I missed the first 5 matches of the event due to some stuff I needed to do IRL but it looks like the results were nothing really unexpected.  I thought Bilder would have a chance tho, but no...  Lol.  The guy who reeeaaally busted up this event' parlays is Charles Johnson.  Cheesy  Won as a huge underdog and what looked like he was gonna be out of the UFC is he had lost this one.  Nice win for him.

^  Respect the grind...  Wink  Love seeing it.

What do you guys think of the 35 TIA minimum for Alt Layer?  Should be start staking 50 TIA to get in these airdrops before the price blows up above 50 or something?  I need 20 more TIA and it's a tad under 400 bucks which is still kinda affordable.  At 50 USD per TIA that's like a thousand bucks and I don't think I'll shell out that kind of money for it.  That money is better used somewhere else imho.  Would rather go for DYM or buy more PYTH which is trending up btw...

He'll be 40 years old when he goes there.

Don't get me wrong, the guy's a legend and is still going strong. But come on, this sport takes all you've got. Can a 42-year old guy really do it against all the youngsters anymore?

I'm sure it isn't just for PR - they will expect results from him. I just feel it's too late and find this really bizarre.

This is Lewis Hamilton we're talking about...  If this was football, he's like a Messi or a Ronaldo.  Cheesy Cheesy  And just like what I said on the other F1 thread, he's in there not just for his driving ability but his experience and valuable in
it he could give the team's engineers.  I think it's good for F1, a transfer move that everybody is curious about.  The 'what ifs' will be answered.

And you think that it could be too late, but I'd like to think Hamilton has a knack for knowing which team is gonna do well when there are big regulation changes.

So Hamilton in Ferrarin in 12 months.
Will be fun to see, was better to have him this year directly tbh.

He will have 2 shoots with Ferrari I think, 2025 with this generation of cars and 2026 with the new one.

Personally, I don't understand this move at all, on both sides. Ferrari is getting an ageing, albeit experienced, driver, presumably for a lot of money, but we've seen it all before at Ferrari and in very few cases has it gone well. And I don't think Hamilton can become world champion again at over 40, and Ferrari has had problems with the car or the strategy for years.

Here's the thing.  F1 teams not only acquire drivers just to drive.  They acquire them also for their experience and by giving their inputs to the team's engineers in how to tweak and set up the car.  Vettel's position in Aston Martin was something like it imo.

And at over 40, Hamilton's reflexes are still sharp.  So with a decent car, he still could win races at any given weekend.  It's not like Raikonnen in that last season he retired when you could see there were a few times he could've caused a crash as it was starting to look like he was losing his reflexes as an F1 driver.

I can see what the UFC is trying to do here but after what we saw of Covington in his last fight, I'd rather see a match between two prospects.  Rakhmonov vs Chimaev imho.  I think Rakhmonov will expose Chim and give him a good beating.

That would be an awesome fight, but it would be a stupid move to set two rising stars against each other on an early stage. From the UFC perspective, it's way better to let them climb to the top by beating up big names past their primes, let them get all the fame they deserve and then set them up against each other and generate huge revenue.
But yeah, my money would go on Rakhmonov.

But pretty sure Rakhmonov will be eager to fight a vet in Covington.  And if Covington agrees with the match up and signs the dotted line, then win or lose I think he'll retire after the fight.
Why would he retire if he was to somehow win with Shavkat? I think Colby will be looking to fight for as long as he can. He's too invested in creating his persona and won't give it up easily.
He was calling out Stephen Thompson after his loss to Leon, which shows he's looking for easier opponents to stay relevant for longer.

Just a hunch...  I mean who would fight Rakhmonov unless the fighter either wants to die or he just doesn't care anymore.  Couple that with Covington's poor showing vs Edwards, I think he doesn't care much about fighting in the cage anymore.  Not as much as he used to at least.  And Covington agreeing and signing the contract could mean that he knows he's just a stepping stone to bring Rakhmonov in title contention.  We'll see...

But again, would rather watch Rakhmonov vs Chim.  :/  But the UFC wouldn't do that unless there was a belt on the line.

Check out this match.  If you had a bet on Dober this would surely get you off your seat.

