DA FUCK!  Shocked

 Congratulations Bitserve!

Thanks!

Also thanks to everyone else that congratulated me, I won't keep going one by one saying thanks... this shit is getting redundant already! You all know I am thankful for your help and/or congratulations and I really appreciate it!  Grin

That being said let's get back to business as usual...

By the way, if you think Spain is cold, you should avoid Canada at all costs.
 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K1N5JRcSXOM

Jesus. I would want to die if I lived there. Yeah, I know about Canada (never been there... probably because).

Some parts of USA are also fucking cold. NY can be frigging cold, but sometimes is somewhat ok. San Francisco... da fuck! I was there one time in *JUNE*. And there were fucking SEA LIONS on the pier!!!!! NO WONDER WHY!

Not that UK is that much different. Spent one month there when I was young and it was all rain and bad climate... in fucking July or August!

And yeah, even in my country there are many cities where it is too cold for my taste, especially in winter.

The only place, besides my city, where I was able to perfectly climate as if I was at home is Las Vegas during summer. That's maybe one of the reasons I have been there 5 times already, spending my whole summer holidays. I *LOVE* Las Vegas.

Yeah, I am bit picky about needing a nice warm -or even *FUCKING HOT* for most everyone else- *DRY* weather. That's what I am used to and what I really love.

As a matter of fact, there has never been a snow fall in my city in all my lifetime. My father says it happened ONCE during his youth... for a few hours. And it was incredible.

But I won't be more specific as I am already almost blowing out my OPSEC as it is already somewhat easy to know very approximately where I do live... As if anyone would care lol

I would like to be more cold-climate-resistant but unfortunately I am not. Thats why my potential future relocation options are really extremely limited... or none. Sad

Not to keep banging on with Southern Vietnam but... Warm and dry are the winter conditions for 7-8 months (Nov-May) of the year along the south coast. Sand, cactus, blue skies, board shorts and sandles etc are the norm.  Any further north of the coast gets noticeably cooler.  Prices are still cheap AF. A private 3 bedroom/3 bathroom place on (very near) the ocean rents for $350 p/m. I can eat out every day and spend less than I would in Canada cooking and cleaning by myself.
The further south you go from here, the more humid it'll be.
Next stop south is the Phillipines which might be a good choice of a middle ground. They do experience crazy typhoons October-December that wreck havoc, worth considering. It'll be my next choice if and when I leave VN. Further south was more difficult,  I had moved my winter home from Bali about 10 years ago because it was just too humid, hot, wet and moldy most of the time. Also the sun is just too hard on the skin and prices and pollution are in a race. Infections, bugs, and tourists at every turn.

BTW congrats on the rank Wink

Spent plenty of time in Thailand in the past, haven't been there in years.
Maybe this won't be so easy, it is kinda obscure place to go. Here's better images of the boat, the locals, and the launch of a boat. Done in 30 knots of wind!
I'll add some of the monuments here if need be later.

Vietnam?

bit like this boat style

Mui Ne?
Its not Mui Ne, Phu Quoc, or Nha Trang but it's certainly Vietnam. More hints =  water color and wind strength. Hmmmm......
Giving up? Here's the pagoda in the center of the town.

I see the corn slid down a bit. 8670 now.  $101,700,000 sale to make that move.
Whale poop I believe.

Linh Quang Pagoda: the oldest temple on Phu Quy island.  That explains the wind too.

That was one of the toughest yet even with the full images.

Bingo! Well done. Thou shalt be sprayed with thy merit. Wink
Remote area that's only now starting to see significant tourism since better boats have been built to access the place. Visitors need a seperate visa as it's a military controlled island in the contentious South China Sea. Been coming here for the past 9 years for kitesurfing trips.   About 20k residents, most of which are fishermen and children Roll Eyes  It's an interesting melting pot of culture that isn't found anywhere else in Vietnam.  The children still yell Hello when they see foreigners. Slowly things are changing, like everywhere. Wouldn't recommend it unless you're here for the wind or a weekend getaway from Saigon or similar.

326  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bought this stuff with Bitcoin, great way for people to become aware of Bitcoin on: January 19, 2020, 07:43:02 AM
People will not adopt Bitcoin to simply pay for things, we have plenty of options for payments. People WILL take notice and adopt if they believe they'll make money or a lucrative investment. Price increase is the best form of awareness.
Awareness is coming and probably one of the best ways you can increase awareness is to ask the clerk each time you pay for something, "Do you accept Bitcoin?"  The answer will almost always be no today and might be for some time still but it plants the seeds of Bitcoin as a real asset. You'll likely start having conversations with that question as well.

I'm in retail and when customers ask what forms of payment I accept, I will always include Bitcoin as an option although nobody has ever paid BTC, it has started many curious questionings.

Good morning WO's, Indeed it is over $9000 looking at 9155 and climbing. This is fine.
Tet is coming soon and the karaoke parties are starting. I'm expecting prices to follow the celebrations of the next 10 days.
Friends and atmosphere all in place.  Here's a shot of our back yard currently. Any sleuths out there find this? Shouldn't be terribly difficult.

Falassarna Beach, Crete, Greece
Greece is nice guess, sounds beautiful, would love to visit but never been there. The boats should be unmistakable here.

