341  Economy / Digital goods / Re: I'll buy any steam game for you at store price on: July 28, 2015, 07:01:19 AM
Locked for now as I have lost access to my steam funds.
Will be reopened if and when I sort things out with steam support.
342  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Buy gift cards of different brands. on: July 28, 2015, 06:52:04 AM
Payment after checking balance.

Nobody is going to accept payment after checking balance for a new user.
Look for an escrow (they'll check the balance of the card and hold the BTC for you)
This is a list of most escrow: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=108716.0

Alternatively, if a trusted user is selling it to you, you would need to pay first.
343  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Use bitcoin to make money untraceable on: July 27, 2015, 08:16:48 PM
They will not be able to prove any link between the two credit card accounts if you do it through Bitcoin.
However, when receiving it on your European card, it may be suspicious.
If your primary aim is ensuring that authorities cannot see the transfer between the two accounts, Bitcoin should be enough to hide it.
344  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [STEAM GIFT] [WTS] The Binding of Isaac Collection on: July 27, 2015, 07:50:22 AM
Hi there!
I'm interested in buying a copy.
Please add me on steam, my username is jambola2.
You could go first, or we could use an escrow (I'm sorta opposed to using an escrow for such a small amount, but can if necessary)
345  Economy / Reputation / Re: LostPoet's Reputation Thread - How to Verify my Steam Account inside on: July 27, 2015, 07:23:27 AM
That doesn't seem to be a signed message though.

A signed message has three parts: your address, a message and a signature.
You've only shown your address and some code I'm not sure of.

Regardless, I've added you on steam to verify you, my username is jambola2 there too.
Ideally you'd do this with someone more reputed, but this should work for now.
346  Other / Off-topic / Re: [SOLVED] Skill Testing Math Question -- 0.08 BTC Reward on: July 27, 2015, 07:19:42 AM
i want to reclamation

From your question, you are looking for weight in grams.
in physics weight are united with Newton, not in grams. but in real world sometimes people call mass as weight.

Quote from: lili song on July 24, 2015, 08:00:46 AM
                      Centripetal_force 1      =  centripetal_force 2
   84,000 g * (464 m/2)^2 / 6,371,000 m = mass * (463.2 m/s)^2 / 6,371,000 m

   mass = 84,290.4 g

and u claimed this answer as the winner. So the answer you are looking is mass not weight.

from this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weight is the description of weight physics
and this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mass is the description of mass in physics

if you are reading it carefully, in paragraph 2 of description of mass you will read  "An object on the Moon would weigh less than it would on Earth because of the lower gravity, but it would still have the same mass".
so whenever you are, whatever the velocity or radius of the planet
your mass will still same, but your weight will change.

and I want to straighten our concept about centripetal force.

from lili song answer centripetal force 1 = centripetal force 2.
This is completely wrong! As far as i know centripetal force change as the related variable change.
Sorry, lili, i did not mean to blame you.
this for the reference of the centripetal force description http://www.regentsprep.org/regents/physics/phys06/bcentrif/default.htm

So, the answer should still same mass(weight) 84,000 grams

As ndnhc pointed out, and as I already said in my answer, I gave it in mass equivalent.
What do I mean by mass equivalent?

The weight is 826.59 N, but it is the same weight of an object with mass of 84,289.46 grams on the surface of the earth.
OP asked for it in grams, so I gave it in mass equivalent.

Read my answer, it is different from lili's answer, but straightens out a lot of things he said, better explaining them.
He has a valid reason for being unable to explain it too, as English is not his first language either.
347  Economy / Digital goods / I'll buy any steam game for you at store price on: July 26, 2015, 03:29:48 PM
I have around 50$ of steam funds, which I don't mind converting to BTC.
You'll have to pay the exact store price at the time of the sale.
If you want, I can buy steam community items for you too, which can include keys, skins and items of games
You will go first, unless you are highly trusted or we agree to use an escrow.
If we use an escrow, you will have to cover escrow fees.