Nothing for Covington to capitalize on to get another title fight. He used them all up and still did not win a belt. This time he needs to risk his entire career. It's a long shot but if Covington wins against Rakhmonov, I think he will once again be proud to challenge a champ. That's what will happen after. Or not because Rakhmonov will choke the life in him.

Imho I don't think his risking his entire career.  He already did everything he could do in the UFC and even if he came up short from winning a belt at 170, he still gave it his all.  No shame in retiring with winning it after Rakhmonov.

Anyway here's the weigh results.  And we have one miss from Luana Carolina by a couple of pounds.  At two lbs, sometimes some fighters stop trying to cut the weight and here it might exactly be the case.  If it was a miss of .5 lbs then you know the fighter was def trying...

Roman Dolidze (186) vs Nassourdine Imavov (185)
Drew Dober (156) vs Renato Moicano (156)
Randy Brown (171) vs Muslim Salikhov (171)

^  The Alt Layer airdrop for TIA stakers.  -_-  I staked just 30 TIA as I thought that would be enough for getting into different airdrops of upcoming projects that have yet to do TGE.  Alt Layer says that stakers need at least 35 TIA staked to be eligible.  Sucks...  I could already imagine what their Discord and TG would be like.  Lots of people whining about the requirement being placed too high Lmao.

But it's kinda true tho.  Dymension just had a requirement of at least 1 TIA staked to get eligibility.  But then again I guess they made it high to filter the sybils out.

Ferrari let their drivers compete with each other so it would be great to watch a big rivalry between Hamilton and Leclerc.  Cool
So what is Mercedes going to do now after Hamilton switched to Ferrari, and who are they going to sign for new season?
Maybe Fernando Alonso or Carlos Sainz, or some new unknown talented driver.
I think Ferrari is aiming to be the biggest challenger to Red Bull this season.

Dun dun dun duuuun...

I really wouldn't mind if it was that guy.  And the team did have a history for bringing back drivers out of retirement.  The last one being the great Michael Shumacher.  Why Vettel you say?  It's just cos he's the realest and the most based mofo on the grid.

And here's another Formula Dank meme on Lewis Hamilton.  Lolol.  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

All in all, I think Sainz is the guy that got fkced in the ass with all the driver movement.  Not really sure if Merc wants him to replace Hamilton.

And another thing, I think Leclerc is fcked.  Hamilton will be a tough team mate.

349  Economy / Speculation / BTC Sentiment Poll for February on: February 01, 2024, 12:51:45 PM
Well...  January started off really nice with some of the guys around here thinking that it's finally a full blown bull market.  But a couple of weeks in, it looks like 45k resistance is too strong and there just wasn't enough demand to make BTC break out and stay above 45k...  :/

But then again when switching to a monthly chart, it doesn't really look that bad at all.  Still finished the month in the green.  So yeah...  Just a simple poll for Feb.  Up or down?  Grin

^  Yup!  I was about to post that one.  And also some words swirling around that Hamilton's replacement could he Lando Norris?  Is that even possible?  I think Norris has a contract with McLaren until 2027 or something.

*Just checked...*

Dun dun duuun...  Lando Norris' contract with McLaren is going to end at 2025.  Grin  Omg, 2025 is gonna be good.  At least it won't be boring.  Man, not a Ferrari and a Hamilton fan but Hamilton at Ferrari is something I will def root for.  Hope he does well but his first season could be 'entertaining'.  Cheesy Cheesy

But then again Hamilton has a knack for going to a team he knows is building a good car.
351  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: February 01, 2024, 12:19:33 PM

Rumours are brewing that Colby Covingtion vs Shavkat Rakhmonov is in the works for the near future. I was expecting Colby to retire after he fought and lost to Leon Edwards. Maybe this could be his way back into the title contention and the same would go for Shavkat, who's been undefeated in the UFC.

I can see what the UFC is trying to do here but after what we saw of Covington in his last fight, I'd rather see a match between two prospects.  Rakhmonov vs Chimaev imho.  I think Rakhmonov will expose Chim and give him a good beating.