I know we touched on the new US tax question recently but I hadn't considered this point of view which I tend to agree.

Quote
Opinion: The IRS will cause significantly more adoption of bitcoin.

Going forward, all taxpayers will be required to answer the question below:

This question will force all taxpayers to contemplate the existence of cryptocurrency as an asset class.

This also forces accountants, attorneys, and financial advisors to educate themselves on the subject in order to represent and advise their clients.
The question will inevitably nudge some of the tens of millions who are exposed to it, and who are curious,  to explore this new asset class.

Once curiosity sets in, it is guaranteed that Bitcoin’s gravity will draw many of these newcomers down its rabbit hole.
This amounts to a guerrilla marketing  campaign by the IRS, and it can only lead to increased interest in and adoption of bitcoin, IMO.

I do not believe this is the intent of the question by any means, but I cannot see how the increased awareness will be a net negative.

Message to r0ach:

LFC_Bitcoin just sent me 0.00587140 BTC (the equivalent of around $50). He doesn't know who I am. I don't know who he is. We did not have to register to any site or server. No one, I repeat, NO ONE, could stop this transaction from happening. Even if one miner refused to confirm it for some reason, there are thousands more who would. There were no intermediaries. No company or bank to allow or deny it. He cannot take it back. No one can. He was the sole owner of that amount. He transferred ownership to me. Now I am the sole owner of that amount. He did this from (probably) thousands of miles away from me. He did not have to send anything by mail. It happened over the air. Electronically. It took less than half an hour. It cost less than $0.40. It will stay in the Blockchain forever. That's Bitcoin.

Derp...

After successfully making the case for non-custodial as a regulatory requirement to be exempt from securities regulations, our next move is to make the case for mandatory Coinjoin (and/or other privacy techniques) as a requirement to comply with Canada's privacy protection laws.

He's referencing bullbitcoin,  I believe this platform is truly paving the way in such positive ways. I'd really like to see more just like this available in other countries.
Thankful to be able to participate as a Canadian and support their roadmap.

BTCUSDLONGS Bitfinex has nearly reversed its position from a couple weeks ago.
Meaningful or not, its still impressive, pretty lines. That long position made out quite well recently I suspect.
By comparison, BTCUSDSHORTS Bitfinex are also on the rise lately.

you'd need several wheelbarrows full transported and authenticated to exchange for a decent used car.  Roll Eyes

hardly

1000 OZ fits in an ammo can

I get where you are coming from and largely agree, but one can easily carry the value of a good used car in Ag with one hand.

Fair enough, 1000 ounces, approx. 63 lbs/28 kilos valued at $17,900 will likely be the limit for the average able-bodied human and only for short distances unassisted. 4000 ounces valued at $71,600 would be a heavy wheelbarrow load.

I liked the argument that BTC is mostly informational however nonetheless physical which negates r0aches claim that it's imaginary.

I don't have to ask permission to anyone to do something with a silver coin in my hand.
What is this 'something' you're doing with a silver coin? Surely you're not able to spend it like a currency and even if someone had agreed to accept it as payment, you'd need several wheelbarrows full transported and authenticated to exchange for a decent used car.  Roll Eyes  At least Bitcoin works as settlement. Because its immeasurably more convenient and secure than PM's is the primary reasons it's a currency and PM's are not.
I don't buy your hypothetical Armageddon doomsday scenarios of centralization for BTC
Bitcoin is going to be what we make of it.  It will take many years of hard work education and community support to stand proud in our efforts.
Those who are too old, tired, and unproductive should stand aside while fresh minds pave progress.

I leave you with one of my favorite tunes

I really thought that it was jonoiv that I was responding to - hence my aggression.

Not like anybody here is going to listen to *my* opinion on this matter, but... jonoiv gotz a bum rap in this thread. Undeservedly.

Well, sorry to hear that.
But he did manage to stand out that day that he spammed WO.
And that is amongst the already established Hall of Fame WO pets, like r0achie & gembitz.

Even gembitz doesn't deserve the extent of treatment he's received here.  I get the entertainment factor, I personally miss some of the quality trolling.
338  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Cryptocurrency and Society on: January 16, 2020, 05:22:10 AM
I too share similar hopes.  In my opinion, BTC is activism and free speech.  I have yet to see any other form of activism which I'd consider more effective today.  'Exit' is a very powerful action and its available the first time in history, indiscriminately.  I don't think your point of view is too strong at all. All great and notable changes started with an idea.
Hope may be strong now and still, there is a very large battle for fungibility and privacy ahead which needs our attention if we are to be successful.
Nice to see someone doing it for the right reasons  Wink

Bitcoin lives mostly in the informational realm, and just like all other information systems, it needs to store and process the information via a physical medium. Thus, if you change information in Bitcoin, you effectively change a thing in the real world. Whether that thing is a solid-state disk, USB stick, hard drive, optical storage medium, or something else doesn’t matter.

124,946 bitcoin were just moved in a transaction.

That's ~$1,100,000,000 transfered for an $80 fee.

No government, bank or third party had to verify the transaction, nor could they have stopped it if they wanted to.

The true power of bitcoin. 🔥