Preferable mode of contact is through PM, as I may not notice replies to this thread.
Alternatively, you can try sending me a friend request on steam, my username is jambola2, but bitcointalk PM will still be the fastest.
348  Other / Off-topic / Re: [SOLVED] Skill Testing Math Question -- 0.08 BTC Reward on: July 26, 2015, 02:49:17 PM
'lili song' is the winner! (19jD5PfF5TqeF5xJWa5US2rM7GHVr5hdX) <-- 0.07 BTC

'jambola2' is the runner up. (1FRkoJDy8CwZ84RSeMs2tCEKBdVfHu32Ra) <-- 0.01 BTC

I decided not to be a cheap ass and reward the entire 0.08 BTC but, lili song's works sucks so jamola2 gets 0.01 BTC of her reward. Technically lili song posted while the reward was 0.01 BTC so consider yourself lucky.

Woah  Roll Eyes I can't believe it that I'm the winner
Thanks notbatman  Grin and thanks for jambola2 for clarification (since english is not my mother tongue, I can't argument just like you did. )

Yup, you owe me one for proving you right Wink

And notbatman, shoot me a PM the next time you're hosting this sort of stuff.
This was fun, and the free BTC for a few minutes of work was more fun Tongue

Polls are not reliable, and not the way to sway admins.
Anyone can vote in polls. I could make 40 new accounts right now and vote anything on the poll.

On to the main point, maybe this is not a ponzi. Maybe this is a legitimate game that will outlive both JD and PD.
But, it is still an investor based game.
Can you disagree with that? Can you claim that whether a player wins or loses is independant of other users joining?
By being placed in the Investor-based games subforum, you aren't being called a scam.
Unfortunately though, your game is rather similar to ponzis. It isn't going to get out of the Investor-based games subforum and it wouldn't make sense if it did.
Stay legit, and people might still use it anyways.
351  Other / Meta / Re: Proposition for marketplace section on: July 26, 2015, 02:40:07 PM
Any attempt to use the trust system as a basis for granting users access over other users is ridiculous.
No, there isn't one single trust system which everyone uses.
You assume that DefaultTrust is binding. But no it is not necessarily binding.
I may not trust someone on tier 1 of the default trust, and I may trust people who are not on the default trust list at all.

Imagine if you were banned from posting on the Marketplace because some random person, not on your trust list had just given you a negative trust.
That would be horrible. And for the people not on the default trust system, this is how it would be.
Furthermore, the trust system is not moderated. This means that you are allowed to give anyone negative trust at any time, and it is upto others to decide if they find your trust valid. What you're suggesting would allow anyone on DefaultTrust to essentially give any user a ban from marketplace, and unlike mods who might have similar powers, they would not be able to be held accountable or have any rules to follow.

No. Just no.
352  Other / Meta / Re: Name Change Notification on: July 26, 2015, 02:31:48 PM
You should post a signed message to prove that the new account is really you and not an impostor.

Not really needed in my opinion. Many people create new accounts and it would get very annoying if everyone signed a message in meta or gave us a notification that they were doing so

Yes, not necessary.
But if he already opened a post to write about his change of name, it seems like he wants people to know about it. (I don't get why)
And if that is the case, a signed message acts as proof.

I don't see what reason is there for publicly showing that you're making a new account, but if you really want to, a signed message will make others more sure of the change.
353  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mike Tyson Bitcoin ATM? on: July 26, 2015, 08:45:19 AM
I doubt it was started by Mike Tyson.
It's really likely that someone is just using it as a way to distinguish these ATMs from other Bitcoin ATMs.
If they are doing so though, it is likely that they're going to get into trouble if they ever become big.

EDIT: I was wrong. Just googled it and found an official twitter post announcing it: https://twitter.com/MikeTyson/status/624986928690036737
This is interesting, and it may be able to reach out to sufficient non-Bitcoin users due to him starting it.
But still, the question is, would an easy way to convert Bitcoin to easily usable cash convince you to start using Bitcoin? Not necessarily.
Maybe if your currency was highly volatile (even more volatile than Bitcoin !?) then maybe. But otherwise, this would appeal to only existing Bitcoin users, which seems to sorta miss the point.

They Sext with their classmates, Instagram R-rated selfies, and order fake IDs using freshly minted cybertokens they’ve mined on their bedroom PCs.

But, when you check the original article linked: http://patch.com/connecticut/darien/darien-police-warn-stiff-penalties-fake-ids-1
rather than reading it directly from altcoinnews

From the original story, there is only one mention of Bitcoin:

Quote
Typically people are asked to pay between $100 and $200 via pre-paid credit cards, wire transfers or Bitcoin.

No, they don't talk about Bitcoin in more detail.