Anyway, how many among you got Dolidze to win this weekend's main event.  Imavov is better on the feet and more technical with decent TD defense.  But dunno, I feel like Dolidze is gonna grind Imavov for most of the fight and wear Imavov down.
352  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: January 31, 2024, 01:21:10 PM
City were champions 2 times between 2008 and 2016 (without Guardiola) and 5 (potentially 6) times with him. Even if he inherited the best team in the world (which he did not, far from it), it would still be an incredible success to achieve such results.
You're trying to split beans for no real reason, most of you agree anyway that he's one of the best coaches football has ever seen.

SAF's dominance in the early PL era was even bigger, but the EPL then was not nearly as competitive as today.
That probably makes Guardiola the most successful manager overall - but yeah - money that he spent to get there will always be something that will diminish the success by a little bit.

I think the most fair assessment of who overachieved the most would be the net amount spent per points won. In the same period they are in the PL, Guardiola won 716 points with a net spend of 700 mil and Klopp won 671 points with a net spend of 250 mil.

That would say that Klopp is the league's lone overachiever, but then again - most of the trophies went Guardiola's way. The same thing happened in Germany.

Let me disagree. From a scientific point of view, we need more tests to see Guardiola's abilities. The circumstances were such that he started from someone else’s legacy (Rijkaard) and he managed the golden generation of the Spanish national team, which won absolutely everything they could. Then he had Jupe Heikens's Bayern, which dominated the Champions League, and by the way, he failed with it. Then he ended up with a cheating City that flooded everything with money.
Where should I see greatness here? Or at least proof that he is above average?
It is very correct that you mentioned the importance of the funds spent. Guardiola became the first coach in history to spend more than 2 billion on transfers. A small hint at his “qualifications”, right? But I would say that combined with the fact that he already had the greatest teams under management and continued to pour cosmic money into them casts a huge doubt on his abilities as a coach.

Mmmm ok, if Guardiola only became successful because he had access to funds to the players he wanted and needed then do you think Ten Hag would have the same kind of success as Guardiola if he managed Man City?  :/

It all comes down to the manager's mind for the game too imho.  And Guardiola has a good tactical mind for the game.  And here's the thing, a huge transfer budget wouldn't turn a mediocre into a brilliant one and win a treble.

^  Perez has a contract and this is F1 not football where they sack and replace the manager before their contracts expire.

^  Me too.  Cheesy  I mean really it's harder to get a good weekend getting it right in F1 than the UFC or the EPL.  At least for me.  And I'm not saying I'm any good getting it right in the UFC or the EPL...  Lol.  Cheesy
Oh trust me you can do much worse in La Liga pool, just look at my recent results  Tongue
Strange that in the same time I can do very good in other competitions like BSFL, and I hope for better results in F1.

Now...  It could either be Leclerc is confident that Ferrari could give him a competitive car or it's going to be a few entertaining seasons.  Grin
I think they offered him more money with new contract that he couldnt refuse.

Yeah...  And there isn't any available drives from the other top teams that's more suitable for Leclerc...  Mercedes and Red Bull.  But I couldn't really see him drive for Red Bull as they usually get drivers who are rising from their ranks.  Perez was the exception because the previous two drivers partnered with Verstappen didn't really do so well in helping with getting the points for the constructors championship.

...  But Perez also really doesn't.  Lol.

That is the only reason Perez is still there is exactly this,he is a mediocre driver that is for sure but sometimes in some specific races he become a beast by winning those couple of races giving the much needed points to earn the constructors Championship and he still ends up as the second driver in the drivers Championship. This is enough reason for Redbull to keep him until the end of 2024 when his contract expires. In this year Perez needs to do more or it is a sure thing that he is going to be replaced otherwise.

I think the writing is on the wall.  Perez will be replaced by somebody else who could bring in the points and make it a dominant showing in the constructor's championship.  That's why keep a close eye on Ricciardo this coming season.  If he makes a decent season for himself I'm pretty sure he'll be in Red Bull Racing next year.

Anyway, reposting this.  We'll be seeing what these cars look like finally then it's just around a month before Bahrain!  LFG!

