Economy / Speculation / Re: Holidays slump

So it seems that so many investors waited for the holiday slump that their bids cumulated into a critical mass. But will the slump arrive? I think it is still a possibility - after the investors spent the surplus money in the rally.
What is your sample size for this "Holiday Slump" effect? I don't remember anything specific - but on the way up it was quite common that on weekends and bank holidays there were slumps - because no new money was coming in. On the way down this effect disappeared - but now we are back on an up trend aren't we?

It would be boring if all would agree with me
The market will decide who is right or wrong. In my p.o.v the market dynamics have changed a lot. The current rise is very healthy , supported by strong volume. Sure it will not go up in a straight line. There will be corrections along the way, but I see likelihood of 60-65% that we will not see bitcoin prices below 2 $ in the next weeks and months any more. More details and alerts in the subscriber section. How about prices below 3?

Just remember that quick growth like this is usually not sustainable. I prefer the healthy, gentle ramping up that we saw for several weeks past. If one side of the chart looks like the Eiffel tower, then the other side is likely to look the same.
yes, but don't forget that markets usually swing from overbought to oversold. the reversals tend to be straight up to kill shorts and escape away from the non believers. then u get a leveling off before a more sustained steady rise as we head toward the fundamental price. So what is the current target for 'sustained steady rise'?

I am not a lawyer - maybe a legal action would be really an overkill - but a protest, by a bitcoin relying business, would not cost that much. The point is that by doing that you do two things
1. you inform the public that bitcoin is not 'invented illegally' - this is the obvious goal
2. you create a great story for journalists to write about - a legal threat or even an 'official' protest gives the story the 'this is important stuff' quality so that it can get into the mainstream press (some one mentioned the Streisand effect and really - this is what we want - and by the way I am sure that CBS would like it as well - publicity for them is great, legal stuff related even better for that show).

One thing is sure - since the decline in June until December all rallies were only bounce backs after large drops. Now this is finished. The first rally from 2 to 3 was the first one that went higher than the previous large drop, now this is confirmed with another one.

Nothing like a poor loser starting a new thread. Old_engineer, started the contest, someone said "what time zone" rather early on, and he said "GMT". GMT is the standard time zone in many things because it is the standard. You know, the way that Central time is referred commonly listed as "UTC - 06:00" just to explicitly show what time zone it is? And of course UTC is the replacement of GMT ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coordinated_Universal_Time). Why would anyone use GMT as the standard? Because it is. When you're dealing with a global environment, what else would you use? Anyway, you lost out on 5BTC because you got in early on a free contest, never corrected your vote (basically because you had a lucky guess), and now you're whining about it. Welcome to the Internet. All of that is irrelevant since I cast my guess before GMT was even mentioned. As a result, I never viewed the thread again until yesterday. So, I was completely made unaware of this rule. Hence, the game was played under different rules by different players. Isn't Universal Time the default? OMG, is this how you all live your lives? Do you all walk around living your lives according to GMT or universal time or whatever? Jesus Christ, this isn't hard to understand. I live in Illinois, so I made a guess based upon my time zone. When my friend asks me "hey, what time are we going to dinner?" I don't know about you but I always make sure to ask him, "You mean, Illinois time or Japan time?" When you are talking to people from all possible time zones the only universal time is UTC, this is the common reference point.

Well well, isn't this quite retarded.
Some forum members are butthurt because a fiction TV show called their favorite hobby 'illegal', and their arguement is that businesses who use it should be protected?
There is no one to sue them, and no reason to sue, much less no one to sue in the first place. ... ... ... Microsoft is a registered company and trademark. Windows is a registered trademark and patent. You want to play with decentralized fire, you should expect to get burned.
If any business owner out there is stupid enough to accept a payment method associated with high amounts of fraud for example, they deserve to reap the rewards of public disapproval. It is very clear to me that very few of the members in this forum, especially in this thread, have ever run a healthy and successful business.
+1 Not to mention beware the "Streisand Effect": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Streisand_effectStreisand wanted to hide, not more publicity - that is the difference here.

Also, I don't think the law recognizes defamation of a computer program.
imagine that there was a TV show about someone 'illegally inventing Microsoft Windows'. Remember the movie "Antitrust"? Of course they never mentioned Microsoft by name, but the "evil" company in the movie is obviously based on Microsoft, and the "evil" founder is obviously supposed to be Bill Gates. So why do you think they did not use those names?

There are companies that depend on the Bitcoin system - imagine that there was a TV show about someone 'illegally inventing Microsoft Windows'. Microsoft is a registered company and trademark. Windows is a registered trademark and patent. You want to play with decentralized fire, you should expect to get burned. Ha ha - I see you get very ideologicaly frustrated about this idea. Relax. Legally it will all depend on many details, and I am not a lawyer - but a protest about it would not do any harm, I can assure you.
