3021  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HUC] Huntercoin - Human Mining / Merge Minable Dual Algo / P2P MMO on: June 14, 2015, 05:22:54 AM

Anybody know why the difficulty in this coin is so high?  Who would mine this coin at such a big loss?

Thanks!

It's merge mined. F2pool aka Discus Fish mines (almost?) all the blocks I think.
3022  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [XDN] Foundation on: June 13, 2015, 08:20:19 PM
Nice. Hopefully you guys sell em off slowly. Looks like if you dumped 27M XDN on Poloniex right now it'd take the price back down to 30 or 40 satoshi.

Maybe you should also setup a BTC (or LTC or XMR or...) address for donations as well. Just a thought...

All people jumping ship to mine Vertcoin or something? Is there another super profitable GPU coin out there now?

yep and fyi windows 64bit unzipper works just fine to unzip files over 4 gb, now older 32 bit unzippers wont Sad still client just sits there and cpu load is 0 with the app running.. I just cant win Sad

Win64 unzipper SEEMS like it works fine, but I'm telling you, it doesn't. You need to use 7zip (or something else).

Well may hat off to you sir, i did download 7zip and unziped it, loaded up and 3 weeks behind Smiley hopefully it will sync now Smiley

Thanks Smiley

No problem, I had the same exact issue a while ago, and domob, or snailbrain, or bgb or someone helped me figuring it out. You can kind of tell I think because when you use the built in windows unzipper, then the unzipped files come out to be smaller than the archive that you're extracting them from, but it's not something you would normally consider. I mean, why the fuck can't the windows built in unzipper handle large files? Wtf Balmer?

Apparently they were slightly too drunk/sober when they implemented that feature:

3025  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why did ASIC-resistant multi-algo coins like Myriadcoin, Quark, etc. fail? on: June 13, 2015, 03:39:39 AM
I don't think that myriadcoin has failed, and it certainly doesn't pretend to be ASIC resistant, since two its algos are mined by ASICs. Yes, it has got a pretty low "market cap", but it also has more followers and services than a lot of other larger cap coins.

I also don't agree with the premise that all GPU only coins have failed. With vertcoin's major pump over the last few weeks, it was back in the top 10 of market cap I think, at least briefly, and it's still at #15 with a $3.5M number.

Couldn't have come up with a better name for something that is all hype and no substance (or I guess one atomic layer of substance that has no real world applications).

You say also on your website: "We create a new merge mined coin because the monocle blockchain isn't secure"

https://vertcoin.org/wp/android-wallet-bounty-merge-mining-and-website-updates/

Please update and develop MONOCLE further instead of creating a new coin!

Its quicker and easier to create a new coin because of the ownership and licensing issues with monocle, also who knows what state the blockchain is in and we don't need someone dumping massive amounts from the old blockchain.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Monocle isn't really *ours* to develop.

Not *ours* to develop, but *ours* to host a website for?
http://monocle.vertcoin.org/

Also, on the github page it is licensed MIT, and just says "Copyright (c) 2009-2013 Bitcoin Developers Copyright (c) 2014 Monocle Developers".
https://github.com/monocle-project/monocle-legacy

Maybe you can just ask erkmos if he will transfer the copyright? Even if not, IANAL, but I don't think the copyright would apply to anything really besides the logo, since the code is MIT licensed.

Isn't someone dumping massive amounts kind of the whole idea of price elasticity? I think implementing this trial on something where there's already some very large holders, which is much more akin to what it would be like implementing it for vert, makes more sense than starting with a fresh coin, not less. I do have a bunch of MON, but really, that isn't why I'm campaigning for it, I just think it would make a much better test case than starting something from scratch (unless you're gonna have a massive premine on the hypothetical fresh test coin that you hand out to a few people or something).

I'm really surprised to see HUC price going up for over 2 weeks without much resistance or major dumps, a new page in HUC trending. From all-time high at 0.0035 down to all-time low at 0.00000334 and now slowly going up, what a ride!

Not a huge surprise, imo, SISAR. A couple of months ago when the Unity project was announced, there was a decent pump, and now it seems like "lite" versions that might run on Android or iOS are getting closer to reality, so some price rise is to be expected, I think.
3032  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency - 0.8.8.6 on: June 10, 2015, 01:42:24 AM
anyway, what is so great about monero?
monero might be anoymous than bitcoin but bitcoin with a litte mixing is already anoymous enought

there is no need for another coin

the blackmaket will never adopt monero, because bitcoin has value and monero does not

You still here?

I've arrived at the conclusion that senorkavasaki is reverse-trolling. Every good anything needs some troll(s), and lately the Monero threads have been somewhat devoid of trolling - no Blockafett, no BitcoinEXpress, etc. I'm pretty sure he used to be a supporter, so I think kavasaki is just doing his part by fulfilling (what he feels is) the necessary role of community troll that is a vital part of any thriving cryptocurrency community.

the slowest (fairest) emission schedule of all cryptonote coins

Quazarcoin is even slower but the idea that slowest=fairest is kind of silly considering that someone could just create another one that is even slower than Quazarcoin. Where does it end?

True but would you concede the point that slower = fairer to later adopters?
(Or better still smoother = fairer  Wink)

All's fair in love and crypto.

Seriously though, I wish someone would fork duckdarkdigitalnote and change the emission curve to be 50 years instead of 50 days, and call it an experiment in authoritarianism (since dNote loves to say that his super fast emission curve is somehow related to an experiment in libertarianism).

Is there a way to see how many masternodes are running, and on what IP addresses? Curious to see if there's more than like 10

Minergate is shady as a shade tree. Here are links to open source (except claymore) cryptonight miners:

Non-AES CPU miner:
https://github.com/lucasjones/cpuminer-multi/releases

AES CPU miner:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=632724.0

AMD GPU miner:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=638915.60

nVidia GPU miner:
https://github.com/tsiv/ccminer-cryptonight/releases

I just read somewhere that claymore miner is more than twice as fast as minergate. I wouldn't know because I'd never use minergate.

I tested that AMD GPU miner,.. the hash rate is faster, butttt almost no accepted shares. I get more shares with minergate, and that results in more coins in 1 hour.

At minergate i use my CPU only, its still not possible for me to use the program for GPU.
I prefer more shares/coins then a higher hash Tongue

I would test a different pool than minergate with the Claymore miner. There are several others listed in the first post of this thread. Minergate uses closed source pool software, so maybe it doesn't play nicely with Claymore miner...