Edwards vs Muhammad as main event on UFC300. God no, please. I almost got heart attack right now. Watching 25min fighters being busy doing everything except making sharp moment.

Jus to think about, do you think Belal is able to change his status of one of most boring fighters or “Mr.a-always-decision” before retirement? He really need more impressive victories. Otherwise no matter how good he will be, UFC wont give him big names.

Yeah considering that it's '300', sure I would have to agree.  For that number, it should be a match up between the guys who are around the top of the pound for pound.  But I really don't mind a match up between Edwards and Muhammad.  And that's because I really think Muhammad could win and I feel like the bookies will make him like a 2 to 1 underdog.  That's a good bet.

If the UFC really makes that the main event for 300 then so be it.  I'll still watch all of the fights from bottom to top like I always do every fight day.

Yeah mine increased too and I really didn't expect to be included in this airdrop because I didn't participate in any farming activity at all.  My Arbitrum address which got in the ARB airdrop was given a little DYM.  Nothing big just 22 tokens which got bumped up to 30.  Cheesy  I'll take it!

And I'll buy some when it gets listed somewhere.  Maybe it's going to be in Osmosis..?  :/  A lot of folks are thinking that if you missed TIA, don't miss DYM.

But yeah...  I'll just stake my airdropped DYM and forget about it.  Lol.

So many rumors going around about the main event in UFC 300. Ronda Rousey was said to have been offered $15M by Dana and so is Brock Lesnar. The super fight that Dana has been announcing yet no names have been said yet. All been rumors.

This is UFC 300 that they are planning, it should be the most awaited fight. If Dana scheduled someone who isn't someone fans expect, even if the whole APEX is on the red carpet, it will be a flop.

Uh...  McGregor, Rousey, Lesnar...  Who would wanna watch has beens like them?  The people who follow the UFC have gotten a lot smarter.  I honestly wouldn't mind Edwards vs Muhammad.  But that's just me.  The UFC needs to sell the event as it's a good number, 300 should be something special.  It should be Jones vs Aspinall imho, if it's possible.

But the thing tho is memecoins are going to give you the biggest gains if you play it right.  Like if you missed going in right before the pump then it's prolly better not to chase as these things could dump and you might get shaken out of the trade.

The thing to do for 2024 and 2025 if you wanna be in the trenches are airdrops and memecoins.

Light Heavyweight Division - Alex Pereira is the Champion, for sure he will need a title defense, and if he said that he will have a back-to-back title defense this year that will be Jamahal Jill and Magomed Ankalaev I don't know how the UFC can do it but for me, I think that Magomed Ankalaev could win this year and be champion in my opinion,

Btw, Alex Pereira is a double champ, he was middleweight and now is a light heavyweight champion. He is one out of eight fighters who got 2 belts. McGregor, JSP, Bones, Cormier, Cejudo, Penn, Couture. However, for me he is an artificial champ. He did not have any good wrestler in his entire MMA career. Starting from middleweight, matchmakers made his path avoiding all bjj and wrestler till Adesanya. Now in LH, injured Jiri gave him good fight. Old and beaten Blachowicz. Now who, Hill gonna test him? If he will face Hill, he will win, if it is Ankalaev, then we will get a new champ. Pereira wont last long in UFC. 36 already, lots of injuries from kickboxing. I dont believe he will dominate for long.

I'm guessing all those rumours stemmed from McGregor's tweet:

"McGregor on 300 seals the deal."

Imagine if the card really would be like that Cheesy I really laughed when I saw Belal Muhammad. I just wish he would never become a champion. Even though he is ranked 2 welterweight, he is one of the most boring fighters. 17/23 wins are decisions. Even in small and local promotions he managed to UD fights, when fights there usually over either in fighter round KO, or by submission.

The rumored main event is Leon Edwards vs Belal Muhammad and just as a fan, I don't really mind it actually...  Barring that it's UFC 300 aside.  Muhammad deserves his shot after beating Luque, Brady and Burns.  All solid fighters.  I think he might even win vs Edwards.  Dunno...  But he's an underrated fighter for sure.  I hope he's the underdog.  Grin

Anyway here are more replays of the fighters getting in the cage this weekend.