Altcoinpress is being stupid, and sensationalizing news from the normal press to make it seem like they are misinforming the public about Bitcoin.
They don't mention a lot of other things that the altcoinpress talks about, such as them being "12 years old", "sext with their classmates" and "Instagram R-rated selfies"

I have no clue what Altcoinpress is doing. Why are they pretending that the real press is spreading FUD about Bitcoin when they barely have hinted at it?
355  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to fix every Bitcoin dilemma... on: July 26, 2015, 07:52:15 AM
The Bitcoin created by the genesis block cannot be spent, ever.
I thought the coins could be spent if anyone has the private key of the receving address for the reward.

Nope, a quirk in how Bitcoin as a whole works means that the 50 BTC mined from the Genesis block cannot be spent at all.
Even if you have the private key of the receiving address, you cannot send it anywhere.

EDIT: Theymos explaining it in better detail: https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1nc13r/the_first_50btc_block_reward_cant_be_spend_why/cchdhrm
356  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mass checking addresses? on: July 26, 2015, 07:13:37 AM
Check this out:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=736607.msg8355029#msg8355029

The blockchain API is used in that.
Alternatively, the simplest way is to just import them all into a wallet as "Watch Only Addresses". Sadly, most places allow them to be imported only one by one as watch-only addresses.
357  Other / Meta / Re: Account Locked. Please unlock. on: July 26, 2015, 06:07:27 AM
Verified.
If you've already PM'd Badbear and/or Theymos, don't do anything else.
They'll come and check anyways.

When you originally PM'd them, did you include the signed message?
358  Other / Meta / Re: Account Locked. Please unlock. on: July 25, 2015, 08:19:59 PM
A signed message from an address you posted maybe helpful for unlocking fast.

If I recall correctly, didn't the message for those whose accounts were locked for security reasons show a different message?
This seems like a ban to me.

Not sure, but if it is a ban and not a lock for security, I doubt signing a message would do anything.
359  Other / Meta / Re: Questions on making a "guide" thread topic on: July 25, 2015, 08:07:40 PM
Muhammed Zakir has said most of what is there to say, but on the "reserved" point, I don't agree.
There are guides that will always be longer than whatever you create, working perfectly within one post.
With the hr tag, you can seperate sections of your guide, and with adequate spacing you can make sure nothing of the sort is needed.
Check out the overall Bitcointalk rules and guidelines thread, I think it is around 4,000 words in one post.
Yes, if you didn't notice there is a guide post stickied on Meta with years of info already

You can make something similar, but it may be redundant.
You can make reserved posts without getting into trouble, but they may be pointless.
360  Other / Off-topic / Re: Skill Testing Math Question -- 0.08 BTC Reward on: July 25, 2015, 07:53:21 PM
Reduction in weight = Change in centripetal force = m(V^2)/r - m(v^2)/r =  84(464^2 - 0.8^2)/6,371,000 = 2.83861407

However, since centripetal force is in Newtons, this is in Newtons.
Converting it to mass equivalent with the number you gave (1 newton = 101.971621 grams)

2.83861407 Newtons * 101.971621 Grams per newton = 289.458078111 Grams heavier

Wait what really? So less?

Let's look at the equation of centripetal force again.
Let's calculate the total centripetal force for any person

Mass in kg * (velocity)^2 / Radius
84 KG * 464 * 464  / 6,371,000
The thing you notice is that the radius is so large it makes the speed look extremely tiny.

Quote
So you're saying that the force on an average person from being whipped around at 464 meters per second is 290.4 grams?  Cheesy There's a ride at PlayLand called the Gravitron, you should ride it sometime!

Also, the only velocities that should be used here are 464 m/s and 0.8 m/s. Where on Earth did you get 463.2 m/s from?

Yes it is so low!
The author of that response made a mistake (464^2 - 0.8^2) =/= (463.2^2) , but was correct for the rest.

I'm not sure if you're playing a prank on the forums, but that's what happens when something is inversely proportional to the radius of something, and that radius is HUGE.

The fact that someone noted that this was consistent with NASA calculations regarding weight at the poles hints that your idea is wrong.

Leaving margin for error, I can say with certainty that the weight of the average person will be approximately 826.59 Newtons. (YES, Google it. The SI unit of weight is Newton, not mass)
Or, to use your extremely weird scale of stating weights in mass equivalent, 84,289.46 grams. Can't vouch for accuracy, may vary between 84,280 and 84,300 grams.
