Many other exchanges do that already. I remember at least Karpeles confessed to trade on his own exchange (at that time he did not have any good alternative actually).
And itbit is still rather small isn't it?

Everybody is forgetting about the next halving, this time next year.
If we can get the Winkle ETF off the ground in the next 6 months or so & attract lots of new investors which will in turn create more mainstream adoption then the next halving we could push up towards 1000 USD again.
The future is bright people, the future is bitcoin.
GBTC is only the beginning.
I kind of agree that it will attract new investors - but on a downtrend this will be a slow process, this slowness will disappoint people and we'll see some more dumps. One year is a long time - enough to revisit double digits in the meantime. |

My theory: GBTC caused a small rally on rumors (or/and by insiders) - but when it proved to be completely irrelevant (at least for now) the rally is being reversed by huge dumps.
And COIN can have a similar effect - sure it will not have exactly the same supply problem as GBTC - but I don't think it'll have too much demand unless it is started after we have a rally already. So if it is really started this month or next - then it will only accelerate the downtrend, because people will lose hope.

Well sure, nothing is certain - this is the speculation forum, but could you maybe at least elaborate why you consider these predictions and ideas to be improbable? Technically it looks very complicated because SIMs are not directly connected to the Internet and also they don't have storage capacities to store the whole blockchain. Also it does not look likely that a big company would bet its reputation on bitcoin at this stage. All in all looks like some news made just to make the bitcoin enthusiasts salivate - crazy big numbers, mobile, etc. - something to ignite the imagination of the traders, just like those notorious 'if only Amazon started accepting bitcoin/if only a billionaire invested his pocket money into bitcoin' threads. Just a speculation  You don't need to store the whole blockchain on a mobile device. You just need a lightweight client and some sort of storing private keys securely. A hardware wallet or secure hardware element in a mobile phone (SIM) seems like the perfect way of doing this. OK - let's see - I've actually just bought a bit - this might be good enough to push another mini-rally. |

It's going to be fun seeing all the weak hands having strokes as soon as we test 1xx$, but im here for long term so that is only good news for anyone like me.

The latest dump and consequent slow downward trend has made me realise that the last up trend was not caused by new comers - it was caused by us. If newcomers were having an impact on the price then we wouldn't have this down trend.
What happened is that some guy decided to dump and the bitcoiners stopped buying out of fear.
Let's face it we are on our own right now without newbie buyers. Any sort of mass adoption is 20 years away. It's time to stop looking at the graphs and dreaming of the moon every hour. The moon will come in the distant future when we are old.
Everyone who could be an early adopter is already one. The geeks and foresighted people have already joined. The laypersons will now not join until they have incentives. Thus there will be no more big bubbles in the near future. The rush of people who could have caused a bubble have come and gone. Now all we await is a small trickle of others to join us for the upcoming years. No more bubbles an time soon. Just a very slow and volatile grind upwards. Bubbles will happen with incentives and I see no incentive at all except a financial crisis that entails hyperinflation or banks repossessing money.
Add to this the new coins that are being mined all the time. |

Come on now, you should know by now that when good stuff like this happens, its not bullish, but instead dumps start crashing the price.
Dont get me wrong , I love BTC , but Ill give it a week to see where we are at lol.
In many cases in the past it looked as if the insiders bought before the info got public - and then after the announcement had moved the price they dumped into the rally banking on the profit they made. |

I would assume they all do that. At some point MtGox was earning bitcoins and they had such amounts of them that it would be completely crazy to trade them on other exchanges.

Why do these bugs always happen during crashes I don't know - but it looks like this one actually stopped the crash (maybe temporarily - but this builds some divs that might result in a bounce back). Heavy selling through it now..time to buy soon.. Yeah - this is because it is gone now. |
