2301  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: Hashkings Lending,Deposit 1.25% INSURED, ALL PPT ACCOUNTS CLOSING ON 8/19 on: September 09, 2012, 10:14:02 AM
You have no business to demand 42...xx BTC of interest, you, if you just could leave your selfish circle jerk, want to steal from the deposited principal of others.

At least in this line of reasoning, even hashking aknowledges a higher moral ground than you !

Thanks for thinking about greedy little bastards, who won´t get anything in the end.

Zyk

No, I expect hashking to sell assets & borrow fiat (just like I am now having to do) in order to make good his contract with me in full, I expect my principle back asap or that is just straightforward theft & after everyone's principle has been re-payed, eventually the interest in full (48 btc) or that is fraud imo.
2302  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: Hashkings Lending,Deposit 1.25% INSURED, ALL PPT ACCOUNTS CLOSING ON 8/19 on: September 09, 2012, 09:50:30 AM
At least Hashking fessed up, and is trying to make things right. Most people in that situation would just disappear.
...

* I fucked up. I apologize from the bottom of my heart.
* Since I am the one that fucked up, I will go to extraordinary lengths to make it right for people whose trust I violated
* I owe xxx amount of bitcoins right now
* I have yyy amount of fiat and zzz amount of bitcoins to pay back my creditors immediately
* I have the following sources of income: (mining, real estate investment, real job, etc)
* I have the following assets: gold, silver, firearms, vehicles, etc..
* I will make my first good faith payment of xxx bitcoins in three days as soon as my money gets to Mt Gox and I can buy some coins
* I'm asking my creditors how I can make this the least shitty for them and am soliciting opinions
* I'm sorry
...

This is what I too would need from hashking to feel that he is being sincere in his desire to repay all that he owes, plus a major % pay back on Monday & regular subsequent ones as he sells assets to make this good asap - I am now having to sell personal assets, some at a loss, in order to honor a commitment that relied on my funds of 348.75 btc being returned in full when due last Saturday.

Why can't someone invent a machine that can be switched on or off to connect to the internet and it's only purpose is to be a bitcoin wallet. It can have a little screen that says how many BTC you have. Just connect and it updates and disconnect. And the main thing would be if you needed to send BTC, it would require you to insert some type of key or swipe a card or something.

There's definitely profit to be made by coming up with a way to keep coins that is both secure and easy to use (but not necessarily cheap or free!).

Wise man say, "Only a fool buy investment on downtrend with no present indication of future uptrend."  Wise man also say, "Fool buy 1 dollar for 1 and 1/5 dollar, but smart man sell 1 dollar for 1 and 1/5 dollar."

Wise man additionally say, "Fallacy is not made truth by multiplied propagation, nor is truth made fallacy because no one will believe it."

Wise man further say, "Idea is good, but better idea is couple BTC code with useful goods.  A birthday card with BTC code is better than BTC code alone."

Wise man finally say, "Man who becomes outraged at expressed opinion will not be outraged if he does not identify with contrasting opinion."

since you're so "wise" douche, lets make a bet.  i'll bet you 100 BTC to be held in escrow that the price of BTC in USD terms one year from now will be higher than it is today.

Wise man say bet is inherently flawed.

Wise man see that if he wins, he does not win much.  Wise man see that if he loses, he loses much more.

Wise man also doesn't want BTC value to plummet and instead wants BTC to succeed.

Wise man thinks you create non-sequiturs from what wise man say.

oh wise douche, let me rephrase.  the bet to be 100 BTC OR $670 USD!

Just out of interest had your bet been accepted then you would have won as $11 today > $6.70 then

agree to read* (sry can't seem to be able to edit my post atm)
2306  Economy / Auctions / Re: selling my religious beliefs on: September 04, 2012, 09:43:03 PM
and i dont want to avoid reading...i dont want to read about every single religion...i will read and study whatever form of "bible" that wins... im ready to try and believe in anything if its going to make me understand my purpose on earth or an afterlife.

You said that you would be prepared to give this a 6 months trial, so here's my proposal - it isn't exactly a religion, more an alternative to them, hopefully leading to an awareness beyond what most religions have on their menus, it is that you will agree read 1 book per month, for 6 months, that I will buy second hand from eBay or somewhere & get mailed direct to an address where you can receive them at, I may add in up to 6 DVDs for you to watch also but haven't thought much about that as yet, the first 3 books (unless you've read them already) would most likely be:

Ekhart Tolle: The Power of Now & A New Earth
Rob Brezsny: Pronoia

My bid is 1.01010101 BTC (plus you can resell/gift the books etc.)

I have put the website back online for users who have USD to request a withdrawal via ACH. If you choose to leave your USD funds in the account they will be available for trading once it resumes. I hope to resume trading later in the week.

If you had outstanding orders they have all been cancelled.

Once trading resumes, I hope to be able to start repaying BTC losses using the proceeds from fees. More information about this will be provided later.

wow, sounds like he's found an angel backer, maybe it's the hacker, at least that would help sort out basic security issues as he wouldn't want anyone else running off with his new golden goose

What makes you think that.

"repaying BTC losses using the proceeds from fees".

