the central banks jumped on board of the Bitcoin train but only took the blockchain technology and ran away.

I personally don't care how many of them are created as long as they don't try to ban bitcoin or restrict its adoption in any way (like closing bank accounts of those who dump fiat for bitcoin).
There may even be some silver lining that these CBDCs could replace the stable-coins in the market in the near future and we end up even seeing Atomic Swap capabilities added where you could easily swap one CBDC for another or for bitcoin without the risk of centralized stablecoins (issued by shady companies). That would definitely simplify things for traders while significantly reducing the risks they take.

It doesn't matter. The true use for Blockchain technology is and always will be freedom from the government. With CBDC's the government going to be able to decide what you are allowed to buy, where you are allowed to buy and how you buy.

An absolute nightmare. Which is why Bitcoin will beat the CBDCs to the punch in terms of when it comes to becoming the one and only true global money. No more Oligarchs or shady politicians ruling us.
