and the income you will generate for them will be small (relative to billion+ profits).

Good Luck - I think this is the one area that is going to be very hard for bitcoin.

um, about those billion+ profits...

up to a total of nearly BTC 100 donated in 1 week, I like how everyone can automaticaly see all of these donations too if they wish - an added bonus that prior forms of donating to things didn't have & that may appeal to other fund raisers - it's a bit like seeing the graphic of a thermometer that fills up to the target/s if set, like say 1,000 Btc to fix the church roof, 10,000 Btc to build a school house, etc

3305  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Securing your Bitcoins against death, amnesia or prison. on: October 03, 2011, 11:05:38 PM
I set up a strategy to secure save Bitcoins and pass them to beloved ones after death, amnesia, imprisonment etc.

1) Use truecrypt to encrypt your wallet.dat (strong passphrase, hidden volume, keyfiles etc.) Or use the new version (0.4).

2) Make several copies (including the cloud) and leave or send a copy to your geek friend / dad / son / grandson / attorney / wife etc. Keep in mind that they will not have the passphrase so you're secure.

3) Set up a BoomerangMail (or another kind of schedule sender of emails) to send a PGP encrypted email with the passphrase and instructions to open the file. (1 year from now I think it's good).

That's it.

Critics and comments appreciated. Thanks.

3306  Economy / Securities / Re: Now seeking investors for BitCorp Mining Company on: October 03, 2011, 09:49:30 PM
Final numbers for September are in the books.  BitCorp had a very successful month:

Production (in BTC)                               164.05
Operating expenses (in BTC)                    44.22

Free BTC flow available to shareholders   119.83

Moreover, we are on pace for an even better October.  If we maintain our current pace, we will mine nearly 185 BTC this month, with very little increase in operating expenses.

Thank you to our first investors, glad to have you on board!

I believe that i was the first person to state early in this thread that i wished to be an investor/angel & I ebay messaged the OP & had a positive reply re my 1,000+ positive feedbacks there over 10 years+ but did not receive any offer to invest in this venture or even polite notifications of why i may have been overlooked so as to at least keep me on board as a potential future backer, weird...

Edit: My offer was posted to the original yochdog thread & I also eBay messaged same day as original post, early on
3307  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many days does a SEPA transfer take from Mt.Gox on: September 30, 2011, 10:00:22 PM
I assume that you already have one, but if not you'll be offered a free MtGoxed sovenier Yubi key for your pains, in my case it didn't make up for the 50% BTC price change whilst waiting for my funds to clear back in early Aug via a UK 'fast' transfer to their UK HSBC acnt that everyone else processes in 2 hours max - they knew they had a problem with these but didn't bother to inform the clients who were using this service - I'd of hoped by now that they were getting their act together a bit more so that when things like this happen they give warnings & real time updates to those who have been affected

BTC - before the crash invest your wealth in Bitcoins

BTC - beyond the (sovereign fiat currencies) crash it'll be Bitcoins

please tell me you are all kidding.  no one actually believes in the 2012 apocalypse bullshit, right? b/c thats just as retarded as the mason stuff from a month ago.

so here's a question, if the mayans could read the future, why didnt they see the spanish conquistadors coming?

quite possibly they did 'see' the shadow of that which was to be happening, but what could they have done about it, like the native american indians, like the australian aborigines - a few thousands against a new world (Europe) of millions with advanced tech, forget it, it's a long game that has to be played

All,

Thank you initial traders for participating in the program.  We are ending the first cycle early and there will be no immediate subsequent investment cycles.

For those who participated, your bitcoin are now worth 20.8% more in your base currency.  Since our only viable trade is to sell bitcoin for dollars and bitcoin has appreciated against the dollar during the entire cycle, no trade was taken.

In the future we may re-create the investment program in a different format.  For now, please revoke all API keys related to this program.

Thank you once again

I'd like in, if I meet your investor criteria, as possible angel or more general shareholder

Edit: eBay messaged one of my ID/feedbacks there

Now tell me, Otoh, honestly, how old are you?

I mean, physically.

I know how old you are mentally, so I just want to see the discrepancy.

I am not sure what your clip exactly refers to...

Should I read it as "you are so dumb!" or "you don't know a thing about mining" or "allowing miners creates rather complicated problems"?

Personally, I am not even sure why would miners want to share a forum with, for example, merchants.
Do you think there is a big overlap in the areas of interest for those two groups?

I bow for your wisdom, Otoh. Now I see everything with such clarity! You re-posting that clip made me realize how wrong I was and how to solve all the Bitcoin problems... Wait, it's fading... fading... Could you re-post it again please?

3318  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why I went all in on: September 14, 2011, 08:23:48 PM
I was able to get a sneak preview of this last week.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=44076.0

I went all in at that point.

Bitcoin now has point of sale capability that is easy. Plus, no more carrying around your credit card. Everyone carries their cell phone these days.

so atm how much are you down from last week in $ terms or just as a % if you like, both would be most informative if you'd care to share - down the road we can then all watch your roller coaster ride to riches

so how big are (were) you & what was your point of entry (to put it crudely) Wink
3319  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Contributors-only forum. on: September 13, 2011, 11:17:25 PM
Fuck you all.

I've put an effort, my time and my heart and you have taken a shit all over it.

Good luck with your toy currency. Good luck with attracting developers.

I'm out of here.

I have more productive things to spend my time on.

Can I have your stuff?

3320  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Possible false alarm: MtGox break in on: September 13, 2011, 09:46:40 AM
Sorry if this is a bit offtopic, but does anyone has a propper explanation of what happen at MtGox on Sunday with the ghost trades? The technical explanations Ive heard until now dont seem to make much sense.

It seems MtGox blocked about 2,000 accounts so that their trades still showed up but were not actually executed, opperating with alededly stolen funds & Bitcoins with the intent to seriously disrupt the market, why wasn't there a MtGox warning that their data was going to be completely off - people make trading decisions based on this

What now happens to the funds & Btc now locked down at MtGox, how much is this worth, if they were stolen from MyBitCoin will they be expropriated & returned for additional refund to clients there

Far too little information comes out of MtGox about these constant shenanigans - I guess that the OP also gets a free MtGox Yubi key as well as his Btc back