Well I hope he has found one or at least enough interest to expect one otherwise it would take forever to pay back from fees - I just don't think that would be realistic without someone buying in to the company

I'm actually glad to be taking a break from that channel, half of all my bitcoins were sent to pirate via BitcoinMax - we shall see what happens
2312  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Intersango Exchange on: August 31, 2012, 08:06:14 AM
I thought I'd share this PM exchange of today with 'Intersango' as it helps to explain some of the things that were happening earlier this month with their UK bank withdrawals.

Hi,

This account is rarely used. The most reliable way to contact us is the ticketing system. We try to respond readily to tickets and usually we do but there are some backlogs.

I noticed you've had some previous posts about your payments going from 'Requested' status to a 'Processing' status and back to a requested status. This is not because of some fishy business or anything abnormal at all.

Once our UK bank problems had been resolved after weeks of issues, it took us 10 days to catch up with payments out. When payments are are dealt with, the stack of payments are turned from 'Requested' to a 'Processing' status. If we allow users to cancel payments while they are being processed we could be taken severe advantage of and lose our user's payments to theft.

If a daily limit is hit while the payments are processing then the unprocessed payments are put back to 'requested' status. Payments are generally done in order but not always for various reasons. If there is incredible lag sometimes a single payment can take 10 minutes to make, in that case higher value payments are prioritized.

There are a lot of issues like these and we simply cannot communicate all these nuances as well as maintain service. Right now we are pursing finding out 5th payment gateway for just the UK alone in the last year and a half I believe. Many people take things that we would never think of and turn them into somehow being suspicious behavior.

We are trying to provide good service while trying to be a sustainable business. We are learning from our mistakes and trying to preempt issues but these issues are the reason bitcoin exists.

Hi,

Many thanks for your reply & explanation, I will post it to your Intersango thread as I believe it would be helpful for others who may have been in the same position or were wondering what was happening & why. I wish you good luck with finding a UK bank that can work for you & am looking forward to using Intersango again once you find one.

All the best & for the conference too,

Otoh
2313  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: ATTN: BitcoinMAX lenders who wish to give information to pirate on: August 30, 2012, 04:56:34 PM
It will be interesting to see what % of Bitcoin Max's 373 users & what % of the total BTC held via him add their info here - if that approx can be made public, if it looks like being more than 50% of either or if pirate requests then I would hope that paybtc would agree to follow the wishes of his clients and to verify the list against his records, I can't see any harm in providing this info to pirate & personally would rather he was given it direct from paybtc but if not then I hope he will at least confirm the info for those that would like it passed on.

Btw - typo on the form: 'balance'

apparently he's on holiday atm, unfortunate timing but with so much at stake a daily check in & update is essential imo

Do you actually KNOW that he's on holiday or are you just guessing due to him not appearing for a couple days here?

It's been reported on irc://freenode/btcst by ppl who apparently know this, I'm just relaying the most current informed info available...

payb.tc you can go ahead and pass on my info to pirateat40.  I don't have any problems with that & would prefer you to do so.
2317  Economy / Service Discussion / Are Mt. Gox & other exchanges going to be considered FFIs & if so what effect? on: August 29, 2012, 12:20:51 PM
Reporting by Foreign Financial Institutions

FATCA will also require foreign financial institutions (“FFIs”) to report directly to the IRS certain information about financial accounts held by U.S. taxpayers, or by foreign entities in which U.S. taxpayers hold a substantial ownership interest. To properly comply with these new reporting requirements, an FFI will have to enter into a special agreement with the IRS by June 30, 2013. Under this agreement a “participating” FFI will be obligated to:

(1) undertake certain identification and due diligence procedures with respect to its account holders;

(2) report annually to the IRS on its account holders who are U.S. persons or foreign entities with substantial U.S. ownership; and

(3) withhold and pay over to the IRS 30-percent of any payments of U.S. source income, as well as gross proceeds from the sale of securities that generate U.S. source income, made to (a) non-participating FFIs, (b) individual account holders failing to provide sufficient information to determine whether or not they are a U.S. person, or (c) foreign entity account holders failing to provide sufficient information about the identity of its substantial U.S. owners.

Or in reality will this latest BS just apply to banks, insurers & funds, etc

Bitcoin's horoscope for Monday August 27, 2012

Are you really getting somewhere or just going round in circles? That, I suspect, is your most important question this week. You've been putting much effort into a plan or campaign. Every so often, you see signs of progress but, though they seem to blaze like fireworks, they soon fade into the dark sky. Did you really see them? Did you just imagine them? And if they were real, why are you not yet at the end of a long and arduous process that you yearn to complete? Events this week will bring answers. You'll like them.
2319  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: Bitcoin Conference 2012- London 15-16 Sept | ANNOUNCEMENT tickets available on: August 24, 2012, 01:18:29 PM
The OP states the venue as The Imperial (Hotel) but the main site lists the Royal National (Hotel), Russell Square - could someone please confirm which it is if they aren't the same & the exact address, Bedford Way? - Woburn Place? Many thanks.

Edit - seems that they are next door to each other with the main entrance on Woburn Place & secondary entries on Bedford Way, near Russell Square - so np I'll find it
2320  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: Unofficial attendance list - Bitcoin London 2012 on: August 24, 2012, 12:52:20 PM
Having other commitments right through to 2013 I didn't imagine that I could attend, but suddenly things changed & I find that I will need to be in London for a week around that time anyway so why not, flight & accommodation booked - should be fun Smiley
